DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY! It is new, so looks good. But the staff was negligent in the care my mother received. Their communication is non existent. And when I tried to talk to staff about her care plan, every person had a different story and none of them were following orders set up by her specialist and the hospital. It is an awful place

It’s a beautiful facing the outside but don’t send your loved one on the inside. They won’t give haircuts. Men are starting to look like monkeys. They use Covid to be cheap and lazy. I guess it’s hard to get good help these days.

There were so many issues when my mom was in there for 3 months. The Director refused to answer or return phone calls. We never spoke to him once. We spoke to the head of nursing, Joan, and she paid a lot of lip service IF she ever answered your calls. The food was good initially but got so bad she was being fed dry cereal in the morning because they ran out of milk for a few days. Also, because they wanted to keep every bed full, they.put screaming dementia patients in the same wing as regular patients. They did not care who was disturbed.I could go on and on about their lack of care and concern for their patients.

The facility is beautiful but getting responses from staff is very difficult and they get defensive when you try to talk to them. Each employee has a different set of policies they are enforcing. They are disrespectful of visitors and I worry about them being the same with patients. We, of course, cannot know that since we are not allowed in.

I’m not sure why most of the negative posts are saying they are fabricated because they are very similar to my experience with KRTC. I stood outside for an hour and half looking at employees while calling on the phone. The administrator, Cory still does not have a voicemail set up after a year? I also found their social worker unprofessional. My loved one’s complaints included no one checking on him for almost an hour, lack of communication between shifts (the Rn gave him his meds at 6:30am then next RN tried to give him same meds at 9:30 am. Thank God he had the mind to know) and a bedside commode with no bucket. Cory stated, and I quote “I’m so proud of my staff for their improvisation skills. They could have just told him to poop in his bed”. I moved my family member out after 3 days. Would never allow family to go there.

KRTF is as good as you can expect of a facility like this, especially in the COVID-19 environment. They treat their patients very well, HOWEVER, it is almost impossible to communicate with anyone unless you physically go to the facility. With the exception of the nursing stations on each of the patient wings (A,B & C), when you call you are directed to answering machines that are either not setup or that I assume no one ever monitors because I never receive return calls. The Admin extension has not been setup for at least the 9 months I have been trying it. My mom has been there for 6 months and we have had only minor issues or complaints, so with the exception of the communication issues, we are extremely grateful for this facility and their staff.

This facility has the lowest sense of human kindness I have ever seen first hand. My family would go visit our grandmother but because of Covid the visits were through her room window. We used a cell phone on speaker to communicate with her on our visits. My Grandma was here for months recovering from a stroke and was treated like she didn’t matter. The nurses would deny her water stating the kitchen was closed. They were rude, never had time to adjust her position in bed, took hours to respond to simple requests. No one should be treated this way. On one visit my grandmother was yelling on the top of her lungs “enfermera ayuda!” And they wouldn’t come into her room, I had to call the front and ask them to transfer me to the nurse assigned to her wing. When the nurse answered I told her that my grandmother was yelling for one of them to go help her and the nurse simply hung up the phone. It took her 15 minutes from the time I called her to actually walk into the room. I’d list names but the nurses would flip their name tags so we couldn’t see their names

I have spent more than my share of time with family in many different facilities like this. I was very impressed throughout my father’s most recent stay. Wonderful nurses and aids that gave great care with compassionate bedside manner added to the talent of the physical therapist and top notch gym equipment. They got my Father home, strong and happy! That’s impressive!

This place has the best therapy and care in town. My mom was there for a few weeks due to a stroke and she is doing so much better. They work with her daily and gave her back what we thought wouldn’t be possible. The nurses were extremely helpful and compassionate with her through out her stay. I have to say that everyone there treated us like family. The marketer that help get us in there was very helpful, insurance wasn’t an issue we didn’t even discuss it. What we discuss was my moms needs and she focused on what her facility can do to help my mom. I highly recommend this place. Thank You Kern River Team for making a difference in my moms life.

My Mother was recently a patient at KRTC for 6 weeks and we wanted to Thank you all for a wonderful experience. The Staff was very attentive and if we had any questions or concerns we would ask the staff and they would always respond in a timely manner. My Mom had nothing but wonderful things to say about her care team, PT and OT Therapy along with her nursing staff. We had peace of mind knowing that she was being well cared for while away from home. She is going to miss her gourmet meals she looked forward to daily and her weekly manicures. Her recovery was a team effort and you all came through and went above and beyond. Thank you again for all your help and support with my Mom🥰

If you had to choose where to place your family member for short term therapy, this place is the one. Yes its new but thats just a plus, the most important part is the therapy and care. Therapy team is amazing, the care was great, we had a couple of hiccups but nothing that was serious, with the help of the ladies in the front admissions office, they took care of it instantly and always willing to help when needed. This place deserves a 5 star. Thank you to everyone!

Lost my fathers body for three days after he died in their care. Instead of contacting the Neptune society as instructed they called the Bakersfield morgue and released his body without documenting who or when picked up his body for transport. Then 3 days later called me to ask if I knew where he was. After locating his body the Director called The Neptune society to complain that the facility had charged them $200.00 for a dry run and would be charging Kern River Transitional care an additional fee to retrieve him from the morgue, then added that they should be given a break because they were really busy. Unbelievable !!!!! Patient beware.

Kern River Transitional Care was a pleasant surprise, after my surgery with complications I did not know what I was supposed to do. With their supporting staff all I had to do was lay there and heal. The nursing staff on a continued schedule monitored my vitals, administered my medication, and with a push of a button was at my bed delivering whatever services I needed courteously and with 5 star customer service. The Chefs planned a diet with me and made delicious meals according to the diet I was on which helped me shed 30 unwanted pounds during my stay. Excellent courteous service from The Administrator, Chefs, Therapy Trainers, Nursing Staff both RNs and CNAs, and Housekeeping. As a whole I would compare this facility to a 5 Star Resort. This facility made recovering a lot easier for me.

My husband was a patient in this facility for three weeks after surviving a very serious illness which had kept him bed ridden for over two weeks. When he was admitted to KRTC he could not even stand up let alone walk. The therapy staff worked with him daily, the nursing staff provided excellent care, including making sure he got back and forth to dialysis three times a week. The dietary staff worked with him to provide him with meals that met his dietary restrictions but also appealed to his likes and dislikes. Three weeks after he was wheeled into the facility he walked out and has made a full recovery. We will always be very thankful for the kind, compassionate and professional care he received at KRTC.

I recommend going there because you will be in a state of the art facility with a caring staff that take good care of you and get you back on your feet. When I entered the facility I had just been released from San Joaquin Hospital where I had been in there for treatment for Septic Shock , and I had been in a coma for 7 days in the ICU. Unit out of my 15 day stay there.I entered Kern River Transitional not being able to sit up or walk nor were my kidneys functioning, I was told only the good lord and time will tell if I would be able to walk again or if my kidneys would ever function again with out Dialysis. It was a nightmare for me I had always been independent but now I was confined to a bed and a wheelchair, but now I was dependent on my CNA,s Nurses and Therpy staff to take care of me , transfer me from a bed to the wheelchair to try to see if they could help me start walking again, by the time I left I was able to walk out of the facility on my own.Today I have the up most respect for the Staff at Kern River Transitional Care and I’m proud to call them my friends. Thanks To Cory for allowing me to be admitted, and to the Admissions Staff Liz And Angel .I would just like to add, you just don’t make this story of what happened up it was the real thing I hope what happened to me never happens to anyone , but if it does please consider Kern River Transitional Care .By the way I’m off Dialysis treatment now my Kidneys are working again, and was able to return to work with no restrictions. Thanks Larry Suniga

I have been a resident here at Kern River Transitional Care for almost 3 months and I can say KRTC is all about quality care for all the residents. Whenever I had a concern the Administrative staff listened to me and acted promptly to resolve the issue. When I arrived here every muscle in my body hurt. I could not walk and had no upper body strength due to a horrible car accident. A Hoyer lift had to be used to get me in and out of bed. It was a painful, humiliating and an embarrassing experience. Within a few days I realized that with the skillful, cheerful, encouraging, joking and loving CNA’s I was in good hands! All the negative feelings melted away. The CNA’s are fantastic! The Occupational Therapy and the Physical Therapy Teams are outstanding and knowledgeable! From day one, OT and Pt worked with me, guiding me through my healing with creativity and encouragement. I hate exercising yet, they make it fun! Each of them has a good sense of humor! I enjoy going to OT and PT every day!I believe the Certified Nursing Assistants along with the Occupational and Physical Therapy teams are the life support of any facility. Everyone here is so kind, compassionate and supportive. I believe Kern River Transitional Care is setting the standards high.

Theses 5 star reviews must be fake or from staff because my fathers stay there was anything but 5 star....my father had his light on for assistants to the bathroom and the nurse told him to go in his diaper because they didnt have time to get him up to... when my father called me and told me this i went down there and spoke to the administrator corey and he told me if i didnt like the care my father was getting that i can take him home, so thats what i did i took him home i just couldnt belive that this kind of stuff happens at nursing home ...kern river transitional care is a new facility but thats all it has going for it take it from me worse place ever ...staff and therapist have no compassion and dont care and that administrator needs to put his family member there and see how he likes its when they dont get help thumbs down for u and your staff
