The staff and Doctors are phenomenal. They never hesitate to go above and beyond to help and assist. I do not feel as if Im just a patient number - they actually know me and know my history. Ive gotten personal calls and reminders because the staff thought about something after I left the office. Dr. John Perry has been my doctor for over 15 years and as long as he remains in practice, I will remain a patient!

HIGHLY UNETHICAL, VERY LITTLE KNOWLEDGE, EXTREMELY FRAGILE EGO!!!!! . Dr. Anderson refused to allow my friend to have a medical advocate present during his visits. He is a refugee, not medically literate and English is his second language. She started pushing the anxiety narrative the very first visit and told us that she doesnt always find anything wrong. I assured her it was not anxiety, that he was truly ill and had been nearly two years. I was firm in my assertion, but perfectly polite.Following the appointment, the nurse approached me and told me I would no longer be allowed to attend his visits. She claimed it was due to COVID. I joined his visit on speaker phone for visit 2. Even though his WBC was low, Ms. Anderson said she didnt think he had an infection. I made a few testing recommendations because she didnt seem to have a single idea but to indicate she did not think he was actually sick. My suggestions led to a diagnosis of 2 infections for which she prescribed antibiotics.Visit 3, I was on speaker phone with my friend again and the nurse told him he had to hang up or Ms. Anderson would not see him. He did as he was told. Later, they disconnected the portal, which was going to my email address at my friends request. He filled out the necessary forms for me to have access to his medical information. She sent him away twice, telling him to come back for an annual visit when he was STILL SICK!!!!! Despite having a translator present provided by Piedmont, my friend left repeatedly not understanding what was said during his visit. I told Ms. Anderson that and my friend asked her to please talk to me about his medical issues, but she REFUSED, providing me as little information as possible. He is in his 30s and exhausted all the time, among multiple other issues including neurological problems. About 2 weeks ago, the practice manager, Claudia, called to tell me that Dr. Anderson would no longer see my friend because I was making too many testing suggestions and Im not a doctor. She told me that Im not my friends mother, that he should be able to understand everything because he has an interpreter and that maybe he needed to take notes. It is clear to me that this practice has a systemic problem in which it has been deemed acceptable to VIOLATE PATIENTS RIGHTS. This is not acceptable and I am filing formal complaints.

Lab work is completed promptly, followed up immediately by analysis/recommendations from my primary care physician. Both the PA’s and my doctor have good active listening skills. I always feel heard & appropriately informed. And I never feel rushed during office visits. L
Review №69

Having access to equitable and compassionate healthcare is a right for all Americans. For centuries, Black Americans have long been spoken to like animals, seen as invisible, and viewed as being less than human. It is inappropriate for a white physician to condescendingly refer to a Black male patient by the name of a world renowned Black female professional tennis player. After being told (in real time) the racial-gender inappropriate statement was offensive and inappropriate, Dr. John L. Elliott took no steps to apologize and/or self-correct. Launching the use of such statements would be inappropriate when used toward employees in any work setting and would contribute/foster the creation of a hostile, disrespectful, bias, and unsafe work environment. Similarly, use of such statements creates an unhealthy-hostile-bias environment when used among any patient who would expect to receive compassionate care without having to work hard to demand it. In addition, Dr. Elliott sought to re-prescribe a medication that was documented in my medical record, under a different physician (at the same medical practice five years ago), to cause debilitating muscle pain. When bringing this to Dr. Elliotts attention, he responded it was a fallacy on my behalf--meaning I held a mistaken belief or unsound reasoning. Any patient would be in the best position to know/share whether a medication causes pain to the physician. Dr. Elliott was not familiar with my medication history and became irritated with me bringing this to his attention. Formal attempts to bring concerns to the attention of the medical practice went largely ignored and unaddressed. Thereafter, with the assistance of a civil rights attorney, shareholders (physicians) in the medical practice agreed to thoroughly review its anti-discrimination policies and procedures to make sure they are complete. The medical practice also agreed to enforce the Group’s stance that discriminatory behavior will not be tolerated and that the group will seek to reinforce its anti-discriminatory training at all levels, including physicians, clinical and non-clinical staff to assist in better serving their patient population. Achieving optimal patient care involves focusing on and listening to patients when they report objectively how they feel. Ignoring patients’ feedback that a class of medications causes pain physically and how the use of inappropriate racial-gender name calling causes psychological harm should be avoided all together. To do otherwise conveys that certain patients are less than human and that they dont/wouldnt/cant have a medical home at this practice. It is my hope that Dr. John L. Elliott and the entire medical practice will commit to their written (formal) response to work hard to ensure this does not happen to any current and/or future patient regardless of their race, gender, socio-economic status, religion, sexual orientation, and medication history.

Any time I have questions she is quick to email in the patient portal or suggest I make an office appointment if she cant answer my question via email. I have also really enjoyed the nursing staff at this office and have found them to be personable and helpful. In the lab the flatobomists have also been really kind and professional. I also appreciate the expediency with which I have historically been able to make office appointments, often being able to see the doctor within a day or two at the very most. My wife & I are new to the area. One of the hardest things to do when you relocate is to find trustworthy doctors and dentists. Like all people, we wanted a professional and competent organization. I found this place based on reviews from various sites. They scheduled me with Hope Johnson PA-C. Hope is professional, competent, and normal 🙂. After my appointment, my wife then went to Hope as well. I think she was waiting for me to be the guinea pig (and why are we torturing guinea pigs)? Anyway, I only write reviews for places/people I trust. Now, I have to find a dentist....

It really isnt often that I write a review. I changed to Internal Medicine of Atlanta about two years ago for a location closer to work. Dr. John Elliott was the only physician taking new patients at the time and was new to the practice, coming in as a chief resident from Emory. I was reluctant at first. I have heard that one should choose a physician closer to your age that may have the same health issues you do. However, the practice was close, they accepted my insurance, so I agreed to the appointment. From the initial experience I cannot be happier. The front desk is efficient and pleasant. The MA permits me the one vice I have which is I weigh myself daily and I get to tell her my weight from that morning vs. her taking my weight. Dr. Elliott is attentive, thorough and takes all the time we need to discuss my medical conditions. He and I discuss the current literature on medical treatments and together make effective changes in my treatment. I will tell two stories about Dr. Elliott. The first, Dr. Elliott informed me that as a 65 yo white male, my cardiac episode risk rate was 8% in 10 years. However we are going to reduce that to 4% by adding a statin to my daily drug regimen. Then we will reduce it to 2% by a daily 81 mg aspirin. I like the odds. The second, Dr. Elliott recommended I see a dermatologist as I had never seen one. Dr. Elliott had performed a complete physical but felt it best to have a specialist involved. I saw Dr. Edmonds in the same building, and she punched two places on my skin she wasnt sure of. Both came back cancerous. I had Moze procedures on both and had full recovery. When I saw Dr. Elliott again and asked about new procedures, I explained about the Moze and the cancer. He was genuinely upset with himself that he had not discovered the cancerous growths. He felt that he should have seen them.I tell these two stories only to say, I have received the best, thoughtful and literature based medical treatment that I could have ever received anywhere. Dr. Elliott is a trusted medical advisor and caregiver who really cares about the entire person. I am fortunate to have stumbled upon him and this great practice. Thank you Dr. Elliott!

Dr. David Spivey is an excellent physician; but sadly the practice is now managed by cut-throat MBAs from Piedmont Hospital, where profit is more important than patient care. Ive been a patient of Dr. Spiveys for 10+ years and have never had a problem. Recently the receptionist refused to let me see my doctor unless I paid the full price of an office visit in cash first. This is because I had changed insurance carriers - despite the fact that my carrier is accepted by this practice. After she announced it in front of a waiting room of patients I decided to leave.
