Their beloved chef is a walking health code violation. The dirtiest person in the kitchen! Do not trust his food! Ive witness him drop a pan of dinner rolls, pick it up and continue to use em for the meal. Ive watched him grab food from the trash and serve it to a resident. He doesnt wash his hands and touches any and every thing including his private area and STILL manages the food! Hes rude and inconsiderate to other peoples feelings especially his coworkers. Hes like an inside out sour patch kid. Seems sweet, really is sour, and is still there. I would NOT recommend his food. OR working there.

I wish all people could be cared for in this way. They have a great approach to caring for people with Dementia. And as for as not hiring people of color that’s not true. They do but they want very educated people with a wide knowledge base of Dementia. It is a specialty field,And you have to talk clear and have a gentle touch. My mom will be moving in very soon and I can sleep at night knowing she will have the best care possible.

I don’t know where to begin. My dad was in a memory care unit and was starting to display frisky behavior because he suffered from Alzheimer’s and the facility he was in recommended a men’s only unit. My family met with the owners of Wealshire of Medina and they said that they felt my dad could go into general population at their facility. That lasted five days and then the behavior continued and they had to separate him from the General population. They gave my sister 24 hours to figure out what to do and they ended up shipping him off to their facility in Bloomington, well over 50 miles away from his family. They promised it would be a short term solution, but my dad ended up being there for a little over a year until he died. He had a stroke in late February and I flew up in early March & I spent five days with him. During that time he was in the same clothes morning noon and night & they had misplaced his glasses. And then Covid hit & everything was on lockdown. I called my dad several times between March and July but he wasn’t able hold a conversation so it was clear to me that he was at the end of his life. When the visitation resumed after the Covid shut down my family visited him and his glasses were still missing. And then on Thursday, August 13, I don’t know what happened but my dad ended up falling and breaking his hip. He went to the hospital without his teeth or glasses because the staff did not know where they were and the facility lacked in keeping track of those possessions. As it turned out they sent the wrong pair of glasses to the hospital with my dad and my family had to return them to the facility while my dad was laying in the hospital dying. I do not know what happened that led to him falling at the facility and breaking his hip, but I do know that was what led to his death. I do not know if there was mistreatment or anything like that going on. All I know is that my dad was not receiving the proper care for the $8300 dollars we were paying every month to care for him. He basically had a bed to sleep on and 3 meals & a bed. They were not even bathing him or changing his clothes for at least six months before he died. I live out of state and so I can’t speak to what went on before that. I would like to open an investigation and see if there is any camera footage of what went on in the facility the night that he fell and broke his hip. I would also like to know why he did not have his glasses or dentures while he laid on his deathbed. I have several videos of him talking to me but I couldn’t understand what he was saying because he didn’t have his teeth. And in the midst of that the facility made my sister drive 50+ miles out of her way to take the pair of eyeglasses that did not belong to my dad back to the facility, but it was not in exchange for his own glasses. My dad fell and broke his hip the evening of Thursday, August 13 and he died just before 8:00 AM on the morning of August 19. If you are considering placing a family member at this facility, I urge you to do your due diligence and if you end up placing a family member there, I urge you to be their advocate and visit frequently to see what is going on and how they are being cared for. I would not recommend Wealshire of Medina or Bloomington. They made promises to my family to get him there and sign the contract and within a week they could not fulfill their promises but we were locked into a contract and had no other options. I feel they took advantage of my father and my family & that they stole over $8000 per month from him and did not provide near the amount of care that should’ve been provided at that rate. They could not even keep track of his eyeglasses and dentures. I would have given anything for Dad to have his dentures so I could understand what he was saying to me on his deathbed. I am angry and outraged. I would give anything to relive the last 12 hours of his life with his dentures so I could’ve understood what he was saying. Knowing him he was probably telling me that Wealshire Of Bloomington were nothing but thieves.

My father had great care here by individuals who went out of their way to make his life more enjoyable. There were several people of color there when he was there for over a year and a half, and management seemed to care a great deal. He left 6 months ago, but the consistency I witnessed in the year and a half while he lived there makes me feel confident in recommending Wealshire for your loved one.

When I toured Wealshire as a place for my wife who suffered from the late stages of Alzheimers, I was immediately impressed. Before this I had never seen a nursing facility that I liked. The facility had been constructed recently with the intent of serving only patients diagnosed with a form of dementia. The different wards were populated with patients evaluated as being at a similar stage of dementia. The individual rooms are grouped around spacious common areas where the patients spend much of their waking time in group activities and meals. My first impressions were confirmed when we placed my wife in Wealshire. Unfortunately she passed away after being a resident at Wealshire for a little over a month. However during that time I found the staff professional and made an effort to meet the needs of the patients in respectful and patient way. I was particularly impressed by all of the staff knowing the first names of all of the patients from day one. I was also impressed by the number and variety of group activities that took place every day. A solid five stars in my opinion.

UPDATE: I am repulsed by the petty comments from past employees/staff who felt the need to review Wealshire negatively due to their own inability to do or hold a job. This facility is BEYOND fabulous, and their staff has been nothing short of heroes during this COVID pandemic. My mom was moved in one week before lock down, and they have been a godsend to both her, and our family. Every single person on staff there has picked up the slack and done things that are way above and beyond their job responsibilities, since they had to refrain from having others coming in to do activities with the residents due to health restrictions. They take this virus extremely seriously, and have gone out of their way to get the technology required for families to be able to do Facetime/Zoom/Skype sessions with our loved ones. You can imagine how busy they must be, scurrying from one residents room to another, getting everyone connected and staying with them until their chat session is over. This, on top of all their regular duties. They do it all with a smile and so much love for the residents. My mom is so very fortunate to have such kind, loving, skillful staff caring for her. They are there to give her a hug and a smile when she is feeling blue and lonely, and it is clear that they love their jobs. I will NEVER be able to sufficiently convey my gratitude to them - it had to be very confusing and terrifying for these elderly folks to all of a sudden not have any visitors, and some with more severe dementia must have been so terribly sad and depressed, not knowing what was happening. We are now finally able to visit for short times, outdoors, socially distanced and masked, etc. and the fact that we are able to do this, is COMPLETELY thanks to the staff keeping everyone safe and healthy during this horrible time of COVID-19. Wealshire of Bloomington is an absolutely wonderful place.Great place with an abundance of care nurses and activity staff! The surroundings are bright and cheerful and it makes it MUCH less worrisome to know my mom is in such a nice, pretty, clean and active place!

VERY understaffed. VERY unprofessional owner and management. PISS POOR CARES. WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for the cares your loved one will actually get. Super friendly management at first but you will be written off as soon as you move in. I could write a book about all the terrible things about this place but you get the point. SO incredibly terrible. Dont let the beautiful building trick you!!!

My father was there for 2 years before he passed away. The staff was extremely caring. We often came in, especially near the end, and found a staff person just sitting holding his hand. He couldnt talk anymore, but he seemed to find it very comforting. When he first got there, he enjoyed the live music, the games and the fat golden retrievers that are in residence. The staff was wonderfully caring about how my Mom was doing without my dad at home too, and took the time to chat with her. Dad was always physically well cared for too, clean, wearing clean clothes, shaven, and they did physical therapy with him for as long as he could manage. We cant say enough good things about this fantastic place and were very happy with his care.

Wealshire of Bloomington is a racist place. They dont hire immigrants who have an accent because according to them , their residents won’t be able to understand. They tell people to go work on their accents and reapply.

I am not employed by Wealshire. But I do work in healthcare and I have been working with the staff/residents of the Wealshire for 3 years. The residents are very well cared for. Most of the staff is very consistent, so your getting the same aides/nurses on the floor almost everyday. Another thing to note is although they are an assisted living they have nurses on every floor for almost every shift (which you do not see in most assisted livings), it is an extra comfort measure knowing that they have trained nurses handing out medications and trained nurses to know what to look for if someone is changing. The nurses and aides make connections with the residents an truly care for them. Because of my job, I have been to A LOT of different facilities around the twin cities and have seen the good, bad and the very bad. I would not hesitate to reccomend this place for my family or loved ones because I know they would be well cared for.

I worked here for one year as a certified nursing assistant. The Wealshire is an okay place for residents and management. However, my wife got pregnant and I had to quit because family insurance became $1000 a month. Do not work here, the CEO, Tom, is a very greedy man and told me if he would ever open a 401K he would not even have his company match it. I would not send my mother here due to the fact that if a company cannot take care of its employees, how can it take care of residents?

Lets start from the beginning ? Got pulled into the office in Oct stating that I had $1 raise. The company wage for CNA is $17 NOW so it was a company raise. My 90 days was also in Oct. I had a raise for my 90 days review. Although DON told me that I wont get my raise until Jan 1. I asked why? and she told me that because I just got $1 raise. SOOO. I just brushed off my shoulder. I went again and asked a couple months later when will I get my raise again? for a reminder My 90 days.. DON had stated that my raise wasnt until Jan 7th. I was confused and thought I heard Jan 1 last time with the DON that gave me my review. although .. this DON wasnt the one that gave me a review. she also said that my 90 days review was in Oct and that I shouldve got my raise already. Later that day she pulled me into the office and had said and corrected me because I had a raise in Oct , I wont get a raise until Jan 7. Although, little did she know ;) that I knew something she dont. OTHER COWORKERS STARTED AFTER ME got their 90 days review raise right away and was going to receive another raise in Jan 7. Idk I felt like that was unfair and felt that probably thats why they held my 90 days raise till Jan 7. I went and complained why I didnt get a raise? They told me and explained so everything is under control now. Whatever... whatever.. Director of Operations told me that they dont give raises based on performance or attendance, its something else. I understood everything. They stated dementia level 4 on their website As the disease progesses and the resident requires more hands on care, the staff to resident ratio will be higher. e.g 1 staff to 4 residents ratio is 1:4. I worked on the floor where it varies more than 1:4! Sometimes, 1:6, 7,8,9,10,11,12, 13 and SO ON. In my opinion, I am such a hardworker and I did have a good attendance and always went above and beyond. I know that other coworkers have bad attendance call in 2 times within 90 days and is always late to work but got a raise? OR lazy cowokers would put 2 - 3 residents to bed and got a raise? However, they put me in another unit where residents refused me. Dont like me because of my skin color and of course. Nothing I can do. I needed help, change of face went to the other side of the unit and asked for helped. Nurse and Cowoker got into it. Nurse purposely slammed the door into cowokers face and now coworker has a huge bump on her forehead. I called the next day and let them know that I was the WITNESS, saw everything. They fired me over the phone for something else. Very unprofessional. Couldve pulled me into the office. Coincidence ... my raise Jan 7 ... I was a witness of the problem Jan 10 .. they let me go Jan 12. I wouldnt trust to even put my mom or dad or anybody in this place. :)
