Terrible work environment. Highly political organization where the administration controls what the scientists can do. External users are treated poorly, especially in MSD, ETA and CXRO.

Tour this if you can. Tom and Adam were wonderful hosts. Bad ass scissors. There was quite an assortment of machine tools. The tools were varied in age, size, and function It was hard to fathom the complexity of the different magnet assemblies. My reviews for Google tend to be short so I am just adding words to this one. But in truth the lab tour was incredibly interesting.

Fantastically exciting place. I come to do research here. Not really a tourist destination, but if you have a way to be shown around the Advanced Light Source, you got to take advantage of that. Its the best facility in the world, not just for its location, but its energy and output.

Should change name to Berkeley Lawrence National lab not Lawrence Berkeley. Then its consistent with calling it Berkeley lab.

Great place to take kids. Toddlers to teens will like this place. Lots of different things to do and see. The cafe is kind of weak, but you can bring your own food and eat outside overlooking Oakland and into San Francisco.

We went here on a Monday evening to watch the sunset over the Bay. There were several other people there also. We didnt visit the buildings. Very small parking lot which had broken glass in several areas. Beautiful drive to get there. No restroom near parking. There were some clouds which we had hoped would give us a beautiful sunset, but didnt. I was disappointed somewhat because of the smog which wasnt as prevalent when I lived in the area 20 years ago. It is still a beautiful view of the Bay, Oakland, Berkeley and San Francisco.

As a former student at Whittier school our family regularly visited Berkeley Lab after a swim at Strawberry Canyon to check out the moon rocks and other exhibits in the late 60s. Would play with the Apollo module lander and rocket at my school friends apartment who happened to be Indian. (Gagan Satee) We were always excited to visit the Lawrence National Lab as children, thanks for the memories. A wonderful place.

My group got to tour the CAMS while it was closed for repairs. We got to see the beamline up close and personal (and even Congressman Eric Swalwell). Its awe inspiring to think about all the atom splitting research that goes on there. Scientists from all over the world, if chosen, do research at this facility. The best part though is that some machinery is held together by foil, yes, FOIL.
