Above and beyond. Those are the words that come to mind re: our mother’s care team at Missouri Slope these past weeks. It is the staff’s tender care and patience that allowed her to rally and make the extraordinary improvements she has made, which now make it possible for her to return home. That was our fervent wish for her and the talented team at this facility have helped make that possible. They’re truly the “A” team. Thanks aren’t enough, but “thank you!” anyway.—Rich, Ann, Rob, and Tilman Hovland

I have greatly enjoyed my time with Missouri Slope and Valley View Heights. I have developed some wonderful friendships. have had the privilege of meeting/caring for some amazing residents/tenants and have grown into several roles with the company. I has been a wonderful employment experience so far and I look forward to the future!!

I have enjoyed working at Missouri Slope the last 6 1/2 years! I started my career as a CNA & then continued as a nurse during my time. I would recommend this facility to anyone that asks

As a current employee of Missouri Slope while I find the facility very understaffed in terms of nursing assistants at times I absolutely LOVE my job and the residents I care for. For over three years I’ve had the privilege of taking care of the most amazing people, hearing about life stories, comforting them on the darkest of days and loving them as if family. If only wage was a bit higher when short staffed to compensate for the level of work needed to be picked up for lack of staff but the daily wage is higher then pretty much any other facility. All in all while money is important and we all have families to support my time loving, caring and being there for the residents I care for is irreplaceable and no amount of money can match the “thank you”, hugs and words of praise I have received from residents families for a job well done because they realize how much work goes into it all. You take the good with the bad because NO PLACE and NO JOB is perfect. ❤️

This has been a great care center to work for. Missouri Slope and Valley View Heights staff are friendly and welcoming. It is a privilege to serve the adult vulnerable citizens in our community.

Their hiring process is very unprofessional. They call me in for an interview. Interview went well but I wasnt okay with hourly wages they offered to me, so the lady that interviewed me said she would have to call my former employer from 9 years back. She called me a couple days later and tell me she couldnt find them. I told her to Google them. Four months has gone by and havent heard anything from Missouri slope, so I decided to stopped by. The lady that previously interviewed me told me she was gone for 4 months and no one replaced her. She said the HR shouldve sent me a rejection letter. I called the HR they told me that my previous employer is not picking up or calling them back. So they decided not to hire me for that, while they called my current employer that Ive been with for almost 6 years now and got good reference. They also asked me to reapply! What exactly am I going to put on this application that is different from the old application? What if I was okay with the wages offered? I really think they never call my former employer and I found it hard to believe that an hiring employee can leave a job for 4 months and not have replacement. Im good at my, never been fired from a job and I always leave the job in good terms. All in all, I know my worth and Missouri Slope does not deserve me and my services. I feel sorry for their residents because lazy management failed to hire caring and compassionate caregivers like me.

I saw my aunt yesterday. The staff in the kitchen was very nice and made me feel welcome to eat with my aunt when I decided to eat with her instead of leaving right at dinner time. Also, the staff was very nice and friendly during my visit.

This facility used to be a great, caring facility. In the last few years, it has lost its focus on their core business. The leadership at MSLCC (Missouri Slope) has focused time, energy, and more importantly, money on building a new facility. The new facility is referred to as “state of the art”. I don’t think that will include adequate staffing. The current facility is woefully understaffed. CNAs have frequently had to care for 30+ residents each on evening and night shifts. That’s 30+ people to feed, change, and assist. If your loved one needs help eating or drinking, you better plan on doing it yourself. If you don’t, they will become dehydrated and wither away. Due to the consistent staff shortages, the administration has resorted to floating their staff throughout the facility. A resident may have a different CNA caring for them every single day. These CNAs do not have time to read the Care Plans for each of the residents they care for each shift. This results in unnecessary safety risks including falls. The leadership has been unable or not willing to provide their employees with the necessary information and incentives to get vaccinated against COVID. The unvaccinated staff have relied on social media for their information. The result is that MSLCC has consistently led the state in active COVID cases. And that means the facility is closed to visitors. Closed to visitors for most of the time since March, 2020. In isolation. That’s a long time to go without the touch of a loved one.
