Ive received preventative chiropractic care for most of the 25-years of my adult life. Dr. Nygaard is both highly intuitive and knowledgeable. His combination of science and sensing what is out of alignment is spot on effective. Hell choose a modality that will be most effective taking into consideration your sensitivity and desires. I still laugh when he treats me with the atlas orthogonal because the touch is so light that you can barely even feel it and yet the results are profound. I feel heat and tingling radiant up into my head and feel the pressure in my sinuses immediately release. I had a severe neck and head injury some years ago and chiropractics has supported my returning pretty close to full health. The injury affected my vision, cranial pressure, thinking, range of motion, strength and feeling in my arms and hands. My vision has returned better than it was before the accident, Im thinking clearly again, my sinuses are open and I can breathe freely and all of the feeling has returned in my arms and hands- just a small residual pins and needles in my right thumb. Dr. Nygaard and the staff are friendly and welcoming, but we did not find his methods to be effective. We sought out an Atlas Orthogonal chiropractor intentionally because that is the technique we are most comfortable with and have had the most success with when we lived in a different town; however, we did not find the same effectiveness or relief out of his methods and it was just inferior to the treatment we had received in the past. For the cost and the lack of benefit, we will not be returning.

I started going to Dr. Nygaard at Atlas Chiropractic of Asheville about 3 months ago. I was having shoulder and neck pain. My wife had been going to him for migraines and he had helped her. I am writing this review in response to M McKees review. I am shocked and astounded at what was written.I have worked with Dr. Nygaard since 2013. He has had the same front desk staff since February of 2014. I have done his insurance billing and can assure you that nothing was billed for that wasnt a provided service to the patient. As far as ordering exams is concerned, that is standard practice, especially for those patients who have insurance. The exam documents the need for the services rendered.Dr. Nygaard has also been incredibly understanding that circumstances come up and that I needed to be off. While working with Dr. Nygaard, I was pregnant with my daughter, a very high-risk pregnancy that landed me in the hospital more than once, unexpectedly. Never once did he complain about my absence. As a matter of fact, the only time he contacted me was to check on me and ensure that all was well with me and my baby.As a former employee of Dr. Nygaard, I would urge people to take M McKees review with a grain of salt. Dr. Nygaard has always been kind and compassionate towards me. He is supportive and encouraging of his staff. I am truly sorry that M McKee feels the way he does, but his comments are not reflective of my experience with Dr. Nygaard.

Atlas Family Chiropractic is the only thing that has given me any relief. I have been in miserable neck and head pain since 2011. I have tried everything from medication, massage and acupuncture, to a cervical epidural and Botox injections. Not one of these treatments helped my pain. I came to Dr. Nygaard after having excrutiating pain in my lower back and legs for 3 months. I was unable to turn myself over in bed, tie my shoes, bend....I could hardly move! Ive always been skeptical of chiropractic medicine, mainly because I didnt understand it.
