On November 30, 2020, I celebrated the fifth year anniversary of my Whipple surgery for pancreatic cancer. Only 9% of pancreatic cancer patients survive to five years. I credit my membership in this small group to skill of Dr. Gushchin, to his knowledge, and to the decisions he made during my surgery. Not only am I a survivor, I am in good health, with little effect on my quality of life. Dr. Gushchin is professional and very frank, medically speaking, while remaining kind and cordial. Dr Gushchin is very knowledgeable and professional in his demeanor. However he is kind and makes you feel at ease when you are discussing your health concerns. So glad he was my surgeon during one of the most frightening times in my life. He is the best!

A lot of doctors are technically skilled, as is Dr. Gushchin. The main reason I gave five stars was Dr. Gushchins concern for my comfort before, during and after surgery. He spent time talking to everyone in preop. double checking to make sure things would be setup in a way that worked best for the procedure and for me. He was not overbearing or anything like that. But, he made sure everything and everyone was working together for my benefit.
