Tom is personable, kind and exceptionally knowledgable about his craft. My four month old black lab puppy has had 5 sessions with him so far and has made noticeable progress after each one. Ive found his interactive teaching style to be especially helpful as a first time dog owner. Training with Tom will advance your dogs obedience, provide you with information on how to effectively teach your dog new behaviors and how to correct unwanted behaviors. 10/10 would recommend. If youre in the area and looking for a dog trainer, Tom is your guy.

I called Tom on a Sunday night when I couldn’t get our 20 month old puppy to stop barking every time someone walked past our home. Tom immediately gave me some helpful tips and we set up an appointment. Charlie and I have now had 9 sessions with Tom and made a lot of progress. When we try something new, Tom always demonstrates with Charlie and gets him comfortable with the new behavior before asking me to take part. Tom’s very resourceful and will look into products to help the dog if we encounter a roadblock. He’ll even order them for you.If you’re looking for a trainer that’s patient, knowledgeable and loves what he does get in touch with Tom today!

Dog training should be fun! Toms quote and he lives up to it! I have had four golden retrievers but 2020 gifted me Susie, King Charles Spaniel weighing in at 4 lbs. We started training with Tom at 4 months.Tom is creative giving me numerous variations to simple techniques. I so appreciated the explanations of what we needed to achieve. How many times did he tell me to breath so our lesson would be fun and rewarding!Excellent trainer! We will start level two shortly!

Tom - The best that any dog owner can hope for. Sit, stay, and not get distracted. He really has trained us well. Tom made it look easy - and then made it easy for us as well.He is knowledgable about so many breeds and temperaments, what type of fencing, toys and training, each dog’s different needs, and what to expect. We are very grateful for his help. Getting time with Tom is well worth the investment.Oh - and yes - he is still safely training while we are all stuck at home.

Our 2 year old dog spent his first year on a property with very few encounters with other dogs and lots of land to run on without a leash, so transitioning to Bethesda left our pup easily over-stimulated and confused about the leash. Tom was fantastic with our dog. Tom helped calm down our dog by teaching me several tools to use with him and recommended some calming products. Tom also helped me figure out how to stay calm myself and give the dog something else to focus on when I knew he was about to get overstimulated. The difference I feel when walking my dog now is immense and the dog is getting better all the time with not getting worked up when seeing other dogs and small animals.

I recently brought home a bernadoodle that is an awesome puppy, but hes very willful and full of personality. Even though I was and continue to read books on how to train a puppy, its not the same as having a trainer. I spoke to a handful of potential trainers, and decided to hire Tom.That was THE BEST DECISION I could have made. Tom was knowledgeable, patient, and helped us quickly hone in on the behavioral issues we needed to focus on with our puppy AND very professionally pointed out the behavioral issues we as owners and family members needed to be very attentive to. We were quickly able to establish all of the key commands, get our puppy crate trained, and have the tools to work with him during his more active periods. While Im sure we could have navigated through without Toms wisdom, it would have been a TOTALLY different and more stressful experience. Marty LOVED when Tom arrived, and the training provided allowed us to integrate our puppy into our family and focus on loving him vs being stressed out.I highly recommend Tom for anybody looking to quickly and effectively train your dog.

Tom is The Dog Whisperer. We started working with him a couple of months ago when we got our puppy (a beagle; a notoriously stubborn breed). She learned the basic commands incredibly fast with Tom. He has a real knack for connecting with dogs and training their humans too. He recommends good products without being a zealot. He was even kind enough to find our youngest kid gloves so he wouldnt be afraid of our puppy and her razor mouth.Tom always wears a mask and comes to our place in a good mood, ready to get down to brass tacks. He is responsive and reliable.Go with Tom. Youll be happy you did.

I reached back out to Tom for an additional session after I noticed my dog started to resource guard. Tom was very responsive and was able to come out the same day to help with this. While working with him, we were able to recreate the resource guarding behavior by my dog in which we worked to correct the behavior. He also taught us techniques to practice to further prevent this behavior.Additionally, Tom took the time to work with us on our dogs jumping, greeting of new people, and reacting to outside noises. He answered dozens of our questions and provided excellent recommendations on products as well.Would highly recommend!

Tom has been an amazing dog trainer for us with our new puppy Roxy. She arrived to us from another state at 8 months of age. He is patient and has experience with various types of dogs. He has come up innovative ideas for the optimal type of leash, music to help train Roxy to her anxiety with loud noises, and has found the treats she likes and that movement is what motivates her to comply with commands. Roxy is learning commands and has mastered sit and stay and heel and is working on come when called and more. Tom has really helped Roxy transition to our family and has helped us learn all about our dog that we love!-Michal and Jonathan Helfgott

Tom has been great in helping us to get our 100 lb. lab/pyrenees mix to move when he really would prefer not to. Have you ever tried to motivate 100 pounds of stubborn dog? After two lessons with Tom, I had enough tricks that walks became much easier and our dog is visibly more well behaved. He still sometimes stops when I want to go left, and he wants to go right, but now I can get him moving with the right combo of commands and treats. Tom was helpful from our first written interaction, arrived early to all appointments and was explained everything very well. Most importantly, Bourbon (the dog) adored him and was responsive to the training. Thanks, Tom!

I will start off this review by saying that my husband and I were pretty adamant that we did not need a professional trainer to train our 5 month old shih tzu puppy as we had already trained our two older dogs. However, we quickly learned that our newest family member was more strong-willed than her older brothers and decided we needed some help. Tom was very quick to respond to our inquiry (within the hour) and we set up our first class for the very same week. In the first class (Puppies & Obedience) our pup was very hesitant to work with Tom, but he was able to show us what we needed to do in order to master each command. We continued training with the advanced obedience package and got into some of the more advanced commands. Tom was super patient with our girl and tweaked some of the approaches/lessons based on how the class was going. By the third class our pup warmed up to Tom... to the point where she didnt want to do class, she just wanted to play and get snacks from Tom! Tom is always on time for class, very professional, and always accessible to answer questions (even after class is over). We had such a great time working with Tom and plan on booking more classes as needed in the future. If you are considering professional training for your dog - look no further!

Tomas is terrific; he came to our home and was at least as focused on training us as on training Bear. Ive discovered that this is a novel and almost a reverse system from the one employed by most trainers, and have discovered that Ts efforts have been lasting and and been absorbed by us and by Bear in ways that have given us greater control of and love from Bear than I thought possible from a one hour session.Michael Horowitz
