I have only good things to say about Dr. Ciotola and his staff. EXCELLENT! Dr. Ciotola replaced my right hip on 6 August and my left hip on 1 October. Today, 20 October, I walked nearly 5 miles, over 11000 steps.Mercy Hospital also has a great wrbsite where you can pay your bills, read info and ask questions. My questions are usually answered within hours. Hours, not days - truly amazing!

Dr. Ciotola replaced my knee then replaced my hip then had to do it again 1 year later because the hardware was moving. Still I made an appointment for my husband to get his knee drained. He ended up recommending a knee scope 2 days after my husband had a blood clot 2 weeks later died from blood clots bursting in brain. Now I am not saying he did anything wrong but after my husband didn’t return for his sutures to be removed. I ended up calling there to speak to Dr. C I had to leave a message. Well I got no response not even sorry for your loss considering I had been a patient for a few years. Terrible bedside manner but wasn’t like that when I first started going there. Oh and if you are overweight and have any sweat bumps in your enclosed areas he will embarrass you in front of everyone in the OR. Sad for a professional

Had my initial Appointment with Dr Ciotola July 2021. He was very kind and knowledgeable, he took the time to go over my MRI and the new xray they took at Mercy. I was told he could “fix me up with a new hip”, and instead of having to make an additional appt. , he sent me right over to his surgical coordinators office , where she gave me the entire surgical packet, gave me a surgery date , and I left there feeling like everything was answered . As I’ve mentioned Dr Ciotas name in my home town , I can’t believe how many people love him and Mercy for their hip and knee replacements. Im thankful he was recommended to me so I’m forwarding the blessing !

Dr. Ciotola is an amazing doctor. He was recommended by my daughters friend. He is very knowledgeable & kind.I met with several other doctors, but he put me at ease & gave me the confidence to have a total knee replacement. I had to come from Camp Hill, PA, but Im so happy with the results. I had the surgery two months ago & Im back to normal & doing everything I did before I injured my knee. His staff is very caring & Mercy Hospital is the best.If I ever need another orthopedic surgery, I will definitely go back to Dr. Ciotola.

He has great bed side manners, which I love. Everything is explained in detail to you before you hit that surgery room. This will be my 3rd hip replacement and ive also had 2 decor compressions.(I WILL NOT GO IN DETAIL ABOUT THE JERK WHO DID THEM)I tell everyone who is having problems to go see him. They will be impressed. He laughs with you, he doesnt come across as if hes better then one or another. Just around a great Dr.Thank you

This man is a fraud. He performs so many surgeries a week you are no longer a person. This is assembly line surgery. I had problems from day one after surgery. He tells me to see a psychologist my pain isn’t real. I couldn’t get a hold of anyone in his office before surgery because I had questions. They were friendly at ignoring me. They would get visibly annoyed I wasn’t acting correctly. I wasn’t allowing them to treat me like a number. He came in to mark my leg for surgery he didn’t say a word. He scribbled on my leg. It wasn’t an attempt to sign his name it was a mark. It looked like a two year old did it. Why is this important. It is important because it illustrates a total lack of regard for treating patients as individual people not another number of the day. There is no pre op communication and no post op. There was a very kind PA that helped me when I got an infection. Dr Ciotola never mentioned the infection never talked to me about it. He just told me everything looked great. This was 3 days into my infection. He seemed visibly annoyed also. My infection, which was superficial, was not part of the plan so he just ifnored it. Ignoring and not admitting problems is his go to move!!!

Dr. Ciotola and his staff are exceptional. Dr. C was able to fit me in for an emergency surgery well after his normal working hours and made sure I received top care at the hospital. His satellite office in Ellicott City made my post-surgery follow-up visits hassle free and most convenient. All around great experience for a first time surgery. Thanks Dr. C!

Ive been been a patient of Ortho-Maryland for years and experience knee problems since I was child. Ortho always said there was nothing they could give me for pain and I need a knee replacement at 40. I visit Dr. Ciotola and he started giving me knee gel injections and the pain slowly went away. Thanks Ortho for no help when bone is rubbing on bone weighloss is not always the solution when you already lost weight.

Dr. Ciatola did a TKR after another doctor botched it twice. I was amazed of the lack of bruising after surgery compared to the other two.Between the expertise of Dr. Ciatola and the care of the nursing staff at Mercy, I can honestly say everything was excellent.

It has been one year since my hip surgery at Mercy. I had a Anterior Hip Replacement on my right hip. The program at Mercy is so well organized from start to finish. The class before surgery is very informative. Dr.Ciotola is a wonderful Doctor and I will always highly recommend him and Mercy Medical Center. If you can say that a hospital stay is pleasant this is certainly one hospital stay that was pleasant. Thank you so much Dr.Ciotola and the staff at Mercy Medical Center. Earlene Langfield

I am so grateful that I was recommended to Dr. Cioltola. I had experienced a very rude and unprofessional orthopedic doctor prior to meeting this mild mannered focused doctor. He was professional and right to the point. I Never had surgery before and he made a world of difference in my life. I was comfortable and any fear that I had was eased. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing a hip replacement. He will be my first preference any time I need any type of orthopedic surgery again. Dr. Ciotola.was God sent to help and touch people lives, if you let him. The focus he manifested was something I really admired. He is a gifted man. Staff was wonderful and the whole joint program for partients was phenomenal. It covered all aspects of surgery before, during, and after what to prepare for and what needed to be done. They also gave you resources if you had questions, concerns, or complaints. Mercy Is a wonderful and professional hospital.

Dr Ciotola came highly recommended to me by my doctor and many friends. From my initial visit to my last follow up appointment after surgery , I received excellent treatment. Dr Ciotola and his staff were all extremely friendly, informative and very helpful. My injury required surgery as soon as possible and his staff was great with getting insurance approval and everything done prior to surgery. It has been over a year since my hip surgery and I am could not be happier with the results. I have and will continue to recommend Dr Ciotola to family and friends.

I started seeing Dr. Ciotola when he was still at Howard County Hospital. I had fallen and chipped a bone in my knee. He took care of that and told me that both my knees would eventually need replacement, but I was too young to do it at that point. Six years later, I looked him up and told him, Lets go.He did a partial in both of my knees, a week apart. It has been five years since then, and due to other med reasons, I have fallen a lot on my left knee, He repaired breaks and a broken partial and eventially removed the knee cap. He has also performed several shoulder surgeries on me, and has worked with my hips. I would not let ANY OTHER Dr. touch these bones. I trust him with my life. Besides, I figure I have already paid to put all his kids through college,LOL a little joke I have with him.

Dr. Ciotola came highly recommended and replaced my right hip using the anterior method, which was a breeze compared to my left hip replacement which put me on crutches for 6 weeks as well as weeks of physical therapy. With the anterior method, I went home the day after surgery. There was no physical therapy. I just walked with 2 crutches, then 1, then a cane and then walked normally within several weeks. He also did a revision on my left knee replacement as I never regained full flexibility with my left knee. The left knee is now doing great! I recommend Dr. Ciotola to anyone with orthodpedic issues.

Dr Ciotola preformed a Lt Total Hip Replacement on me about a year ago. He and his staff were wonderful. Shelly was very informative, kind and helpful. She called when all my pre-op work was done to let me know all was good to go with surgery. Sam is always pleasant with working with my schedule for appointments. Since my Hip surgery, I injured my Lt Knee, I cant have an MRI due to having an ICD in my chest , Dr. Ciotola gave me a cortisone injection in the knee. Hopefully surgery isnt needed. Have recommended Dr. Ciotola to family members and they too have been pleased with him and his staff. Thank you Dr. Ciotola and staff .
