My hubby had a knot on the back of his neck. In May 2016 he had a 30 minute minor day surgery to remove a tiny cyst. 2 hours later I was pacing the floor. Finally he was done, surgery much more on depth than he thought, all clear. Never heard any pathology report results. Oct 2016 had to repeat surgery since drain site closed wrong and, simple snip and 1, maybe 2 sutures, done! Wrong again. This one took 3 hours and he had a cut from one side of his neck to the other, 12 staples, 2 drains and he couldnt work for 3 weeks. All unexpected and ALL unnecessary. Still no pathology or any other test to determine WHAT was really the issue. Advance forward June 2016 and hubby now needs ANOTHER surgery since the knots are all back but you can beat, it WILL NOT BE DR. PINA!

Dr. Piña has been my go to surgeon for 10 years. I had a procedure on Tuesday where his anesthesiologist Dr. Roberts blatantly ignored my allergy list. I discussed my allergies with the entire staff repeatedly during my preop and on the day of surgery. For one stupid mistake I was in horrible pain and feared I had permanent damage to my eyes. Dr. Roberts refused to accept it was an allergic reaction. (As this would mean she’d have to own her mistake) she still claimed I didn’t need allergy medication. I am grateful for Dr. Piña’s staff that advocated for me and were brave to stand up to her and call Dr. Piña for Benadryl & steroid orders. I couldn’t see for two days, the pain and fear I went through I do not wish on anyone. It was very frightening. Again surgery went well. Dr. Piña didn’t fail me but as long as that anesthesiologist Dr. Roberts is still working there I advise you take extra extra precautions if you have allergies. It was a STUPID MISTAKE THAT COULD HAVE & SHOULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED. I discussed my allergies personally with her right before surgery as well. She caused unnecessary pain, suffering & mental anguish. Dr. Piña has since been in contact & assessing me he’s gone above & beyond to make me feel at ease.
