This place kills people. I went in with excruciating pain and everyone was incredibly rude. The doctors never gave me medicine, or even a bed! They kept making me go back and SIT in the WAITING ROOM. My boyfriend asked if I could at least wait in the car for more comfort and they screamed at him. Then they told me, after waiting 3 hours for a ct scan, that I had inflammed organs and they weren’t going to do anything about it. When I was upset and walked out, they threatened to call the police because I still had a needle in my arm, a needle which they couldn’t even put in correctly and spewed my blood everywhere. Someone needs to sue this whole hospital.

I waited 4 hours to get vitals taken and another 5 hours to be seen. By the time I was seen I was in so much pain I was begging for Tylenol. I got to the hospital for my appointment at 1700 I left at 0300. It was terrible. I watch people come in after me leave before me over and over. I remained patient. I watched the day shift turn to the night shift. It was the worse Er experience of my life. I would not recommend st Francis Bartlett ER to anyone in serious pain or serious health problems. It would not shock me if people die waiting for care here. The front nurses in the day and night shift were clearly over their job. I attempted to be kind to them and was given rudeness back. I asked how was their day and was given blank stares. I was spoken to in a condescending manner. 0/0 actually I should leave a google review for this hospital to warn others. The worst hospital I have ever gone to! I was taken In by ambulance with high blood pressure, chest pain, shortness of breath, headache etc. The paramedics gave me the best care and was so kind. The hospital staff was horrible! I left feeling just as bad as when I came. Don’t go to this hospital because they don’t care that you don’t feel good. Oh and they treat you even worse if you don’t have insurance. I will die at home before I go back to that hospital! “Enter at your own risk” should be the signs on every door .

Worst hospital I’ve ever been to. The lobby and bathrooms are filthy. The people waiting to be treated are rowdy an inconsiderate of others. Loud people in the ER should be removed, playing music on their phones in the middle of the waiting room . One guy was coughing and spitting his phlegm in the trash can. No wonder covid is spreading so fast with non-sanitary conditions like these. The reception staff is rude and the medical staff isn’t any better. What ever happened to Hospitals that took pride in how they service people that are in need. The medical system is worthless. Never again will I step in this facility. Absolutely ridiculous.

My experience at St Francise Hospital was horrible the moment I got there around 4 pm with chest pain and I didnt get admitted until after midnight. That morning I had a lung biopsy and they drained fluid from my lungs. The next morning I was rushed back to CT because my lung had been punctured by the Radiologist. Sadly this means I spent close to 24 hours with a collapsed lung. They added a drainage tube to my lung while not answering any questions I had as to why the nurse said I have a hole. The Radiologist avoided the real answer. I found out later that day what actually happened by a different doctor. Nurses are not trained to do certain things I needed done. Some said they had no time. There was a major communication issue there. Tons of problems. I was discharged without training on the drainage kit or the home nurse that I requested. I was discharged on a Thursday with a kit that has four in it. I did the first one on my own which was painful and I wasnt sure what to do about it. I am to do this daily. Today is Friday and I still dont have answers. I cant get through to any of my doctors that I am to follow up with. This really sucks. Nobody has apologized

Dr Cardenas did my surgery there a week ago. I read reviews the night before but after thinking about it a second, I knew Dr Cardenas would not do surgeries there if it wasnt ok.I have had 11 surgeries in the last 9 years in other hospitals and believe me, this place was top notch. I was treated so nice from the time I got there, and was well taken care of before and after surgery. I would highly recommend this place for surgery.

Waited for almost 7 hours last night in the waiting room but certain individuals would come in and be seen within 5 minutes. I dont believe that this hospital is biased but when it comes to service black people had to wait extended amount of time and I asked several times why is there such a long wait they would say they are running out of rooms but someone who comes in after 10.minutes they are being brought to the back. This hospital needs to do better because you are supposed to help everyone and not just a select few. If it was a life threatening emergency for some who were they would have probably died waiting to be seen. Who can I talk to about filing a complaint

EDITED TO ADD: Saint Francis requested my contact information 3 weeks ago & we have yet to receive anything but a bill from this place. This place is a joke. Saint Francis, don’t even waste your time commenting asking for people’s contact info if you’re never going to make any effort to make things right because you clearly are unbothered. Do better. What happened to patient centered care and quality improvement? One of my family members was admitted to Saint Francis Bartlett last week. He arrived at the ER under suspicion he was having a heart attack. The waiting room was filled so he had to stand for 8 hours until they finally got him a bed. His 90 minute troponin was drawn approximately 3 hours after the 90 minute mark. When I asked to speak to the house supervisor, they finally started getting things done. On top of all of this, the waiting room was 80 degrees. There is no designated section for patients with respiratory symptoms. There are no masks at the door. Patients are not being asked to wear masks. They are being asked if they would like a mask. This is a global pandemic, at this point, masks aren’t optional in a hospital. It is your duty to protect the patients. This place is like the COVID hotel if you will. As if it couldn’t get any worse, they bring him a SINGLE. COLD. CHICKEN WING. To eat after not eating for nearly 20 hours. Once again, we thought it couldn’t get any worse…. 2 hours after they bring him a blanket, he begins to itch. Everywhere. He sees his PCP following, itching and bumps identified as bed bug bites. This might be the worst hospital in Memphis. Photos attached to show the environment we experienced / bed bugs.

There were Covid positive patients walking around touching the door handles, vending machines chairs etc. Not one space was clea wd during the duration of our visit. And we wonder how Covid is spreading so quickly. This could be one of the main causes. We would not have been there if we didnt require treatment. Nont Covid related. Sad situation.

On Saturday 7/24/21, mother in law, 93, fell & broke her hip. Was transported to a local hospital where her injuries were confirmed. Arrangements were made for an ortho referral at St. Francis Bartlett. Ortho was pushing to have her hip replaced for pain management as best option. When family inquired about how rehabworks with a bad need bc she has no cartilage and uses a walker how does that work? What bad knee? Was the doctors response. Timing didnt work out with communication with the family and the orthos commitments. The anesthesiologist reviewed the chart for hip replacement surgery it was noted she had questionable cardiac issue, they wanted to do a heart catheterization to make sure that she would survive the hip replacement surgery. Patients son spoke to the cardiologist who is going to perform the procedure, and made it clear that she had a DNR and Health Directive, which they did not have a copy of they immediately changed her chart to DNR nothing was said about canceling the heart catheterization. The heart catheterization was scheduled for today 7/26 we were told we were going to be informed as to what time the procedure would be done and expected time she would be back in her room. At approximately 3:30 today I received a phone call from the patients nurse he had just been informed that the heart catheterization was not going to be performed because of the DNR they knew this on Sunday when they were talking about performing the procedure. She is a dementia patient, they have not put her on any heart monitor, have not fed her, have not given her fluids, for 48 hours, do not have her on an IV for fluids other for blood thinner. Now her urine is bloody red & a scant amount. It is my belief that because she was no longer a hip replacement dollar $ or a heart catheterization $ she us a waste of their time. I would not recommend anybody bring any patient to this Hospital ever again they should be investigated thoroughly for malpractice on every account doctors nurses and administration.

ZERO STARS IF IT WERE POSSIBLE!!! I came to the ER after severe upper stomach, side, and back pain. I continued to explain to the provider and nurse despite receiving a “GI cocktail” that was suppose to numb my stomach I still felt severe pain in my upper stomach, side, and back. They continued to argue it was indigestion. I explained I had been belching and passing flatulence without problem. The pain was not a burning feeling to indicate heartburn/indigestion. I continued to explain I’m having sharp unbearable pains in these areas. It’s been 4 days since I had anything by mouth, food or liquids. I only received the “GI Cocktail” and was told it should work immediately and last 30mins. I told them I still felt the pain it must wasn’t working. They claim my labs and X-RAY was good, which was a LIE! About 30mins. after returning home I went to Baptist ER because I couldn’t bear the pain. I had a very bad infection which the incompetent doctor and nurse at ST. Francis Bartlett told me my labs were good. Days later I requested my medical records and surely my labs WERE SCREWED UP!!! So why would they tell me my labs look good and send me home? Yet hours later my labs from Baptist tells a different story. NEVER RETURNING HERE!!! NOW I SEE WHY ST. They released my mother in law while she was throwing up in their wheel chair!!! which was the reason that we took her in (85 years old and on dialysis). They have just now leased my daughter in law with eclampsia, were unable to get her blood pressure down below 160, Baptist Womens was able to get it down in 8 hours, also they never put her on magnesium to keep her from having a stroke, even though they put her in ICU. I understand things are busy but bedside manner is always necessary in this line of business. As an African American female concerns for our care are often over looked and in this case her care was brushed off without offering any type of solution. Thank God I moved him because he probably would have died under St. Franciss care.Unfortunately Baptist Memorial stopped taking Cigna this year and my grandfather was sent to St Francis Bartlett when he became ill again recently. The service was poor with the exception of a couple of good nurses and one specialist. In addition to this my grandfathers personal medication bag and walking cane were missing. My fiancé has a history of chronic kidney stones. He was in the process of passing one. He was in extreme pain and very nauceous. I called his urologist which works next door to this ER and he suggested I take him in to get checked out and said that he would recieve fluids and a series of medications to help him. When we arrived at the ER, the woman at the table by the front doors was very rude with the way that she infromed me that due to Covid, I was not allowed in with him. He waited in the waiting room for 6 hours before he got a room and he never saw a nurse, only the doctor 45 minutes after he got into a room. He told the doctor 2 times the name of his specialist, who works with the hospital, and the doctor never infromed him that he was even there. The doctor came back in not even 10 minutes later and took his IV out and told him he was good to go and that nothing was wrong with him. He never once received any fluids or any of the medication that he was supposed to recieve. I live in Millington and was on the way to pick him up. Millington is 30 minutes from this hospital and they discharged him in less than 5 minutes. He was going to wait in the waiting room to be picked up, but he was told to get out because he was no longer a patient. It was 95 degress outside and he had to sit out there for 30 minutes. ALSO, the paperwork they have in their system is wrong. He had a ct scan done in July and had no stones, but they staed in his final report that he had stones in that ct scan and that they were not in his ultrasound from that day. That shows that the doctor really did not look into his records or history. He went to his specialist the next morning and he was indeed passing a stone and was given the mediciation he should have recieved in the ER.This is not the first time this hosptial has not helped him.WE WILL NEVER USE THIS HOSPITAL AGAIN NOR RECOMMEND IT FOR ANYONE. They didnt tell me they sent her home, only that she might be in the parking lot. They let me use their phone to call her 6 hours after my initial entry, to pick me up after blood tests, CT scan, but no treatment. I told them I was dehydrated, yet they would not give me water, or fluids. When released, I had no phone to find my wife. They let me use a phone. I have no idea where it came from. It was a cordless phone and the receptionist did not wipe it down before handing it to me to call my wife.As if that wasnt bad enough, the phone number showed up on the other end (my wifes phone) as a spam call! My elderly, vulnerable, and disoriented grandmother was taken there by ambulance and the only communciation we recieved was from the nurses when we called the floor. She was in the hospital for three days before we were contacted by the attending physican to explain her condition and test results and that was only after we contacted hospital administration. Because of her illness and altered mental state she was unable to communicate with us on her own for several days. Despite repeated calls over the weekend, no one from administration reached out until I contacted them again on Monday. This facility is a poor subsitute for a high quality health system.

Of course I had issues, it’s SFB, but I’ve been to Baptist and it’s not perfect either. I was able to talk to Administration and address my issues and felt they heard my complaints and addressed my concerns, I would never have had that access to upper management at Baptist. One of the things that concerned me greatly was their lack of attention dedicated to educating their patients to the dangers of sepsis. My husband had an ruptured appendix that was gangrene and was there 2 weeks. And even though he was on heavy antibiotics, not discussing with him or posting clear descriptions and warning signs to the dangers that are associated with this health condition is almost negligent. It was not discussed at discharge other than if he developed a fever to call 911. It’s almost like they were afraid to scare him! Most patients who are discharged end up back in the ER is because of Sepsis. It’s can be fatal and it happens quickly. September was even Sepsis Awareness month and he was admitted Sept 24! Having said all this, I did speak to the administrator about this and was assured that was going to change. Not all patients have advocates and not all advocates know about sepsis. We need all need to take responsibility for our own healthcare and educate ourselves, but the hospital should also disseminate that information to everyone, including their own staff. I hope they do what they said they would. Based on my interactions with them, I am anticipating that to happen and based on the response I received and the actions taken to correct my other concerns, I’m giving them 3 stars.

My husband had an accident that required some staples in his head, CT scans, and some other minor checks to see if he was okay. When I say they took AMAZING care of him, thats an understatement. He was in and out with discharge papers within 2 and 1/2 hours. I am so thankful for the team at St Francis Bartletts ER.

I was very disappointed in the way I was treated while in the hospital or should I say LACK of treatment. I had many tests. My cardiologist was called in because I requested he see the results too. When he looked over my tests he told me that everything looked fine. He changed my medications and told me that I could be released... the time was 11:30 AM. After my cardiologist left I was given more tests. I did not mind the additional test, but the doctors did not come in and talk to me about the results, meanwhile I was waiting to be released. Many times I asked the nurses what was taking so long to be released. They told me that it was because they were waiting for the doctor on duty to sign the paperwork so I could leave. Finally at 6:30 PM I was told that the two doctors who sign the discharge, had both left and they were not answering their page. I was expected to stay another full day which would be another full day of payment. I told the nurse that I wanted to leave and to please contact the doctor because if they could not get anyone in there I was going to leave anyway. Needless to say no one came in to sign the discharge papers so I left. I will never return to that hospital again. Terrible service and they don’t care about their patients.

She asked me if I remembered what floor the patient was in and I told her I didn’t know because I wasn’t allowed to go with the patient. She proceeded to tell me well I don’t know either what type of answer is that. To work at a hospital you have to be charming and have patience. She need to get apprehended because you should give someone that type of attitude.

I was very skeptical about having surgery here because of all the negative reviews. My experience was a very good one. From the time I walked in there yesterday morning until I was wheeled out yesterday evening the staff took very good care of me. I was blessed with a great nurse who really made sure I was okay after surgery. I was on the second floor so that was a plus. They were really nice to me. Now the food, lol not so much good but I was okay with that once my Dr told me I could go home. Thank you St. Francis Bartlett.

The billing department is horrible. I spoke with an agent to get information on a 2016. I waited on hold for 10 minutes before she got on the phone for her to be rude and say she can’t help me find an account number but to call an agency to get it. Then proceeded to hang up in my face when I asked to speak to someone else. I’m confused as to why if the bills were from you all. I called again just hoping and praying I got the same person so I could get her name but it was someone else who was able to assist me just fine with the information. Please work on customer service, especially if you want more positive reviews. Obviously the recorded calls are not being monitored. Please pull my call and monitor your staff. There are other reviews that have same issues with the departments customer service.

If you care about your loved ones, DO NOT send them to St. Francis Hospital Bartlett. My mother was hospitalized April 7th, as she was having blood clots and needed to find out why. Of course, we couldnt visit her due to Covid restrictions, but managed to talk on the phone to a nurse once a day. I have no idea what the quality of care was from the nurses, as we couldnt visit. What I did find alarming is that each day that I spoke to my Mom, she sounded like she was de-compensating measurably. When I was finally able to speak to Moms doctor on Sunday, she said there was no reason for Mom to stay and she would do paperwork for her dismissal. I spent the next two days trying to get Mom released, and on Monday and Tuesday they called me to say they were sending her to a nursing home. Despite my sister having flown back to Memphis to take care of our Mom, and despite me telling them OVER AND OVER not to send her to a nursing home. When they finally discharged her (mid-afternoon no doubt so they could charge her for another days stay) no-one bothered to tell us that she COULDNT WALK OR STAND ON HER OWN. So she fell when trying to get out of the car. The only reason we finally got her released is because I called numerous times, threatening to call the media. If it hadnt been for that, my mother would have been sent to a nursing home and as she died 2 weeks later, she would have died alone and terrified. Adding to all this was the fact that NO ONE working in hospital administration had their voice mail turned on, so I spent HOURS and HOUR every day trying to get through to someone. HORRIBLE experience, if my Mom was still alive I would encourage her to file a medical malpractice suit against St. Frances Hospital Bartlett.

They treated my mother so poorly when she was infected with Covid. They do not practice CDC guidelines of how to care for patients who have Covid. I was unable to see my mom, b/c she needed to be in isolation, and her physician only contacted me after I told the house supervisor that not one physician has let us know how she is doing/it had been 7 days before I heard back from a physician. I would call my mom and ask her to push the call light for the nurse so I could talk with he or she. No one would show up and she was struggling to breath. She was so scared and alone.

My husband had a major heart attack a few years back. Dr. Muhammed Janjua was terrific, saved his life with emergency stent surgery. Excellent doctor. That was the END of terrific. He had another attack later, during the night. I was later told privately by a nurse that he had apparently slid out of the bedside chair and was lying on the floor for an undetermined period of time.....had to be revived with a defibrillator. Then they wouldnt let him out of bed again, gave him Ativan for anxiety, which caused WORSE anxiety. He had a neurological issue at that time (his neurologist suspected Parkinsons, TIAs and a degenerative spine problem stemming from a Navy aitcraft carrier injury). His doctors werent contacted,, despite my requests (out of network, I recall).Kept him in bed, his back was hurting so badly he was in tears. Begged to get back in the chair. We were told he could not because they were afraid he would fall and they didnt have enough staff to sit with him.Pneumonia set in, they literally tied his hands to the bedrails for days and he was on a breathing tube. Terrible nursing, virtually NO physical therapy.Actually overheard a night nurse standing in the hallway, LOUDLY berating the fact that another patient (also completely immobile, on a ventilator) had soiled himself and he had to clean it up so he wouldnt be getting off on time. The poor man was visibly conscious, no doubt mortified that this was being announced to all hands.Short story; my husband walked into the ER with a heart attack.Rolled out upon discharge in a WHEELCHAIR. Never really got out of it again. For the unaware;PATIENTS HAVE THE RIGHT to transfer to another hospital on request if a bed is available. A fact we learned too late. This is the second worst hospital my husband was ever in (Baptist East wins #1).Methodist Germantown is excellent, by comparison.Drive further.UPDATE; No response is requested or desired. I complained repeatedly through the appropriate channels during his stay. This was a heartbreaking situation for our entire family. This place sent my grandmother home WITH CANCER after having her there for her a week for testing. How do you miss that?!?? She was hospitalized around the same time last year with similar symptoms at St. Francis Bartlett, but they released her. I guarantee she has had it this entire time. Now the cancer has spread throughout her body and I might lose my grandmother over this. I beg you- take your loved ones elsewhere. This hospital is a disgusting, corrupt institution. To add to it, the staff here are outrageously rude and disrespectful. While my grandma was hospitalized here, she had to physically get up and walk to the desk down the hall when she needed help because the nurses and staff treated her so poorly. Her room wasn’t cleaned, bloody needles and napkins were left on the counters, all kinds of things. It’s been a nightmare.UPDATE: She has colon cancer and mesothelioma (a form of lung cancer). And this hospital didn’t catch either. If you want your loved one to live, avoid this place at all costs!

Ive liked the doctors Ive seen at St. Francis BUT the overall hospitals business model is a racket. Not transparent. Unfair.Ive been in a billing dispute for over a year. Hospital overcharged for PET scan (told me I needed to pay $1,219 day of and set up a payment plan to cover the other $1,219) when in the end, my insurance covered everything but $382.55 (my responsibility, which I would happily pay!) After almost 50 hours lost on the phone (about an hour call per week only to be told to check in again next week) they quietly transferred the balance numerous employees confirmed I was owed to another outstanding account. No account of mine adds up anywhere near that $1,200.Whats even greater about St. Francis? They have the ovaries to keep sending me bills for $40 here, and $30 there, even though THEY OWE ME HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS.Plus you cant even talk to someone face-to-face because theyve outsourced their billing to other cities. Total shame.I wont be back to St. Francis, and neither will my friends or family, if I have anything to do with it. Go elsewhere with your money and time. Godspeed.

St. Francis Labor and Delivery is absolutely amazing! Words cant even describe the gratitude we have for these ladies. I gave birth to my daughter 2 months ago. From the time I got there they were very attentive and caring. This was my first pregnancy. Erica was our nurse when we arrived. She is awesome! She answered almost every question we had, before we even asked them. She is so knowledgeable and reassured us that everything was going to be okay. Brandy was our nurse for the rest of the time we were there. She was absolutely amazing! She made my husband and I feel like family. My labor was long. She came in to check on us frequently and always made sure I was as comfortable as possible and had everything we needed. She also checked on my husband, even though he wasn’t the patient. Dr. Estepp was our doctor and of course she is the best! I trust her 100 percent. I had no worries at all that she wouldn’t try to do everything possible, if there were to be any complications with my birth. After a long labor, delivery couldn’t have gone any better than it did. We were able to stay in the same room the whole time, instead of being moved to Postpartum. This was a very big deal for me. My husband and I are truly blessed to have had the best team to care for us and our sweet baby girl. We will absolutely be using St. Francis L&D for our future pregnancies as well!

The janitorial staff would just walk in without knocking (super unsettling for a 1st time mom trying to learn to feed), the first meal I had after delivery was supposed to be a chicken sandwich and they left off the chicken 🤦‍♀️ I had to sit in my own blood for hours after my nurse call button was ignored. My friend hurt herself and we took her to the ER on a Saturday night. There was only one doctor working! She needed stitches which took five hours to get done after checking in. Despite knowing she was intoxicated when she checked in, the hospital discharged her without calling her husband who they made wait in the parking lot. Even though he had called five times and left his cell number with the nurses station! They let her walk out the door, drunk. She wound up on Yale, where she could have been hit by a car, abducted, anything!! Thank God, her husband and two Bartlett Police cars were searching for her. First of all they were packed wall to wall, and still took care of us quickly. We were seen by Dr.Richard Donlon and what a fantastic ER doctor. Perhaps the best doctor weve ever encountered in the Memphis area. More Doctors should learn from this gentleman. The entire staff was excellent every step---check in was easy and clear, the nurses and doctors in triage were comforting, but thorough, our nurse Megan that oversaw our care was very helpful and kind. Top 3 Things to Know:Going to the hospital is always unplanned. 3 things that will help.1. For large families have ONE point person to ask, write and collect questions. It minimizes confusion.2. Start planning for going home early- who is taking them & who is staying with them if needed. It will help get your loved home sooner and less stress.3. Schedule a follow up with their family doctor as soon as possible after they go home AND rate great care a 10 out of 10, even if you are a person that never gives anything a 10 out of 10.My mother-in-law was unresponsive when we found her in bed one morning. The ambulance team arrived and started to transport her to a nearby hospital however we changed the request to St. Francis Bartlett. When we arrived Dr. Criner and his team were ready because they had been communicating with ambulance team. They helped to save her life. We were put into the Step down unit where from the new manager - Amanda to nursing aides, and the nurses from day and night shifts were ALL outstanding. They kept us updated on her care, they explained her medications, they rounded on her FREQUENTLY, the lab team were so kind in drawing blood. The environmental care team was OUTSTANDING the level of clean was so impressive. The director for Dietary came to check on her and make sure she was pleased w her food. We came for the care but mother-in-law wanted to stay longer for the good food. She is picky about her food so that is a HUGE compliment. It was a pleasure to see the Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Executive Officer walking the floors and interacting with staff and nursing teams . Seeing that captured the 10 out of 10 service that we know as St. Francis-Bartlett.

Looks like I won’t be setting an appointment for their ER ever..Sounds like it’s time for HR to start cleaning house, because it’s not much of a hospital when a portion of the staff members manners (by reading the reviews)are ill..
