Impossible to get through to an actual person on the phone. Specialist office has been trying to get a simple referral from this office by fax, and phone, with no response. My specialist appointments were canceled because Lakewood Ranch Intercoastal can’t seem to figure out how to respond to a fax or answer a telephone. Worst managed medical office in the area. If I could give less than one star, I would.

My experience at Intercoastal has been very short because I decided to leave fairly quickly and find a new physician. I was seeking care in the endocrinology specialists and the process of becoming a new patient was really frustrating. The staff answering my calls never responded in a friendly manner and would interrupt me rudely when I had questions about the process of becoming a new patient. I had difficulty finding a doctor who would take my insurance and the only doctor who would is currently leaving. If you dont have a popular medical insurance I would not recommend going here and be prepared for the staffs rude behavior.

This rating is NOT regarding the doctors at this practice. I absolutely adore my doctor, she truly cares about my health and takes time to actually talk to me and go over things. However, this practice has too many patients for the number of nurses/front desk staff. I’ve had hold times of over 30 minutes and recently had problems getting my test results when the tests were taken 2 weeks prior. When you go in early to hopefully get to your appointment on time, you’ll still be in the waiting room for at least 30 minutes. If the practice would hire more nurses and front desk staff I think this could really improve the quality drastically. Also, needs phone staff to be more thorough. I called with a concern and they told me it was necessary I go to the ER that night and that I could not wait overnight to see someone. This ended up being completely unnecessary and now I get to deal with an ER bill I won’t be able to pay and wreck my credit. You guys are effecting peoples lives, you need to be more thorough and hire people who can provide better direction for your patients.

Astonishingly awful place.From medical professionals being sent to a home with ZERO notification, let alone even having discussed such visits, to rude staff. Never-returned phone calls.I was told by a woman at the desk upstairs that I could not even leave a note for my father’s doctor unless I booked an appointment. This was a 2–year established relationship already, not a walk-in scenario or anything odd.I called with a request for emergency medication Rx’s to be on-hand as a strong hurricane was approaching. Never heard back.This place is a scar on the medical profession.

Been waiting a week for their office manager to call me regarding the handling of my new patient appointment. Still no response. I usually don’t write bad reviews but I’ve never dealt with a doctor’s office like this place. So if you want a place where they don’t care about your health; this is the place to be. If this place could be give 0 stars I would gladly give them 0 stars.

Always can get an appointment in the weekend clinic for those with a primary physician with this group is excellent I avoided going to the ER with an anaphylactic reaction and was treated here as soon as I walked in on a Saturday! Your not going to find this anywhere. My entire family goes here now just for the weekend clinic benefit because face it you always get sick in the weekends . As far as those people complaining about 30 minute waits and waiting in the phone too long get with the program and make an appointment online they total respond to that and you can see your lab results in the portal. Most winers with one stars are not happy regardless. This place rocks if you use the website and portal . 😃

I waited on hold for nearly 15 min. The receptionist answering the phone should have taken the information down and had the nurse call me back as it was a clinical question. Instead she attempted to answer my question and had me on the phone another 10 min asking the question multiple times. And not writing down the information already provided. This is why phone calls take 20 min to be answered. Do not recommend

Dr. Canada is a fantastic doctor and wonderful dedicated person. I cannot say enough good things about her. I moved to Florida 4 years ago and I am so impressed with her assistance and understanding of my needs. She listens and follows through until a solutions is reached. She is also very personable and makes you feel comfortable. Thank you Dr. Canada!!!

I have found the doctors great but numerous issues with scheduling and follow-up. The latest was getting equipment with Dr. Canteros office but after 3 months nothing was done as I found out today. I was to get a call back from Dr. Okuharas office in three days but nothing after 9 days so I reached out to them and they finally reacted and did something. Dr. Collins office I had an appointment two weeks out. In the 13th day I got a call to cancel the appointment for the next day and schedule an MRI...another two weeks away so 4 weeks...I give up and will seek patient care with a practice that wont treat me or my family in this manner.

Doctors are great but whoever is running the billing is running some sort of racket. Got slapped with $211 bill for a new patient visit that I was NEVER ONCE INFORMED would be the case. I got robbed. Go elsewhere for medical care.

Do NOT use this medical group especially for hearing aids! They are a fraud and will try to scam you and your insurance. They will claim they take your insurance (AETNA) but then require you to pay up front and then when you submit to file with your insurance company, you will learn that they did not charge you the Pre-negotiated insurance rate. It is a bait and switch and my insurance company and legal counsel are in process of exposing them. They still have not credited me over $4,000 due to me by over charging me $2,000 per hearing aid when they have agreed to Pre-set insurance rate of $660! Be ware as this is insurance fraud!

I have been with Intercoastal for about 25 years.Love my Doctors but making an appt takes a long time as many times it takes up to twenty minutes for someone to answer. Also was informed today, not all the medical records are posted on your portal and if you want them you have to come into the office and pay for your records.Trying to contact the office and I have been on hold for at least 10 min. I love when they tell you that your time is valuable and have you on hold for long periods of time.

Dr. Grice at Intercoastal Medical Group is the best PCP that Ive ever had. She is incredibly thoughtful, caring and thorough in regards to both physical and mental health. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a doctor, especially any POC like myself who are looking for a doctor that you feel like will understand you and your specific needs. As long as I live in Lakewood Ranch, Dr. Grice will be my doctor!

Dr. Canada is awful. I challenged her opinion of my medical situation and she couldnt handle it. She blacklisted me. Anybody who isnt open to other thoughts that arent their own are not somebody I choose to be in charge of my medical care. Especially when I am talking about my own body. The world of medicine is simply practice. Not fact. That is why its called practicing medicine. You must always be your own advocate. Doctors can make mistakes too. They are only human. But when a doctor is unable to listen to their patients that presents a problem.

Its a factory...Hard to get someone on the phone...Dr. Skidmore is very good and nice...Dr. Hammer, not that nice...But they both dropped me the second my insurance ran out..(even though I was willing to private pay)..But they would not give me a reason..Just got a letter in the mail saying I was dropped.

I wish I would have taken the time to read reviews prior to heading in. TAKE these reviews very seriously as we both made an appointment with their office in Feb and March of 2020. During my first phone call I asked how much the first visit would be and I wasnt able to get a straight answer. I was told that I would have to speak with the receptionist during our first appointment. Mind you we were calling in December to set up our first visit...Seemed like a very long window for a first visit. I guest this should have been our first warning.Feb 5th - Lance arrived early asked the receptionist the cost and she said it was up to the doctor and there wasnt anyone that I could speak to regarding pricing. He felt this was a weird situation as he felt like he was being trapped into a bill. Feeling like they must know what their talking about and this being a new visit he trusted their process.Lance met with the doctor, had his first visit and asked about pricing in which he was told by Dr. Asterita that he doesnt work with billing on pricing. (Side note Dr. Asterita is an extremely knowledgable doctor and takes his time with his patients) Lance was recommend to speak to the check out staff for pricing. Spoke to check out staff and again NO ONE KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT THE COST!! HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE??Two weeks later we received a bill for Lance for $334.00 for a first visit. THIS IS insane. I ask for the reason from the billing department ( I spoke to two different women who have the worst. demeanor. ) They uncaring responding that pricing is up to the doctor. CRAZINESS.Needless to say Lance and I will NEVER step foot in this place again. I gave them my feedback that this is an insane way to do business to trap clients into a bill.I highly recommend not stepping foot in this place... unless you like being surprised by bills...

I have been to the facility a couple of times. Primary was wonderful, spent some time with me to get to know me. Second visit was for dermatology and the doctor was very thorough and again spent time with me to understand my exposure and habits in the sun. A few tags were removed but he inspected my entire body to make sure there were no concerns.

I continue to go here (for 5 years) because I like my PCP and keep thinking they will improve in the simplest of things. But seriously, I am one more mistake away from giving up. The administration over this mess should have been fired a long time ago. The phone system was technologically obsolete 5 years ago. The menu is too long and have been on hold at times for 20 minutes+. Getting to a nurse is almost impossible. Lots of errors made on orders for meds, for labs, (coding esp.) that affects getting service and royally screws up my Medicare/ins. billing. This is an EXTREMELY SHAMEFUL was of running the business side of medicine, especially with so many elderly.

I’ve been on hold for over an hour just trying to make an appointment. I love the doctor I have here, and have traveled 2 hours each way to see him for months now. It makes this difficult to say, but I’m done. The office staff is completely disorganized and rude. Getting ahold of them for literally anything is impossible.

I have used 2 different doctors at this location and I have had people call me to schedule appointments and I have stopped in to schedule appointments...I am always greeted and taken care of right away! This is a very busy state for medical care and I think they do an outstanding job with all the patients that go through the office every day!

All I wanted to do was get established with a primary care physician. The lady who called to make the appointment was very rude. She asked me what insurance i had. When I told her, she said in a snarky tone, “Let me explain something to you.” I didn’t have my card on me at the time. I work for a large employer in the area. Every other medical office I’ve ever dealt with knew if they took my company’s plan without needing my specific plan number. Instead of asking someone in her office who knew the answer, she was rude to me. Even after I told her that I saw some of their doctor’s on my insurance company’s web site, she said, “I’ll just make the appointment and if it’s not covered you’ll have to pay.” Is this really how these doctors want their patients treated? Wow. Just wow. I’ll take my business elsewhere.

My husband was referred to this group when he went the ER with extremely high blood pressure. After waiting on hold for 30min the lady was rude as can be telling me I had to go online and pick a random doctor because she couldnt just give us the first available. When I called back rude again. Husband went to his appointment and ended up leaving because the lady at the desk was rude as well.. I dont get it.. He wasnt there for the flu he was there for a condition he needs treated.

Dr Hemmer is rude and the staff lacks in manners and professionalism, it’s true....it’s a factory I waited 40 min on hold before I finally got someone on the phone. Places like this should be exposed and reported to dateline nbc, 20/20 abc and or 60 min.....better yet the local news. The staff is rude and incompetent. Dr. Hemmer is short and rude, very disappointing. I’m going to find a different practice where I’m not just a number and where there are professionals working not incompetent staff and doctors. Absolutely unacceptable!

My PCP is Dr. Asterita at Lakewood Ranch 1. He does a great job. Hes responsive and knows his stuff. Ive had good luck with an xray, sonogram, and a CT scan. Some of the administration at Intercoastal is lacking. Youll often wait on hold for ten minutes plus while trying to get through, and getting prescriptions filled can be problematic. My biggest issue was with weekend urgent care which is at Lakewood Ranch 2. I showed up at 11:45 for an 11:45 appointment. After waiting for 30 minutes I asked where we were in line. The receptionist said 3rd. I overheard her telling a caller that they had slots open for 12:00. Urgent Care? Ha!. If there is a next time Ill try a different clinic or go to the ER.

Intercoastal Medical Group is what is wrong with Healthcare in America. It is a factory for volume not personal care. If you complain about how poorly you have been treated and the issues with scripts, testing and personal attention..... they just drop you. I am among many who they just dropped because you mention how poorly they are following up and how poorly managed the practice appears to patients. I will be reporting them to the Medical board as well as my State Rep at an upcoming dinner. Steer clear of this practice. Many other options to choose from. Read the reviews everywhere, dont just take my word.... take the advice of all the patients who shared the very same experience.

I needed an appointment with my cardiologist. The receptionist was terribly upsetting..not good for a heart patient. You might think your doctor is good but there is a reason the staff thinks they can be rude without consequences . Find a practice !!

Terrible service. Huge bureaucracy. Rude, impatient receptionists. You are treated like cattle. If you want to be treated like a human being, go somewhere else. They never follow through on what they promise and you get bounced around without anyone taking responsibility to solve your issues. The doctors are good but everything else is terrible.

Have been a patient of Dr. Bentze for years. His a nice man and been good to me but Intercoastal has done nothing but go down the tubes. Dont answer phones. Come in late, leave early and nurses dont return calls after speaking directly with them with what is critical to care and been in hospital the night before. I will not return and would strong discourage anyone else for risking their health with such an inept organization.

Dr Asterita is great! However trying to schedule an appointment takes FOREVER!! Just called, it is a Thursday afternoon at 3:45 pm and I had to hold for 9:44minutes before someone answered to schedule my appointment! Ridiculous! If it wasn’t for Dr.Asterita I would go elsewhere for care! Some place that actually has staff that answers phones and it doesn’t take 10 mins to schedule an appointment!

Im happy to verify that the overall review for this place is accurate. Ive been a patient for less than a month and I can say that their customer service is horrendous. Receptionist was beyond rude and wanted to get me out of way as quickly as possible. My care was overall pretty decent by one of the newer doctors. However, it is eclipsed by just how unfriendly and almost hostile employees are over the phone. In person, you can tell they are just there for a paycheck and youre just part of the process. What im saying is if I come across the same person over the phone, I wouldnt mind calling her a female dog.

How does a business operate like this company does and maintain clients. You constantly wait a minimum, minimum of 30 minutes to get connected to an operator and when you do they are rude, obnoxious and have even said when asked why they are so rude (Mr. do you know how many calls I have waiting ? ) I obviously didnt know so I said no, how many ? She abruptly hung up .Now another 30 minute minimum wait.Treating yourself would be better than the Intercoastal Medical cattle herd lineup.

I have never had to wait very long when I am in the LWR office for an appointment. Dr Sauder is very responsive and thorough. Have recommended her to others. The weekend clinic is great to have if needed.

I met with Dr Thacker in Building 11 in early Feb 2018. for my initial visit. No medical procedures or examination was provided at that time. I was scheduled for another visit 3 months later after blood work was done. During my initial visit, I provided to Dr Thacker and his nurse a DVD which had all my previous medical records. I was told that would be sent over to their building 1 for downloading and printing. It is now March 16, 2018 and although I have called their office 4 times in the last 10 days to learn the status of my DVD and both spoke to personnel and left messages, no one has yet to respond. I find this to be deplorable and I now have left a phone message with Patty, their office manager, to locate my DVD and have it available for me to retrieve. I think their lack of responses will cause me to find another medical practice.

Im allowed a free physical every year under my insurance. After my visit, where a specified that I only wanted to come in for a standard visit, I received a bill for over $200. I didnt go for the blood work they ordered fortunately, or that would have been even more. This was literally just to talk to the doctor!Brenda was completely unwilling to work with me at all. Since I discussed medical issues with my doctor, it was not considered a normal physical. I suppose I should have known not to talk with the doctor about medical issues? Silly me. She was well prepared with evidence to shut down any possible argument, so this is obviously just standard operating procedure for this place. And the doctors $200 advice? Eat low carb and exercise.Fortunately I found this out now before I went with any real medical issue. Id hate to see how much Id be gouged in that case.I only wish I had read these reviews before going here, because everything everyone is saying is true. I should have known by the looks on the peoples faces waiting forever in their giant waiting room. The whole experience felt like the process was designed by Walmart, not a medical professional.If you were smart enough to read this before going, then hopefully youre smart enough to take my advice and go somewhere else. Anywhere else.

Let me just start by saying that I would give 0 stars if that were an option. I went to Intercoastal as a new patient and had the absolute worst experience possible.If you have a medication you need to take daily - DO NOT COME HERE. You will go weeks, if not months without it.My 30 day prescriptions took over 30 days to get signed by the doctor, even though they state they need just 72 hours for processing.Once the office called me to come pick up my signed prescription as it was ready. Upon arriving they told me it actually wasnt ready and I would have to come back another time, mind you I had already been waiting for weeks for the prescription. This was incredibly frustrating as I have been taking this medication for years without issue. This office just couldnt seem to get it right.Last week I came in for a med check and my physical - at which they did no more than weigh me and check my blood pressure. While attempting to check in there were 3 women behind the desk I went to, all of whom were chatting amongst themselves about another womans engagement photos. The line to the desk was getting lengthy, but they didnt care. The woman who was checking me in actually told me to hold on so that she could finish gossiping with the others. After finally checking in, I was called in over 20 minutes late and sat in a patient room waiting for my doctor for another 40 minutes. She was in and out in under 3 minutes and none of my concerns were addressed.After attempting to respectfully address my concerns with the delay of medication as well as the lack of professionalism in the office during this visit, I was sent a letter notifying me that I will not be taken as a patient anymore. (The letter is dated as the same day I visited the office, however, no one made mention of this during my visit)Do yourself a favor and go literally anywhere else!

There comes a point where your desire to see a great Dr is meet with the brutal reality of terrible customer service. Dr Sam Quartermaine is a phenomenal Dr but the support staff make seeing him unbearable. Unreasonable wait time when calling. There is a take it or leave it attitude when scheduling appointments. It is impossible to create a sense of urgency with the staff when one is suffering from illness and in need of care.With the current state of health care one would assume they value their patients yet their demeaning approach to customer service indicates otherwise. Heres to Dr Quartermaine starting his own practice, till then Ill go elsewhere.Update: if you write a negative review or complain, they will not respond here or call you to correct your experience. Rather, you or your spouse/family member will receive a certified letter dropping you as a patient.My wifes came today ;0)

Im on the verge of leaving the practice because of atrocious customer support. Try reaching them by phone for ANYTHING. Very long wait times while the recording tells you how important you are. Then hire more people!! Just dont want to spend my life on hold. Grrr.UPDATE - Im leaving this practice. Today, for the 2nd time, I had an appt. & sat in the Drs. office for about an hour with no doctor and no explanation so I left. Was asked on the way out if I wanted to reschedule. Nooo. Why bother? AND, try to contact them about issues. Nope. Too well defended from their customers.

Over the last 10 years, Intercoastal Medical Group has gone above and beyond what I expect from a group practice (especially considering IMG is in-network for my group health insurance).In particular, Dr. Vicki McCarren takes the time to listen. Although Dr. McCarren greets me as a familiar patient after all these years, I always NOTICE & appreciate that she STILL takes time to re-read my medical records at the beginning of each visit, BEFORE she suggests any tests, prescriptions, or treatment plans. I value her conservative, first, do no harm approach.Dermatologist Dr.Joseph Yohn & Amanda Kowalski, PA, are extremely thorough during our annual exams, and they also LISTEN.IMG office staff and nurses have been pleasant & efficient, and the after-5pm doctors on call have been very responsive.Twice, after normal office hours, my pre-existing, once-ievery-blue-moon condition flared up but did not respond to the usual prescription.Both times, IMG on-call docs contacted me within 30 minutes, listened to my suddenly worse symptoms, zapped new prescriptions to pharmacy so I could pickup ASAP. Both times, symptoms improved within hours & I avoided possibility of midnight ER visits.IMG weekend urgent care clinic (for current Intercoastal Medical patients only) has been excellent the few times Ive needed it.

Do NOT go to Intercoastal Medical Group. They have gotten too big and do not care about their patients. I had a heart attack in August and was assigned Dr, Anthony Skidmore. He is horrible and does not even have the balls to talk to you before he drops you as a patient. Due to my wifes job changing twice in the last 6 months , we have had 3 different insurance companies. Intercoastal billing screwed up and billed my hospital visits as office visits and I had a copay for every time a doctor stepped in my room , therefore , the charges were in dispute. Dr. Skidmore decided to drop me as a patient due to lack of payment. I just recently started to have healt issues and have been bounced around from doctor to doctor and location to location. DO NOT go to Intercoastal Medical for anything and especially do not go to Dr, Skidmore

Ive gone to this location for over a decade. The only persistent problem Ive encountered has been waiting to get through to someone on the phone. Ive waited on hold for close to twenty minutes in the past. My doctor is great, check in and check out isnt a lengthy hassle, and Ive never had to wait more than fifteen minutes to see my GP, have blood or x-rays done.
