The vaccination clinic needs to work on communication. I drove 30 min to get my first vaccine shot and she says they are not open. Then she says they had “tried to call but my voicemail must not be set up”. There was no email sent. She said she was sorry and that a lot of other people were coming in and being sent away for the same reason. I am a mother of three and a full-time student. My phones voicemail is working fine, I was not notified to reschedule. I think someone needs to ensure this does not happen in the future. It would be appreciated by all.

So went to the ER last night because I was in excruciating pain with my tooth. Got there and was seen by Dr. Lybeck or however you spell her name. She just looked at my tooth and told me she couldnt help me. Then proceeded to tell me she was going to write a letter to make sure I never get help from this hospital ever again. I mean.. what was I supposed to do at that moment when no dental offices were open and I couldnt sleep, while trying everything I could to relieve my pain. I felt it was emergent enough to go in. My whole face hurt and was swollen. I would LOVE to file a complaint against her because she refused to help me and told me I would never get help from that hospital ever again.

I’m writing this review to warn other patients about the lack of care and courtesy from this ER. I would never go back. I will never refer anyone to St Clare. Next time I need urgent care I will go to Madison and suffer in pain the extra time in my car.I’ve heard horror stories of ER and urgent care in Portage. I’ve had a few bad doctors myself. But nothing compares to the lack of treatment and courtesy of the team in that ER on that day. If I could leave zero stars I would.

Was in the ER in February for a tachycardia, no treatment took place, just sent home. Then was referred to the clinic for diabetes... NOT THE TACHYCARDIA I HAD, NOT FOR MY FAST HEART RATE. Today, eight months later I was scheduled for surgery and it was canceled due to MY FAST HEART RATE. The anesthesiologist said I shouldve been treated for MY FAST HEART RATE all summer long. And I should make an appointment with my primary asap, but apparently asap means a month from now.The Specialty Service Office has no idea what they are doing, to many arguments about paperwork with them. And guess what they dont even do it! An office in Madison does!!! And thats only the service here...Last week I get a call from St. Louis, Missouri about making a $400+ pre-payment for a surgey that had yet to take place. Glad I didnt do that, but I will most likely still see a bill for the time wasted this morning.SSM Health is losing a patient and customer.

I was present for my sister’s labor and birth of my nephew. It was a traumatizing experience for all involved. After 11 hours of labor, the doctor and resident continually refused to give my sister an epidural, even after she begged and pleaded, because she was “only” dialated 5 cm. They told her to, “Walk and use visualization for the pain.” Which I’m sure would’ve been great advice in the 20’s. When we asked what the criteria was to receive an epidural, the resident said, “Just when things are different.” Which was obviously useless and made us question her knowledge and education. Again, after 11 hours of labor and refusal to give my sister an epidural, my sister ended up being forced to give birth naturally. Women know their bodies better than anyone. It is terrible that in 2019, my sister had to suffer senselessly because of the below average staff. When we advocated for my sister, we were met with hostility and defensiveness from the nurses and resident. I think it’s important for women to know that this hospital does not have any anesthesiologists, only nurse anesthetists, who are not even on site. Also, I would not wish nurse Tiffany’s bedside manner on my worst enemy. Please protect yourself and your baby and go to a real hospital with a real OBGYN.

I am disgusted with how my fiancé has been treated after experiencing abnormally heavy bleeding following miscarriage complications. She was treated with disdain and open rudeness, while suffering from disorientation, fatigue, severe pain and confusion. The staff ultimately decided that drawing more blood from her was the best approach, despite her suffering severe blood loss. They quickly ushered her out soon after, saying her blood was “normal” and handed her a sheet saying to return to the ER if experiencing any of the symptoms that she was experiencing at the time she walked in! We are currently waiting to contact my fiancé’s healthcare provider and gynecologist to find out what’s wrong while she tries to stay awake. If anything happens to her as a result of malpractice I am going to file a lawsuit. Disgusting.

We came in, already fairly exhausted, at 10:30 PM last night with what we believed to be a broken ankle. We were greeted immediately by attending staff and brought into a room where care began right away. Doctor Emma was AMAZING!!! And so were each of the supporting staff. I was diagnosed with a triple break in my ankle. A Trimalleolar break. We were so grateful for this hospital. 2.5 hours earlier, we attempted to receive care at Mile Bluff Medical Center in Mauston where we were NEVER treated. Never offered a way to even ELEVATE the leg I was cradling due to the pain.... we ended up walking out.SSM Health St. Clare was absolutely STELLAR!

I’m a 15yr old girl who was a patient at this dreadful hospital for OD on Benadryl (worst mistake). I have suffered from depression and anxiety for years. I lost my father at age 11, witnessed abuse, had a manipulative family, and coped with heartbreak so I tried my hardest for the longest time to keep all the anger inside without putting it on anybody. When I OD I blackout once I got to the hospital. I hallucinated so bad they put me in the ER, I had no idea where I was, who the people were, and what I was doing there. I have blur memory as well of being in there. While I was hallucinating all the anger I have held in for years poured out of me and I had no control of keeping it in. A nurse who worked there after telling my mother to go home got in my face and told me to “drop my act.” Only thing I remember was being sat on and told they weren’t gonna get off me till I stopped freaking out, but being a 90 pound-year-old girl who is suffocating I could not stop freaking out. Not only that but I was also not in the right mindset from the drugs that I took before. I hallucinated for about 24 hours. I was told I got sat on to be strained by the nurse who got in my face for attacking her which I have no memory of. I had bruises up my spine and ribs for weeks from the nurses actions. I may have made some poor decisions in the hospital from the drugs but I had no control of myself or what was going on around me. After being sober I have read a victim statement from that nurse that was just horrid, Not just offending me but probably other people as well where she stated “I should probably just let people die but I’m not like that.” A nurse should not be working in the ER if she/he cannot handle ppl who are not stabled enough to control themselves. I hope this does not happen to you or your children in any circumstances. After that terrible service I will no longer proceed to go there and I am very disappointed of how I treated and handled there.

Within 20 minutes of seeing the doctors, I was having blood drawn and pain meds given. My pain was controlled very quickly. My tests came back and it was discovered that I had cellulitis- a nasty bacterial infection of the tissue caused my strep or staph. I had to be admitted; not cool on vacation! The staff were considerate and empathetic!! They had me out the door in under 24hrs! This was the BEST hospital experience that I have ever had! My Son was Taken into Saint Clare with a head wound. My son is a tough kid and was not crying at all when he was brought in there. Against my better judgment I allowed my wife to take him there. The doctor that was on call they’re convinced my wife to put staples in my child’s head versus sutures because according to her at Saint Clare they don’t do sutures in a child’s head because of the hair. Anyone that knows anything about Staples they have a high rate of infection more then sutures do and the pain is a tremendous amount more than sutures. My son was only given a topical numbing agent That barely numed his wound. As they took a staple gun and Stapled my six-year-olds Head as he screamed because the pain this was so intense for him he almost passed out from pain in the car on the way home. As healthcare providers they should know how to treat children and how to treat adults there should be a line that is drawn between the two and I don’t think they can see the line between the two at This Hospital. I called to complain and was hung up on as well as passed around on the phone to speak to several different people untill I was finally told that someone will have to call me back the gal I spoke to I told her I didn’t want to speak to anyone that evening that was on the floor At that moment I wanted to call back in the morning and that I told them you can bet that I will be calling the girls reply was sarcastically I hope you do and she hung up on me and all I heard was a dial tone now I Was not belligerent with her I never called anyone out of their name and I treat everyone with respect other than maybe getting a little short with someone I never was disrespectful spa was not belligerent with her I’ve never called anyone out of their name and I treat everyone with respect but if this is how they treat a parent that is concerned about their child and the care that was given to him or her, I think there needs to be some training. I will be following up with a call to the hospital administrator in the morning however I am doubting very much that I’m going to get anywhere with this I guess I’m writing this to let anybody else know not to take your child to St. Clair if at all possible. This is a tourism community and alot of traffic especially in the summer they get from tourists please if you read this take your child to Portage Divine Savior or take your child to Reidsburg but please don’t put them through what mine went through at Saint Clare Hospital. Hospitails like this they call a broken bone and cut Hospitail but I don’t even know if you could take anyone there for cuts anymore...... .

If I could give a less than 1 star review I would. My daughter was brought to the ER on a Saturday night. The staff was so rude and very judgmental. My daughter thought someone had slipped something into her drink. They just assumed she was intoxicated. Refused to do any testing, gave her fluids and anti nausea. The did not listen to her explanation of the way she felt or how much shed had to drink. I asked for another blanket for her and the nurse practically snarled at me. Another nurse gave us her discharge papers, before the doctor even signed off. He seemed genuinely surprised that we were leaving already. I am not an overly protective mother. My daughter is not a hypochondriac. I know when shes ill and when shes not. This was not normal behavior for her. I thank God that we are from the Madison area and will not have to experience such horrible treatment again.
