The fact is simple, we are facing a mental health crisis in our country and there are just not enough organizations out there that provide affordable, accessible mental health services. The Faulk Center is leading the charge on this front and I commend them for their commitment to serve those who are often overlooked. I have volunteered at Faulk Center, going on six years. In that time, I have had the opportunity to refer many friends and family members for counseling and to support groups. Every person referred has been helped, whether dealing with anxiety/depression, navigating through grief or unexpected loss, lifestyle changes (divorce and illness) or as young adults facing challenges. Asking for help and support when we need it---requires courage and attention to self-care. Reach out to the caring professionals at Faulk Center.

After 2 hour intake call my daughter was turned away and told to get help for binge and purging when she Even told them that she thought of suicide every day and hadn’t binged and purged in over 2 months. A week later I had to baker act my daughter because finding a Dr to help her right away was not going well everyone kept telling us it was a 2 week Waite for an appointment. All they cared about was the intake fee and not the well being of my daughter! Don’t bother with this group

Caring for my aging parents was taking a huge toll on me, negatively affecting my own family. I have lived in the area for over thirty years and knew of Center for Group Counseling. I was hesitant to call, but I needed help. I attended Mens Issues group for a few months. Being a part of a group, getting objective feedback and hearing challenges others were facing helped me dig out of my depression.The leadership and group exceeded my expectations. Months later, I referred my neighbor to the grief support group, after her husband passed away. They also helped her a lot. I recommend Faulk Center, they accommodate any budget and need. The group setting and time was exactly what I needed.

Have been going on and off for the past 4 years. Really great staff and comfortable environment. I owe a lot to the Faulk center for helping me in my troubling times

I tried group therapy here 4 years ago , and not only was I was mislead at the initial session by the grad student but I was put in a group with mentally unstable individuals and incompetent grad students, one guy in the group had no relation to society whatsoever and acted very creepy. Had I known this before, I wouldve ran far away. Total waste of money and misrepresentation.

I would not recommend this center to anyone. As a mental health professional myself, I am aware of the need for student trainees to gain real life experience, but it should not be at the expense of children and their families. Without disclosing the details of my daughters experience & the toll it is still currently taking on my family, I can only advise that anyone in need of counseling seek help from a LICENSED therapist & avoid being the training subjects for graduate students.

I asked for Dr. Amanda Weiss. I left several several several voicemails. Never called me back, never even replied to one single phone call. Last time I was there in August I waited almost 45 minutes all I got was a business card with Amanda Weiss name to leave a message. I said I left a lot of them unanswered. I understand if she is busy would be nice to leave a message saying she couldn’t help me because she was busy rather than leaving your messages to a giant void.

I have used this place for counseling both professionally and for personal reasons. The staff is caring and professional and the site is welcoming and warm. Took off one star because the process to get in is a bit lengthy. Usually when a client contact services like this they are at their wits ends and a speedier process would be beneficial.

A good resource for people who are in need of mental counseling and could not afford the outrages rates from regular therapists. The most recent group leader I had this summer really feel short of mark, instead of staying objective, she was dismissive of my feelings and feedback abolut one group member who acted in disrespectful way , and took sides with this person, which is quiet ironic, considering that the group was about learning inter personal growth and setting boundaries. The other group leaders I had were not bad, especially the 1st one who was excellent.

I would not use this place as a pet whisperer. The counselors are very young and dont understand. Do not use them for anything that would need to be documented. They wrote that my daughter with a comprehension disorder was not participating at the highest level in group. That was her highest level. Kicked her out and she was very very very rejected. BEWARE

Absolute incompetence! These graduate students are kids that are terrified to make a decision...in addition, they are incompetent! They should not advertise that they can help people when they cannot even function as an organization. Don’t waste your time here!

After going for the initial consultation, for which there is obviously a cost. I was told they couldnt help me and wanted to give a referral. I am going through a very very rough time and they pushed me away. It took alot for me to go in there and open up. Never going to trust again.....
