I’m sitting here with my wife in Suburban ER. We went here at our doctor’s direction. She came in severe pain. I won’t get into details other than to say it’s now six hours, everything that’s happened to move us forward has only been because I’ve complained, increasingly so. I’m utterly stunned by the utter lack of attention, communication, professionalism. Suburban was always my go to if ER was required. No more.

VERY VERY RUDE! i just called to get emergency room information. I proceeded to tell the nurse who answered the phone that i am a nursing mother and wanted to know wait times. The nurse was extremely rude and hung up on me! I called back and said maam what is your name, she hung up on me again. I called back and whomever answered just put the call straight on hold for 5 min. I cannot believe this is a nurse with a degree who is there to help people. How rude and unprofessional. I am appalled at how disrespectful she was. If this is who Suburban hospital employs i will go elsewhere for care. Disgraceful.

Overall great hospital. ICU nurses are attentive, food is good, it’s clean and convenient. Nurses out of ICU are not that passionate about their job, they just kept disappearing. One person that went above and beyond was Freddie at the front desk he welcomed me during my visit to a patient in ICU and filled my difficult day with his positive attitude and smile, it is people like Freddie that bring sunshine to you gloomy days spent at the hospital. The ER wasn’t too bad at all. I was a bit nervous to come because it’s rated as 2.9. The people at the front check in desk were nice as well as the woman taking my blood pressure. One of the women in the back that was confirming my medication was not friendly and had kind of an aggressive and annoyed tone when communicating with me. Also, when I called and asked for a wait time they said they couldn’t give that info over the phone which is weird because Anne Arundel Hospital does which is why it’s only getting 4 stars instead of 5.The tech Raina and the adjuster coordinator Channise were amazing. They were friendly and compassionate as well.Dr. Paige was amazing, she was very kind to me, friendly, empathetic, compassionate and very helpful and loved that she explained my pain areas. She immediately got me a cat scan and X-ray. The cat scan and x ray team were very accommodating, empathic, and compassionate. This is the type of care that is truly needed in healthcare.

Awful. The doctors were robotic and had no empathy whatsoever. I went there to get stitches due to mental health reasons and the doctor who stitched me up had an attitude. Dont come here. These people have no idea how to treat patients with mental health problems with respect and care. I was treated like a problem they needed to get rid of as soon as possible. I had to wait over three hours and no one even informed me of anything. They told me to wait in my room for the official paperwork and it was taking a long time. I then had enough and went up the front desk and basically demanded they give me my paperwork. Turns out they had it and just forgot to give it to me. Im sorry to anyone who had to deal with these people. You matter. You deserve to be treated with care and respect. Give these people better training and at least pretend to care about your patients emotional well-being instead of treating them like a burden. It can be a matter of life and death. Thank God I had someone with me otherwise I dont know how Id be able to handle it.

One star because I can’t leave zero. Horrible experience in the ER. Brought daughter in with broken hand; x-ray was given within 30 minutes of arrival. Great, right? 3 hours after that promising start, still waiting for a doctor to see her. Oh, and no ice pack offered or provided when requested. So, yes, her hand is more swollen than it was 4 hours ago. Desk staff were rude and disrespectful. Used to think this was one of the better facilities around, but after this 4+ hour visit, not anymore.

My husband had to go to Suburban Hospital for a biopsy. I went with him. We checked in at registration desk on the right and were told to have a seat. About 5 minutes later a lady came out and took my husband into a closed office. After 10 minutes they came out and she told me that she was going to escort him to another building for his biopsy and I would have to wait outside. I asked if I could sit there and read the book I had brought with me. She said no, there were benches outside. You will have to go outside. The problem is it was 88 degrees and all the benches are in the sun. It was hot out there. After sitting on the bench for about 15 minutes, I came back into the building and this time I went to the left where there were people sitting in chairs. I spoke to the guard and he said I could come in and have a seat. What I later found out is that was the Visitor Area and I should have been allowed to wait there from the beginning. This lady in Registration needs to be more informed or she will have you sitting outside in 88 or 90 degree heat.

Horrible ER .... It took more than 2 hours to accept my 80 year old mom into ER department and 6 hours to have X-rays and ct scans done ... once they learned that everything is ok, it took them 2 hours to release her since the doctor that had to approve it apparently was so busy. They made me stay in the waiting area and didn’t bother to call me or inform me of my mom’s situation. I had to call them every 45 minutes for the entire time (10 hours) and getting the same answer “ we will call you back”.If this is not a life or death situation, you better off to go to another hospital.

DO NOTTTTT GO THERE IF YOU ARE A POC/IMMIGRANT. I had to call the ambulance for my mother whos back gave out and couldnt move/walk/sit without extreme pain (she has sciatica and she had documents where recorded). Since they already had her diagnosis, she is quickly prescribed medicine without much attention and essentially they discharge her quickly EVEN after she says shes still in pain and wanted more help. Also my mom got up to draw the curtains closed (which the nurse should have done) because she felt uncomfortable with how her back was exposed in the hospital gown, the nurse rudely remarks oh look you can move. Then when my mom removes her IV to go use the bathroom, LIMPING and HUNCHED over as she moves, the nurse comes back and takes the opportunity to essentially kick her out look you can be discharged, youre moving again ignoring comments from my mom saying shes in pain still and wanted further treatment. When they refuse, she asks to have an ambulance take her to another hospital for treatment and they refuse her AGAIN, which whatever I could understand since they couldnt do that as it was for emergencies, but my mom couldnt even sit in the car (the pain is less for her laying down). They tell her theyll call a taxis but never do and make her sit OUTSIDE in the 90 degrees heat in a wheelchair. Not only did they constantly undermine her pain, they also kicked her out and refused to further help her get the care she needed. Cant believe these people are healthcare professionals, disgusting.

My Mother needed to go to the emergency room Friday morning.Sibley was busy so we had to come to Suburban. This is the WORST experience Ive ever had at a hospital!! She was completely neglected, even after falling (when it took 30 minutes to get her)The doctors and nurses barely communicated with Mother or myself. Moms doctor had an impossible time getting through. The nurses were not nice. Every aspect of this was horrible. And this was post-covid so not sure what excuse was other than ineptitude and lack of caring.Final indignity was being asked what time we would pick my mother up. We told the nurse we would be there in 45 minutes (to arrive at 3:20). My wife arrived at 3:20 and was still waiting at 4:07 as I am writing this review!!!!Aargh!! My sweet bipolar son was admitted to Suburban and was released after 23 days still psychotic, with tardive dyskinesia (he never had prior) and suicidal -- a tragedy for my son and a failure of Suburban hospital. The first night they forgot to give him his prescribed medication. Three days after admission, we had still not received a call from a doctor. My solution was to physically enter the Lobby and insist to speak with a Hospital Administrator to who took the (short) printed medical history with a smile and a promise saying the doctor is the best. The next day Dr. Ashley Bone called me, and was great--said she wanted to hear all about my son and after a nice conversation that was the last I heard from Dr. Bone, despite me calling. A nurse called occasionally. Is it apathy, neglect, covid? (who knows) that they did not administer ANY OTHER tests (MRI, infectious disease bloodwork, etc)? The doctor knew his history of Lyme disease, tick exposure and previous concussions. The hospital is charging $40,000. If it turns out that an MRI or additional tests reveal a contributing factor to my sons suffering, the hospital will hear about officially. If not, I am still sitting here with an ill suicidal son. Zero star. Zero good outcome.

I had a back injury and had to be wheeled in in a wheelchair because I could not stand or walk. Intake nurse asked me to try to stand up so they could weigh me, this after I told them why I was there. I tried and collapsed back into the chair breathing heavily in pain. The intake nurse then rudely told me “stop hyperventilating, you weren’t doing that in the waiting room”. I told her I was in severe pain unable to move and you asked me to try standing up. Later on after an MRI determined I had multiple ruptured discs in my back and they recommended hospitalization, I requested someone to help me urinate into a bed pan. A different nurse was equally rude. I started crying and apologizing to her after she complained that it was messy and her bedside manner was godawful. I was laying there totally immobile having just received news that I had a major injury and I didn’t know when I would be able to walk again, and on top of it had to deal with being humiliated by the nurse when I needed help with the bed pan. I am a woman in my 30s, and if they treated me like this, I fear how they would treat an elderly person, or someone who has had a stroke, or anyone with disabilities who is immobile or non-communicative and cannot care for themselves. This happened in October 2019, and I am just thankful it was before Covid because I can only imagine the nightmare it must be at this ER now during the pandemic.

Our doctor sent an order for Covid testing at Suburban Hospital drive through on Dec. 15. On Dec. 16 my husband and I went. There was no one in line - no one was receiving a Covid test. They had - that I could see - 4 employees - standing there doing nothing but telling us we didn’t have an appointment so (empty as they were) they could not test us.Came home, called our DR. He said he sent the order of Dec. 15. Said I was the third patient who had been turned away. He gave me a number at Suburban H to call. I called. Was put on an endless recorded loop. After 30 minutes, I opted to “press one” to receive a call back. - Never got one.Called that number this morning. Was at first told the Dr. had not sent the order. I told her, yes it has been sent on Dec. 15. She went away and after 7 minutes came back to say, yes, they had the order. This call took a total of 43 minutes. I’m not sure why - it was never explained. We so desperately need testing - why is Johns Hopkins/Suburban Hospital so incompetent? When the testers have no one in line for testing, does it not occur to them that maybe something has failed in the procedure? Clearly, JH & Suburban are not taking this pandemic seriously. Don’t waste your time here.

On July 20, my husband was admitted in the ER. My husband doesn’t speak English fluently and was lectured by a nurse on his lack of English language skills. At this point, my husband was in a lot of pain and the nurse kept telling him that he should learn English. While I understand learning English is important, he should have not been lectured in the ER while being in pain. It wasn’t the role of the nurse to tell to him to learn English. After all, we were in the ER to ease his pain not get English classes. From the start, he was treated unfairly by staff members due to his lack of proficiency in English. It has been three days since he was admitted in the hospital and we don’t know what he has. He has been receiving several painkillers but we are far away from knowing what is causing his pain. The nurses have been rude, if he asks to many questions , they says things like “ if you do not want to be here, you are welcome to leave! “We just want to know what’s wrong with him. At this point, we want to know what is causing his pain and get him out of the hospital with a proper diagnosis. I hope no other person who doesn’t speak English goes through what my husband went through. I hope Suburban Hospital hires more empathetic and equipped people in the future. A beautiful new building doesn’t always guarantee good professionals.

1 star is too much for the ER at this hospital.Nurses and doctors are plain rude. They had me waiting for 3 hours to receive at least some pain medicine for my excruciating pain. They saw me screaming of the pain and they choose to do the registration whileI was waiting to be seen, even thought I could not even talk because of the pain.I had already show them my ID and my insurance card. Could the rest of questions wait a little? Why it’s so important what kind of religion I have, what is my race and what it’s my marital status??But they didn’t even bother in asking if I had any allergies. I had to tell them after getting the first medication that I am allergic to penicillin. The nurse said, sorry we didn’t know. The intake nurse couldn’t be more insensitive. I have Covid and he was really showing how uncomfortable he was of having to be the one doing the intake questions. He later refused to take me to one of the tests because I have Covid.I was placed in a room with glass doors and for 2 hours I was screaming for help. Doctors walk by my room and didn’t even look. Nurses had time to fix their hair and eyebrows and have some coffee while patients were waiting on the halls and rooms.I was told the wait outside was because they Were cleaning the room and when I arrived to the room the nurse said to put my staff behind de bed. She did it for me. The room’s floor has blood stains and the walls too. Later on when I went to get my clothes form behind the bed, I found out the my purse and clothes were on top of someone else’s dried drops of blood. Sorry but that is disgusting and dangerous! The table next to the wall had a blood stain too. That room was not clean AT ALL!See all attached photos.Because of my Covid results, I was not allowed to use the restroom and I was asked to give a urine sample. No shade, no privacy. There were three policemen interviewing another patient right outside my door and nurses were expecting me to give a urine sample in front of everyone???They finally brought the shade and I gave them the sample. Just to find out The sink in the room was out of service and I didn’t have access to any water. At any moment I was offered even a drop of water to drink and I’m still waiting for the water to be able to clean my hands after using the bathroom. I used hand sanitizer but I was taken out of the room for a scan in a wheel chair. I had contact with the chair and surfaces in the scan room. Never saw anyone cleaning the chair after I used it. No wonder people gets Covid in that Hospital, they are beyond negligent. Please don’t go to this hospital. They don’t care about you. You are one more number. Thanks to Dr. Radoliniski and his experienced nurses and the anesthesiologists at the Suburban Hospital. While in the recovery room, I noticed something that bothered me a lot. A very elderly women was placed next to my ward, likely also recovering from her surgery. Karen, if I remember correctly as the nurse was calling her. The nurse required to have blood works, so they poked her. She cried in pain. Then they realized they had to have more blood for some more tests, poked her again. She cried loud for help. I requested my nurse to attend her. I did not understand what was wrong, realized from discussions of the nurses that they were not getting the vain to draw blood. Then a guy came, he was like I know mama, it hurts..but bear with me.. Karen was crying loud for help and that guy gave up. Then came two nurses, one short black woman and another tall fat white woman. Both tried poking the Karen, I believe multiple times. Karen was crying loud for help. Now this time it started hurting me too when I saw both nurses were laughing watching her sufferings.I understand patients are mere objects for some medical professionals, probably thats how one can make tough decisions. But laughing at the pain of an elderly woman, its brutal, inhuman and unprofessional. Hope Suburban hospital will have vigilance to such incidents.

For my first ever visit, I needed a blood transfusion. Myself, being an 80s child (meaning I was scared as hell about taking the blood), was not happy at all with the way I was treated, prior to being admitted. Not only did my nurse not wait until I was in my room, to start the procedure (the room was ready), but she applied the blood pressure cuff to the same arm that housed my IV. I am still bruised from this! Get to the room, and ended up getting stuck again and again because they could not draw blood from the set IV (which is part of its purpose). Although this continued to happen throughout my stay, I am a very sweet and patient person, so the staff was very apologetic and remorseful. This was a breath of fresh air, compared to that blood pressure cuff nurse. The best thing about this visit was the sweet Doctor that monitored my care (she went above and beyond), and my immaculately clean room. Later, I received a follow up call from the social worker, to inquire about my referral appointments. Despite that wretched nurse (you know who you are), I will continue to visit Suburban for any emergency needs. Youve got to take the good with the bad... Thats life!! Oh! I have no problem with the care that was provided. But I do want to say that it was a terrifying moment for me as a mother and a kind , compassionate word or two would have made all the difference. All I got instead was and judgement and dismissal. The way you treat someone in the emergency room can make a huge difference: it can either be just a bad day or a traumatic experience. I am left with the latter.

I was there just for a chest x rayThe nurse put me in the room. I waited for 45 minutes. The er was. Empty. But there was no patient care. I asked several nurse how long more I need to wait. They did not want to be botheredThe nurses were either on their cel phone or playing with their mask and contaminating the mask as a result. I am an internist I noticed that the nurses had no training how to use a mask. Finally I left without anything done. Most nurses were busy feeding themselves. No one asked me any question. In the face of covic/29 pandemic it’s a disaster to see things going as such in the so called best hospital ER in maryland

I never been treated so bad by any doctor at this hospital , always I had caring doctors before but this person Tracy Lynn Pyles, was horrible with me . I was there three weeks ago for swelling gland on the right side of my face and I was discharged after one week . I came back today because I start noticing that it was getting swollen again and started to be very painful, “again “ so I was scared to get to the same situation than before and I was in pain so I went back to the hospital, she came in the room and said “ ok, you are done” I was shocked about her words , she didn’t even check my face and said “ don’t come here anymore for narcotics” I was completely shock I said to her ” I don’t need them”, “ I am not asking for anything like that” because fortunately the last time I was there, only anti-inflammatory injections was all I need it to calm the pain . She treated me like I was a drug addicted , and throw me away of the hospital like I was nothing, I never in my life I have been treated that way . The point is why are you going to the hospital ? because you can’t stand pain right?, or for many other injuries, accidents , etc . I think in my opinion we should be treated like humans no matter what is your color or shape, I left the hospital in tears because of the way I was been treated and I am still in pain. I can not say the same about the nurse “ Ally” , she was outstanding and caring also the people who register me and the nurse when you go in triage room, they are awesome !

10 hours in the wAiting room last night. Maybe 10 mins of actual dr time. This experience was a nightmare...waiting with people throwing up in bags. We should have left and gone to shady grove, which may not have been better but would not have been worse. Triage was good at first but then after the initial sit down- ; 4 hours wAit until they took you back, then another 2 hours before a dr came by. I had to get a nurse or dr each time - did not come by on their own. Only 1 dr was on staff for the night shift. Inexcusable for MoCo/ Hopkins. Will never go back there.

I wish there was a way to give less than 1 Star. This Hospital is a part of Johns Hopkins so naturally one would expect a certain level of professionalism. Not with this Hospital. I was visiting a very Dear Friend who has been a Family Member Of Choice (for 40 years; & this Friend is My Health Advocate due to the severity of my Disabilities. I went to visit my Friend, as well as, to pick up my 8 week old Seizure Detection Alert Service Dog from an actual working Farm in North of where My Friend lived (still in Maryland). The morning I was due to fly home, I had began to feel nauseous around 3:30 AM. It continued to get worse & was vomiting (what looked to be) Coffee Grounds. This was 09/2018. I came in via the Emergency Room at The Suburban Hospital. The Staff Triaged me & due to the Fact that I was vomiting what looked like the aforementioned Coffee Grounds. I met the Elderly Emergency Room Physician (I believe his Surname was Thayer), was extremely pleasant & a bit puzzled as to what to do next. I have had problems with multiple stomach an esophageal ulcers which have perforated & caused blood to build up in my stomach. I suggested an Endoscopy and Dr. Thayer(?) immediately agreed.I was moved to (I can only assume), was the assigned Gastroenterologist who would be performing the Endoscopy. I recall being somewhat nervous because the Anesthesiologist told me that he would be using the same medication that Killed Michael Jackson. I have to say that I was surprised to find that this medication worked well, & I had no grogginess after the Endoscopy. I found myself in a could only assume was a very Large Recovery Room. My Health Advocate/Family Member Of Choice (who also worked for the UNITED NATIONS (& stayed by My side the entire time I was at The Suburban Hospital in Bethesda MD. When I returned to the State I was living in I received THREE SEPARATE BILLS; THREE SEPARATE ACCOUNT #s; 1 WAS EVEN FROM A PEDIATRICIAN WHO ALLEGEDLY CHECKED ON ME IN THAT HUGE RECOVERY ROOM. A PEDIATRICIAN WHO MY FAMILY MEMBER (& A PERSON WHO DESERVED A MODICUM OF COMMON COURTESY) NEVER SAW so much as a nurse stop by to check on me in the HUGE RECOVERY ROOM (& NOT TO MENTION THAT I WAS CLOSER TO 60 YEARS OLD AT THE TIME)! I recall seeing the Gastroenterologist walk by at one point who stated as he walked by using only a SIDE EYE (as opposed to actually making eye contact), & mumbled something to the effect that I was going to be admitted to the Hospital. My Family Member (UNITED NATIONS EMPLOYEE) asked this Gastroenterologist why I was being admitted (he again grumbled something about the amount of ULCERS he found). My Family Member asked this rude, unprofessional Gastroenterologist how many ULCERS he found. This Egomaniacal Staff Member (alleged Gastroenterologist) was well over 30 feet away from My Health Advocate Family Member (& who did NOT EVEN BOTHER TO TURN TO ADDRESS her Face to Face) just yelled, A BUNCH!(??).When I began receiving these THREE SEPARATE BILLS; THREE SEPARATE ACCOUNT #s; INCLUDING THE ONE FROM A PEDIATRICIAN, I had every right to question all the UNPROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOR I ENCOUNTERED AT SUBURBAN HOSPITAL I WAS FINALLY transferred to someone who was in the Emergency Room when I arrived. After this RN, rambled on & on about why I was responsible for these Bills, I kept asking her which Account #s she was talking about. She obviously did NOT have all the information I had in front of me so I asked her, WHAT WAS MY CHEIF COMPLAINT when I entered the Emergency Room? She stated that my CHIEF COMPLAINT was A MIGRAINE (???)!!!I was obviously DUMBFOUNDED, & felt compelled to ask her, If I had a MIGRAINE, WHY THE HECK DID THEY PERFORM AN ENDOSCOPY TO look DOWN INTO MY STOMACH?I went on to say that if,I should need to come to the Emergency Room at The Suburban Hospital again could they do a COLONOSCOPY AND TELL ME IF MY HAT WAS ON STRAIGHT?After that conversation I stopped receiving BILLS & I waa UNABLE to REACH A SINGLE PERSON WHO WOULD DISCUSS ANY OF THIS OXYMORONIC SITUATION.

If you want to get what you pay for, dont even think about this place. I always see people working here are trying so hard to work minimum. They do not care what your pain level is and where you feel the pain. It seems they think patience for a patient is waste of their time. And also, every time you request something, you will see their faces with full of laziness and slow reaction like a turtle. Poor facilities are a plus (Barely working thermometer for an example).

First time being at the hospital, I was nervous at first because I didnt know what to expect. I had knee replacement surgery on Thursday (11/29) and stayed until Saturday (11/31). I have nothing but great things to say about the staff there. For a minute I thought I was at the Waldorf Astoria because of the quick caring responses I got. Never had to wait no more than 3 minutes or so for assistance. The nursing staff, physical therapist, operating room doctors, etc., did not hesitate to answer my call, even the volunteers were awesome! And last but not least, the FOOD was outstanding and such a clean smelling environment. Thank you to the staff at SH, you are worth bragging about.

Last week (Thursday) I had a very strong abdominal pain, went to the ER. Spent more than an hour laying down on huge pain in the waiting room, begging for a injection of pain killer. Nothing done. When finally went to the room to speak with a nurse and where they measure blood pressure and everything before sending you to a box with the bed...begged again for medicine. They said they could only give after a doctor see me. And forgot me sit in that room for a while alone, I was almost fainting in pain...started calling for help. Nobody listened. Saw a bell, pressed it...people came. It was code blue, I did not know...the physician instead of take care of me started being rude that I pressed this (I did not know it was code blue, plus I had been calling for help) . The nurse was very understandable. Said would get the medicine to inject. Took another while. The person from billing and admission was quicker, brought my papers to sign before medicine was there. Finally at the box, after 2 opioid injections and ultrasound, doctor came telling it was my cyst (as I had told in the beginning) but, by the exams there was no torsion in the ovary, so they could not do the surgery soon there. He told me to go home and follow up with my gynecologist. I told him the pain was still very strong, if they could inject more medicine before send me home it would be better. Ignored, and sent me with prescription of oxycodone. The pain was Soo strong at home, I had to take it every 2 h at night, that I spent crying on pain.On Saturday pain was better. Monday saw my GO, and yesterday had my surgery. Guess what? Yes, there was torsion, my left ovary was purple and I had to remove ovary and tube.Horrible experience on Suburban ER, took forever to be seen, rude physician, they do not care about your pain and still did not see the torsion. The only good thing were the nurses, all the rest was horrible.Go to another place.

This was one of the most unprofessional, disrespectful, and discriminating hospitals I have ever visited. I took my 5 year old here because he was having flu symptoms and a really high fever, they took us back to pediatrics, put the kid in front of us in a room, and asked us to sit in this waiting area. So I thought, “Okay, maybe they will just have us sit here until a room is ready.” I could not have been more incorrect. The nurse comes and triages him in the waiting area, swabs him to test for the flu. After a while I ask, “is there a room that we can get so he can lay down?” She told me he could lay on the bed in the waiting area.. the bed that had stains. No thank you. I asked her, “I thought this was a waiting area” and she said “It can be used as one.” What does that even mean? There was stains on the wall, stains on the door, stains on the bed thing. The doctor came and examined my son, and her coat was also very stained. There was some brown stuff on it, but obviously she’s a doctor and knows what she’s doing, right? Why would she expose my son to other diseases, right? I was wrong. After we spoke I asked the doctor too, if we were going to be moved to a room. She would not give me an answer. She said they were full. So I waited again. The nurse came back and said he tested positive for the flu, and gave him his first dose of medicine. The doctor at this point(she was standing in the hall area, I was standing up so I could see her) had realized there was stains on her and started rubbing it off with a wipe and gloves. She smiled and me and walked into a different room. At this point we’ve been here 2 hours... sitting in a waiting area. It’s ridiculous. A nurse went to go clean a room(the room the boy before us had been put into), and another nurse said, “Oh, I already cleaned that room.” So why are me and my son sitting out here in this dirty waiting area? Why have we not been moved into the obviously clean, empty room? The doctor comes back and let’s me know what I’ve already been told, that my son has the flu, gives me his prescription, and that’s it. So we spent over 3 hours in a WAITING area, are treated in a waiting area, and are completely ignored on all requests for a room. I have NEVER in my life been this disrespected. In the past, I have taken my son to other hospitals and NEVER have we been TREATED in a waiting area! We have always been told, “were working on getting you a room”. This hospital was dirty, disrespectful, and I did not feel at all like their priority was treating my son and helping him get better. I will never come here again and and I will make sure I report this to my insurance so they know they are discriminating against children who are on a state health program.

I went to the emergency room at Suburban one evening in early October 2016 after suffering a dislocated foot playing baseball. The bedside manner of the nurses on duty was excellent. The staff, nurses, and doctors were sympathetic and very professional. The hospital called in an on-call ortho who took care of my dislocation and provided excellent follow up care at his office the following week. I was very pleased with my experience at Suburban.

Went to ER to get a suspicious lump checked out. Im new to the area and this is the first time Ive had to go to the hospital since I was underage and had a parent with me. Navigating it alone for the first time was an incredibly stressful and scary experience, as no one explained to me what was going on in terms of my care.I understand that they were busy and had other patients to see, but I would have liked to know what they were doing with regards to my heath. They left the IV in my arm, which is apparently very normal, but no one explained what they were doing or why, which led to mms panicking. When I needed a CT scan, they did not tell me what kind of scan I was getting, and had to figure it out from them talking about contrast dye. I had no idea what was going on the whole time I was there and was very obviously scared and crying in the waiting area until I was moved to a room. I will say that even though they did not explain anything to me initially, the nurses were still very nice and helpful when I had questions. The doctor who saw me seemed fairly dismissive and acted like he had better things to do than help me be reassured that this suspicious lump wasnt anything dangerous. They also did not inform me of the possible severe interactionthat could occur with my normal medication and what they prescribed and gave to me before discharging me, I had to learn about it from the pharmacist filling my prescription the next day after they had already given me the first dose.Overall, it seemed like they did not care about their patients being informed about the testing and treatments they prescribed, which certainly does not make me want to come back if I have another emergency. Id rather risk going to a farther ER if this is how they treat scared patients.

The hospital has an excellent reputation for patient care, and the staff gives excellent customer service there are lots of employee managers working in that facility that are prejudice against African-Americans professionals especially a manager name Arthur Pierce who is the clinical manager on the EAU you Department which is a emergency observation unit. This man has yell at a first-time employee during his first first week and terminate the person without going through human resource .But the sad thing about it is that the human resource manager is Charmaine Williams who is black lady did nothing and pretend nothing so what does that tell you what her position is all about . .From my experience I will expect the human resource coordinator to be in charge instead is to managers on a floor that is in charge and they violate the rules when it comes to policies. So if I was you I was very careful when I go there because its not what they look like who they are and who is in control

Although I know the doctors do not work for the hospital directly the hospital needs to be on top of them to make sure they are reliable, responsive, empathetic, and competent. the reason I am giving 2 stars on this review is only because the receptionist was great and the time it took to see the doctor was minimal otherwise they would be getting one. The doctor which is a key worker there was horrible I was involved in a motorcycle accident and I didnt go to the hospital until 5 days later mostly because I felt fine and I didnt want to miss work. keep in mind I was at fault in the accident I felt that the doctor that was helping thought I was just there to get money out of the accident the reason why I say that is because I asked to check me very well because I wanted to make sure that nothing was fracture or that had any internal bleeding the doctor instead of making sure that I was fine she kept questioning why I waited so long to come to the hospital.(not responsive) I didnt feel that she care about my well being nor was she sensitive to my feelings. (not empathetic) was she competent and reliable I am not sure but I am sure that if I am going to the hospital because I dont feel well and the doctor instead making the visit as pleasant as possible its going to make it so awkward and question my visit I will take my business elsewhere after all this is a business and this visit helped to pay her salary. very disappointed

Absolutely the worst ER and the major contributing factor is Tracy Pyles, MD. Rude and does not like to be asked questions much less listen to the concerns or penitent information. My family member was not treated or attended to because he came in with a nose bleed. The ER was not busy and we had the pleasure of watching Dr. Pyles/staff celebrate someones birthday and eat cake. I had to demand for him to be seen by a physician. NO ONE wants to go to the ER. When he was finally seen by Dr. Pyles. She had such and attitude and absolutely lacks any empathy. After insisting that she listen to the concerns, current lab work and vitals along my his past medical history which is also in his JH chart, my he was moved to the ICU within 15 mins. The ICU doc had a whole different assessment and treatment plan and actually came and saw the pateint and probably saved a life.

This has got to be the most poorly run hospital in the world. There seems to be absolutely no communication among Practitioners, especially between shifts. The nurse practitioner discharged me after taking to the cardiologist on call who was making the rounds, telling her that there was nothing she could add based only on looking at my chart. The wait for my discharge after they unhooked me and asked me to get dressed was over 4 hours. When I finally got my discharge papers, it was missing the radiology CD promised to me by the nurse practitioner which took another half hour to obtain. Being Kosher with gluten sensitivity it was understandably hard for me to find something to eat in their menus, what was not is the fact that First I was brought someone elses non kosher meal. When I did get mine it contained ingredients that I had told the food people I had a sensitivity to. Its already a traumatic experience to have to stay overnight in a hospital. You would think that putting more effort into patients experience would be a priority. It certainly does not seem to be the case here.

Admission for my my non-critical case to the emergency room took under 10 minutes, which compared to some other hospitals seemed slightly miraculous (though to be fair, the night I got there didnt seem terribly busy. So I might have just been lucky).Environment was clean and modern. Doctors and nurses seemed fairly friendly, and appeared to be able to give patients personal attention.Update 1 : Downgrading from 4 to 3 stars. Had to wait over 5 hours in the ER for a CT scan to reveal stomach pain was nothing serious. A 5 hour wait for a basic procedure while the ER was only moderately busy doesnt seem reasonable.
