Just moved to the neighborhood and was looking for a primary care provider. Was hesitant to book Dr. Gao based on the other reviews, but I did and was very happy with him. He was very attentive and took time to answer any and all of my questions.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Gao’s for years and today was the last day I am seeing him ever. He does not care about an individual patient and applies a one size fits all approach. He honestly seems like he is punching in a clock. After advising me to take a medication I am allergic to which is on my chart not that he would be bothered to look at it. He told me if I wanted to try that medication again I could (baffling) and if I have an issue I have to go to the ER or urgent care for help. He refused to prescribe me a medication that I got from the urgent care down stairs from his office. The urgent care doctor specifically told me that he could prescribe A medication they gave me and after repeating what she said he just flat out refused. I asked verbatim “ so am I just supposed to go to the Emergency room or the urgent care for help?” And his response was yes. I can not believe any hospital would ever hire this individual for how he just straight up doesn’t believe his patients when they ask for help or just doesn’t want to. After writing on my chart to continue the same medication he refused to prescribe for his personal beliefs. after dropping 17% of my body weight from another medication At his advice I was reluctant to be on he just laughs and says well it was supposed to do the opposite. This doctor is the sole reason I gave up trying to pursue help for years. Because of him I thought every doctor would just look at me like I’m trying to get drugs to abuse. He isn’t capable of anything but basic medicine and does not show any empathy towards his patients at least in my case. if you care about your health/mental health DO NOT see this doctor. I implore you! As soon as I walked out of his office today the first thing I did was remove him as my primary care physician at the desk on his floor. The receptionists were extremely helpful and I now have an appointment with a new doctor in the same building who was spoken of very highly to wait a couple months Is nothing so long as I never have to see Dr. Gao again. which I’m so excited for! someone also told me in passing that many people who see him are not impressed at all with him. AGAIN I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH HOW INCOMPETENT THIS DOCTOR IS! It honestly scares me that he could be treating other patients as I was treated and making them feel guilty for asking for help like I have felt in his care. Which is why I’m writing this review.

Do not go to this doctor this doctor does not care about you takes a long time to respond To all your concerns I agree with the other one size fit all is what he thinks about and thinks about himself and nothing else and does not listen to your concerns nor worry about what your concerns are are anything to make you feel better he is not helpful do not plan on getting your answers Do not play on getting your health better I recommend do your research before going to this doctor
