Ann-Marie Barker at Parkwood is an angel. She did an incredible job of getting my parents moved in on short notice. She accommodated them in every way possible to make them comfortable following a traumatic week when their home flooded. My folks came in tired and stressed and after a day they were relaxed and happy. Highly recommend putting your loved ones in the care of the staff at Parkwood.

This facility lacks a lot of skilled staff to care for the residents. My mother has been here since last Thursday and it’s not been pleasant at all. The staff that is suppose to be caring for the residents is not doing their job. If I or my sister or brother is not present at all times our mother receives no help. She’s here for rehab because of recent hip and ankle surgery. They have let her set in her bed on 3 occasions and not acknowledged that she has help and she’s had to have a bowl movement in bed. The staffs excuse is and I quote ( were busy snd I’m helping with food I can’t help you ). There is no excuse for such lack of care. I certainly cannot and will not recommend this facility to anyone. We have reached out to the director of this facility and the head of nursing here. Please be aware people of where you leave your love ones

They have been very attentive to my mother’s needs. Recent renovations have created a warm and inviting atmosphere. They have multiple levels of care which is one of the reasons I chose Parkwood initially. However, the staff is the reason we have stayed. Several months ago I decided to make the decision for myself that I didn’t want my two boys to decide for me ...where I should be living in the future.I made the decision to choose Parkwood. My wife had been here in the past. I have been here for rehab. I felt Parkwood would give me the support I needed for the remaining years I have left on this earth.I decided in the end of 2019 to put my house on the market and have an estate sale.I feel that Parkwood provides a safe place for someone like myself. The staff here at parkwood are very congenial, supportive and professional. I feel like being in the assisted living section that I am allowed to do things for myself but know I still have support from staff and have the care if I need it.I would recommend Parkwood Assisted living to anyone that needs long term care.I also feel like my two boys feel good knowing I am safe here.I also enjoy the activity staff. From the Executive Director to the Dishwasher; the multi-level management staff and nursing/resident care attendants have witnessed first-hand the unconditional love and care that goes well beyond expectation.I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every member of the Parkwood Team Family at reception, business administration, management, nursing, social work, HR, therapy, food services, janitorial, are attendants for the unconditional professionalcaring dignity they each provide to my Mom and every other resident each and everyday. (Circa 1985!) Blinds are broken and dingy. Requested replacement. Didn’t happen. For the cost, I would think fresh paint and furniture isn’t too much to ask. We need to do better for our seniors!! It’s Depressing. Greedy owners could maybe take a few less $$’s and make the rooms cheerful instead of dark and dingy. Shameful. The staff is kind and underpaid. But there aren’t enough activities. To be completely fair and objective, my mother spent only one night at Parkwood before my sister and I moved her to a different facility. This decision was made largely because she requires more physical therapy than offered at Parkwood.Taking into account the newness and adjustment period of having any loved one in an assisted living or rehab environment, I believe the experience of most people, residents and non-residents alike, at Parkwood would be as described. First, the good:The exterior and common areas of this facility are both pretty and welcoming. Many people employed in this healthcare community are friendly and appear sincerely concerned for the welfare of residents. The food, as I understand it, is good. There is a salon on-site for residents and the rooms offer nice views of the very-well-attended grounds. Staff members Lucy Montoya and LVN, Eni McDowell, are outstanding and clearly committed to the residents and their families. The not-so-good: For a patient requiring intense rehabilitation as opposed to a quasi-nursing home environment I would strongly suggest exploring options other than Parkwood. At the one dinner time I attended with my mother in the common dining area, it was painfully clear that, while some residents appeared at first glance as good candidates for rehab, others have likely since expired as I write this sentence. A distinct odor permeates the facility. My sole interaction with the community administrator upon my mothers admission was okay, nothing exceptional, as he seemed nice enough but with what I perceived as a its-old-people-waiting-to-die-here-so-what-exactly-were-you-expecting demeanor. He didnt appear as if he wished to be bothered with too much. The bad: As with anywhere, a few bad apples can spoil the entire bunch and Parkwood is no exception. During her first morning at this facility, my mother waited between 30-40 minutes for an orderly to assist her to the restroom. In fact, she waited SO long that, by the time help made an appearance, urine was beginning to leak. This was evidenced by the fact that, when I arrived at 11AM some 5 hours later, spillage was still on the restroom floor. Once positioned on the toilet, she was literally left to her own devices and had to use a wash rag to clean herself. This soiled, brown rag made a stunning contrast to the sunny, yellow urine droplets as it too was still in the sink upon my arrival hours later. She received zero assistance with dressing herself, and was reminded by staff that she was one of many patients in residence so there you have it. Her room which she shared, was all but barren and without a telephone or clock. The bed was little more than a cot. She did, however, have a television which came in crystal clear, provided several channel options, and had a screen about the size of a standard iPhone-- perfect for elderly residents. Finally, the proverbial meringue on the pie was the bewitching electrical outlet just behind and above her hospital grade cot/bed/pallet thingy and was damn near coming out of the wall.In summary, while youll find many facilities much, much worse than Parkwood, youll certainly find others far, far better. Do yourself and your loved one(s) a favor by investigating prior to admission. Youll be happy you did.

This review is way overdue, but better late than never. My mother, Judy, came here for rehabilitation after nearly dying at another rehab facility due to neglect; according to what the doctors told us. After being in the ICU for 2 weeks and another 2 weeks of hospitalization she was released to Parkwood. They really had their work cut out for them because of the neglect she suffered at the first rehab. She had developed contractures in both legs, I honestly thought that she would never walk again, but in the care of the therapists at Parkwood they did manage to get rid of the contractures and had my mother up walking with a walker. We found the facility to be clean, and a classy foyer to sit and visit with family members. We were able to celebrate our mothers 75th birthday in a nicely furnished dining room. They allowed me to decorate my mothers room with some of her personal things I brought from her home. The staff were caring and friendly. My mother was doing so well there.

How dare this horrible place call me 7 months after my Beautiful mother died! And they have the nerve to ask me rather than place my review on public sites, to please put it on thier website! Really? How awlful of a question to ask? I am appalled! Why would they ask this of me? First off my beloved 64 year mother, who was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer, which had mesasitized to her spine, had major surgery on her spine. She then was recommended to go this horrid place, for rehabilitation. She stayed there less than 1 month. She had great health insurance and her Medicaid was soon to be approved. After about 2 and half weeks in this place they told us that her insurance was going to stop paying for her stay here. They said if she was to continue to stay here we would have to pay for her stay out of pocket, be billed excessively, or she had to leave. They stopped giving her physical therapy even. They bullied me into paying $800.00 to them so my mother could stay. I was even told I would get this money back once the insurance issue was cleared up. That never happened. There was never a real problem with her insurance. Someone in the office, at this facility, just did not do their job. Not only that, but a nurse there would bully my mom at night time. Telling her she has to pay for her medications. They did not give her the meds properly. Sometimes not at all! She suffered in terrible pain. Her bathroom was always in deplorable condition. We constantly had to ask them to clean it. Her stay here was a horrifying experience. My mom was 64 years old. She was a straight minded, well together woman. Her stay here was meant to rehabilitate her and prepare her for the fight of her life. All the stay here did was deteriorate her health more. It was stressful. They treated her awlful. She was not even fed properly. Sometimes not at all. She was forced out and made to go home on Sunday, November 11,2018. And on Friday, November 16,2018 she awoke paralyzed. She was placed in hospice care, inpatient downtown Ft Worth. There she stayed until she died on Christmas Eve, December 24,2018. I never got my $800.00 back. But we know the insurance paid. That money could have been used towards her cancer care, her funeral, her gravestone. It is dirty of Parkwood to do this to our family. Especially my mom. Everytime I walked in there, which was everyday, the elderly were sitting in dining room drooling, sitting at tables that were filthy, and they looked so sad. Do not trust this facility to care for your loved ones. I am shocked they called me and had the nerve to request anything of me! That is so inhuman :(

My neighbor said the staff was rude. I picked him up yesterday and brought him home. I went and got his meds and his pharmacist said she did not under stand why he was getting all his diabetic meds in the morning and she called to make sure they did not enter it wrong. And she said this is how theyve been giving it to him. I checked the sheet of the meds that they sent home with him and it states that they were giving it to him all at once . Called his doctor and that was incorrect he was to get part of it in the morning and part of it as an evening. Plus he was not getting all his meds. I would really question their ability to take care of anyone from what I have seen.

I do not recommend Parkwood for anyone who needs to be in an assisted living facility. There has been issues with Parkwood for many years. I had a friend who went to Parkwood for the personal assistance of a resident per the request of a residents relative and they started prying into my friends business. They asked my friend questions like Who are you?, What are you doing here? Do we have a copy of your background? They told my friend it was their policy to do background checks on volunteers who assist the residents. That is a lie. They are misleading the public about how their facility works and what they do. They had a sign posted on their front door Medicare/Medicaid Inspections are being facilitated on such and such date. It is my understanding they do not accept Medicare and Medicaid. They are short staffed. The staff does not do much as far as assisting residents who need to be fed due to the lack of the use of their limbs, like in the case of a resident having a stroke and who cannot use their limbs properly. It has been stated that the individuals working at this facility are from different countries and cannot read proper English. People from different countries do not understand American psychology or medical care, and how this works for these residents. As a former CNA, it has been taught that if a resident cannot feed themselves they need someone there to assist them. The same rule applies to bathing, dressing, and grooming. The mornings should be scheduled for bathing, dressing, and grooming the residents before or after breakfast per the residents request, not late at night when the residents are in the middle of a deep sleep cycle. There needs to be an investigation into this facility. They charge an obscene amount of money per month per resident and some residents have to share a room, which is not fair. There are those CNAs that do work hard, but others do not and are getting away with it. I recommend that this facility close its doors for good or have new management and staff take over. I am appalled!
