They have great communication in a timely manner back to those who may have guardianship over their loved ones in the facility .Questions have been answered without having to wait days for a reply.Their Covid policy and the way they have handled the process has been notch. I have no negative comments to offer.Keep Up the Good Work !!Ken Decker

Ive worked here for 2 years now.There are good hardworking employees who care about their job and the residents, who show up on time and bring a positive upbeat attitude, and are always willing to help.Then there are the SORRY employees who come to work with a negative attitude EVERY DAY, call in CONSTANTLY (causing more work for the others) wont do what they are told when they do actually make it to work, and constantly complain that its managements fault.Those are the employees who lose their jobs, cant understand why, then leave negative reviews on google-reviews :)

I’ve worked for this company for 7.5 months, and I will say that I loved my residents like family and many of my coworkers as well. What really is sad about this place is the blatant disrespect management shows it’s employees that take care of the wonderful people who live there. CNAs and nurses are over worked, underpaid and under appreciated. A lot of the disrespect is aimed at the CNAs, especially when asked to pick up shifts. Bonuses offered are not added to checks, or are smaller than promised, and disrespectful tone is used when you don’t want to pick up.I have had HR be blatantly disrespectful to me when I have brought up discrimination in the work place as she didn’t even make a comment on how it would be fixed and only read the message and asked me to pick up the shift the following day. I am disgusted with the way management has spoken to not only myself but my coworkers, and this is why everyone is quitting. Please reconsider placing your loved ones here.

Altercare Big Rapids is a place that shows compassion everyday to others. Whether it be a resident, co-worker, or outside service provider people that choose to work here love serving others. This is the foundation on what this company was founded on. I have personally worked here for over 13 years and have seen alot of changes; some good and some perhaps not as good. However during these changes every one that was made was based on putting the needs of others first. The last year and a half have been a true testament of dedication and commitment of the staff regarding the impacts of Covid in the healthcare industry. Unfortunately some of my coworkers have not been able to survive the stresses. With this being said, I cannot thank the families enough who turn to us and ask for assistance in caring for their loved ones during a time of need. It is truly a privilege and for that we are forever humbled and grateful.

I would not recommend working for alter care due to poor management. the residence are so wonderful. management makes promises they dont keep.

If you are looking for a job or a place for your family member to stay here just don’t.

This place has been a blessing The staff is awesome and very helpful. My father has Parkinson’s disease and is overweight and needs 24 hour care that we unfortunately just cannot provide. they have helped him lose weight and function a lot better. And he really enjoys it there. They have given him a lot better quality of life. I would recommend anyone In need of 24 hour care To try them out.

Very dissatisfied!!!! Had our mom in for five day respite, through Hospice, and the nurse took it in her own hands to change my moms meds without consulting hospice. She also excluded my sister to have anything to do with our mom or her care....which she had no right to do either!!!!!!!! Very poorly run!!!

My father-in-law was in altercare recently for a few months before we were able to transition him to a permanent spot by us.The facility he is in now has great reviews and ratings across the board. Compared to altercare, I am not impressed.Altercare was very attentive. I was called everytime there was any issue and he was never hospitalized. There were scheduled care meetings and many phone calls from nurses. Being three hours away, we were so relieved that he was there.Currently, my father-in-law has been in the new facility for going on three months. We have had not one care meeting, phone calls are not made until he is being sent to the ER and that has been 4 times in the past three weeks. I will just keep it at that....On top of Altercares wonderful staff, I have to give a HUGE shout out to Donnette in admissions. She seriously was a life saver. This was our first time placing a parent. Donnette went WAY above and beyond her job duties to help us through it all. We are SO thankful for her and for Altercare! ❤

Unsatisfied with the placement of my parent, I thought residents would be placed in a room with a more compatible roommate. The staff that works there....aides and nurses, while it seems to be understaffed do the best they can. Follow up to your response. Thank you for the number to call, I agree, we can talk in private about this issue as this has to do with my parent who is a resident and the employees shouldnt be harassed about a review that a residents daughter made.

Nurses shouldnt give you some one else meds.

It is always difficult to leave a loved one in a home, but my mamas care has been nothing but wonderful at Altercare. Shes going on 130 days as a temporary resident now and we have zero complaints. Our only recommendation would be for the physician to actually communicate with family members rather than to have us hear everything through secondary sources such as the nursing staff. Special kudos to Jennifer the accounts manager!
