I loved my experience at MyEyeDr. in Bethesda! The selection is amazing, and the staff is fantastic. Dr. Shoter took his time to explain my prescription and made me feel comfortable. The staff took the time to help me pick out the perfect frames and were polite, encouraging, patient and helpful! Patty, the GM, is great. The culture is so positive, and I will absolutely be going back. Thank you!

Very disappointing experience. Would not even give a single star........First, there is no variety of frames. What they have at open display is cheap quality . The frames in locked cabinets are over priced. and it is not only about their products and the prices; they have bad customer service.I went to another place and got a signature brand with more features for the lenses , all for half the price !!!! To add , they were ready in less than a week.I think it is over for My Eye Dr....I used to be an old customer but not any more. Dont recommend them to anyone.

I’ve been coming to this location for a few years and they are always so nice and you feel very taken care of. Today Dimaysome helped me with the contact purchase and she was very friendly and super efficient. Dr. Ross Shoter is excellent and you are in good hands with him and his whole team!

This is a very solid choice for eye care and what I needed, which was replacement lenses. It was easy to get an appointment, the examination was fast and the doctors advice on eye care was very helpful, and they were very accommodating in getting my prescription updated and having the glasses shipped to me.

Bethesda My Eye Doctor used to be excellent, and has declined dramatically in the quality fo service. Recently, I ordered contact lenses and glasses from My Eye Doctor. First, it look them literally hour after the exam to be able to get my glasses fit and the order sent in for glasses and contacts. Second, they sent the contact lenses to the wrong address. To top it all off, after I paid an exorbitant amount for progressive lenses, the arrived and simply werent constructed properly. The reading part of the glasses simply didnt work at ALL. At the same time, the middle and distance vision was also blurry. Ive worn progressives for years, so Im used to looking through them. My prescription from two years ago works better than the ones I just received, and they simply didnt seem as pressed about finding a solution as they were about trying to get me off the phone. Its unfortunate. This place used to be good and the staff used to be competent. My Eye Doctor says that is has reached out by phone, but I have no phone calls or voice mails from them regarding this matter.

I will NEVER visit this place again. Customer service is lacking and they scam the customers! My glasses were weeks late and when they arrived they didnt look like the demos. I know now, the size was different! The demos were 54 mm and my glasses are smaller. When I inquired about it, they tried to make me think I was imagining the difference! The doctor also pushed me to get progressive lenses, but refused to alter them when I told him the progressive lenses hurt my eyes.

I still feel very upset and frustrated even when writing this. I am sorry but this is the worst place to get glasses!I went there in November. The glasses that the doctor prescribed to me was clearly incorrect. Despite my insistence, they refused the re-examine claiming ‘their doctor never makes mistakes’ (who doesn’t for god’s sake). They changed my pair twice (at least they said so), but I had headaches every time I was wearing. This process lasted until March because they kept forgetting ordering my pairs :) After they were opened after lockdown, they didn’t accept the refund. I had to go to another place, repaid for the eye exam and the glasses. There, we noticed that they didn’t put the blue light blockers I paid extra for! They charged me for it but (probably after the replacement) they didn’t put it there. My whole experience was terrible. They made me wait for months, they charged me extra but didn’t provide it, and I ended up paying but getting nothing. On the top of that, I felt very stressful every time I had to go there and talk to them. This place is a total ripoff and I never recommend going there for anyone. Stay away from My Eye Dr. At least from Bethesda.

I called to get a prescription for my color contacts with 0 power because I didn’t know that I couldn’t order contacts online from 1-800-contacts without a prescription stating 0 power. I went for my yearly appointment on September 5th and got a prescription for my contacts. I told them I wanted color contacts and no one offered me a prescription for 0 power or even explained that I would need that to order them online. I called today and asked could I get my prescription with 0 power so I could order contacts online and they refused. They said I had to order them from them!! LOL. I’ve never heard of this in my life and I find it to be illegal. I simply wanted a 0 power prescription and they refused to give it to me unless I ordered my contacts from them. I find this to be ridiculous since I literally just had my yearly appointment three weeks ago. I will not be back because I find this to be erroneous. I get that they have to make a profit but for them to force me to order my contacts from them is abhorrent.

My experience started out leaving me a bit disappointed. I found a Groupon online for 225 off frames. I thought that sounded like a good deal so I scheduled and eye exam. During my eye exam, I was told I would benefit with progressive lenses. I don’t need to wear glasses all the time so I was a little hesitant. I was assured it would be a huge difference. I agreed and moved onto picking out new frames. I already had a few picked out from what I found on their website. I sat down with a woman working in finalizing my order and help with picking out frames. I was provided a rough estimate and I was blown away how much more progressive lenses cost. I said i wasn’t looking to spend that type of money on glass I only wear part time. I was reassured it would be a huge difference and make quality of life better. I reluctantly agreed and scrapped the frames I pick from their website and settled for cheaper frames. At the point I was given the final total and after deducting the 225 Groupon it was still way more than I wanted to spend. She did find a way to bring to total down and I relunctantlu made the purchase. When I picked up the glasses I couldn’t tell any difference from the progressive part of lenses. The entire lense looked the same. I was very upset about giving up the frames I wanted for these lenses that I can see zero difference from the top to bottom. I called and they were very nice and said I could come back and they would do whatever to correct but no refund for difference. So, I submitted this horrible complaint to the BBB which I feel slightly guilty for doing. Someone from mreyedr reaches out to me and they could not have been nicer. I have seriously never experienced a company work so hard at making the customer happy. They set me up with the manager the following day. He couldn’t have been any nicer and went out of his way to make sure I got the exact frames I want. Since I decided against progressive lenses, He also refunded me the difference along with rushing the new glasses. It was all basically a miscommunication. The mistake was no one explained to me why the bifocal part was so weak. They recommend low strength progressive lenses so when I need stronger down the road it’s not a huge uncomfortable difference. I think every business makes occasional mistakes. It happens. The thing that separates good businesses with bad is customer service and they did everything they possibly could to make things right. I will definitely go back and recommend them to friends.

Had a great experience here. Front desk was friendly and accommodating. I walked in with no appointment and was not expecting to actually be seen that day, just really wanted to set up a new patient file and an appointment. I got to see the Dr within 10 minutes and had a very professional exam. Got to order some contacts and got my prescription updated. Very professional, helpful and friendly staff and very clean/organized office. I will definitely be back!

Can’t say enough about the great customer service we received here! Amanda the store manager and Olga the assistant manager are both super friendly and helpful. We had some issues with my husbands lenses that another location was unable to sort out. When I called Bethesda, Olga was so sweet on the phone and welcomed us in to have them help out with it. Amanda quickly figured out what the issue was and took care of it. She was efficient and professional throughout. Even though the other location is walking distance from our house, we will be coming to the Bethesda location for all of our family vision needs. As a business owner, I know how hard it is to find good managers. My Eye Dr is super lucky to have 2 awesome ones here!

Refused to extend my eyeglasses prescription by 1 month so I could get new eyeglasses, even though I just bought new contacts through them. Won’t be coming back here. After refusing to assist me they offer me an appointment INSTANTLY to let me go in and pay for a new prescription; very clear where the motivation lies with this company. Money in their pocket, not helping you out.

I have always been going to the myeyedr at Cathedral commons! I switched this year because my old pair of glasses needed repair they could only do! I am impressed by how professional and kind everybody is! I was greeted as soon as I walked in! Great receptionist and the dr was filling in for another but was also great and professional! I feel I also got the best deal my insurance would allow! I was made aware of extra benefits as well! Thanks guys! Keep up the good work!

I agree with Janelle, staff is very friendly and efficient. Unfortunately, I was also not informed that some tests were not included in my co-pay. One should at least first ask a client if she/he wants to make use of a service before just performing the test and making the person pay. I was just moved from one analysis machine to the next without any information on what test was performed or what the price was. Also, I felt I was being coerced into buying a pair of glasses right after my eye exam. I will not go back here.

The staff is very nice, BUT did not inform me that some of the diagnostic tests, which my insurance does not cover, were OPTIONAL. I find this a little predatory. The assistant who did the tests just kept moving me from machine to machine. Then I got the bill for the optional tests at the end and had to pay out of pocket for tests I didnt want or need. The same with trying to get me to order contacts directly from them at a 30% markup over online sources. Not cool.

MyEyeDoctor helpfully sent me a text when it was time for my annual eye exam, so I booked one. only to discover when they were finished that my insurance would not cover it because it had been less than a year, by nine days, I think. I understand its my responsibility to be aware of my insurance coverage, but when my provider, who handles insurance claims all day long, doesnt bother to wait the completely routine one year and reaches out to set an appointment, I assume my provider knows what it is doing. The clerks attitude was oh well. As if it happens all the time and its my fault and this is the law of the world. Thats fine, if that is their approach to customer service. I dont even blame the clerk. I am sure they have next to no qualifications and if they get any training at all its in how to upsell. And they probably earn nothing. So MyEyeDoctor got my money, once, but I will be damned if I ever give them another penny. If they offered any kind of value in their services, I might be more generous, but I also asked them to adjust my progressives, which I had bought last year and which had never been properly adjusted, and the clerk clearly had no idea what he was doing. He returned them to me in a worse condition than when I started, but after the experience with the bill I was done.Your eyes are your window to the world. Go somewhere that treats you that way.

- I was interested in switching from glasses to contacts, and they could not easily help me with a financial cost-benefit analysis to make an informed decision, so Im stuck with glasses for another year.- I brought in my glasses and prescription sunglasses, which they needed in order to asses my most recent prescription strengths. I felt like to get the most accurate reading they should probably thoroughly clean the lenses, and I let them know they were dirty. The glasses came back pretty smudged still after they tested the prescription strength of the glasses.- The optometrist uses a manual (outdated) machine for assessing your vision. At the four optometrists offices Ive visited in the last four years, this is the only one that was not linked to a computer; the doctor turned the dials manually. (As a side note, I was disappointed the doctor smelled like cigarettes. Medical professionals should know better than to smoke; its so bad for you!!).- The eyeglass salesperson was unfriendly, unwilling to read my needs, and wouldnt look me in the eyes. He wanted me to look at case of glasses that were over $400, and I said I wasnt interested in spending that much on glasses. He walked away to chat with a coworker after that without saying a word. He came back and asked me if there was anything I wanted to see, but didnt suggest where I should look for less expensive glasses. I really didnt want to be helped by him, so I didnt even ask. Instead, I asked for him to print out my prescription on paper for me to take elsewhere. Im not convinced he wrote down the exact number my doctor put down on the form. Why wasnt all of this electronic? I have asked for my prescription to be printed out before, and its always been electronic. This place needs to get on board with 21st century technology.I would definitely not go back. Though the optometrist was nice!

Avoid this place under all circumstances. It is my opinion that their intent is to bait-and-switch the customers with misleading sales and packages, then gouge by dramatically over-pricing all merchandise.I also have reason to question their professional integrity; after I disputed their attempt to charge over $300 (to me and insurance combined) for a routine contact lens exam, they were apparently unwilling to release my prescription to alternate contact lens vendors. When trying to place an order with a national lens vendor they repeatedly informed me that MyEyeDr consistently failed to send over the proper prescription. Despite numerous time consuming phone calls, it never was properly sent to the vendor. And very strangely, they asserted that their fax machine was broken when contacted by an alternate vendor the next day. To me, it all seemed closer to the realm of malpractice than that of plausibility.Also...BE VERY CAREFUL ABOUT BUYING ANY PACKAGE DEALS FOR HERE.......such as Groupon or Living Social. What may seem like a good value will result in the realization that you have only purchased a discount for glasses that will be grotesquely over-priced far above the value of the coupon. Be aware of their pricing in advance.
