I had a really good experience with my orientation meeting and found that the exercise areas are well-planned — given the space constraints of an in-shopping-center gym. The orientation meeting was really incredible because I wasn’t just sat around for a while for a marketing meeting. Instead, James (the trainer) read my intake form, helped me understand what could be accomplished within the gym and what nutrition might need to address, and then he immediately showing me exercises and talking about a realistic pace to achieve my goals (both in terms of individual workout pacing and scheduling longevity). He was very knowledgeable and the rest of the staff has been very cordial. I have not attended any of the classes and the sauna is currently closed due to the mask mandate, but the facility is kept very clean.

The overall space is fine. It feels busy quickly in the free weights area if more than 10 are working out there. The cardio space has plenty of machines across the various types so it doesn’t feel as cramped. The space designated for core and miscellaneous can feel small at times given the cornucopia of stuff you can do there (good and bad of course).The staff are consistently nice and polite. There are roaming sanitary technicians throughout the entire day, so you can see the facility is being cleaned.The class selection is okay. They are offering more classes more often now. The class spaces need better ventilation, but that’s not a deal breaker.Much of the equipment is dated (rust spots, stained) with broken and/or missing components (pins or clips). The dumbbell selection is great. There are plenty of weight plates and various bars.Overall, the gym is adequate in relation to the cost.

SCAM ALERT!! I joined another location, when they closed that location, my account was automatically transferred to Bethesda without my authorization and any notification. Ive tried to cancel my account but since I dont know my member number (I lost my gym card) they wont cancel it. When I call the front desk they refer me to the 800 number and say they cant help me. I canceled payment through my credit card, but they keep charging me. I just got a two month charge. This is insane!

This i think this is possibly the worst gym in the world. SAVE YOUR MONEY DO NOT GO HERE. Please just go to another gym. The people that work here are not particularly bad and are just trying to make a living. But i have had one or two bad experiences with people working at the desk. the gym is gloomy and cold and not even worth a visit. Finally the main caveat of this gym is the sheer lack of equipment frankly it is barely a gym there is one bench and one squat rack which is frankly unacceptable for any “gym” as well as not enough equipment in general. This gym would be good if it was only one person.

This gym should be renamed the Walter Johnson HS Sports Club. There’s always kids in here, no matter the hour. And one bench press. Not that it’d matter- if there were three those would be monopolized by high schools boys doing 15 sets.

Somebody just broke two locker keys and took the bags with the valuables. The gym has no a single security camera even in the lobby. Normally members need to scan their code at the lobby but the gym couldn’t help us identify how the thief entered without scanning. The locker rooms aren’t safe at all. To my surprise the gym doesn’t report to the Police but advise the member to report by himself.

James Tillman was my personal trainer at WSC. With his guidance and motivation, I was able to attain my goals. He specifically tailored my routines in order to accomplish what I wanted. Every trainer promises this...but James delivered. My goal was to press 300lbs (l weigh 170). Mission accomplished. Thanks James!

This is a very predatory gym. In all my life of frequenting gyms in different cities, Ive never been so relentlessly harassed to join. I have let them know verbally in person, by email, and by phone that I am NOT interested in joining because I have relocated to a different city. This hasnt stopped them from calling me about once or twice a month for the past TWO YEARS. Even after I have blocked their number, they still leave voicemails! I am at my wits end to have them understand that I do not want to join. All this because I used a one time free gym pass to check it out (and I didnt like it because it was small, and had lots of men leering at me).

This gym is rather small and the wait time for some equipment is rather long. Besides that point the gym gets the job done. The workers are extremely nice and welcoming. The gym is cleaned really well and the equipment is always organized.

The Washington Sports Club is the worth place you can deal with. They take money from your account without any notification. I have experience racketeering from WSC not just once but 3 times. If you are not watching you are screwed. Whoever runs/owns this place are bandits.

Do not sign up for a membership with this gym. I am so sick of being charged by this company time and time again after I have tried to cancel. They will not let me cancel my membership. Once the South Bethesda location closed and I was automatically transferred to the North Bethesda location I requested to cancel my relationship (considering it means the drive is 30 minutes one way) thought the link/contact provided by WSC. I have tried to block the charge through my credit card and they still go after me. Honestly just dont do it. There are other gyms.

My family and I have had membership to WSC old Georgetown road gym for about 8 years. Earlier this week I left my gym bag in the locker room so I could pick it up after Zumba class on Thursday however I missed the Thursday class. Today as I went to grab it, I found that it was missing from the locker. I found out that they had broken the padlocks, removed the members bags and dumped them in some storage room. The storage room is the first level where from time to time one can spot huge roaches especially first thing in the morning. I spoke to Michael the membership consultant who claimed there was a note posted by the entry way warning members to vacate belongings from the lockers. He also lectured me about a policy inside every locker room and how he had given me time to speak and that it was his turn to speak. I frequent the gym and do not recall seeing a sign posted in the ladies’ locker room and if it was, it may have been for the day I didn’t I didn’t make it to the gym this week. Michael remained defensive during our entire conversation and the whole time spoke highly of his manager. He gave no apology of how the matter was handled, if anything him and his manager were victims and I the gym member was such an inconvenience. As if that wasn’t discouraging enough, he told to me I needed to pay $9.99 fee for a monthly locker without inquiring if I store my bag there frequently or if this was a short time need or merely find out my needs as a member. He even passed on Eric’s (the current manager) business card and asked that I email him about the issue. I told him the damage had already been done but I would think about it. I also mentioned that the manager is not as approachable as the previous managers like Daniel. It would have been nice to have some sign posted at the locker room as to where one would retrieve his/her missing bag. I find that it was too much trouble for management put forth an extra effort in ensuring that one knew when they would clip padlocks and empty the lockers. I use my padlock on my luggage during travels and I am disappointed the amount of energy spent to break them. It could have been handled differently. We live in the technology age. Sending a generic email to members to inform us of such actions would have been greatly appreciated.Overall this was not a positive experience.

The gym facilities are fine, the equipment is modern and in good shape, and theres rarely a wait for any machines or weights. The athletic training staff are knowledge and friendly.However, the managerial staff are very dishonest and deceitful. On several occasions, I was quoted different rates for membership than I actually ended up being charged. Additionally, when I elected to cancel my membership, they quoted a cancellation fee for me without any sort of prior warning online on in-person during sign up. If you want to join this gym, be very careful and thorough about asking about fees and get any special rates from the staff written down.

The trainers and facilities are good, as it was said before, but the management is not able to resolve simple issues. I buy membership for my wife and therere extra services which she doesnt use, but WCS charge extra money every month. We were asking the management to help during 2 month without any success.

DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM. The facilities are fine (though equipment is a bit limited), the trainers are nice, but the management is absolutely NOT worth getting involved with. I belonged to this gym for about 18 months, and when I moved to go back to school, I tried to cancel my membership. They continued to charge me every month for six months, despite the fact that I called, emailed, and came in to ask for cancellation DOZENS OF TIMES. I was told several times that a manager would cancel my membership, but each month I was charged again. Each time I physically went to the location, I was told that the manager wasnt in, but I could call or email (which I did many times with no response or action). When I finally got ahold of a manager after 6 months(!), I asked for a refund of the months I was aberrantly charged, and they REFUSED. It cost me nearly $200 just to quit this gym. I talked to a former trainer who said this is commonly the case. DO NOT WORK WITH THESE INCOMPETENT PEOPLE. I have steered several people away from this location/chain. Id rather spend more per month at a gym that respects my time and money. Avoid at all costs if you value your money and sanity.

Several of the other reviews were written by people about the old management, or people who never actually signed up and just wrote a review based upon other peoples reviews and expectations. I dont really know how you can honestly review a place without ever going...Ive been a member for almost a year, and I would certainly choose this gym again. The staff and management are extremely friendly, and most even know me by name, which creates a really nice atmosphere. Sure, they dont have the absolute nicest selection of equipment and arent open 24/7, but what do you expect when youre paying $20/month? If absolute top notch facilities are something that are important to you and youre willing to pay a hefty premium for it, then go somewhere else. But if youre like me and just want a place that provides you with everything you need to get a good workout in for a good price, then this is the place for you. Ive never had any issues with billing or equipment maintenance that werent fixed as soon as it was brought to managements attention. Again, if youre looking for a reasonably priced gym to get a good workout, then I highly recommend this place.

Love this gym and the staff! Everyone is always so welcoming and helpful. There are little problems that pop up here and there with equipment and whatnot, but the general manager is excellent at taking note of the problem and getting it fixed asap! I always recommend this gym to my friends

Stopped in. Told them that I and everybody else knows about their issues from reading reviews online. The manager said he reads these reviews as well. They offered a $99 signup and $30 monthly fee, and I was very interested. Its a great location and there were many unused machines at 8pm. I offered cash, which would circumvent ALL of these they charged me money to cancel or they kept billing me issues. He said they couldnt do it. They also do not have contractual terms to protect both parties and delineate what charges will occur and when -- you only sign a postcard with a waiver on it.Beware -- everything is stacked in the houses favor. There is NOTHING protecting you from fraudulent charges. Sure, you can reverse charges or take them to small claims court. Do you REALLY want to deal with that? Do you REALLY want to go to a gym that has monthly memberships but wont let you pay cash? YOU KNOW DARN WELL WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO DO. They WILL fraudulently charge your card. Thats the ONLY reason they need a credit card. Maybe thats fine with some people. Not me. If you tell me to my face that youre going to do things in as shady a manner as possible, then its not for me.

Not a great place to do business. I would rate the customer service at about a 2. When I joined I was not given a tour to know where anything was or told that I needed to check the blackboard periodically to know when new classes were to start. I showed up at 5:30 am to work out only to be told at 6 that I had to leave the area because a new class was getting ready to begin there and I could join the class or get what I needed and get out. I asked at the desk what days the class would be in that area and was told to check the blackboard. I asked a second time and was rudely given the same answer. The entire time I have been a member the trainer that helped me with a routine has sent numerous text messages asking when I would need his service. When I told him I moved, he offered to meet me outside the gym for $60 an hour. If I could afford a personal trainer I would tell them so at the gym. Now, I called to cancel my membership and was charged $29.95 to do so. By the way...there is also a fee to transfer the membership to another WSC. I would not recommend using this gym.

Standard gym. Well kept cardio area but the free weights area were disappointing. Stuffy and the ceiling fans didnt seem to work. Not a great aesthetic look overall. Oh, and there was a spider that was crawling on my shorts so that was unpleasant.

I have been meaning to write this review for a while and have finally decided that the public and current gym members are entitled and should hear this story. My wife and I were members here starting around October 2015 and then I cancelled our membership shortly after my experience below in early 2018 around Feb.This is by far the worst gym experience I have had in my entire life. I was quoted and started a gym membership here for my wife and I at a certain rate. I was told at the time, our member rates were locked and they would never increase. About a year or so later my gym memberships increased with no prior warning at all. No where on my gym contract did it say that the rates can be increased. And I repeat there was no prior warning of an increase in the rates for this gym. I did not receive an email or letter nor did I receive a phone call letting me know. When I asked management they told me that I should have received an email, I DID NOT, and they could not produce an email that they claimed they sent to me. The absolute worst thing about this is that I had to fight tooth and nail with management to get a refund back to my credit card because of the blatant overcharges, and the whole ordeal took close to a month to resolve. Additionally the gym equipment is somewhat unkempt here but the amenities always had issues here such as with the steam room that my wife liked to use. Nothing was ever fixed in a timely manner and none of the staff ever knew when anything, especially when the steam room was going to be fixed.This gym is a disgrace to bear the name of Washington Sports Club or even to be in business of any kind in the fitness industry. Your business practices of covertly raising gym rates without notifying your customers and loyal members is shameful. I will NEVER come back to your gym, I already have and will tell all my friends about this story, and I will NEVER join a Washington Sports Club ever again.Note: I checked my junk folder and spam box in my email and any voicemails on my phone, to make sure the fee increase notification didnt get lost. I asked the Management and they could not provide any evidence of notification.

Cancelled membership when we moved away. Called to cancel. Was told by employee only the manager can authorize cancellations. Called 7 times looking for manager. Was told they would pass him the message. Meanwhile WSC kept charging my credit card. Called again. More charges. This went on for 5 months. Shady business. My bank finally reversed all the charges... When you cancel, do it in writing (email, letter, and signed affadavit with priest as a witness) and then when they keep billing you, write a review about the low-life business they run. Meathead thugs...

If I could give this gym 0 stars I would. The CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRENDOUS! I had an issue with my membership and couldnt get in so I tried to call the manager, Joy, several times over the course of a week. She finally called me back after about a week of trying to hunt her down. She said she would email me the info I needed and guess what...NADA! Never emailed me! Ive emailed her 3 times over the course of almost 3 weeks with NO RESPONSE!! I will be ending my membership here as soon as my year is up. This is unacceptable for a gym as small as this one.

When I join this club in the summer of 2014 it was very pleasant experience, I was given tour of facilities, introduced to the staff members. I provided my contact information (home address, e-mail address, cell phone number) I have also provided my credit card information for automatic monthly billing. My only fault I never checked my CC statements for a such small amount billed every moth.And this morning i received call from COLLECTION AGENCY telling me that WSC passed my information to them as an uncollected debt.I did not received a letter, E mail or a simple phone call from club management telling me about this issue. No attempts where made to contact me, they just simply send this to a collection winch will certainly will affect my credit report. They also cancelled my membership again without even notification.This is how they treat their customers, I will advise any one to take their business somewhere else, where you will be treated as a customer and not as a ATM.This is terrible practice, specifically when you have huge competition in our area. Truly disappointed and will post my comments on every media available,DO NOT USE THIS CLUB.

When I started my membership in September of 2014, the managers were very present and friendly. They were often seen on the floor and could be heard greeting customers. There were a few changes towards the end year but overall, customer service remained satisfactory.Beginning in 2015, management changed and small policy changes such as towel service were abruptly revoked. Then, when my job was relocated and I needed to cancel my membership, there were surprise cancellation fees that I had explicitly asked about upon sign up. When I asked to speak with a manager, the membership coordinator, Jerry, left me on hold for 15 minutes and then hung up on me. When I called back, his response was unapologetic. He promised that the regional manager, Kristiana, would call me back the next day.The next day, I didnt hear from management as promised. When I followed up, I was told she was in another meeting. A week goes by, still nothing. I did receive a call from a wsc phone number while I was at work. However it was not from the regional manager as promised.I ended up going into the gym two weeks later and received more kindness and assistance from the girl at the front desk (who actually worked at the south Bethesda location) than I had from any kind of management. A few days later I was able to actually catch the regional manager in person. She proceeded to refuse to take ownership of any of the aforementioned situations. In fact she said that she was unable to deal with my case individually because she was so busy with other things. Thats why I have a team. After explaining the whole experience, it was still unclear whether she fully comprehended the ineffectiveness of the team or the terrible customer service I received up to this point. She did not make any attempt to understand or remedy the situation. I would not recommend this location to anyone.

Stay away from this gym! Joy, the manager, has zero customer service - she treats her employees and members terribly. I canceled my membership because I was moving and she charged me for 2 1/4 months. Now, she screens my calls and I can not be refunded. I have never regretted a gym so much in my entire life. Save yourself the stress and STAY AWAY!!!WSC is a SCAM!!!!

The staff is really friendly and are happy to help you with the various machines if you are new to lifting. Unfortunately, the rest of the facility is sub-par: the course offerings are really slim (barely one or two classes a day), nearly half of the TVs in the cardio area are broken, and - something I never thought Id have to say in 2016 - there is no Wi-Fi.In the end, however, its a functional gym thats decently sized, so Ive stuck around. Id urge you to look into the South Bethesda location, however, because Ive heard much better things.

This is a very nice club... clean equipment and facilities, nice locker room, TVs on all the cardio machines. free towels. large locker room with showers.not crowded at all, even at peak times you can always use the machines you want.Their official prices are very expensive, but I talked to the guy and got a very good deal - $140 for 3 months (only $10 more than NIH gym or YMCA)Im confused about EJs review because they dont have a sauna...

I originally signed up at the Bethesda WSC and was very happy with that club. I moved to North Bethesda recently and this club was closer. The difference between the two clubs is stark. North Bethesda WSC weight area is not spread out enough. I felt as if I was going to bump into the fellow working out next to me. Given that the club is two floors, the dipping station is downstairs, while all of the weights and exercise machines are upstairs. Supersetting with dips and bicep curls becomes extremely inconvenient. Aside from these weight issues I noticed, I also realized that this club does not have a pool compared to Bethesda, which I understand is an amenity. However, paying 60 to 80 dollars for this club means its overpriced. If you plan to go to Bethesda WSC, its worth it. Otherwise if you live in Rockville, another club might be a better option.

Small spaces need to be kept up the most bc dirt filth and SMELLS can easily be detected. The steam room smells musty, the sauna isnt hot(YES it was turned on) and when I asked the mgr on duty abt it he just said he would get to it in the morning bc the cleanup girl doesnt speak English. Seriously dude? U got an employee who u cant communicate with? Plus ur house is in shambles? Not cool dude. Were it not for the proximity to my house I wouldnt have come, but I thinly I can deal w distance if it meant cleaner facilities.
