I was told I qualified for LASIK despite my high prescription, I was assured that my corneal thickness was adequate to have LASIK done. I drove home from the beach early to have procedure, picked up all medications and arrived for my procedure only to be told that the surgeon didn’t want to do it because of my high prescription. I questioned this multiple times during the initial visit and sure enough, he reviewed my records just before I was due to have procedure done, I was already medicated, signed consent forms and sitting in waiting room drowsy from med, and was told they are refunding my money and can’t do it. Honestly I appreciate that he wouldn’t if he felt like there would not be a good outcome. But my chart should have been reviewed before my surgery date and then let me know before driving over an hour just to be sent back home. Everyone there was very professional and nice but this could have been handled differently.

Legally Blind Now in one eye. Told that I should be fine but immediately started having issues right after the surgery. The Doctor that actually does the surgery is not from Birmingham, he lives and practices out of Panama City, FL. He only comes to Birmingham every two weeks and does ALL of the surgeries during that time. Its like a cow mill. I Was sent to a Specialist in Atlanta GA, had to use the $100,000.00 eye drops Oxervate and still legally blind in one eye. Even Lost my job cause I could not see to do and the worst part of it, I never heard Im sorry or even receive a refund. Now I have to wear a pair of contacts that cost over a Grand each year and the supplies that I have to buy monthly for them are very costly. I would honestly go to a specialist if you want Lasik instead of this Eye Mill. They make you sign all of this paperwork that rules out any kind of suit if it goes bad. People really need to go see a specialist for this surgery. Just Saying.

Staff worked with my busy schedule extremely well. Everyone was extremely friendly and made the experience so much better. Procedure was painless and my vision was corrected to better than 20/20! What an amazing experience from initial consult to final post op follow up. The two people I interacted with the most were Stuart who handled all my questions, concerns, and made sure I was taken care of from the minute I walked in until I left and even in between visits whenever I had a question. Next up was Dr. McGuire, she loves her job and truly cares about the patient experience, so pleasant when she walks in the room, just really made the overall experience over the top. I live in Florida and made the trip to Birmingham on a recommendation and so happy I did after sharing my experience with others who had surgery locally. I had an excellent experience at the LASIK Vision Institute of Birmingham. The staff were friendly and answered all of my questions and concerns about the LASIK procedure. The procedure itself was relatively simple and the surgeon talked me through each step of the procedure. The best part of all is that less than 24 hours after my procedure my vision was corrected to 20/15!!!! Coming from someone who was -6.50/-7.00 in glasses this was incredibly life changing! All of the staff and doctors that work at this location are generous, professional, and are abiding by the CDC guidelines whenever possible.One little side note: bring something warm if you get cold easily. I usually enjoy cold, but its real cold in there. Im talking my diamonds became diamond tipped drill.

I had my surgery one week ago today and it was a wonderful experience! The staff are extremely nice and professional, my surgery went well, and my recovery was a breeze. By my 1 week follow-up appointment I was seeing 20/15, if not a little bit better! I felt absolutely no pain during the procedure but did have some discomfort the evening of my surgery, which is to be expected as your eyes recover. However, 36-48 hours after my surgery I felt no pain or discomfort at all! I would highly recommended LVI and I’m so excited by my results!

I was a little apprehensive to spend the money to have this procedure done. I’m 37 and have worn glasses/contacts for the last 20 years so I wasn’t sure it would be worth it. However after the consultation (my husband and I both) we decided to have it done. The process was super easy and the procedure itself was painless. Had Lasik done yesterday and wow what a difference! I have just arrived for the day after follow up and Im so excited to throw away my glasses! If you want x-ray vision or be able to shoot lasers out of your eyes this isnt the place to go but if you want to be able to see better without glasses than you can with glasses this is the place to go! I would recommend lasik to anyone! I went from being blind as a bat to having 20/20 vision. I got tired of wearing contacts and glasses and now I see even better than with my contacts! I will say that the healing time is about 2 -3 weeks and your vision gradually gets better, its not instant. After about 3 months my vision was completely 20/20.

I CAN SEE!!!!there’s something amazing about being given the ability to see the world without any help....When your telling someone that depends on contacts or glasses to see, they don’t seem very excited. The LASIK Vision Institute in Birmingham is an amazing place to have LASIK eye surgery performed or just an regular routine eye exam. The workers are all very friendly and professional. I had LASIK surgery performed here. They’re super calming when you come in and try to make you as comfortable as possible. When I had the surgery completed, one eye went perfectly fine but I tensed my eye just a little bit on the second eye and the cut on the cornea didn’t turn out just as the surgeon wanted so he decided wait until that eye healed to proceed because he did not want to perform the surgery unless it was perfect. All I had to do was wait one month and come back to have it redone on my left eye for no charge and no harm to my vision. They really know what they are doing. I would highly recommend them to anyone that asks.
