So sophomore year of college a doctor put me on zoloft because you know, depression. she put me on 50, and then i had an appointment and she wasnt there so it was a different doctor and i told him i didnt feel well on it, so he raised it to 100. the office then messaged me and said that i didnt tell them that i felt like that. okay, whatever. so then she put me on cymbalta. which was good for me. i was on it for two years. i struggled with taking it regularly, so if i wasnt taking it i would just wait until i could get myself to take them regularly to get them finished. so i can admit that i was really inconsistent. she told me when i was a junior that i needed to be a little better at it, but she wasnt necessarily mad. then my senior year i was just struggling mentally while still on the cymbalta. once again, it was hard for me to take them. so i went in to get meds one day and she said she was going to give me one last shot because i could be doing something bad with the meds. so then when i went back to school my senior year after christmas break, i hadnt got meds since september or october. i went in to get them refilled, and she literally was like i cant prescribe these to you anymore. i think youre selling them. i cant risk my license. but you can find some other doctor that will deal with your inconsistency. for one, wouldnt you think i would be asking for more meds than what i was? and for two, who the hell would try to get high or do whatever on cymbalta. it is literally a depression med. then she said she wasnt going to bill my insurance even though that is illegal.

Love the personal counseling center! Great listeners and super flexible with scheduling. Always have good suggestions to help me!

Got diagnosed with Herpes when all I had was a cure-able bacterial infection, impetigo. Took the wrong prescription for a week. Doctors just want you in and out, they don’t care to thoroughly examine you to get the proper diagnosis. DO NOT GO THERE!

I went to Birkam Health Center on Friday because my sinuses were acting up and I felt as if I was starting to get strep throat, so I wanted to get it checked. The doctor didnt seem to know what he was talking about when doing my check-up and seemed confused by the symptoms I was experiencing, as if hes never had clients with blurred vision or headaches. He asked a lot of questions but said he didnt know what I had. How does a doctor not know?? Its not even like he suggested it might just be my allergies or a little cold; he gave me no feedback whatsoever besides stating I have a lazy eye (which I dont) and to expect a call Monday to see whether my strep-throat test comes back positive or negative. Besides that, it was to my knowledge that student health care was part of the tuition and free to students for doctor visits. It wasnt until AFTER my check-up that I was told I had to pay for my visit. Assuming it would only be a few dollars, they then tell me its going to cost $74 and I wasnt given medication or anything! I was beside myself and asked how it costs that much. The lady at the desk said originally a visit costs $104 but students get 40%, reducing the price to $62 plus another $12. She didnt even tell me what the other $12 was for, only that my total was $74. I didnt know what to say so I just kind of agreed and she told me it would be charged to my student account. Now I check my account and see that the health center charged me not $74, but $86. An extra $12 that I was never told about nor agreed to be charged to my account. Very, very unhappy with my visit and I will be filing a complaint tomorrow at the Health Center personally!!!

They need to explain more about the amount of money you have to pay when going because I got ripped off. They need to let you know before hand what insurance they take. When I went though, they did not do so but were very friendly people.

Never go to this office. Doctors have no idea what they are talking about and they charge hidden fees. Students attending Ferris my best advice is to get your $47 health service fee refund and drive or find a ride to a Grand Rapids urgent care. This office is horrible and the staff are rude! If I could give 0 stars I would.

After having a sore throat for week to where I can barely eat or sleep, and having previously had strep throat 4 times, I went to Birkam to get checked out and get a prescription. Just paid $80 for some nurse to tell me, Why dont you just try some ibuprofen. Do NOT go here.

As a student, theres a saying Dont go to Birkam, theyll call it cancer and give you a prescription for tylenol. Seriously though, they misdiagnosed all of my friends within the last two years, making them have to deal with ER trips a night or two later because they cant breath.
