I have been a patient in this office since 2012, having had multiple surgeries. I have been a surgical patient of Drs. Melman, Hegazy, & Joseph. All three doctors are very compassionate and are excellent surgeons. All three have an excellent bedside manner and were not afraid to hug me if I needed it. And believe me, I needed those hugs! My life was saved by them a total of three times. The staff is also very compassionate.

Both Dr. Gordon and Dr. Joseph are the most compassionate caring surgeons i have ever come across. They take the time to explain details and what was going on through all stages. Couldnt have asked for better. THANK YOU!!

I work in a health center and called this office to schedule an appointment for someone. When I called, I was placed on hold for over 5 minutes without any notice of why, not even a quick check in that they will be right with me. So I hung up and called back to complain because I was making the appointment for someone else who was patiently waiting with their newborn in a area where other patients were waiting that are sick. When I called back I asked to speak to a supervisor and someone named Louis (Female, I believe thats the name) who said she was the supervisor. Gave so much attitude and said well we didnt put you on hold on purpose. My concern was the patient and her newborn however this reception staff took it personal. And as soon as I said the persons insurance, Louis softly giggled and PROUDLY said we dont take that insurance. As if it was funny also, not realizing if this would have been asked in the very beginning by the first call before being placed immediately on hold, The other person would not be waiting in an affected sick area with her newborn. Its just sad how the whole phonecall was as if it was personal and its a Doctors office, who staff lost focus on what was important, which was the patient I was trying to help quickly.

I was referred here by the hospital I went to, so I didn’t think to check the reviews first. I wish I had. This place is a horror story waiting to happen. The kind of place you expect to hear of a doctor forgetting her watch inside you. The old ladies up front have got to be some of the nastiest hags I’ve ever dealt with. Same goes for the doctors themselves. No wonder the waiting room was a ghost town when I went in. I don’t know how these people keep the lights on. I never saw anyone but staff there during any of my visits. The only pleasant person in this building is the woman who sets up the scheduling. She was a sweetheart. But man oh man I would not recommend this dump to my worst enemy.

Bunch of frauds. Scheduled me for a free consultation for a workers compensation case. The doctor saw me less than a minute, never performed any tests, and somehow determined that I needed surgery. When I told the coordinator I was supposed to be moving across the country they pushed my surgery forward despite previously saying they had no openings. Seeing that as a red flag I got another opinion. Surprise surprise, after a CT scan and actual examinations from a REAL doctor, I didn’t need surgery. Fast forward a year, I’m getting threatening messages that since I didn’t get the surgery my consultation was no longer free and they’re going to send it to a collections agency. Good luck!

Dr Jho is the best. Personal and professional. He came back to hospital after leaving for the day to do procedure on my wife. Thank goodness as she was on a ton of pain.

First time visit google maps puts you next to toast on S park ave (Not Islands fault). What is Islands fault is I called 5 times to speak to someone to get some direction and no answered at the front desk. I found the place and when I walked in there were 5 people standing by the front desk having personal conversations clearly too busy to answer the phone that rang 5 times consecutively 3 feet away from them. Checked in like I said first time had my ID and insurance card in hand receptionist asked if it was my first visit I said yes receptionist said have a seat I will be with you in a minute ( at this point I was already 4 min late for my appointment). Receptionist clearly had more pressing matters to attend to (joining in the conversation with the 4 other women standing around) than to process incoming patients . I sat down and 1 min later she called me to the front to ask for my... wait for it... insurance and ID cards and to hand me a tablet to fill out paperwork all which could have been done when I was already standing there. She doesnt know why Im there I could have been in pain but clearly her social life is more important than the job which she is paid to do. For such a large office the place was empty which is not surprising based on the front desk . I almost walked out based on the front desk service. I was in for a post op visit with Dr Joseph she was great and courteous which is why I gave 2 stars instead of 1. They definitely need better management at the front desk.

I received the best care at Island Surgical! The staff is very accommodating and polite which I find rare for a health care office. The nurses are excellent, and nurse Nicole is amazing.Dr. Jho is my angel! He literally saved my life with emergency surgery! He is extremely compassionate, educated and kind. I’ve learned so much from him as he always makes the time to sit and explain everything to me. I am forever grateful and highly recommend this practice, especially Dr. Jho.

I saw Dr. Manal Hegazy, she is NOT COMPASSIONATE at all. I was referred to this dr from my primary care. I was in severe pain and she really did care. I was extremely upset, just NOT a nice doctor at all. Would definitely not recommend goingto see her but I requested to see another doctor and I will see how that goes. The staff/nurse is very very very nice, BUT the doctor is the complete opposite. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND Dr. Manal Hegazy, MD.
