What a great hidden gem!!! I wandered in while waiting for the framing store, and left with not one, but SIX books. They were all only $2-$3! All the proceeds go to the library to support its extracurriculars. What could be better, its a win win. And the volunteer workers were extremely amiable.

You never know what youll find here, which is why its such a joy to visit this bookstore. Pretty much all the books are three dollars or less (usually less) and I have on more than one occasion found books (typically art books) that would cost eighty dollars or more used on Amazon! They have lots of books from every genre, though sometimes things are shelved in the wrong place. But its volunteer-run and the proceeds go to the library, so who cares. Its a fun place to go if you have a hankering to buy a book, have a little time to sift through things, and dont want to break the bank. Just be sure to bring cash, because they dont accept cards.

The larger of the Friends two bookstores. Prices are good, and there are quite a few books in this store. Unfortunately, the selection usually looks pretty well picked over. Still, youre bound to find something you want there, and perhaps something you really deeply want.

The best bookstore in the Bay Area! Used books, CDs and DVDs, most in very good to excellent condition at fantastic prices (anywhere from 25 cents to $5), and all proceeds go to the Berkeley Public Library. Staffed solely by volunteers. Great place to donate books, CDs and DVDs. Theres even a cart with totally free books. Dont miss it!
