Im writing specifically about my experience with Dr Edgar Martinez who has given me back my life. Previously I was with Dr Earl Craig who ignored my concerns to such a degree that I was bedridden for almost 2 years. When I heard that another Pain doctor was moving to Bloomington, I jumped on it and I was not disappointed. Dr Martinez is courteous, friendly, informative and most of all sympathetic. He never pushed a pain medication on me. He informed me of options for procedures, describing in detail and answering my questions on the way. When it became clear that my condition had progressed to a point in which a second opinion was needed, he was not afraid to ask. And Im glad he did, because it turned out that I was actually slightly overdue for a back surgery. I can walk again. I can play with my children. I can sit in a chair. None of these things could have happened without his sharp eye and deep concern for my well being.

If I could give a .1 star rating, I would. My husband saw Dr. Martinez, virtually, for his first appointment. The Dr. said he would call the out-of-state hospital that had my husbands MRI images (the Dr. was given the written report) prior to his in-person appointment. Upon seeing him in person today, Dr. Martinez didnt even do a range of motion test but merely touched my husbands back in two spots before prescribing physical therapy. He also forgot that my husband was a self-pay patient and when my husband asked for something stronger than Gabapentin, he was told there was something stronger but they needed to conduct a drug screen at the absurd price of $600!!!!!! We are very disappointed in the lack of thorough and quality care received.

My mom was seen by dr martinez and she loved him. She has a serious back condition which he was able to help with medication and injections.

I have never been to a pain clinic before, so I did not know what to expect. When the Doctor came in, he seemed distracted. His listening skills were poor with a dismissive attitude. The exam was barely cursory. He came up with a plan and left the room. That was a week ago, and the plan has not been implemented even after several phone calls on my part. The last time I called, I was not called back. I’m afraid, because of the seeming disinterest in my care that I have had to unnecessarily suffer. I understand that we need gate keepers, but if you take on that role, you need to be responsible, compassionate stewards.

The absolute most unprofessional experience I’ve ever encountered in my life! First, this office will NEVER answer their phone. You will leave many voicemails for multiple days and maybe you’ll get a call back, often times you don’t. I met with the doctor on my first visit, Dr Martinez, and had very high hopes of finally getting treatment for the worst pain I’ve ever experienced in my life. Dr. Martinez is a young, and very intelligent young man who I thought would be my savior. Unfortunately, it turned out he wasn’t. On my second visit, I was given a bottle to provide a urine sample. I stepped into the restroom and gave my sample and sat the bottle on the counter over the sink. As I was tidying up, I happened to see urine running all over the sink. In a moment of panic, I grabbed the bottle and started to catch the urine running off of the counter. It didn’t do any good considering the bottle had a massive crack in it. I opened the door and informed the nurse of this major problem and her response was to just leave the bottle and they would attempt to pour any remaining contents into another bottle and peel my sticker from the bested bottle. This apparently was done after I left.A week later, I received a voicemail from this office stating I had failed my urine sample due to it testing positive for ALCOHOL and that Dr. Martinez would no longer be able to prescribe me medication. Mind you, I have a very serious nerve issue and living with a category 7-10 pain level with severe sciatica. I had not drank any alcohol for at least 3 months so this was a bit shocking to me.I attempted to call this office for a month straight and could never get through and they wouldn’t return my requests for a call back. Finally, 28 days later I finally have received a call. They informed me they are well aware of what happened with my urine sample but that there is nothing they can do. It should be (maybe it is and I don’t know) illegal for an office to use a damaged sample. I did explain to the office I had been using cold/flu medicine nightly to help me sleep because sleeping was difficult due to the pain (sleep medicine can cause a false positive for alcohol). The nurse said that it didn’t matter because I didn’t inform the doctor I was taking cold medicine. The odd thing is I was never told I needed to tell the doctor about simple over the counter meds. I mean really, does anyone tell their Dr. they took a tylenol or a dose of cold medicine? That’s just not realistic unless you were told to do so.So here I am now with an absolute BS entry into my medical report that will most likely hinder my ability to get the treatment that I need all because of the actions of this Doctors office. There are other reviews here that say they have zero compassion for their patients. I read them before I went there for treatment, and certainly wish I had listened. It baffles me that a large organization such as IU Health would allow an office to operate in the manner this one does. There is a very sincere lack of operational management at this facility. Find ANYWHERE but this place to seek treatment.

I only gave 2 stars because the lady at the front desk and Dr. Craigs nurse are wonderful. Otherwise I would have wanted to give 0 stars. Dr. Craig seemed to have little or no humanity. I dont know why he is in the profession he is in. He clearly cares nothing about his patients.

My orthopedist recommended me to have spinal injections here. My pain level was at a true 10! Not only did the center schedule me quickly, but they were also incredibly compassionate and accommodating. Dr. Lysandrou was the most caring, compassionate and SKILLED physician I could have imagined. My pain lessened immediately, and after my second injection, the pain disappeared completely. Those injections were given two years ago, and i remain pain-free. Thank you, Dr. Lysandrou and staff!
