Dr. Heck’s office on Valleydale Rd. is handier to get into without a lot of walking. I would have had to get a wheelchair for Grandview office. All the people are super friendly and helpful at both these locations. They are helpful, respectful and all around professional. They make the visit more pleasant.

No one wants to break a bone, but unfortunately life happens. I broke my ankle and 3 metatarsals in May 2021. I was referred to a doctor at Brookwood, but it was going to be a week before he could see me. I couldn’t wait a week! So I called Southlake and Dr. Kirchner could see me the following day! When I met him, I knew I was in good hands. He thoroughly explained the surgery I needed, how long I’d be out of commission so to speak, and what to expect when I was able to bear weight again. He even has a great bedside manner! I had my last appointment with him yesterday. And I’m well on my way to “normalcy” again! I highly recommend Dr. Kirchner for your orthopedic needs. He’s extremely knowledgeable and probably one of the best surgeons out there!

Dr. Heck is kind and explains, Laura his PA is very thorough and Heather is always a delight to talk to and makes you feel important!

It was very easy to check in on my second visit because all of the information and paperwork was completed on the first visit. My second visit went very efficiently. The front desk was very polite and the nursing staff also was very helpful. Dr Heck explained the procedure and what to expect.

Dr. Kirchner and his entire staff are awesome. I had joint replacement surgery the end of May. Rachel his PA, Emily, Addison are all very caring and professional. I highly recommend the entire group. Dr. Kirchner and your staff are the best.

Southlake Orthopaedics provides World Class Professionalism and care. Dr. Bonatz is arguably the best in his profession. The first picture on the right is when I first broke my wrist. The last three pictures are my x-ray and incisions which improved within 14days post-op.

Dr. Heck is very thorough and has a great personality. He used an a analogy to explain my medical condition which helped me to visualize the problem. He also listened to my concerns and asked me questions to further diagnose.

I had excellent medical care at south lake my Surgeon Dr. Bonatz , in my opinion is a man of few words, but is an excellent and very knowledgeable hand surgeon., one of the best if not the best in Alabama.

The staff is always helpful and courteous and Dr Kirchner is always willing to take the time to listen and then fully discuss your concerns and plan of care to start you on the healing process!

Pre-op experience was prompt, efficient & courteous. This provides expectation of the same at the time of surgery.

After waiting an hour and a 45 minutes to see a DR., I was prescribed medicine that I had an allergic reaction to (and couldnt use). Then they sent me to collections after 90 days over a $35 debt and they didnt even try to contact me about paying the balance prior to doing so ALL DURING COVID. I didnt even know that medical billing could be FINAL in under 90 days!!!The people might be nice, but the way this place operates is terrible. Find somewhere else to go where you will be treated like a human being.And before you accuse me of being a deadbeat lowlife, I have a stellar credit score and always pay. I wouldnt wish this treatment on anyone.

This was my first visit with Dr. Kirchner, and I found him to be very thorough, caring, and professional in his consultation of my concerns. The staff was friendly and professional as well.

My only problem with Southlake Orthopaedic on my first visit was timing. My Appointment was scheduled for 9:15am and I didn’t get in to see the doctor until 10:30. I’m not sure if this is usual or not. I was pleased with the staff and Dr. Heck. However, I feel that we all have things scheduled and we need to understand that.

Dr. Bonatz is very knowledgeable and was encouraged that I have made improvement. I asked him for hand therapy he was happy to recommend it!

Everyone here is so sweet and Dr Kirchner is great. I feel so cared about here and that makes a difference.

This location did amazing for me and kids! I came to this location first for my broke foot. And i knew i defiantly wanted my kids to go here. My son had a nail go through his foot due to a lawnmower. And they went above and beyond for him and did amazing job in surgury. And was able to save his foot from infection. My daughter comes here for sport injuries and again the staff from the front office to the back with the specialist are completely amazing.... I am very picky when it comes to where my kids go. And i would give this place a 20 star if i could!!!!

I have dealt with sciatic nerve pain for at least 6 years. I have tried anti-inflammatory meds, steroid shots, epidurals, chiropractors, and even physical therapy. NOTHING has stopped the pain like the surgery has so far!!! Im 3 months out from surgery now. I was soooo skeptical about having ANY KIND of back surgery, because I had heard soooo many horror stories of people being left in worse pain afterward. However, for me, this is the most successful thing I have done, for my pain. By the Grace of God, and Dr. Hecks knowledge, talent and ability, I am having a MUCH better quality of life! Thank you, Dr. Heck and staff! I have already referred at least 4 people to this practice! I know one is already scheduled for surgery soon! I hope this helps someone else that might be trying to decide. And I hope you have great success, if you do!

Treated very disrespectful when trying to explain why I missed a follow up appointment. Received an email several days before appointment requesting to confirm appointment and I DID NOT CONFIRM thinking it would automatically cancel appointment. Day of appointment got another email asking to confirm but I didnt notice email until after appointment time so I called. The phone menu listed every option thinkable except how to cancel appointment so I selected option to make an appointment. The person answering my call wouldnt listen and kept insulting me for for missing the appointment so I finally hung up because I wasnt getting anywhere.

Very efficient and did not wait long at all. Very pleased with this group. I will refer friends and family.

I will never grace the doors of this MOST insufficient place of medical service...Words cannot express the anger and disappointment I feel...most inept staff and doctor wasnt that much better....I stayed over two hours with 0 help...please do not waste your time or copay to visit this excuse of a practice!

Unparalleled level of excellence, professional, empathetic practice! Went to see them after a fall down some stairs. They worked me In immediately and the Doctor and his staff (nurses, orthotic staff and receptionists) have been more than kind and provided excellent care! Southlake Orthopaedics has provided a level of care that is what you hope for when in pain! This is the practice that employs kind Doctors that truly listen! They have the education and experience you can trust with all levels of surgery and orthopaedic care. Our family has trusted them with past injuries and problems that included very serious emergency spinal surgery with Dr.Talbert, shoulder surgery, hand pain, Dr. Smith, this fall , Dr. Kirchner, and pain issues with the best of the best, Dr. William Craig!! This is the only practice I would ever trust with our orthopaedic care!! I wish I could give them TEN stars!

Dr. Kirchner and Megan are fantastic. I went in with a non functioning right leg with foot drop so badly amputation was recommended. Dr. Kirchner saw the foot and ankle and said he could save it. I have saved my leg and will walk on it. Without the staff at Dr. Kirchner office I would have lost my leg. Kudos to Emily as well she is the guru of insurance and surgery scheduling. If you need a fantastic surgeron that can work miracles this is your place.

I had surgery on my hand a few weeks ago. They said paying out of pocket would be cheaper than paying the deductible on my insurance. I paid $800+ then when I went to my post-op visit they charged me another $88 saying that’s what the insurance didn’t pay. They make you think you are saving money and that you’ve paid in full before the surgery, then then find a way to suck more money out of you. Super shady, money greedy, I don’t recommend coming here for healthcare.
