It pains me to write such an unfavorable review. However, I believe readers need to know what could happen to their loved ones if they choose Larkin Chase Center, Bowie, MD. Our loved one entered Larkin Chase Center in March 2021 for physical rehab after a brief hospital stay. Due to COVID-19 protocols, the family was only allowed window visits. We did not have a problem with the protocol to keep patients safe. However, the Center staff were difficult to reach. We were on hold for long periods trying to get information on our family members health. We took issue with the lack of care our family member received after only a week at the Center. Our family member was not eating or drinking enough water, but the Center did not immediately advise the family. After only a week, our family member was curled up in bed, lifeless as if dying. He could barely walk. We took emergency measures to transport our family member back to the hospital. The doctors at the hospital diagnosed our family member with kidney failure, a condition not previously diagnosed before entering the Center. The doctors at the hospital advised our family members kidneys were dry due to Larkin Chase Center staff members continuing to give diuretics when our family member was not receiving sufficient hydration. My delay in posting a review was due to in-home health care for our family member. Thank the Lord, our family member has recovered and is active again. I would not recommend Larkin Chase Center to anyone who cares for their family member. The Center does not even deserve one star from our experience.

I would love to give this place less than 1 star. The staff are HORRIBLE, more specifically the social worker Kat and Rocky. They are absolutely no help and provide no communication. Having a loved one here at Larkin has been the absolute worse experience and I will definitely be contacting corporate and a family lawyer. Please do not allow your loved one to come to this place.

Our mom is there at Larkin Chase now for a few years and we are very pleased with the facility and care that she is getting. The facility is well kept and residents seem happy. The staff is very knowledgeable and caring. Making the decision of a nursing/rehabilitation center was not a easy one for us. This team has not only put our minds at ease but my mom seems happy and that really makes us happy. Thank you for all you do!

The Larkin Chase Facility has been the Home of My Mother since 2015. That alone speaks volumes of the care she has gotten at this facility to have been there so long. We were referred by a caring soul at PG Hospital. We all have standards of how we would like our LOVE ONES CARED FOR! The journey is not paved in gold, but with GODS words, building bridges and navigating the TRIP, it will be a successful, loving, caring experience. GOD BLESS YOU😇🙏🏾😍

My husband came home in the dead of winter with NO COAT or. HAT. I was informed that he would arrive home a little after 2 pm ( I paid for transportation) he didn’t arrive until a little after 7pm. His backside was dry, dirty nails.it was very hard to reach anyone. I never spoke to his doctor regarding his care. He brought home clothes that wasn’t his. Of course he was minus his clothes except for three tee shirts. The staff is non responsive except for the operator. My husband came home in the same position he was in when left the hospital.

Larkin Chase is a wonderful Long Term Care & Rehabilitation facility. My Mother has been a resident for many years. The staff and nurses are caring and professional.. and feel like family. They have always addressed any questions and concerns, and have always kept me in the loop regarding my mothers care. Thank you for all you do! Your family is in good hands at Larkin Chase.

My loved one has resided at Larkin Chase for a few years now and we are very pleased with the facility and care that they are providing. The facility is well kept and residents seem happy. When I stopped in for my tour I brought along a list of top 10 things to look for in a good facility and Larkin Chase Bowie had everything. This team has not only put my mind at ease but my loved one seems so vibrate now and that really makes me happy.

Larkin Chase is a family driven Rehabilitation and Long Term Care facility. The staff genuinely cares for their patients and the access that family members have with them. During this current pandemic environment the facilities staff has been of upmost importance as they have been the bridge between family and their loved ones. Without their assistance, this horrible situation would not be possible to endure. I want to thank the staff for being responsive to our needs.

Sounds like people have alot of positive experiences with this facility, however I DO NOT recommend sending your loved ones here if they are bedridden or have difficulty communicating. Its hard to reach people on the phone and video calls are limited (we cant visit because of COVID). Hygiene was not a priority at this facility. When my relative arrived home he had dry/dead skin, dirty finger nails, and it was CLEAR that no one had done his oral care. He also appeared to be in pain every time that he was moved, so I dont believe that he was be re positioned frequently enough. Im very disappointed in this facility, knowing the population that work with, I would expect that they are able to help care for people who cannot care for themselves.

My mother was a patient with stage 4 terminal cancer with very little mobility.Due to the pandemic we were only allowed to see her thru a glass window.We as a family witnessed 2 male nurses instead of gently assisting my mom to get her out of bed, They very aggresivly lifted her fragile body up and forcely made her walk without her walker.My mother would also complaint they they would hurt her when they lifted her up and were very rude and not caring at all.My mother was transfered from there to Arrundel hospital and all my mothers personal belongings were left behind (clothes,wallet,Ipad,Brand new S20 Galaxy android phone etc).My sister and me reached out to hospital which told us that the rehab place would reach out to us so we can pick up my mothers belongings. We never got a call so we decided to call them.We spoke to so many people that said they would reach out to us and never did.Finally they called us and we picked up only her belonging except for her BRAND NEW UNLOCKED S20 GALAXY ANDROID PHONE.Its been over a month and we are still getting the run around over the phone mysterously disappearing.Its not about the money!its about the sentimental value the phone has to us as my mother passed away Feb 1, 2021.DONT TAKE YOUR LOVE ONE HERE IF YOU REALLY CARE FOR THEM!!THEY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF PATIENTS THAT ARE NON VERBAL AND ILL!

My mother was a patient there recently for 3 weeks. I would never send anyone else there. it was a nightmare. no communication with caregivers. they dont answer the phone. no contact with my mom. she was left in the bed for nearly 3 weeks because she couldnt walk. unable to speak with my mom on phone because she is hard of hearing. you wouldnt want your mom treated this way. poor. poor. not even 1 star

My mom has resided at Larkin Chase Center over a year. I have been well pleased with the entire staff -nursing, physical therapy, finance, maintenance etc. The attention to my moms needs especially during this pandemic has given me ease and great appreciation of their genuine well being of the residents there.

This is a great place to recover from a stroke. The therapists are outstanding, they got my husband walking after only 6 weeks, nursing staff is first class, administration was extremely helpful in helping me navigate through all the paperwork. Special thanks to Randy from OT and Surnita from Social Service. Really good food too, and a lovely garden for patients to get fresh air and host visitors. The place is immaculately clean.Also, the location is most convenient as it is in the Bowie Town Center where one can go shopping and choose from many restaurants.

My family member has been at Larkin Chase since 2017, after leaving another facility. Our experience is considerably positive because we are very involved with her care. My family member was also very active in activities and communicating with other residents and staff, Pre Covid -19. She communicates well and can explain her issues to staff. This is a big difference in how we communicate, and can understand the facility and what’s going on at the time. However, there are so many staff changes, it can be confusing and emotional as well.During the last 6 months, I believe staff has done a great job while putting theirselves at risk as well and caring for our loved ones. We must stay involved and work together to ensure that our loved ones are treated with the utmost respect and care.I had my first visit to my granddaughter on Nov 5th. The process was well structured and closely monitored. We met in the courtyard with plexiglass between us. We had our masks on and we were in compliance with the rules. It was a beautiful fall day and a blessing to see my granddaughter in person. We appreciated the opportunity to visit after so many months.

My mother has been placed here twice. Like every facility it has its pros and cons. This place is in serious need of some cosmetic updating, especially the rooms. I recognize that this is a very old facility... however, they are very much in need of updating. The rooms are small, they dont have adequate storage for their inventory nor for their customers. The rooms are dark and depressing, a simple coat of paint would do this place some much needed justice. The staff (nurses and technicians) are generally timely and patient. She seemed very appreciative of the Occupational and Physical Therapist. The food as I understand it is hit or miss. She felt like their could have been more vegetables with her evening meals, as well as other morning options other than oatmeal almost every morning. But overall based on my observations and conversations with my mother, I would rate this facility down the middle with 2.5 stars.

This facility and staff were Exceptional! The nurses, techs, Physical therapists and Occupational therapists were very Professional and caring. They responded in a timely manner if you pushed the call button. Out of 5 stars, I give them an 8!

I had a family member transferred to this facility recently when my family member returned to the hospital in the ER we were horrified at the bed sores and once I was able to ask some questions my family member displayed signs of traumatic stress from the treatment received my family member witnessed the mistreatment of other patients. I would never reccomend this facility Ive seen animals treated better at the veterinarian. This is a absolute NO I would never recommend this facility to anyone

The room furniture was rather cheap, old and beat up and probably needs updating. However, my husband and I found the staff to be responsive to his needs for the 12 days he was there for rehab. The staff was generally friendly and helpful. He was treated well and taken care of well including the supervisor bringing in a maintenance person on the weekend to fix the light in his room when it was found to be broken. We had no major complaints.

Toured this facility,only judging on the above pictures must have been when they first open.
