After explaining my wife’s symptoms of pain in her knees & swelling of her feet, paying our copay, and waiting for 30 minutes outside, I was told they don’t have any imaging devices & couldn’t provide any type of help dealing with pain & then referred her to the ER at Highlands when the Delta variant is running rampant. Will never return to this so called urgent care.

My visit on June 28 while I was sick proved to be useless, I got no treatment and no prescriptions to help me get better because they wanted to wait in the results for my COVID test. They were going to call me later that day with the results and never did. Every time I called them the receptionists which were very unhelpful just said if they had not called the results were not in yet. The next day when I called again they finally told me the results were negative, when I asked if I could speak to a doctor about calling in some prescriptions now to help me fell better, my request was put in and they would “call me back”. Two days In and I’m out the time and energy I don’t have from being sick and the money for the visit and I’m as empty handed as when I started. Horrible service from start to finish will not be going back ever.

I had extremely low vitamin D levels. They refused to see me, telling me I needed to go to UAB emergency room. They informed me that I was having a stroke. I told them I could not afford this, I’m in my twenties and relatively healthy. Yet no doctor saw me, no one even examined me and now I have so much medical debt that I can barely afford to feed myselfAnother time, I had a PA flirt with me during my duration. I had a nasty cold and it was not appropriate nor warranted. I’m a patient. That is all. He gave me his number. I cannot express how uncomfortable I was.Lastly, on a slow day, they straight up forgot me. I waited five hours and only upon using the restroom did they remember me. They apologize and admitted they forget me.I understand that we are all humans and this is not reflective of everyone staffed. However, being sent to the emergency without anyone even looking at me (this was during Covid so I told my symptoms through the phone). When I followed up with my primary physician, she said she had never heard of anyone being refused by an Urgent Care office.

Me and my boyfriend had been exposed to Covid and wanted to get tested.. we came here and after explaining that we wanted to get tested because we had been exposed.. WE WERE DENIED SERVICE!! I understand it’s a pandemic abs no one wants Covid but this is a urgent care facility, with nurses and doctors. And their reasoning was because they didn’t want to expose anyone but there were no other patients inside or at least in the waiting room to my knowledge. How are we suppose to get help when the people who are suppose to help us REFUSE US SERVICE! we won’t ever return here again. Other people beware because if you think you have Covid they will refuse to test you.

I love seeing NP Spencer and Dr.Johnson. The staff is great as well.NP Spencer always takes good care of me!

Everyone was nice. They actually helped me instead of just trying to push me out of the room (people who have had to go through the health system for years understand what I mean by that). The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was because my condition is rare and the doctor admitted to not understanding it enough, but the honesty was much appreciated.Edit : Slightly changing my review. My first review is still correct for my first visit. My second visit went a lot worse (different doctor treated me). She didnt care what about anything I said relating to what I came in for. She preformed an incision and drainage procedure with very little numbing agent. When I expressed this via my screams in pain , she didnt care. She just had people hold me down to the table. She proceeded to pack the area but i was in to much pain so she stopped and said Im not putting anymore because you dont seem to tolerate this part well (mentioned this part because in my discharge paperwork she said I tolerated everything well & there was no problems). After that she just walked out of the room and had the nurse tell me to leave. (The nurses were excellent just like last time). This particular doctor is who you want to watch out for because if you get the one I had on my second trip then I feel very sorry for you.

Usually I have a good experience here. Not today, though.I have a hernia. When I spoke with the uab surgeon who did my other hernia surgery I was told if it wasn’t poking out it wasn’t an emergency and to go to my pcp or the urgent care to be seen. She said if the pain got worse I could go to the ER.Since I knew I wouldn’t be able to see my pcp on short notice I went back to the urgent care who told me to come back today and they could most likely get me into the Kirklin clinic to get imaging done the same day. I showed up at 7 this morning and was the first in line. I’m guessing everyone who worked there was late since they were late answering the phone (the woman came up about 705 and opened all the blinds before finally answering the phone even though there were several people waiting outside). When they finally called me back at 718 I was told all they would do would be to send me to the ER. This is after a UAB surgeon told me not to go to the ER. And after the urgent care told me to come back today.The problem is that I now will have to wait hours in an ER, and I could have just gone last night if the urgent care was going to change their mind and refuse to help me.

Front desk person don’t care, they just straight up said go the ER, is not an emergency but I need to see a Dr. For a follow up.

Had a great experience here. They were fast but thorough. The receptionists were delightful and certainly added to the experience. The extra hours they are open make this a very convenient location. I would highly recommend and would certainly come back.

I am 58 and have seen dozens of physicians in my life. Also have been to several urgent care centers before. I’m from out of town and needed to see a doctor, so I came here because I knew of UAB’s reputation. I have never had a more thorough examination or a more knowledgeable physician than Dr. Andrew Allen. If I could, I would have this doctor be my primary care physician. I highly recommend UAB Medical Urgent Care to anyone needing quick, thorough examination and treatment.

Dr Allen, nurse lorry are incredible. Very professional, prompt, considerate of patient needs. I genuinely love them.

This UAB urgent center is dis-organized and does not seem to care about the patients health. I was very disappointed in the staff and process of my entire visit. I hope they read this and change their flaws for future customers.They also claim not to be a covid testing center and they required me to take a covid test with them for me to be seen, seems like bad business to me.

I saw Dr. Allen today and I have to say that he, as well as the entire staff, were so caring, kind, and considerate. From the moment that I walked in to the office I was greeted with a warmth and genuinely concerned attitude. The check in is so simple and quick and the wait was so short that I almost thought it was a joke! The short amount of time I spent in the waiting area was comfortable, clean, and had lighting that was not too bright. I was treated kindly and with respect even though I looked like hell and felt like hell. The nurse was thorough, Dr. Allen was truly concerned and showed actual empathy. I did have to have x-rays and the technician was superb and so quick. I expected to wait a long while for the x-rays to be read and interpreted but it was at the most a 10 minute wait and I would actually say it was closer to 5 minutes. When Dr. Allen came back in he explained EVERYTHING to me, provided follow-up instructions, a work excuse, and a necessary prescription. He genuinely cared and that type of care is both refreshing and restorative. The entire process was professional while also managing to be quite personal. I wish our entire healthcare system ran this wonderfully.

CHECK YOUR INSURANCE BENEFITS BEFORE YOU GO TO THIS URGENT CARE FACILITY!!!I went here for a strep test and was hit with an outpatient bill from both the facility and the physician. If you need a standard urgent care center, DO NOT GO TO ANY UAB FACILITY. These clinics should be made aware from UAB that they bill as outpatient services. The clinic staff even thinks theyre just a regular urgent care center. There is a huge problem with UAB if they think they can bill this way to get more money. I am so disappointed with the service provided by this facility and would not recommend the urgent care centers to anyone.

The staff took amazing care of me yesterday. They all went above and beyond to make sure that I was okay, and still able to take my exams. It’s rare to find an urgent care that is that personal and helpful. They set a great example for future health care staff in Birmingham.

Went there with my wife 1.5 years ago for what turned out to be a badly sprained foot. They were quick and helpful. The facility was clean and they had access to all her records since she goes to UAB for everything. Highly recommend.

Been here several times and have been blown away by the professionalism and kindness. The doctors, nurses, and office staff have consistently been extremely friendly and accommodating. The doctor even recognized me during a visit for my wife even though it had been 2.5 years since I had last visited. The best urgent care facility Ive ever been to.

I HIGHLY recommend this clinic for any non-emergency needs. The staff is very warm and friendly and I did not spend much time waiting to be called back. The doctor I saw was Dr. John Hurt. He is incredibly personable and took the time to explain everything to me without making me feel rushed. He also sat with me after giving my diagnosis to chat and give advice about our new baby (I am 7 months pregnant). Dr. Hurt is very knowledgeable and has a great demeanor. Wish he could be my baby doctor!

Everyone from the front desk to the RN to Dr. Johnson greeted me with a smile and understanding. It was the middle of the flu season and the lobby was understandably full, but I got in and out of there in time to be at work by 9:30 (got there at 7:00 AM). Dr. Johnson listened to all of my concerns and was very thorough. In fact, her office hooked me up with a specialist for an appointment THAT DAY. Conveniently located downtown and opening at 7:00 AM, Id recommend anyone looking for a doctor for any reason to give them a shout.

Everyone was super nice and worked hard to figure out what I had going on. I only waited about 15-20 minutes after filling out my paperwork, and was only there a little longer overall because my symptoms were weird. The waiting room was really clean and inviting too. Its great we have an urgent care facility like this right downtown.

Never a disappointing visit. Usually quick service. Kind staff. Conveniently located near UAB with all the great UAB knowledge of urgent health needs. I havent been satisfied with UAB primary care over the years but this place works well for what it was designed.

The team went above and beyond for my care and it was an extremely quick trip. I was seated in a room and talking with the doctor within 10 minutes! Best experience Ive ever had at an urgent care!

Ive always been seen promptly and have always been impressed by how knowledgeable and courteous the staff is from the front desk to the back; especially Dr. Allen. Im very thankful to have this clinic available so close by. The only small issue Ive had here is every now and then a radiology tech was not available, but they let you know when you sign in if thats the case so that you can plan accordingly.

Today was my first visit to this clinic. The employees were all outstanding, caring, and professional. I dont think Ive ever been at a medical office where everyone was so friendly! The wait time was almost non-existent. I was in and out in no time. Its such a luxury to have a great place like this where I can walk from my office to have my issue resolved.

My experience here was absolutely wonderful. From the receptionist, to the nurses, to the doctor, everything was smooth and as enjoyable as it can be when you arent feeling well. I only waited 15-20 minutes. They listened to my issues and got me fixed up! Continue the good work and thank you!

My experience at for the last 3 visits (in 2 years) have been Much better than any care that Ive received from any other urgent care facility. The staff was friendly and fast. Ive never waited more than 20 mins which is a plus, given the fact that they were very busy. Found it very helpful/convenient that I was able to get an X-ray and a referral when I needed it.As for the Reviewer that complained about a Viral infection issue, they gave you correct instructions. With a virus you must allow it to run its course for a few days first.

I had a WONDERFUL experience here. I get very anxious whenever I go to the doctor, and the nurses were so friendly and eased my mind about everything. Dr. Johnson listened so carefully to all my symptoms and truly cared. She ran every test that was needed and helped me figure out the cause of what had been ailing me for so long. It was the first time I have ever felt like a doctor took the time to properly care for me.

I had a wonderful experience at this UAB Urgent Care location. They took me back as soon as I finished my paperwork. I did not sit in the back for more than 10 minutes before seeing a doctor. The entire staff was friendly and willing to discuss my symptoms without brushing off my questions.This location also was considered tier 1 by my Blue Cross and Blue Shield Insurance, while the hospital is considered a tier 2 location. Very glad Blue Cross left the Urgent Care as tier 1 because they were wonderful.

Dr. Jenna Johnson is amazing! She treated my wife with a lot of care and followed up on us with blood results. What an excellent Doctor and human being! Muchas gracias!

I went later in the day, so the waits were relatively long, but for a walk-in clinic thats to be expected, so I brought a book to read and was fine. Other than that, the nurses were friendly, Dr. Johnson was very helpful, and I was very pleased with my experience.

The UAB urgent care system is quite barbaric. They make you wait in the waiting room with 20 or so sick people to see the doctor - my wait was 1.5 hours. I asked if I could wait outside the building and have them call me on my cell phone when it was my time. They said that was not allowed.These people claim to be health care specialists???Within 2 days of leaving urgent care my symptoms greatly worsened. I am running out of the meds they prescribed and my sinus & lung infections are still very active. Now they want me to come back in for re-evaluation and sit around with a bunch of sick people again to catch another disease. NO THANKS!

Ive been here a few times and everyone is so friendly and helpful. No surly attitudes that you find a lot of urgent care facilities. No long waits either. This is by far the top urgent care facility in Birmingham!

Love this place! It is a very clean environment and everyone was nice. The time I spent there was phenomenal.

Clean facility, staff appear to have all equipment and processes in place to do their job efficiently. However, in my experience with this staff they are very insensitive to sinus issues. I highly recommend going elsewhere. Not only was I feeling terrible from sinus pressure, but I left feeling like they did not care about my needs as a patient.

Over-all well ran. Wait times never been over an hour, even if busy. Normally in and out within an hour and a half to two hours. Everyone past the front desk is pleasant and informative. Front staff is unpleasant and dismissive. They are not fun people to talk to if youre sick.

I was feeling so sick and they treated me like they cared. It was fast and I liked everyone there.

My husband entered UABER 7 days ago with severe abd pain.Diagnosised with several cancerous masses. . Since then Ive been sleeping in hospital room - my husband cannot communicate. His ,team wants me here to help.. . they dont want me gone for any lengthtime.They sent me to this clinic and told me they would help due to extraordinary circumstances. The pain meds i had with me for 7 days ran out. Dr. Allen would not even see me. No help on any level. They could have cee on my records that am not a drug abuser. Yet i was treated like one, or call my doctors. Now i could spend 8 hours in emergency room or 8 hours driving home to get my meds. No strength of conviction - NO INTEGERITY - NO STRENGTH OF CHARACTER. SHAME ON YOU

I used their services didnt get the care I needed. I went to the E R and since then Ive been admitted for 7 days. I loss money if you ask me.

Terrible . the xray tech didnt know the difference between my left and right shoulder. She had to xray me twice due to that .the physician assistant said my heart sounded good I told her nobody listened to my heart .then she proceeds to listen after my prompting. Dont waste your time at this clinic .

I came in because I had a sudden sickness and the team here saw me promptly, had me feeling well taken care of long before we even had results. The team works like a well oiled machine here and it shows. It feels like they care and are knowledgeable- the two qualities I look for most in urgent care.

Both times I was seen quickly by friendly, knowledgable professionals. Diagnosis and treatment appropriate and thorough. A real asset to the community that I highly recommend.

I found the treatment at the Urgent Care Clinic outstanding. Dr Andrew Allen was thorough in his examination and consideration of my issues.The treatment that he recommended was conservative and I agreed with him. We are fortunate to have this facility in Bham.

I was seen at this Urgent Care location for a sprain/ligament injury this past Sunday and I could not have been happier with the treatment I received. The staff got me in a room immediately and had x-rays done within 15 minutes. The nurses really took the time to listen to me and take me seriously when I explained that my tumble down the stairs was a result of ongoing and sporadic numbness in my legs and hands and spells of intense dizziness. They got me in contact with a facility that plans to get to the root of the problem. Im so thankful to them for taking me seriously when no other doctor did because Im 29 and healthy, so the numbness and dizziness isnt something I should worry about. I digress, but please know that THESE NURSES ROCK!!!!

I have had good care from the Staff at UAB Urgent Care.

I will NEVER go again....the lady told me if Im still feeling the same way in 3 days to come back. I had to ask for a shot🙄 I paid $25 for nothing. Then the take home instructions said I had an upper respiratory infection and she told me it was nothing but my sinus. Just a waste of time and money!

They sent me home with a shot only. I did not receive a Rx for Strep. I’m extremely sick and can’t return to work.

Told me it would take 2-3 to get my cultures back. Called to check on them, the told me they would take 10 business days, called 10 business days later (2 weeks), told me I would have to come back in, do the whole process over again just to get some antibiotic, since too much time had passed. Never again

I have been here since 1:45, and was told when I got here that there was a 30 minute wait. And yet it turned into two hours!! And on top of all that they took someone that came 45min after me and when I asked they couldn’t give me a reason why !! Because I was also told when I first came that patients were seen based on arrival times!!

1st visit was successful, 2nd visit was mediocre, I dont feel my problem was resolved, just patched over. My 3rd visit there, 2nd visit with this same lady on yesterday, she walked in and immediately said, Im gonna tell you now youll be dealing with this for the next 8-10 days. Mind you she hadnt touched me nor asked me any questions. She went on to tell me that wed be treating it systematically, I asked her to explain she stated otc sinus meds, otc cough meds I stopped her and asked about antibiotics she said this is viral and no antibiotic would touch it. I mentioned my symptoms again she totally disregarded them. Now she still had not touched me, nor looked in my ears, eyes, nose or my mouth. I got up and said Im not going to be playing around with my health like this as I was leaving the exam room (with no exam having happened) she said Ive been formally trained I know what Im talking about, I didnt respond I had my copay credited back to my card and went to another Urgent care where I was seen by a real Dr. who had an actual bedside manner and knew that you had to touch a patient and look at and listen to their patient. Had chest Xrays and blood work done. I left with 3 prescriptions and a couple of shots. So much for her formal training. The male Dr was nice and handled my issue well. She is not equipped to deal with humans. Not my 1st choice. I dont plan on willingly going there again. The rest of the staff were pleasant and kind.

Dont not go here if you are pressed for time no peolpe in waiting room and not noticeable busy in back lot of standing around.A simple check for cold/flu symptoms took 2 and a half hours and i left before they got last result from nose swab.

Nurse and doctor were very rude and non accommodating. Refused to help with medical leave papers. When I asked if they could do anything about the ear pressure, the doctor stated no we arent ear surgeons in a condescending tone.

My mother has been here twice and turned away twice because they had already taken their last patient. 2 hours before they are supposed to close. Pitiful.

I was sent to this place by my doctor for an x-ray of my foot. After driving downtown, having my vitals taken, being seen by a nurse and a physicians assistant, and waiting for 45 minutes, I was finally told (but only after I asked) that their x-ray machine was not working. What a pathetic excuse for an urgent care facility!

I checked the hours before arriving and their phone message stated they closed at 7. I arrived at 6:25 only to have them shut the lights off as I walked through the door. They said the doctor was closing early and to come back the next morning when they open. Hours should state they close at 6:30 if theyre turning off lights at 6:25.
