Dr. Patrick Slater and his assistants really were special and caring today. The best thing I experienced at my first visit is that I wasn’t rushed out like most of other doctors. He and his staff really took the time to listen to me then gave the best approach towards my treatment. I left the clinic feeling being in good hands honestly.I highly recommend Dr. Patrick and Austin Ear Clinic.Thank you for being special.

Austin Ear Clinic, led by Dr Patrick Slater, has been superb. I’ve had a nasty inner ear disease for 30+ years and have been seeing Dr Slater ~23 years. It’s incredibly difficult to deal with an inner ear disease that exhibits widely fluctuating and debilitating symptoms, all from an area the size of a pea. In this regard, Dr Slater has been brilliant and miraculous. He’s even managed to restore hearing that was thought to be irreversible. His methods are deliberate and wise and, most importantly, he hears every word you say without just talking AT you. This approach makes it a synergistic Dr-patient partnership where you can feel confident about the treatment going forward. His ingenuity is only outmatched by his humility, and that humility goes a long way. When you come to realize that you’ve got the most talented ear Dr, the only thing left is the correct path forward in treatment, and his humility gets you there. Andrew, Dr. Slater’s Physician’s Assistant, who has been there awhile now, exhibits all the same traits, and it’s an easy visit every time even though Dr visits can be automatically stressful just to get there. I’m grateful to have these guys helping me out.

I have only great things to say about this practice. They have been helping me with acute hearing loss for the past few years. Andrew has been especially awesome. I recently had an exacerbation of my hearing loss while out of state and the entire staff went far beyond what could have been expected to get me treated and seen as quickly as possible. Being a health care provider myself, I can appreciate when a practice and providers do right by their patients. This is a great group of people who truly care for their patient’s well-being. A local ENT doctor referred me to Dr. Slater for my otosclerosis, because hes an expert at the stapedectomy procedure to treat it. The procedure was a success and restored my hearing. Plus all the office and medical staff were prompt and pleasant. Thanks Austin Ear Clinic!

I needed an adjustment on my hearing aides but they were fully booked. DC, at the front desk, said she would call if something opened up - someone cancelled that afternoon and I was able to come in the next day! I had an important business conference and my adjustment enhanced my ability to effectively communicate for a successful conference. DC went above and beyond to try to accommodate and I am thankful for her excellent customer service!!

Was it pleasant? Oh hell no, but they were cauterizing my sinuses, I wasnt expecting anything else. Not their fault.It was also a treatment I thought would break the bank... But nope. Im a self-pay customer, and I can actually afford the treatments they provided.Friendly and knowledgeable staff. You need ENT services? Cant go wrong here. 👍

The clerks were professional. The audiologist was pleasant and professional. Andrew was great as always. He was not rushed and addressed all of my concerns. I forgot to mention a concern I had. I love Dr. Slater and his team! They truly care about their patients! 😍 I started my menieres journey almost 10 years ago. Ive had a Shunt in my right ear. I had a shunt in my left ear, a balloon sinuplasty, and a tonsillectomy all done by Dr. Slater and his team. They were patient listened to me and addressed my concerns. Im so happy that I choose Austin Ear Clinic and it is definitely worth the almost 2 hour drive.

I called to make an appointment and the lady who answered was very rude and short. She acted as if my business was not important to her. Very unprofessional.

They scammed me at the hospital, saying that I could claim this under my insurance. They gave me a form to sign that states that they are out of network. Scammers!

I couldnt have been happier with my experience at Austin Ear Clinic. Every single person I interacted with was compassionate, caring and trying to do what they could to not only help me feel better, but not break my budget in the process. I have horrible insurance so everyone tired hard to help me get better and not lose my shirt to do it. Ive had Vertigo for months and was beginning to lose hope and think it was never going away. After one trip there I can actually see a light at the end of the tunnel.This is the place you should go to first! You wont have to waste time and money going to anyone else.

Be waiting since 2018 to get our daughter cochlear implants. Each time we call they tell us they lost the paperwork, or there is so sort of issue. We have done everything they have asked, but to no avail. Very disappointed at there commitment to customer service.

The Austin Ear Clinic has been fantastic in helping find a diagnosis for my dizziness. All procedures have been explained in detail and a smooth process. Much gratitude in the timeliness to get appointments and procedures done.

Most awful experience, went in because of a new onset of tinnitus. The doctor didnt even touch me. He didnt look in my ears , look in my nose, look in my throat. He basically said its a chronic problem get used to it and also theres a possibility that I may lose my hearing. Never would recommend this place to anyone.Oh and another thing, My hearing test came back normal. Oh they did offer to inject steroids into my eardrum. I asked him because I was fearful of the preforation of my eardrum and he said its skin it will heal. Ask him what the success rate of this was since I felt this was a pretty extreme measure and he said about 40%. I was devastated when I left there and felt helpless.Went to a second ENT and they were so helpful, did a thorough exam and diagnosed me with eustachian tube dysfunction and gave me a 21-day treatment with medications with a 3 week follow up. We would then decide on additional diagnostics at that point.

Austin Ear clinic staff is fantastic! They have done a great job at taking their time and explaining all test results and what to expect, as well as diagnosing the reason for my dizziness and vertigo. Definitely recommend them!

I am very pleased with the care and attention I receive from the full staff and medical teams at Austin Ear Clinic. I am always at ease when making my appointments, especially after doing something stupid like shoving a Qtip into my ear and planting ear wax on my ear drum! The teams are confident, caring, and professional in resolving my hearing issues and you just feel safe as they do what they do! Kudos to Dr. Slater and his administrative and medical staff! I really liked that Dr Slater was down to earth, funny, and interesting to talk to. He is not one of these physicians who has some sort of complex and expects you to treat him differently just because hes a doctor. He seems to be extremely competent, but hes also a really nice guy with a quirky, funny sense of humor. I felt that his staff was truly amazing. From Robert at the front desk who was extremely helpful, to Emerson the patient education specialist, to pretty much everyone I interacted with at the clinic, it was a really positive experience. What struck me the most was the time that was spent explaining my vertigo to me, and how it would be treated. I have never had a doctors office spend as much time with me, helping me to understand my situation. Pretty awesome! I was very impressed with the staff, in particular, Emerson Park, the patient education specialist. He spent, literally, an hour going over my symptoms, ways to treat my symptoms, and causes of my symptoms. I highly recommend Austin Ear Clinic.

Dr. Slater, Andrew and the rest of the office/staff spend whatever time is necessary to actively listen to you and discuss in detail the optimum treatment for you. All your questions are given optimum importance. Plus, they are the best at what they do.

Dr. Slater is a talented surgeon. Through a complex procedure, he was able to restore my hearing in one ear to normal levels where two other doctors had failed. Andrew is an excellent PA who has gone above and beyond to help diagnose and treat my condition. Ive been extremely happy with the services and staff at Austin Ear Clinic over the past 5 years.

I was impressed with the friendliness of all the staff from the receptionist, to the gentleman who tested my hearing, to the young lady who took down all my information, to the PA, Andrew, and Dr. Slater himself. It appears they have a good office procedure to take one, especially a new patient like myself, through all procedues.

Staff had amazing energy, But The doctor did not take me seriously. Prescribed me medicine that made it worse and didnt even look in my ears or ask about my symptoms. I WANT MY MONEY BACK.

Dr. Slater, Andrew and all the rest of the staff (that I cant seem to remember their names - especially in audiology) have been superior in their approaches, professionalism, empathy, and just plain common sense. Explanations of this condition of Menieres (which I had never heard of) and expectations of treatment have been realistic with follow-ups to address my lack of progress as desired. Great bunch of folks with excellent technician support...did I mention audiology?

My previous review was less than salutary. However, when was the last time a physician phoned and talked to you directly? Dr. Slater did just that on 3/21. The procedure for determining a cochlear implant is a complicated one, with other options available to increase a pts hearing. We went through all my complaints and questions step by step, all to my satisfaction. The old bugaboo of breakdown of communication was addressed. He also supported a staffers recommendations re hearing aids UNTIL SUCH TIME AS I MIGHT BE A BETTER COCHLEAR CANDIDATE. He suggested we talk again six months, at which time hesuspects my hearing will have deteriorated enough that I should be a cochlear candidate. I look forward to that.

4/5 stars because I didnt like Dr. Slater. The staff was really sweet, professional, and knowledgeable. The receptionist, nurse, and hearing test specialist treated me very well and not like I was just another patient for the day. I overheard the doctor mocking me outside of the door before coming inside and greeting me. It was awkward. I will say though he found the exact spot of discomfort. Although he really didnt narrow it down to what it could be or take photos/xrays. Gave me a RX to kind of see what would happen. After the doctor left the nurse told me what the cause of the pain was. I appreciate the staff helping me out so much!

Long waits, first of all! My husband made an appointment for a test here. He got tested first and only then he was informed that the doctor is actually not present (because of surgery) and he can see a PA instead or reschedule. he should have been informed that the dr is not available before the long wait and long test!! During his time with PA, a nurse came in, interrupting the session and telling the PA that dr x is waiting for you in the other room btw... hence the PA gets frustrated, wraps up quickly, and goes away. I am very disappointed by the lack of professionalism at this office!

When my daughter was a newborn a young lady came in claiming that she needed to do a quick hearing test for my newborn (seeming like she was with the hospital). She was in and out in about 2 minutes. She NEVER mentioned that she was with a different institution as well that this test would cost us $275! How could people take advantage of new parents in this way?? It is my fault for not questioning it more.....

They did my sons hearing screening the day after he was born at Weatherford TX hospital. They failed to mention they were out of network for our insurance and we would have to pay out of pocket. I spoke with one of the office ladies to explain this issue, she got very rude with me and hung up on me. As I see this is an on going problem with this so called “business” and they will make a comment below I have the wrong business but I assure you I DO NOT.. SCAM ALERT!! Do not do business with these people!!!

Where to begin? I avoided finding a solution with having only a partial eardrum over a 12 year period. I dreaded the thought of having surgery!I had been teaching 1st grade with limited hearing. I even grew to dislike having to swim while wearing earplugs year after year....and having to be ever so careful snorkeling on Cruise Excursion countless times! I visited Dr. Slater and Andrew to see what my options were and their entire staff were extraordinary and welcomed me with smiles and suggestions. Each appointment leading up to a CT Scan and two procedures was convenient and I got in and got out ON TIME! All their staff is always friendly along with offering thorough explanations. I had a Tympanoplasty and a SinuPlasty. After 3 months of check ins, I was so impressed with the outcome. The Audiologist explained the comparison for the before and after hearing tests/chart. Im doing the Happy Dance having the results of much better hearing and can look forward to hearing my new grandsons giggles, music, pool time and snorkeling. As a Euphonium player, even playing music is easier with greater hearing. During all visits everyone seemed so knowledgeable and passionate about their work! They did my sons state mandated hearing screening the day after he was born in the hospital. They are out of network for our insurance and it cost a ridiculous amount. We were not made aware prior to our sons screening that they were out of network.We settled with them in August for a partial payment. They then turned our acct over to a collection agency despite having told us that our acct was cleared.If you can avoid doing business with them DO! They are dishonest.

Dr. Slater, Andrew and all the staff are very helpful and friendly. Especially Kaylene Ball my audiologist who helped me choose the correct fit, size of my new custom hearing aids. She is very friendly and very helpful.

Awful! This clinic bills themselves as the experts in ears. I would expect to be educated and have someone actually explain things to me. I went to see Dr. Slater for vertigo. He abruptly came in and seemed rather put off that he had to deal with me and that he just couldnt wait for me to stop talking. I then had my hearing tested by a hearing aid dealer, not even the audiologist. I later found out that the two are NOT the same. I was told I had Menieres disease and that there was nothing that could be done until my ear died and I would then have to have my nerve cut.After a second opinion from a center that ACTUALLY specializes in dizziness and hearing loss (I say a surgeon, an audiologist and then surprisingly a physical therapist) a treatment plan was devised to help me manage my symptoms. I wouldnt wish this practice on my worst enemy.

I really dont know what Id do without Dr Slater, Andrew, Emerson and the rest of the AEC team. So helpful, understanding, sympathetic and always striving to make me better. Dr Slater doesnt always agree with me on certain aspects of my Menieres disease, but he DOES always listen, which is fantastic. This is a busy practice so you may have to wait a bit longer in the waiting room, but its because they will not leave a patient until everything is done and all questions are answered. Never pushy to try to get you in and out. Thank you AEC!

Was hit with a surprise bill which I feel was shady, inccompetent, or just a complete lack of caring.Procedures Ive had done recently:1. Spinal injection - doctor checked with insurance and told me how much it would cost up front.2. Physical therapy - they checked with insurance and told me cost up front.3. MRI - they checked with insurance and told me cost up front4. Dental work - they checked with insurance and told me cost up front.The austin ear clinic did ear injections on me. I asked about the cost and they said it was just a copay (a lie apparently).They do one injection, only charge me a co-pay. a week goes by the do a 2nd injection and only charge me a co-pay. Another week goes by they do a third injection and only charge me a co-pay.Another 2 weeks go by and I decide not to get a 4th injection because its not working. Then they hit me with the bill even though theyve known my bill has been stacking up and they said nothing to me.I complain about it and the lady turns into a robot and recites something that sounds rehearsed, Its the patients responsibility to check the cost of the procedures, blah blah blah.Stay away from this place unless you want to have to watch your back. These people just dont seem to care at all at the very least and there are plenty of doctor offices out there that do.

Charlatans! BEWARE, This place tops the list of bad customer service! I just got off the phone with this place and I see why the ratings are so bad! they should be! They claim to have tested my babys hearing while he was in NICU sedated for lung problems and he did not pass according to them under no authorization of myself or his mother but by some miracle he passed the same test 5 days later? We did not witness them do either test. Now they want $300.00 since they are out of network working in a in network hospital? Called my insurance BCBS they said they will give me $85 to cover it and they should accept it. But no way they want all $300 they would not accept the $85. Well its been 8 months now good luck getting it now ! I will never do business with this outfit again!
