The staff was friendly and courteous on all my visits. Dr. Aitken is an expert surgeon!

Took a full week to have someone call me with MRI results. A full month from the day of my injury to be diagnosed. Worst facility Ive ever been to. Staff doesnt want to help, doctors dont care to do their jobs, I would suggest going literally anywhere else. Perhaps a 3rd world country.

My husbands appt was for 11, we were seen about 1215. Finally Dr Mancini comes in barely a hello, no apologies and was very rude and dismissive. I would never go back there again however my husband is too sick to search out a new place and we live in gardiner. Mancini may be a decent dr (IDK)but my time is just as important as his ( no matter what He believes) and I find it so disrespectful when a practice is running behind but doesn’t communicate that or maybe act a bit sorry even if they don’t mean it.

Went here for a few issues. Got stuck with a PA that obviously didnt care about my pain or concerns. Keeps sending me to PT only to have them send me back due to no progress. Could never find anything wrong, went to another doctor and was diagnosed properly. Would NOT recommend this place, not if you want to be pain free.

Showed up Monday morning after intense pain and no sleep all weekend. I could not bend my left knee. Minor swelling. After xrays Eric Daniels said it needs to be drained. He said I would feel a slight pinch. Holy mother of jesus it felt like somebody hit me with a sledge hammer 3 times in the knee cap. He wrapped my leg and sent me on way waiting for labs to come back. No info on what I should do next. He even said dont worry about checkingout you are all good. Today is day 4 and my leg is twice as swollen as first visit. I have called numerous times and he will not call me back. I think he is avoiding me since he hurt me worse then when I arrived. I have spoken to numerous people and they all said having your knee drained does not hurt.

I had both hips done by Dr. Johnston, a year apart.I have no complaints whatsoever. My pre-op instructions were clear and thorough. Both operations went well and I only had to spend one night in the hospital. I went home, used a walker for a bit, then a cane , but could function. I do not recall any unexpected pain Every person I dealt with was helpful and patient, throughout the entire process. I would and have highly recommended this professional, caring, and efficient team.

I dont usually write reviews, but I feel compelled to do so due to the negative experiences related by others here. The care I have received from the front desk to the medical practitioners has been warm and friendly on all of my visits for my fractured hand. Whats more, the treatment was first class from the RNs conscientious casting of my arm, the radiologists competence and swiftness, to the doctors diagnosis and bedside manner. As is typical with the Internet, it is commonly those with axes to sharpen who take the time to leave reviews...that said, if you have had no prior dealings with the orthopaedics department I hope my experiences go some way to allay your fears.

Had a total knee replacement with Dr. Wexler in June 2017. I am doing very well, happy with the outcome thus far. Up and walking that day. Only issue I have is with the office staff. They dont return calls and dont always follow through on things. But I will take that with the great surgeon and medical staff.

Although I have had satisfactory interactions with providers and staff in the past with higher ratings, todays call for a knee sprain of my sons was met with a 10 minute hold, and a call back from a staff person who was short and condescending. I dont know if its the culture there, but staff always seem to be cold in their interactions, and determined to be right.

You cannot obtain medical records from the Medical Records Office. this was the response I received from another operator after 2 weeks leaving messages with Medical Records. No one ever answers at MR, no supervisors are in the office, and no one ever returned my calls. After this, I started all over with Central Maine Orthopedics in Auburn.Update: 2 1/2 weeks, still cant get my records forwarded to another office. Still no one returns phone calls. Everyone I reach: Im sorry youre having this trouble. I will forward your concern. Just dysfunctional.

If you/loved one has a knee sports related injury PLEASE continue to read! I hate the thought that another high school athlete could have their high school career cut short unnecessarily. My daughter suffered a horrific sports injury where she collided head on with a young man twice her weight. She was carried off the field because her leg couldnt bear her weight. We rushed her to the hospital. After an excruciating THREE HOUR wait in the waiting room, she was examined for less than two minutes. They took an x-ray, told her her leg was not broken, handed her a pathetic knee brace and encouraged her to see her primary care. Her primary care referred her to this office. After an MRI, a PA reviewed it and said her PCL was gone and shed likely needed surgery. Dr. MacKechnie (supposedly a surgeon familiar with sports medicine) reviewed the MRI and agreed that the PCL was not visible but he felt that it was just hard to see it through all the swelling. Her leg was completely black and blue from her toes to mid thigh. He then proceeded to manipulate her leg to assess how much give her knee had, this showing the severity of the PCL injury. He said he trusted the manipulation assessment better than the MRI and he felt her PCL was still intact just injured. He felt shed be able to walk and run within a few weeks. When a surgeon tells you no surgery is needed, and he reassures you he makes more money performing surgery, then you feel inclined to believe he has your best interest in mind. My poor daughter hobbled around for another MONTH. She did her recommended PT and returned 2 weeks later with no relief. Another visit where he manipulated her knee(causing significant pain for days), re-reviewed the same MRI, gave us the same speech about pro athletes that make a full recovery from just PT and no surgery, the same song and dance that surgeons make more money operating than just consulting and so if in professional opinion no surgery was needed, we should trust him. My daughter through tears mentioned how much pain she was in. He prescribed mega doses of naproxen for the swelling (which he felt was the cause of her pain, and the reason the PCL was not visible). We scheduled a follow-up in a month. We continued this charade for FOUR MORE MONTHS!!! Her physical therapist finally refused to see her anymore because she wasnt progressing and her knee was STILL hyperextending! She lost her entire summer, spending it on crutches, unable to walk, wrapped in a hot brace. She landed in the ER for excruciating stomach pain and bloody stools, where she was diagnosed with an ULCER (due to the naproxen she was continually taking per Dr MacKechnies orders). I wised up and demanded a second opinion from her pcp. Another month went by before she could get into another ortho office an hour away. SIX MONTHS AFTER THE INITIAL INJURY, another orthopaedic manipulated her knee, when be did, you could see her entire femur slide off of her calf. It was gross to see. He reviewed the same MRI and conluded her PCL was gone. Another surgeon was consulted. Unfortunately he was in surgery, so another appointment was made for another day, another drive down an hour away. This surgeon agreed her PCL was missing. Surgery was scheduled for the following month. SEVEN MONTHS AFTER her initial injury she had surgery. They found she indeed had completely ruptured her PCL JUST LIKE THE MRI SUGGESTED!!!!!! Two days after surgery and even now, she no longer takes any pain med. She no longer has anymore pain! However, since it took so long to treat this injury and knee surgeries are a 6 month recovery. She will not be well enough to compete this spring. Thus she will have missed TWO seasons of her high school career. I wonder if DR MacKechnie was milking us for more money by excessive Dr visits with surgery planned for later or if he was too incompetent to accurately diagnose, and if he wasnt confident enough to perform the needed surgery. If you have a knee sports related injury get REAL care by driving an hour away.

I am writing this review today after the third time I have tried to schedule an appointment and hung up after waiting 15 minutes on the first call, and over 10 minutes in the second two calls. I called OA in Brunswick and Portland and was speaking with someone within a minute. It is an absolute hassle to go to Portland for care but if you cannot even take my phone call to schedule an appointment it really makes me uncomfortable about the care I will receive when I get there. Another patient that lives 5 minutes from you center driving an hour for care.

I have had wonderful treatment and experiences with Dr. Mancini and his medical staff, but the administrative employees at Maine Orthopedics provide terrible customer service.I just got off the phone with a medical records employee who said his name was Ed. I was requesting my x-rays and MRI to bring to a surgeon. Ed was rude and dismissive from the first word. He treated me in a demeaning way and berated me for not knowing how his process works (although I did know and clearly state exactly what I needed). I did not specify (or know) that my information would be on a disc, so he insisted there were only notes and nothing else to provide. When I insisted that I did, however need the information and that I had seen the MRI in my doctors office, he told me the information was on a disc, but it seems he would have preferred to just tell me No and not get me what I needed. Eds behavior was not acceptable and he should not be dealing with people on the phone. Ever.

The best way I can put into words how my visit went is, condescending ,and rude. I had the misfortune of having my apt. with Oscar Falconer, PA. He spoke down to me more often than not, and seemed like he could not have of cared less about why I was there. I felt like I was an annoyance to him .

My husband is having a series of shots that need to be injected at the same time once a week for 3 weeks today he was scheduled for 3:30 for his last shot he gets there at 3:20 and they dont have them scheduled for today it is now 4:55 and he still hasnt been seen now they tell you these shots a very specific and have to be down at certain times and a certain amount of time apart the shots was scheduled a month ago hes already been for the first two this is absolute b******* an hour and a half later and he still hasnt been seen even though he was scheduled absolutely b******* the way to this office they are so money hungry for any insurance any payments that they triple and quadruple book absolutely ridiculous when he got there they told him his appointment was next week that absolutely cant be it have to be 7 days apart around the same time and that is what is crucial to the shots so his appointment was at 3:30 and it is 4:55 now and he still hasnt been seen if MaineGeneral wasnt the only hospital around all the Orthopedics we would definitely go somewhere else and recommend somebody else absolutely irate right now
