I came in with an emergency and horrible tooth ache, they got me numbed up fast and my tooth pulled faster. They were so nice and so gentle. Id give this place more than 5 stars if I could.

Long wait times is the only minus..Once youve been seen the dentist is amazing on speed and comfortable dental work..Had a broken tooth and got in on a Saturday needed a crown. Best pain block Ive ever had..Waited approximately 2-3 weeks for permanent crown placement..Will definitely use in the future

The dental tech could not have been more courteous or cordial. Her attention to detail was noteworthy. It was a pleasure interacting with her and l look forward to my next visit with these folks.

I had a horrible toothache for months back in February of 2020 (I’m terrified of needles- hence I’m terrified of the dentist) it kept getting worse to the point I was bed ridden in pain. I only go to the dentist when I have to. I had called a few places and was getting nowhere with it being a Saturday morning I’m so glad this place is open 7 days a week! Got there, waited a bit, got an X-ray done and about 15 minutes later was in the chair getting it pulled 🙌🏻 great place. I was so satisfied that I recommend this place to anyone having a dental emergency!!!

These people are wonderful. I had a couple hour wait but the assistants (Kelsey/Savannah) and Dr. Outlaw (totally my dentist now) were professional and courteous. My 12yr old son was in the car and Savannah took him a Sprite and some chips! Good ol Alabama raising and hospitality!

The care and attention that I received was excellent! Everyone was very kind and I especially liked being explained what to expect during the procedure. I highly recommend this facility and its medical staff. Also those in the reception and billing areas are very courteous as well!

Wouldn’t recommend. Waited 4 hours wanting to get seen for an abscess and the end result was “go to your regular dentist.” Most of the staff was great, but the older female dentist I ended up with was beyond condescending about my teeth. Just zero compassion or willingness to help. Won’t ever bother coming back!

I was really nervous about going to the dentist in general but I had a great experience. I arrived early but the front desk workers couldn’t find my chart. They had me fill out the information again and I was sent in for appointment almost immediately. Sonia (Sonya) was the hygienist who cleaned my teeth. She was really friendly and did a great job! My gums feel 100% better. The doctor was also really nice but I don’t remember his name. 10/10 would suggest you try this office if you don’t already see a dentist.

I called at 11:30am because my tooth started hurting really badly. Asked if I could be seen today to possibly have it fixed. Lady that answered was very rude and told me that my feet had to be inside the doors by 12pm to be seen.... One, that doesnt give me any time to even get there. Two, youre open until 3pm.... I wont be coming here for anything much less an emergency. I would rather sit and hurt.

I received excellent care in a very timely manner. Everyone I came in contact with was courteous and professional and did an excellent job of explaining every step of the process.

In from out of state visiting family and ended up with a terrible toothache. I called everywhere and no one could get me in. I finally found Birmingham Family Dental Services, and let me just say I am beyond grateful. Took care of my dental issue and made sure I was comfortable during the procedure. Busy place but they do not turn emergencies away. Hopefully I dont end up needing a dentist again while out of state, but if I do, I will be right back to see these folks.

I had awful tooth pain over the weekend and went in on a Sunday and waited 20 minutes to be called to the back and the dentist assistant was very nice and kind. Dr. Chambers came in and let me know what needed to be done and did the root canal and I felt no pain at all. Very minimal pain afterwards. Not to mention the prices are affordable. 10/10

Dr. Outlaw is AMAZING he is very sneaky with the needle, as my teeth are jacked up!!!!!!lol I like the fact that he is very honest about what needs to be done to your teeth. He does not lead you on he prefers to get to the root of the problem versus patching stuff up and he is super sweet, nice, gentle with your mouth, and very SMART for sure. If you are a scardy cat like me Dr. Outlaw would be a great fit, you dont even know most of the time that he done stuck you with the needle until after the fact. Also Dr. Swicord did my root canal about 12 years ago he is great too, and very understanding with pricing at the time I was a cash patient.

If you are absolutely TERRIFIED of the Dentist, Birmingham Family Dental is a great place for you. I have 30 years of neglect in my mouth and have had a few very traumatic dental experiences, so I was super scared to go to the dentist and potentially be shamed for how badly I have cared for my teeth, not to mention the potential pain of the two extractions I needed. I was so scared to go to the dentist I was looking up how to pull my own teeth- DONT DO THAT. There is hope!!I eventually gave up and made an appointment with Birmingham Family Dental when I couldnt take the pain any more and my teeth were infected. When i got there I explained how I knew I cared poorly for my teeth but I was ready to make a positive change and I just wanted some help. There was NO SHAME. NONE. AT ALL. They said they understood (I have never heard a dentist say that before) that things happen and THEY JUST WANTED TO GET ME OUT OF PAIN. They said my teeth looked very painful and they just wanted to help me. I am uninsured and they still treated me with care and patience, and gave me options before I decided to just have the two teeth pulled. (I never felt pressured to have them extracted, it was always my decision)During the extraction process my doctor let me know I was in total control, and if I felt *any pain at all* to lift my hand and theyd give me more medicine- but get this- I had no pain. None. I did not need to lift my hand once. And these were cracked, infected, back molars. I felt no pain. I literally did not feel it at all. Before my procedure I told everyone how anxious I was and the whole time they were pulling my teeth they were checking in with me, making sure I was okay, and reminding me that I was doing a good job. It was honestly such a perfect experience.I never, ever make follow up appointments with my dentist, because I dont want to deal with the shame and anxiety, but I was treated SO WELL by Birmingham Family Dental that as I left I made an appointment to review my whole dental health and actually make a treatment plan.If you are in pain and scared in Alabama, there is hope. Birmingham Family Dental will help you.

I arrived and it was quickly apparent that they were quite busy. I checked in. Filled out my paperwork. Went to wait in my vehicle. After they called - the assistant saw me, confirmed what I needed, and took an x-ray for the doctor. See went over what my copay would be, up front. Doctor came in and talked about options. I made a decision and he went straight to work. Professional and kind. Highly recommend. Highly efficient and capable staff.

I went to this practice today for an emergency. They were able to get me in on the same day I called. Everyone was professional and friendly. I saw Dr. Wall and was very pleased with her. She took time and answered all my questions as well as giving me information On Sjrogrens I was not aware of before. I then saw Dr. Warren, as I needed a tooth removed. He was patient and made sure I was in no discomfort. Both were friendly and pleasant. The dental hygienist, (I’m sorry I didn’t get her name) was exceptional.

Covid protocol was very acceptable. I was able to wait in my car until they were ready.Dentists very knowledgeable, kind and most of all communicative. He let me know what to expect before proceeding and as it was happening which helped calm my slight nervousness.Office staff sharp ladies. Got my follow up in record time.Very very pleased with my experience.

U know it amazes me when you go up in pain and no one does the complete thing if they give antibiotics its not right with pain medicine but if its the right antibiotic than no pain medicine here in same shape in pain wow

This is the my absolute favorite dental office. I have been going to Dr. Swicord for over 10 years now! I have had everything from root canals, crowns, fillings and teeth whitening. He is such an incredibly caring and brilliant dentist and his staff is Amazing. They are a huge blessing!

Receptionist is very rude. Called to get an emergency appointment for my teenage son seeing as how theyre advertising as an emergency dentist. Was told they dont do same day or next day appointments. I asked for the next available and was told again that they dont do same day or next day appointments so when would I want to bring him. I asked for the next available and was told like I said, we dont do same day or next day so. I simply had to say have a nice day and hang up. First, dont advertise as an emergency dentist if youre clearly not. Thats false advertising. Second, get a receptionist who knows what next available means because she clearly doesnt.

They were Awesome!!! They made you Feel comfortable even though i didnt get any work done im Looking forward to going back getting what i need done.

I will say this dentist office did exactly what I needed done. No hidden cost no trying to get me for all my money. I have no insurance and had a tooth crack and needed it to be fixed. They were wonderful from the staff to the dentist to even getting it taken out they were very gentle and made sure to make me as comfortable as possible. I will definitely be back for more work.

This place has been saving my behind with everything from teeth cleanings to extractions since 2012. When all other dentist offices are closed, Family Dentals doors are open. Saturdays, Sundays, New Years Day: they answer the call. When tooth pain strikes it can be unbearable and no one can wait a full weekend, especially a 4-day holiday weekend, to get relief. My tooth was broken off and I was difficult to numb but the doctor and nurse who treated me never gave up. They had a full house of people in pain that day but I never felt like my needs werent met. In 2012 they pulled another tooth of mine and were just as great so their service has been consistent for over 10 years and their prices are far more forgiving than any other practice in the area. They should be made famous for their service to the community! Thank you Family Dental!

Receptionist was rude. She kept asking me what I needed then walked away as I was explaining. I had to explain myself several times. And worst of all I saw the assistant set my equipment up without gloves. The dentist touched the equipment without gloves as he checked them too. Both the assistant and dentist put gloves on to use the equipment though. Wow. Im going to go get tested for COVID.

I came a month and a half ago and I had an emergency condition in one of my teeth, it was wanted a nerve pulling and filling, and before leaving the clinic, I asked the doctor to reconsider my teeth because I feel that there is something wrong and she told me that there is nothing wrong and I made her look at it three times and told her that I I go on a long vacation and leave the country after a week, and I do not want any problems with my teeth, and she insisted that I am mistaken and nothing in her work is wrong, but unfortunately she is mistaken and the food goes between the filling and the place of the nerve that pulled it because it was inflamed and now very inflamed and I am forced to Going to a doctor until he is working on it again. This cost me about eight hundred dollars, and I will bring a report with me about my it and I will file a complaint. I don’t have much money to waste it on doctors who don’t work in conscience. Now Told my husband to call the clinic I need my money back and he will and I will let the new doctor to give me full report about my tooth I’m not happy at all they are Steal my money I’m not going to be quite they don’t now how i go hard to get that money to fix my tooth they are the worst and I will let everyone know that I wish if I can give them zeroooo star

I had woken up in excruciating pain from a wisdom tooth and of course it was a Saturday. I called Birmingham Family Dental and the lady said to just be in the doors by 12 so I headed that way. When I got there, the waiting room was full so I assumed I’d have to wait forever but that wasn’t the case at all. They got me right back for a X-ray. There was some issue with my insurance but the lady at the front desk was patient with me and really searched to find it before I left which I really appreciated. I got back to the dentist and they insisted I go across the hall to the oral surgeon to have the tooth taken out. I was SO nervous but the assistant and the surgeon really took their time with me and were super nice and talked me through everything. The surgeon made sure I was nice and numb and explained the numbing shot would be the worst part. He was very thorough and efficient. It hardly took any time at all and I was finished. It was affordable and I felt valued as a patient. I would definitely go again for a dental emergency.

I had a toothache. I walked in 20 minutes later, they called me to the back. I got an X-Ray done , 10 minutes later they pulled two teeth. I don’t like going to the dentist, but this dentist office made a difference. The Two dentist and assistant were awesome, My experience here made me fearless of going to a dentist. Actually was referred to this location by mistake (insurance companys mistake), and I was a walk-in on a fairly busy day.I was seen relatively quickly all things considered, and all staff were beyond helpful

I came in this past saturday from Montgomery and they got me in and out with two tooth extractions i jumped up a little but they said i did fine the whole staff was pleasant and i would definitely take the drive again and recommend anyone to go there

Instead of trying to disregard a negative review, perhaps you should investigate the customer service issues that I and apparently others have had.The only advantage of this place is that it is open on Friday-Sunday. Thats it. It seems like their solution to many teeth problems is to just pull the tooth. Upon getting this recommendation, we went to UAB School of Dentistry and they were able to save the tooth. Also, I called today about coming in because the crown they put in fell out. The receptionist had a rude attitude and told me to put it back in with toothpaste. Im sorry, what?? What sense does that make?

Went in for the first time on a Sunday for extreme teeth pain due to fear of dentist from prior botched dental work from another dentist excellent experience from the time i walked in to the time i had 4 teeth pulled and checked out,was explained every move and nothing happened without my consent.will be making an appointment to make a plan for all my future dental needs

First of all everyone was very nice. That kind of helped through the “surgery”. I will be back and I would recommend them to anyone. The availability on the weekend is one of the best parts as well!

Let me just say— it is Christmas Eve. Last night I woke up with extreme toothpain and thought, “oh my God, if I don’t get this taken care of then I will most likely have to suffer all through Christmas weekend.” The dentist I normally go to is closed until after January 4th, but the message on the machine said to call this place for emergencies.They. Are. Lifesavers. They were open today until 11am. I got there around 10:30 and immediately apologized for coming in so close to closing time on Christmas Eve when I know they probably wanted to get home to their loved ones. I spoke to 6 people while I was there — 2 receptionist, 2 X-ray techs, the dental assistant and the dentist himself. Every single one of them told me not to worry about it and that that’s what they were there for, and they said it with genuine kindness.I ended up having to get the tooth extracted and had just mentioned in passing that I wouldn’t be able to see the numbing needle bc I have a fear of needles and the dentist and assistant went above and beyond, letting me know when it was coming so I could close my eyes. During the entire procedure they asked how I was feeling and if there was any discomfort. They didn’t rush because it was close to closing and they didn’t make me feel like a burden. After they were done they gave me my prescriptions and instructions and told me if I had any issues to call them back. I can now enjoy my Christmas pain free thanks to them! If I could give 10 stars, I would.THANK YOU!

This office is amazing! From my first phone call with the front desk, interaction with the staff and consult and treatment by the doctors, I just cant say enough good about them. Covid19 procedures were first rate. The oral surgery was painless, I told the Dr. that he was a Dental Rock Star and I should know because I am a dental professional.

I rarely write reviews but my experience was so exceptional that I just couldn’t help. My regular dentist was closed when I had a dental issue arise on Saturday. I googled that Birmingham Family Dental Services were open and I called them to see if they could see me that same day (I was a completely new patient at that time). They told me to come on in, the wait time was minimal and the dr and staff were amazing! Honestly, I like them more than my current dentist and might just make them my preferred dentistry.

So happy I found this place. I’m terrified of doctors and dentists, but everyone here from reception to hygienists to the Doctors are great. Doctor Taylor is a pro with a great taste in music and the hygienists are the best, fun to talk to and don’t give off that cold, clinical vibe.Couldn’t bee more pleased.

To begin with let me just say that Doctor Mark was wonderful God sent I was told by another dental office that I was going to have to have oral surgery and that would have costed me way more money than I have so when I went in there and I sat down in the chair I was so nervous because I was hoping and praying that it wasnt going to be as much as it was will come to find out I didnt even have to have oral surgery I did it was like minor oral surgery LOL I guess you could say and he pulled two teeth for me instead of just the one that I was complaining with that got messed up when I had my car accident and then also I had a panoramic X-Ray so was that being said I have a panoramic X-Ray two teeth pulled and one was considered oral surgery for only $290 he is amazing very compassionate so sweet and kind and his forever and will always do my dentist as long as we both shall live LMAO sounds like were getting married!,😂 but seriously its a very great place to go there open 7 days a week and they are very very clean and professional and quick.

I was seen within 10 minutes of arriving! Everyone was so nice an helpful. I didn’t have to wait long in the exam room, and saw a doctor with a plan for my care in 20 minutes!! Tooth extraction and bone graft - painless! Very pleased and will gladly come back for future dental care!!!

Dr. Warren & staff was AMAZING! I had a little anxiety and nervousness going on due to a bad experience years ago not only was he gentle he was fast and got me in and out and I had 2 teeth extracted. I will be going here for all my dental needs in the future.

They had worked me in during this whole COVID situation, when no one else had a lab up and running. I had fractured one of my front teeth and Dr Swicord was able to give me several options on how to remedy the situation. Thanks to them I will have a temporary front tooth for the next 6 months, otherwise I would’ve had to go that long without a front tooth. I was also really really impressed by my dental assistant during my appointment. She made me really comfortable with the whole situation and was extremely knowledgeable.

This office is by far the greatest that I have ever been to. I had a couple of emergency visits on the weekends about 4 or 5 in a years time. And just recently made Birmingham Family Dental my forever dental office. God knew that I needed Dr. Emily Payne as my dentist, she is the best, she goes above and beyond for her patients. Instead my insurance is charged $48 just so the doctor could tell me I needed a cleaning & a exam also that I needed to make an additional appointment to get that done. Also the receptionist should practice , Is there anything else I can help you with?” She hung up in my face as I was asking another question. I answered okay to her previous response then she hung up not even a goodbye or thank you for calling.

I highly recommend this dentist office. I had a tooth pulled that aspen dental quoted around $1000 to pull because it was deep in my sinus. I had it done here for less than $200!!! Plus they are really nice and hours are very convenient.

Saw Dr Outlaw recently for a cavity on a front tooth. Very patient and professional. Wound up needing a root canal. Dental visits are nerve wracking for me and Dr Outlaw and his assistant Shelby were outstanding. This visit was painless. Seriously painless. Not even the shots to numb the area hurt in the least bit. I was warned the area might be sore later. Did not happen.That was Friday , this is Monday, still NO pain and no problem. If you are looking for a dental office look no further. The entire staff is kind , patient and professional. You are given prices, dental coverage and detailed options before any services are performed. I’ve never left a review for anything before now. Have gone here for years and years, and always very satisfied with the professional treatment from all staff. Recently, Dr. Emily Payne fitted me with build up for 2 crowns and has put in four fillings. This is the most thorough Dentist that I have ever been to and seems to really care about her patients teeth coming back a second time with more samples to make sure had the exact right shade for my crowns. Dr. Payne is so professional and caring attitude makes me want to request her every time. Have never done that in all these years, and dont know if I can request her; however, going to ask.
