Went in to for highlights, to fix my roots and go a bit more gingery blonde. As you can see by my pictures, I went in already pretty light. I’m naturally strawberry blonde.The last two photos are how I came out. She made me DARK BROWN. Now, I tried my best to give her the benefit of the doubt but in all honesty, WORST EXPERIENCE IN A HAIR SALON IN MY LIFE. The stylists name was Ray. Please save your hair and do not go to her.It’s taken me almost a YEAR to recover from this. It was traumatic and awful.

This spa was amazing! My husband and I got a couples massage with Jess and Natalie and they were both fantastic. After our massages we enjoyed the sauna and steam room. It was a lovely experience and we will definitely be making this a routine place we go.

I saw Teddy on 9/14/21 and she ROCKED my haircut. My hair was down to my waist. I also have super thick hair. So, I wanted my hair to a little past my shoulders and have it thinned a ton. It turned out so beautiful. It now takes 2 minutes and 1 try to style my hair! It is, for sure, worth the price you pay.

I was so disappointed to find my technician and my friends masseuse were both unvaccinated last week. I’ve sent gift certificates many times to friends . Lovely spa and the manager (who is vaccinated) was excellent and professional , explaining that State laws forbid the management from asking employees about their vaccinated status. Salon guests can however ask their masseuse or spa technician themselves. I chose not to work closely with unvaccinated people coming from Australia where all hair salon and spa employees must be fully vaccinated. Thank you though to the Manager for her understanding and complimentary gift on leaving. (My friend found an employee who was vaccinated there finally , just needed a two week appointment wait for them. )

This is the most unprofessional, disorganized spa I have ever experience. I had two massage appointments for the same time, spoke to the spa at 10a to confirm and double check the amenities. I was told to be there 30 mins ahead of my appointment and combined with the 20 min drive, as I was getting in my car, the spa called to tell me that one of my appointments had been cancelled because someone had called out. We ended up cancelling both appointments. I called back at 12:30p to see if we could fit in the prenatal massage still, and was told yes. We arrive at the spa at 12:50, and upon arrival told there was a communication issue and the massage therapist was too far away to make it to the 1p appointment. Although, they did try to call the number on file (my moms number) the disorganization and lack of empathy or sympathy based on issues that occurred on their end, not mine was more than disappointing. The woman said “sorry that you’re disappointed” but it was really said in a way that was because she had to not because she actually felt bad or sympathetic - which one would think she would feel bad since they cancelled on us not once but twice. No offer for other accommodations or room for exceptions. I would not recommend this place to anyone. We were given a gift card and I would rather throw it away than to give this place any business. Extremely unprofessional.

Teddy is wonderful, she loves working with curly hair and does an amazing job! Ill be going back to get my hair colored next time Im there. The atmosphere is impeccable and so beautiful. All of the staff was friendly!!

Got a chemical peel. Expecting to peel. 72 hours passed. Peel was extremely mild and didn’t cause me to peel. Upsetting when that’s what I pay for. I tried calling the office and I left a voicemail no return phone call from them. Basically chemical peel here is a massage with basic facial. Environment is luxe.

My wife went to the spa today and had a 90 minute massage with Natalie. We both love to go to spas and had a favorite back in Jersey. My wife stated how this is smaller but just as nice if not nicer. She said Natalie was superb and hit it out of the park. Everything was a perfect 10 and now I feel the need to go. My wife is insisting on it. Her wish is my command. :)

Wonderful quaint salon! Staff was very accommodating, nice, and informative. Very nice dressing rooms with secure storage compartments, closed restroom, and steam room. Loved the complimentary coffee and pedicure scrub while we waited by the fireplace for our massage. Purchased a couples massage and was very relaxing. Highly recommend!

They are very nice and well skilled. You get what you pay for. And you get a very good amount.

I had a haircut with Tim today and I had my 8 month old daughter with me. WHAT A FABULOUS EXPERIENCE! Tim did a wonderful job on my haircut and he was so accommodating and personable. Professional and kind and focused on us throughout the appointment. He knows his stuff and has a real passion for hair which shows in his work. The salon was clean and Inviting, everyone was professional and welcoming. highly recommend this Aveda salon and if you are looking for a great stylist, Tim is your guy !!!!

I came in off the street to pick up Aveda products and the staff was extremely knowledgeable. The woman at the front desk had good suggestions for replacement products that I have been using for many years and needed a change. Did not receive spa or salon services

Just walking inside makes you feel relaxed. The staff is super friendly, and there are many small accommodations that make you feel special. The massage options are great, and no matter what you will feel better after!

I absolutely fell in love here. I would absolutely come here all the time if I didnt live so far away, in oregon. I was in desperate need for a makeup and hair stylist for my wedding near there. They saved the day and make you feel comfortable and made me feel beautiful , they are fun people and they are so professional and incredible at what they do!

I went to Canyon River for a massage because I was experiencing a lot of back pain. They were extremely professional and timely with the service, and really went above and beyond to make me feel relaxed and comfortable. I would completely recommend them!

UPDATE: After my initial review Heather called me that day and gave me the option of a refund or a credit (+ more for a product) put on my account. She was super sweet and understanding. Phil did my hair the second time around and its so perfect!! Im really happy with canyon!I got a full foil done by brea a couple of months ago and overall, yikes. At the actual four hour long appointment, she said five words to me total and I understand some people aren’t as social as others, but it got to the point where I found it rude. My hair had a green/blue tint to it when I left the salon and I was told it would wash out, which it never fully did. I had alternating pieces of really brassy and other pieces with a subtle green tint, not a good look. Pre-quarantine in MT, I called canyon multiple times and was told I’d get a call back each time, which I never ended up receiving. When you’re paying 250+ for a hair appointment you expect a well-known business to be a lot more professional

Allie is such a good threader! She does such good eyebrows with such precision and I really enjoy her work. She also gives a really nice facial with little massages. She is one of the best! I definitely recommend her. She used to do my skin care in Missoula before she moved and she was the best and only person I trusted.

The staff is amazing, the facilities are clean, comfortable, calming, and high class, and the service massage was one of the best I’ve had in Bozeman! Great salon! Jacqueline was amazing and she did such a lovely job on my hair! She gave me a scalp massage with eucalyptus essential oil and it was a relaxing and amazing break for my busy day! And since i was cold a warm pillow while i got my hair done... she went far beyond to make sure I was comfortable!! The last 4 years I been looking for the right stylist and salon for me... well I found the place! Thank you Jackie! You made my day!

I was very very disappointed with this salon. I don’t write reviews but this hit me. I went to get full head of highlights and left with partial of my top section done. I was only 5-10 min late and I still got charged $222 for something that I hardly noticed. She also charged me an extra $50 for a hair mask that I didn’t ask for. I went to Rustic Edge and Britt did full highlights for only $70! I do NOT recommend this place. The employees are very unprofessional. I was getting hair done and a younger guy from front desk and another stylist started playing with the purple hair from last hair cut. They made a unicorn from her hair and took pictures. I wanted to get proof but I was so disturbed.

My experiences at this salon were definitely above my expectations and hands down one of the best salon experiences Ive ever had. The staff here was exceptionally friendly. I came here looking to make a big change by cutting a majority of the length of my hair off. I had a very vague idea of what I wanted but had no idea what to do since Id never had my hair that short. Cordel worked with me to find a style that worked perfectly with my transition from long to short hair. I was also very nervous to make this change, and he helped relax my nerves before the big cut and talked with me the whole time which made the transition a very fun experience. The overall atmosphere of the salon is relaxing, and the staff is very interactive. I would highly recommend this salon to my friends/family. Also the products they use/sell are all natural, and they smell and feel amazing.

I have been going to Canyon River Spa and Salon now for three years and have received many different treatments and have never been disappointed. I was in over a week ago to get my hair cut with Raina. I absolutely loved Raina and her sweet and bubbly personality and she did an amazing job with my hair. I had so much fun with her. I would recommend Canyon River to anyone!

I came here for a hair trim the other day, and Kacie did a fantastic job. She told me she’s only been cutting hair for two and-a-half years but she cut my hair better than previous stylists who say they’ve been cutting hair for 20+ years! She did everything exactly how I asked and was very nice and easy to talk with. I’ll definitely be coming back.

I just got my a full set of lash extensions, I absolutely love them. My stylist, Emerson, was really good! Made my lashes look exactly like I explained that I wanted them I had a very relaxing experience and I cant wait to go back!

Our staff of 7 ladies went on a retreat here on a Friday morning. We were greeted by Sari (who was the nicest lady ever)! She asked what we would like - we were offered complimentary mimosas, coffee and tea! The ladies then went into the spa. We sat by the fireplace and each had a foot scrub, then went into our separate massage rooms. The massage therapists were all so wonderful, and they were very accommodating with each of our individual needs! While some of us were waiting on the other ladies, we were able to enjoy the luxurious, lavender steam room. This was a much needed treat for our team and we appreciated it so much! I would recommend Canyon River Spa to ANYONE looking for an amazing, relaxing time!

I went to this salon for a cut and color and was treated to the most amazing salon experience ever! Cordel was so kind and understanding with my wants and needs. He took the time to ask my preferences and added several unique touches to my visit. I have never been to an Aveda salon and he explained about differences from other colors vs Aveda products. He even got me a latte 💖.. What a Great Kid!! Very enjoyable experience!! Will for sure return to him!

Great massage and relaxing environment

I love the relaxing and soothing atmosphere of the spa and the beautiful and vibrant atmosphere of the salon. I had the best facial I have ever had anywhere, a very deep but relaxing massage and the best color and cut that I have had in a long time! The steam room was very relaxing and I felt very pampered by all the staff. Thank you Canyon River.

Not worth it. The mens dressing room was one at a time so you had to wait your turn. The shower was also a steam room you couldnt turn off so it was over 100 degrees in the shower and steamy. I could barely breath. I had to leave the shower door open. The message was just OK. I would suggest going somewhere else.

I had been searching for a good hair cutter for a while cause, I always like a pixie hair cut and Bria exactly gave me that!She is phenomenal ! so I will have to stick with her ❤😻😍

I live in Big Sky and was called less than 30 minuets before my appointment and was told my stylist was sick and had to cancel. (Did she not know this earlier in the day????) I was already in Bozeman just for this appointment along with my boyfriend was supposed to get his hair cut after me but the same women! I just would expect more from a senior stylists and better customer service from this spa.

My absolute favorite spa! Comfortable, quiet and so relaxing. A therapeutic massage with Maggie is a wonderful treat. She is such a talented massage therapist, I cant wait for my next spa day!

I really debated whether or not this negative review should happen, as I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and simply take my business elsewhere if it isn’t a good fit. However, this experience was just not right. I called and spoke to someone who seemed really friendly about getting a haircut. I asked to please put me with someone with a lot of experience because I have thick hair and bangs that are a bit tricky. I was told my stylist was great and has been cutting hair for 8-10 years. Sounds great, right?I arrive for my appointment and instantly see my stylist is pretty young, but still give her the benefit of the doubt. First she did my brow wax, and I knew then that this wasn’t going well. I’ve had a lot of brow waxes before, and normally you walk away with nice clean lines and instantly look fresher. She left obvious patches of hairs intact below the brow line and didn’t even seem to notice. Just no attention to detail. I tried to point out an area that needed to be touched up, but I got home and still had to tweeze the heck out of my brows. I should have called it quits at that point, but what are you going to do, cut the service short and leave? We get started on the haircut and it seems she understands what I’m asking for, so I’m sitting there just hoping she will give me a somewhat decent cut. Within a few minutes of talking it turns out she has graduated cosmetology school 4-5 years ago, NOT 8-10. Not cool to lie to get someone’s business, Canyon River. Hearing this threw me off, so I made a comment about how I think a lot of hair stylists are just born with a talent for this sort of thing, because I’ve had excellent haircuts by people who weren’t that experienced, and she ACTUALLY says to me while taking scissors to my hair “Not me! My teacher actually told me they were worried about me when I started!” UM, what the what? After an awkward silence I jokingly/in disbelief said, “I’m assuming things turned out okay though?!” And she said yes, they said I turned out okay. Seriously, so unprofessional and just really made me uncomfortable. Suffice it to say, the haircut is not great at all :( I mean it’s not so bad I need to have someone else completely fix it, but you know when you’ve gotten a haircut that is just something you could have gotten at Great Clips. After doing my bangs she commented on how she made them thinner in the center, but at the start of the cut we had discussed liking my thicker bangs and I honestly think her cutting them that way was an accident rather than technique. I still for some reason feel bad giving a negative review, but I just think it’s worth sharing this time. Perhaps the spa section is different, but I would not recommend getting your hair done here.

Emily was the worst! I will never come back to canyon river spa again, Emily made me feel uncomfortable, unimportant, and her energy was so negative. Thank you for the water but that was the best part of my experience. I will never be back because of Emily!

Visiting my parents in Bozeman and wanted to treat my mom to a mother/daughter nail day... and a treat it was. We both got our nails done by Sierra, not only was she courteous and professional but she did a PERFECT job on our nails and gave the best hand massage! Im definitely hooked, cant wait to try Sierras hair services on my next visit to MT. As for the spa, the entire staff was welcoming, the facilities were clean, and everything else was grand.

Love love love this place!! I followed Chelsy here from Sage and I have never regretted it! The stylists here are well trained Aveda technicians that take a foggy idea of what id like and make it a reality! The fact that there is a coffee bar is just icing on the... latte. :)

Just had my FIRST salon day at canyon river spa. WOW. Ive never felt so welcomed and comfortable in that environment (i am not girly whatsoever)... I had the pleasure of meeting Cordell, who trimmed my hair and made me look super fly! He was so sweet and very informative of the Aveda products. I thoroughly enjoyed being graced with his presence. We actually found out we shared multiple mutual friends! Cordell is officially MY hair stylist. He is such a natural and so passionate about his profession!! It was truly inspiring! I also met Jesse, who waxed my lip and brows. She is the cutest thing youll ever see. She does an amazing job and is a self proclaimed minimalist. She did exactly what I asked and was extremely gentle. I previously went to Ulta and they are Darth Vader compared to Jesse. I walked out of the salon with a little redness, as expected with my sensitive skin.. But I didnt feel like I just had the first three layers of skin ripped off of my face like I used to feel at Ulta... theres absolutely no burning or tingling!! I cant even put into words how awesome this crew was today. Thank you so much for being so approachable and easy to talk to. I enjoyed every moment of our Montana kids story time. I will only go to canyon river spa from this day on!!

Ive been twice and both times have been very disappointed. Ive come in with pictures of exactly what I wanted and not gotten that either time. Afterwards when Ive told them they didnt do what I asked and i wasnt pleased, they never tried to remedy their mistake, I still payed full price- which by the way is absolutely outrageously priced. Ive gone to other aveda salons received exactly what I asked for, at about half the cost. Also, they took my jacket to hang up, which I have nothing against, but when my nice Patagonia gets taken, thats when Im angry. Im so dissapointed with this place, and they will NEVER have me as a customer again.

Had a horrible experience at this salon. My hairdresser gave me the worst ombré I have ever seen and when I asked to have it fixed she told me she did exactly as I asked, proceeded to get extremely rude, and when she pulled the manager/owner I was then told I would have to pay the extra product cost to fix it. So I got charged $140 for a truly terrible ombré job and then charged $50 to fix it back to normal.
