This was the worst ER system I’ve ever experienced. My husband fell face first on concrete and being taken to Oschner whom we use. But due to his injury. They were unable to help him. Arrived there at 5:30. Received ct scan n pain shot due to neck fracture at C1 n broken nose. Rest of time (3) hours was just laying there waiting for a transfer to Our Lady of the Lake. Mind you 7 minutes away.So at 12:19 I arrive in their ER. Waiting for hubby. After about an hour I ask for help and was only told go stand in that line.Well. They had no rooms and we were out in the ER hallway with about 12 more beds. Several different Drs came by. But we never saw the spinal surgeon. They wouldn’t even give him water. Cause they did know what to do for him.Well when they started shifting us around andput more beds by us. We said!!!! Get me a wheelchair I’m leaving. So 4 hrs later n nothing done for him. Our discharge papers were ready in 5 minutes. And we drove back to Diamondhead Ms at 4:30 in the morning with a neck brace and told to call his neck Dr!!!!So you tell me why I should even give y’all a 1 star.

This is the worst hospital Ive ever been to. Not only did they literally do absolutely NOTHING for me when I went in February, but the way they calculate your income is insane to me. They use income you no longer have regardless of your current financial situation, miscalculate your yearly earnings, and refuse to re-evaluate your account even when you lose all of the income they used to determine your ability to pay. Further, their payment plans are astronomical and even if you make a payment every single month, if it is not the high amount they decide they send you to collection.

I was admitted a week ago and was giving a certain type of life threatening medication that is still in transit. My Doctor told me I can come to the ER to get the shot. Well these two days have been hell. From the start of the front desk clerk tithe nurses. Its not my fault I got a rare blood type disease but the level of respect and unprofessional is beyond me. How can this happened. I have to take the shot before 7:30 and still have not been called or anything. Not to mention the front desk said if she come up here again she going to leave. Still upset and waiting.

The night shift nursing staff is terrible. My mother is inpatient here with COVID and we currently need assistance with a machine that keeps going off. I paged the nurse station and they stated someone will be here soon. Nobody came. An hour later I walked down to the nurse station and asked for help in my mother’s room. The girl stated they would send the nurse down here. It has now been another hour and nobody has come. We have now been waiting 2 hours listening to a loud machine go off in our ears at 10 o’clock at night …. WORST STAFF EVER. The only reason I’m allowing this place to have a 1 star is because the day shift nursing staff is the BEST! They need a raise! The night shift on the other hand need better management.

I have not been here personally as I live in arizona but my mom just called me literally crying about how this place has treated her.She has been unable to walk for a week due to her sciatic nerve and was forced out the door. She was crying in pain and was being told to walk when she seriously could not, eventually they put her in a wheel chair and would only walk her to the front door where she was told they would call the police if she did not get up and get out. Im embarassed and ashamed of how these so called doctors and nurses treat people. Judging by other reviews someone should really investigate.

Treatment at this emergency room was less than adequate. The nurses and support staff very friendly and helpful. The Dr. did not believe my daughter was experiencing pain. She has had kidney stones before, they treated us like she had no more than a back strain. We kept insisting that she knew what they felt like. She was nauseated and not able to drink large amounts They did urinalysis and made us wait in waiting room for results all the while my daughter was still in pain. They came out and said they thought it was just a back strain and we should wait for our paperwork and go home. We waited and then I went and asked to see the Dr. not the Nurse Practioner, Melissa Phillips, who had the worst bedside manner I had the misfortune to encounter. She kept insisting it could not be a kidney stone, showed no empathy, left us in waiting room. The Dr. finally orders an C T after our continued concern and then they brought us back to a room with no patient table or bed and she can back very combative and kept insisting why it couldn’t be kidney stones, all the while knowing the Dr. ordered a CT and didn’t tell us, just kept berating us in a very loud voice. I told her I was terminating the conversation with her and wanted to see the Doctor. She replied the Dr. was no longer on duty and left. The supervisor g nurse came in and told she was going to put us in a room with a bed and we finally had the C t done. She went to the room and they put heart monitor leads on her? Why now? Another NP came and told us that she had two kidney stones in her left kidney but insisted they were not causing my daughter pain because they were in the kidney and not the ureter now I knew better but I looked it up on Mayo Clinic website there can be pain a lot of pain if the stones are in the kidney and moving which they obviously were. We were never offered an IV of fluids even though she was nauseated and could not drink a lot even after they found out about the stones mind you my daughter never once asked for narcotics they make her sick but obviously they did not think she was telling the truth. We have gone before to OLOL for the same problem and have been treated so much better. NP Melissa Phillips should not be seeing patients she hasn’t the knowledge or temperament to do so

I give it a 2 star because some/few and far between of the staff, nurses and doctors are awesome human beings. Some of the others not so much...I think the dehumanizing, neglect and maltreatment that is done depends on the amount of family, money and insurance a person has. If you love people with a God complex or enjoy people abusing their power and playing favorites...then you will feel at home. I think there should be an investigation into deaths, medical neglect and correlation to vulnerable populations at that hospital. Dont leave your loved ones alone!!!

Absolutely do not care about patient time or comfort. I was there for 5 hours for them to tell me that nothing was wrong. Despite sending me abnormal blood tests, which they never discussed with me. I was there for 5 hours alone and afraid that I had something serious wrong with me since their Urgent Care clinic had told me I more than likely had a bowel obstruction. The doctor basically implied that it was probably because my period was due soon. I threw up four times last night and have not had a proper bowel movement in weeks. But I guess I just got to 23 years old without knowing what a period feels like.I also was here last year in April due to chest pain, arm pain, and shortness of breath. I was told it was musculosketal pain and to take pain reliever. Went to my PCP, I had GERD and esophageal ulcers which caused me to lose 12 pounds. If you have any other options, go somewhere else. They just want to bill your insurance for more time.

The ER has really gone down in recent years. Medical staff was rude, restroom was filthy, fresh blood was on the floor in the waiting room and led all down the floor to the ER. This hospital needs to be investigated for neglect, and the possibility of patients losing their lives as a result of it. My fiance woke up in severe pain. When we got to the Lake, there were so many people sitting in the waiting room sleeping because they havent been seen for hours. And the other people that were up was in so much pain they could barely function. One lady mentioned that she had been waiting to be seen since 10:30pm the previous night. All they did was draw blood from my fiance, and sent him right back to the waiting room. After 4 hours, we just left and I took him to urgent care.

Currently staying here with my mom. This hospital is poorly managed and running an unethical practice. The nurses have been nice, but are clearly overworked and unable to be there every time my mom needs them. Her infectious disease doctor seemed rushed on Friday, she debriefed and then said see you Monday. Luckily, her main doctor has been informative and attentive. However, in the middle of the night when my mom was screaming in agony and could not breathe, i had to run out into the hallway because no one would answer her call. Then, the nurses could not get in touch with a doctor and clearly knew that a doctors assistance was needed, as they were panicked calling many people in and continuously paging a doctor. A doctor never came. Luckily, respiratory was able to get her breathing under control, but had i not been by her side the entire night, I am not sure if someone would have come to help her.The front desk on the 4th floor is more concerned about the rule that only 1 person can be here past 8 pm than they are the patients health. They even sent the nurse in at 8 to kick out my brother, but do not answer the calls made by my mom when she is in pain, cannot breathe, or needs assistance going to the restroom. If I or my brother had not been here, I truly think my mom would be neglected. She is being neglected. This is not due to COVID-19, as I asked the nurse how many covid patients they have and he said not many anymore.Overall, this hospital is sad, terribly managed, and unethical. I will not ever let my mother come to this hospital again and I would suggest if you have a choice, not to either.

I spent 5 days here and overall was a terrible experience. Some things that bothered me so much:> Nurses did not listen to calls for help with IV pump (sometimes waiting hours for help)> Always forgot requests and seemed frustrated when reminded of the requests> Nurses did not seem to know was going on, just did the minimal to help and move to the next person> The doctors were helpful but did not communicate directly with nurses so nurses had a tough time answering my basic questions. That is not the nurses fault.> Food is bad and I was not asked about dietary restrictions. I was given a greasy burger, fries, and cake the night I was admitted. I believe the doctors wanted me on a liquid diet, but no one communicates here.I know this review will never been seen by the higher ups, but I hope this reviews helps make change. I know covid is stressing the healthcare profession, but to have a scary situation a few weeks ago and have to go get help, the hospital made me feel like just a number. A number who is told how much I owe and have to pay something before I even get help is so frustrating.I appreciate the hospital helping me get my situation cleared up but the stay was memorable in a negative way, rather than positive.

This can be harmful to you, the patient. Likewise, some of the Dr.s (Eric Chapman - anesthesiologist) will lie to your face about what they are going to do for you while others (Dr. Keonho Kong and Dr. Phillip Allen) will listen to your concerns and simply not address it or inaccurately document it. I’ve raised kids before and I knew something wasn’t right and they completely overlooked the most obvious cause. Never dismiss a parents concern just because you think they don’t know what they’re talking about because they look young. HORRIBLE PATIENT CARE IN THE ER. Waited for over 3 hours and not 1 person in the full waiting room was actually seen by a doctor. After the 2nd time for them taking vitals, we left. It was obvious they werent actually seeing any patients in the ER that day.

I simply don’t understand. I went to the ER for EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE, and sat down for over a hour without seeing a doctor. Even when my pain and symptoms get worst, I notified the triage nurse and she did not take my complaints seriously. This is how people die waiting in the waiting room. I understand that assist is provided based on critical need, but a appeared abdominal aneurysm, abdominal and chest chest pain is critical, especially if it ruptures! I had to leave the facility because I have small children at home. I did attempt to register online for a later appointment, but was denied and was giving a message stating that my appointment can’t be made because my symptoms require IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION! Wow I hope that I can make it through tonight, I’m definitely going to seek care from my primary in a few hours.

OLOL has always been my medical facility of choice. Ive had one unpleasant experience in the ER (and I have been there several times), but the problem was the personality and demeanor of the out-of-network doctor that I saw. I have never had to wait very long in the ER to get medical attention. As a patient who had a 15 day stay in the hospital once, I cannot say enough nice things about the doctors and nurses that tended to me. The nurses, especially, made the stay just a little less horrible than it could have been.

My mother in law was transported here from the Lafayette area 2 days ago. From the time of our arrival we were treated with respect, courtesy and reassurance that they were going to do everything possible for her. From the nurses, the techs, and doctors/PA’s everyone has been supportive. They answered every single question, made sure the patient had everything she needed, and so much more. I was a little skeptical at first, but seeing is believing. Top notch hospital!!

I can honestly say that if I had to have surgery, it would definitely not be here. The attitudes of some of the nurses are shocking. Whatever happened to nurses checking on the patient hourly especially after major surgery? You can definitely tell the difference between the day and night shift. I miss the days of the older more experienced nurses that actually cared.

How much more heartless can a place be? Surgery first thing tomorrow and the FIRST THING I get today is a call from their billing department with a price breakdown. And some pushy little bill collector girl pressing me to “pay something”. On top of that, they dig up a previous bill from God knows when.I mean WTF?! Do you guess think your some kind of luxury hotel that everyone wants to come to? I know a lot of people use it like that... throwing Super Bowl parties and s$$t in the eating rooms... but trust me... it’s the last place I want to be.So now I’m sitting here, stressed, on whether or not I’m having this surgery in the morning.I feel like saying so much more but between the expletives and the fact that I can’t yell... I feel it would be a waste of my time. Maybe I should call Channel 2?

In March of 2018 I went for annual physical exam which there is no co-pay. I receive a statement a month later asking for the co-pay. I was told the doctor billed me for a office visit in addition to the annual physical because I discussed my medical issues with the doctor. I said that is what you do in a medical exam. I will find another medical center to do business with.

ICU staff is very knowledgeable and diligent in their care giving. Doctors explained everything so that our family understood why our sister was so sick and how they planned treatment. I am so very thankful that my Mom and sister have access to excellent medical care.

Over all incompetent staff. Receptionists and phone directories were unhelpful and unpleasant; I was having a hard time finding the correct office. Missed my appointment due to misinformation while getting zero help via phone or in person. Will never schedule with any doctors at this establishment in the future.

Doctors, nurses, and support staff has been great. But the food service is the absolute worst. You place and order hoping you get what you ordered. There were several days I got nothing that I ordered. And when you try to call and find out, they hang up on you and dont help you. You may be better off to have your family bring you as much food as you can. If it werent for the actual doctors and professional staff, I wouldnt rate it more than 1 star.

My nurse Lauren was awesome she was on top of her game. She made sure I was OK and came every time I needed her. But because of other reasons I will never come back here. I have been waiting for a bed now in the ER for hours its pretty bad that you have to wait for hours laying on a hard ass bed in the ER until you get up stairs. The only reason I didnt sign out AMA was because my nurse Lauren did everything she could to make sure I was OK.

I went to Our Lady of the Lake emergency room last week and it was a good experience (as much as a Emergency Room can be). I waited for about ten minutes then a nurse brought me to the back. My hand was stitched up and I was on my way home within a hour and half. Everyone was so nice and caring. I would highly recommend Our Lady of the Lake to anyone that needed an emergency room.

NEEDS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. Refused treatment to my 1 year old granddaughter, sent me home to die. Thank goodness Earl K Long saved my life. And now my daughter is afraid to bring her african American child to the hospital for fear they will dismiss her ailments again. Don’t know where to get proper care for our child. DEVIL WORSHIPPERS
