The loss of a loved one is so shocking to the system, it is difficult to make the simplest of decisions, let alone the big ones needed when planning and executing a funeral / burial. We simply could not have managed without Paulina, our funeral director at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home.Paulina was always compassionate, kind, loving and considerate. She was very proactive, responding immediately to emails and voicemails. She gently led us through the entire process, and helped us evaluate services that would make our experience of helping our most precious loved one, George Cater, find his final resting place in the very best way possible.This burial had complications - George passed away in San Diego, CA and Paulina had to manage the arrangements to have his body shipped 3,500 miles to Bourne, MA in time for the funeral. She helped us with every detail and this was hard as family was spread out across the United States. Our need included holding the funeral service at your location, and then having everyone (including your team) move Georges body to the cemetery for the rest of the services and burial at the gravesite. Paulina thought of literally EVERYTHING. She helped us with the selection of the coffin, the vault, the printed materials, and all the details of the funeral itself, including all the coordination with all various third-parties involved, including the death certificate. She even helped arrange the police escort to the gravesite. She also went out to the gravesite after the funeral and put a placecard at his site while we are waiting for the headstone to be completed.Through the entire process, Paulina was thoughtful, sympathetic and generous of heart. The tone and tenure of her voice is calming and soothing ... she knows how to show CARE during the most difficult of circumstances. It was such a relief to all of us to be in such great hands during this emotional time.We held Georges funeral service at your location, and it was beautiful. Thank you so very much to Paulina, and your entire staff, for making Georges funeral services such a lovely and meaningful experience, without any complications or difficulties - it was PERFECT. Your entire team was very professional on the day of the service, and everyone was dressed beautifully, with the appropriate level of sympathy and support both during the funeral onsite, and at the gravesite. All the printed materials were done beautifully and were completed on time, even though we had last minute requests and changes. You allowed us time to be with Georges body before the service, and add additional personal items, as needed. You did a wonderful job with the placement of the flowers we ordered, and had a lovely memorial binder prepared for us to capture this meaningful event - all of this, you thought of for us since we couldnt think while managing our grief.The family and I cant rave enough about the service we received from Paulina and Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home. My family used Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home when my step father Earl Bradford died in 1990, We found them to be professional and caring for the process of cremation of Earls remains, Years later we found a box of Earls remains in my mothers closet. We called Nickerson-Bourne and they made immediate arrangements for proper burial of Captain Bradford in a ceremony at the National Cemetery. When my husband and I visited the gravesite we were impressed and decided to choose the National Cemetery for our own burials. When my husband, an army veteran became terminally ill we decided to choose Nickerson-Bourne when he passed away in February. The arrangements were excellent. They walked me through everything and the funeral was dignified and impressive. Thank you for making this difficult time flow so smoothly for us.

We were so very impressed with the kindness and professionalism of everyone at the funeral home. My brother died suddenly. All family members lived at least 2 hrs away. We knew one in the area. A friend of my brother recommended the Nickerson-Bourne. We contacted them and they saw us immediately. The staff reviewed all of the options available to us for burial,cremation,viewing and the financial costs involved.They allowed us time to make our decision.The room for viewing was professionally decorated with warm tones. The furniture arrangement allowed for quiet conversations and family gatherings. The flowers were tastefully arranged Personnel from the funeral home were always present and offered assistance as needed. We did not order enough prayer cards and they immediately printed more for us during the wake,at no charge.After the services we were given a carrier bag with the registration book and Mas that had been brought to the services. The staff then helped us to place the flowers in our cars to arrange at lunch the next day.We recieved a call from Nickerson-Bourne approximately 2 weeks after the service. They were calling to ask how we were doing. They gave us the name and phone number of counseling service that is available for a year, without charge, for any questions .We highly recommend Nickerson-Bourne funeral home.
