Coming up on my 5-year anniversary working out at this gym I figured I now have the credibility to give it a very well-earned 5-star review! The staff are incredibly knowledgeable, the community has produced some of my closest friends, and working out here has become a part of my routine for half a decade! Ive never stuck to any fitness routine more than a few weeks--so thats really saying something!! In particular, in the last two years, I was able to continue working out throughout my pregnancy and the coaches worked with my physical therapy to continue the modifications post-partum. I was very worried I would quit when I got pregnant, but they worked with me to find something that I could still benefit from! AND I am convinced the endurance helped with my labor and recovery (TMI, sorry!).The gym has also been flexible recently with Covid-related schedule and sanitation modifications to keep us working out safely. I feel so comfortable here (except for that normal working out discomfort from pushing limits, of course ;). This is truly a Bloomington gem of a place! Highly recommend the QuickFit and ParkFit classes!

Hoosier crossfit is amazing! I could never motivate myself to stick with weight training of any sort until I found this. It has helped me build and maintain strength, and its really fun. Each class feels like such an accomplishment and a step towards my Olympic goals!!

My life has changed since joining HAC and participating in their CrossFit classes! In just 3 months, their coaching and programming has helped me lose nearly 70 pounds and 16% body fat. It is a fun, team-oriented environment led by expert coaches who care about keeping their community safe and healthy with proper technique on all movements. After months in quarantine, I needed to get off the couch and focus on my health. I met with Jenna and came up with a plan for getting back into a routine that would meet my goals. I signed up for On Ramp and learned many different skills that would bring me into the CrossFit world. Jenna listened to my concerns and watched my form. She was attentive to my weaknesses and worked with me on how to overcome them. After On Ramp, I started my three times a week. Fortunately, it was test week. This allowed me to get an idea of a starting point in order to see growth over time. The coaches are attentive and work with each individual, even in a class environment. The community at HAC is supportive and welcoming. The facility is clean and they pay attention to the tough times we are living by following the health guidelines in place. Looking forward to this journey!

I put off trying out Crossfit for a number of reasons, the main one being really intimidated that I wasn’t in shape and couldn’t lift anything remotely heavy. After some additional convincing from a friend I decided to just go check it out and sit down and talk with someone. I’m so glad I did. The coaches really care about your success/safety and help you modify for things if you are unable to do the exercise as prescribed. Everyone is super supportive and they cheer you on whether you are the first finishing the workout or the last. I just love it and it feels like “home”. This is the first thing I have actually stuck with and it feels so good

Best crossfit gym in town. If you are new to CrossFit or looking for a new home gym, dont even think twice (Ive been to all 4 gyms in town). The coaching staff are the best thing the gym offers. You will never find this much passion to help you improve your fitness more than this. Not to mention how knowledgeable they are. No need to question them, just do what they say. I was there 1.5 years, starting out with a decent skills. Ended up competing. Most of my PRs are from this gym. Follow Shauns programing and you will see the change.If you are new to CrossFit, they have a CrossFit 101 course called on ramp. We all start here. Jenna will make sure you move and perform safely and efficiently. She will keep you safe!Dont be intimidating. We all have to start some where. The two things you see when you walk into the gym 1) smiley face greeting you from left and right, and 2) some weirdo working out so hard at the back of the gym (they are train super hard and probably competing soon).Let them be your new family! Hoosier Crossfit is always my HOME GYM

Not your typical gym, and I love it! From the second you enter this gym you can see that it is different. Betsy at the front desk is so friendly and helpful, she always greets everyone with a loving smile and will stop anything she is doing to help and have a chat. I love seeing her face when I come to the gym. The coaches Shaun and Jenna instantly become family. From first taking on ramp (which can be a little scary if you look at the others in the gym) they encourage you with pleasure. You can tell they are a standard for CrossFit. They focus every class on making sure not only are you burning calories and getting fit but also working on mobility and positioning. Not only will you see results in the way your body looks and you feel, but you will be able to complete daily task much easier. Naturally your body starts to bend and move the right way. I love the encouragement I get in this gym. I know that Shaun and Jenna at all times are looking out for my personal goal and safety while pushing me hard enough to sweat. LOVE LOVE LOVE. This place is filled with some of my favorite people.

Joining a gym like Hoosier CrossFit has been life changing for me. I go 3 times a week and get an amazing work out each time. I enjoy the personalities in this gym better than any other gym I have been to in town. At Hoosier CrossFit you really feel like your part of the CrossFit community. Shaun and Jenna are the best coaches Ive had. They both are able to effectively coach movements while keeping individuals goals, strengths and weaknesses in mind. I love knowing Im going to get a great work out, have a good time doing it and see amazing results. They do an amazing job at inviting the community into the gym. I went here for the first time with a friend a little while ago. I really liked the main coach and the workout was wonderful but one of the female coaches (not Meredith) was very passive aggressive. Both my friend and I noticed it and it was very uncomfortable. I don’t know if she was having an off day or something but it definitely turned us off to ever coming back.

Ive been to CrossFit gyms in over 10 countries (and various cities in the USA) and have never found such a tight-knit yet welcoming community. While most gyms and gym-goers are friendly and personable, Hoosier Athletic Club takes it to an entirely new level. What they have built is truly unique both in personal connectivity and offerings/flexibility of programming (more than just CrossFit, as well as lots of flavors of it). Every day is an appropriate challenge that helps me improve; Ive only had positive experiences and healthy development here.

I started in June of 2018. Since leaving the Army in 1993, I tried a couple of gyms and doing exercise on my own. It just was not getting it. I always felt like I was doing something wrong.When I started at Hoosier CrossFit, I was very nervous. Was this going to be a place full of people that slam weight on the floor and grunt loudly? Will the trainers know what they are talking about? Will they work out with me?There wasnt any grunting or slamming of weights. The coaches work with us every single class. They explain why we are working the particular area and how to do it correctly. They also do the same workout they prescribe for the CrossFit class.When I started, I was weak. I often found myself being the last person to finish the workout. The first time that happened, I had the rest of the class (my team) there to encourage me on. There is no shame in being the last one. The community of people I work out with are class act bunch. No matter what time the class, I know I can expect the same thing.Each class starts with some mobility exercises and stretches that will help the targeted areas be ready for the workout of the day. Once that is complete, they go over skills which we will be using for the workout. It doesnt matter if someone has been there for years or weeks - the same skills discussion is given. Every workout. It may be repetitive, but it will benefit everyone. Consistency is key.Once the class has started the workout, they stay with the class and make sure we are doing the movements wrong. They let us know when we are doing things correctly and if we are rocking it.Post workout is more mobility exercises to help out the targeted areas.Class is typically an hour long, but sometimes will go over. If you need to leave right after the workout, let them know. They will also scale the workouts to meet fitness levels and make adjustments for people who may be sick, injured or disabled.In six months of going to three classes a week, I have lost about 25 pounds and lost 3 inches off my waist. I no longer sweat when doing ordinary tasks. I have more energy and my stress is greatly reduced.Shaun and Jenna are passionate about what they do. That passion translates into the quality of service they provide. I cant speak to the other places in the area and how well they do. Shaun and Jenna have built a safe and worry-free place to work out. This is the place you want to try first.Before going, I hated to exercise. Hated it. Now, I look forward to going to my classes. I truly love the environment and the program they have created.

By far the best CrossFit gym I have ever been too. There are friendly and invested coaching staff, welcoming members, and excellent facilities! There are programs for every fitness level and the CrossFit methodology is scaleable to almost any physical impediment. As a regular attendee of the group classes, specialty programs, and Performance Competition team for the past couple years, I have both witnessed and experienced coaching in almost every context the gym offers, and have never had anything but the best of impressions. I cannot recommend this gym too highly!

We were in town for a college visitation and used the drop-in option. The coaches and staff were very welcoming and knowledgeable. The gym was clean and organized with updated equipment. The WOD was well planned and the group warm-up and WOD demonstration were great! I really liked how the trainer for the WOD reminded the group to work on proper technique and not sacrifice form just to get repetitions. Overall it was a great experience!

For someone who is not althletic at all this gym has slowly turned into the safest place for me right now and that speaks volumes about the coaches. They work hard to keep the environment clean and friendly. I absolutely love the fact that they are not afraid to call us out on our arrogance, ignorance and just lack of patience in a gentle, humorous way. I have learned a lot and I know I have a lot more to learn from Jenna and Shaun ❤️.

Ive visited a few CrossFit affiliates around the country and I have been amazed by the wide variety of quality Ive encountered. Ive visited some that I would NEVER return to and others that I really enjoyed, but Ive never been to another affiliate quite like Hoosier CrossFit. The quality of the programming, the coaching, and the facility/equipment are second to none. Im amazed that a gym of its size can operate with such an incredibly high level of quality control. The coaches ensure safety, proper technique, and optimal performance for every member, for every class.The people are pretty great too! I have a ton of close personal friends from HCF. The community aspect of CrossFit is one of its biggest assets.Hoosier CrossFit is great, definitely the best affiliate in Bloomington!!

I arrived at HAC unable to get my toes off the floor when I jumped. I had daily body pain and poor self-image. Shaun and Jenna, the coaches there, taught me to leave my ego at the door and do my best every day. They say the biggest part of the battle is showing up.I have been training at HAC on and off for four years. I had to take some time to recover from multiple surgical procedures which landed me back at my initial starting point--unable to jump and uncomfortable with my body. But I checked my ego, showed up and, through Shaun and Jennas attention to scaling and meeting every body where it is daily, I have surpassed every measurable strength and fitness milestone is achieved before life put me back through the ringer.I am healthy, but even more importantly I know I am capable. That mental strength continues to be my biggest takeaway from HAC.

When my wife and I moved to Bloomington a bit over a year ago, HCF was the first community we found. It helped us maintain our sanity as we adjusted to life in a new place and has become an integral part of our lives. Shaun and Jenna are both skilled, detail-oriented coaches who make sure that you not only get a killer workout but that youre performing each movement with proper mechanics.The HCF community is hard-working, supportive, and fun, and its hard for me to imagine doing CrossFit anywhere else. Not sure its possible to put into words what this gym does for, not just me, but everyone involved here in Bloomington, IN. If you want to change your life, set goals, crush those goals, set more, and crush those as well.... COME TO HCF. Everyone goes out of their way to make you feel welcome the moment you walk in. I know, you might be thinking its too hard, or too intense. Trust me, thats not the case. Yes, there are folks who get fired up but generally theyre getting fired up for you while they cheer you on, not themselves. Crossfit is so unique in that most of the time, the biggest cheers are not for the people who finish first.... But for the people finishing last. Its unlike anything youll ever encounter and I promise you wont regret coming to try out this exceptional gym. The only regret you may have is the same one everyone else experiences... I was fairly vocal about everything that was wrong with Crossfit and why you shouldnt do it. Well after years of trying to program workouts at the gym that would keep me motivated and provide results I finally decided to talk to Shaun and Jenna at HCF.I have been there for about 5 months now and the only regret I have is not starting Crossfit earlier! It is so cool to be able to just show up for a workout and already have it designed. All I have to do is work! Shaun and Jenna are great coaches who get to know you fairly quickly and can help with scaling the workout to your abilities.Dont let the internet chatter about how bad Crossfit is stop you from trying it. It is infinitely scalable and you will get in the best overall physical shape of your life. Leave your ego at the door and come and build relationships with a great group of people. This is not like doing other group workouts where everyone tries to do the same thing that the fitness trainer is doing from a stage. These guys really do coach you. They will correct, encourage, and help you be successful in the gym.Its obvious I could go on and on, so just come out and try it!

Hoosier Crossfit is not just a gym. Its a safe place where you can go and leave all your stress behind for an hour a day. Shaun and Jenna are amazing coaches and with Shauns programming, this place is the best crossfit gym I have ever been to. They are there for all of their members, whether you have no experience, are starting back after an injury, are planning on becoming a professional crossfit athlete, or you just want a place where you can work out. The time they spend to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome is elucidated in the tight community where everyone matters. This is the place I call my second home. It got me through graduate school, and now it gets me through the start of my professional career.I had knee surgery a year ago (completely unrelated to crossfit) and starting back at the gym was very difficult. I couldnt perform all of the movements and even though Shaun and Jenna helped me scale everything accordingly, I was getting frustrated since I just felt like I wasnt getting better. Shaun offered me personal programming to get me back into classes where he programmed workouts to help me regain strength gradually. A couple of months later, I am back in classes with minimal scaling on the movements and almost back to my old self.If you are looking for a gym like no other, look no further. Give Hoosier Crossfit a try!! You will not be disappointed. #inshaunwetrust

Being new to Crossfit, I didnt know what to expect walking into Hoosier Crossfit. I started out with Crossfit Light, and loved the fast-paced workouts. After a couple of weeks, I was encouraged to sign up for their On-Ramp course. I am so glad I did! Ive never been challenged more than I am with their programming. The coaches genuinely care about you and your journey to meet your goals. Coach Heather knows how to give you just the amount of push you need to get past those mental blocks and help you see that you CAN do it! Mobility is an essential part of each and every workout, and if youre having issues with a body part or are injured, they are the best at working with you to keep you active and moving. Last but not least, the community theyve created at Hoosier Crossfit is the most amazing group of people Ive ever met. They truly are like a big family and I feel blessed to be a part of it.
