This is a super busy, gorgeous campground due to its proximity to the South Sister trailhead. As such, its great to camp out for the night if you plan to get an early start on that climb. However, because its so busy, it is not a peaceful campsite. People will drive in to hike beginning as early as 2:30AM. Cant blame them, an early start is a great idea! Its the reason I chose to camp here! All in all, I stayed 2 nights, and that was definitely enough. I am thankful for the campground, but I recommend to use it only as part of your plan to summit the mountain.

Its hard to beat a lake in Oregon, but its even harder to beat the lakes off the Cascades Lake Scenic Byway.Devils Lake was our second stop, and I was stunned by its beauty. Camping in this area is often isolated, dispersed and lacking amenities. But if you dont care about that kind of stuff its worth a trip. Bring bug spray.

Great place to camp or rent a yurt. Either way there are nice hot showers and clean rest rooms. This place can be easy to miss but is excellent.

It has gotten really busy but most of the parking is for hikers doing South Sister.

There are 12 walk-in sites that are first-come, first served. Its not a short walk from your car, so be prepared to carry your stuff! It is $5 for a day-use pass, but there is no extra fee for camping. The sites go quick, so be sure to get there early!! Each campsite has a fire pit, and is quote far from any other site. They are very quiet, and feel very remote. Beautiful views of the lake!

1. 2 of standing water around fire pit after light rain.2. Next door had to Wade through 3 of standing water to get in camper after light rain.3. The people across from me had a solid mud yard area. Had to go buy tarps.4. Spots are all too small. Cant put a pickup with boat in some.5. Not allowed to park a boat on trailer in boat trailer parking area, EVEN thought didnt have a trailer in it for a whole week.6. Not allowed to rent a car spot to park a boat.Summary: This is the WORST designed state park I have ever seen in any state!

Traffic quiet hours appear to be 11p.m. until 4:30 a.m. So expect to be up early. Mosquitos were amongst the worst Ive seen in Oregon in August. Lake is super shallow and if you are going to swim, Elk Lake just down the highway is likely a better option.

So we went here in June. Definitely be prepared to not get in the water unless you want hypothermia. It is extremely cold. We woke up to snow in June!

This review is in response to Robert Stucker.... YOURE NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE MOTORIZED BOATS ON THE LAKE SO TAKE YOUR BOAT ELSEWHERE. That is all.
