Within Luthern Homes is an Adult Day Care called Cherished Place. My wife who suffers with dementia went there for several months. We found the staff to be caring, sensitive and supportive of all their residents. If you have need to place your loved one in a safe and well run Adult Day facility, Cherished Place is highly recommended

If you have a need for a facility for someone you love be assured that this is the BEST!

The Lunch and Learn programs are tremendously informative about a variety of topics. Some topics deal with health issues, some are informative about history or historical facts, and some are just really entertaining. I never go away without learning something new to willingly share with family and friends. Todays presentation on the history of Chicago candy was sweet. The environment lends itself to meeting new people from the area or residents of Lutheran Home who are happy to share how much they enjoy living there.Linda Smith does an excellent job of bringing these programs to the community and never fails to end a program with a little trivia fun. Prior to every lunch, which is always delicious, grace is said by the pastor. A delightful way to spend a morning, learning something new and breaking bread with new friends.

Moved our mom into the Lutheran Home 2 weeks ago on the memory rehab floor. The rooms are clean and well taken care of. Nurses and CNAs are very attentive to the patients. The activity director engages everyone and is very entertaining. One suggestion I would have is that to exit the floor, you have to search for someone to let you out. I understand the security, but perhaps guests can be given a temporary code when visiting. Its frustrating sometimes to walk up and down looking for someone to let us out. Also, sometimes staffing is limited, so when we page for assistance in the room for bathroom purposes, it sometimes takes up to 10 minutes for someone to help. I wish there were more staff on hand, especially on the weekends when it seems to be not a full staff. On the whole, we are very happy with the premises and facilities.

I spent several days and was impressed with how friendly the entire staff was and so patient with residents that had any issues. The food was warm and nourishing with the options for many substitutes.Because I was doing so well I received a little longer therapy on the day before I was leaving and no afternoon. SO I had nothing to do the rest of the day. The therapist were very good and helpful. The release went well the next day in a timely fashion. Also if I asked for something, like a refill on soap it came quickly. I definitely would recommend this rehab center.

The time that my mother spent at the Lutheran Home Memory Care unit was an unexpected blessing for her and our family. The thoughtful care that she received from everyone on the Staff gave her a sense of safety that I had not anticipated, and that made it possible for us to spend our family time together socializing. She was treated with dignity, her room was homey, and all of her personal care needs were met from bathing assistance to hair styling. Lutheran Homes environment was supportive for the whole family, and any of our questions or concerns were met with prompt responses. And she clearly liked the new friends she made at meals, social events and games like bingo. I would not hesitate to recommend the Lutheran Home to anyone looking for a warm, safe environment for a loved one with memory care needs.

It is a win/win situation—these young adults gain valuable skills while assisting at the Lutheran Home in so many ways, and the Lutheran Home benefits from their services. I am honored to be a part of this wonderful program and very pleased that the Lutheran Home allows us to be a part of their operations on a daily basis. My husband was a patient during the summer of 2016, for almost a month. I was very impressed with the lovely facility and the quality of the staff. Their record-keeping was excellent--they were always on top of his rehab, PT, etc. The junior members of the staff were very nice and he related to them. The more senior nurses, etc., were very compassionate and helpful, always willing to answer my questions. The PT staff were very helpful and did a good job. As he was getting ready to be discharged, the managers were helpful. My husband did not love the food, but I think that was a function about the menu items, many of which he never eats, rather than the quality of the food.

Recently after a fall, my mother in law entered rehab at The Lutheran Home. After receiving excellent nursing care, she progressed into her own assisted living apartment in Hearthstone. She’s been living by herself for many years, resisting independent living facilities. Now at 92, with dementia rapidly progressing, she’s agreed she needs more help. Her apartment is bright and sunny. We’ve furnished it with her own belongings to make it homey for her. She has no worries about cooking her own meals. Activities occur frequently during the day. She goes to chapel every Sunday without having to worry about braving the elements. The staff is friendly and always helpful. We feel she’s receiving excellent care. While the place was clean, that is the only good thing i have to say. The Social Worker there was totally unresponsive to our needs and seemed to put money over concern for the patient. My sister broke her hip in October and because of other health issues theywere not able to repair it. She was placed in my rehab at Luther Home under Medicare. We were told she would receive therapy and under medicare, she had 100 day paid for. A month before the 100 days were up, we were told that medicare would no longer pay and we had 2 days to get out or start paying $300.00 a day. It took us a week and a half to fine a place to move her to. so we had to pay $2100.00. i informed the Social worker that we would need a hospital bed and she told me she would order it and have it delivered before my sister was discharged. Guess what, 4 days later and still no bed. My sister is sleeping on a hide a bed with a broken hip in great pain. My biggest complaint is the non responsiveness by Lutheran Home and the social worker. I have left urgent messages with no response at all. i guess they just dont care. They have never returned my calls unless i go there and try to track them down. Stay away from this place.

I finished my 4th stay at the Rehab facility in December, 2019. In the past, everything was great. This time however there appeared to be a decrease in services and performance. First, the PT and OT therapy staff were wonderful. They got me back on my feet and walking again. It was obvious that the CNA staff had been reduced in the rooming section of the facility. There were may occasions where it seem to take a long time for someone to respond to a room call. They did not want me to get out of the bathroom without help. So I pushed the button but it took at 10 minutes for someone to show up. Another instance I observed was that people were in the dining room waiting to go back to their rooms but the CNAs were nowhere to be found. Unacceptable. Many of the CNAs were wonderful. Some seemed to not care. There appeared to be little supervision of that group so they did what they wanted. Their cell phones sometimes seemed more important. Also, the use of Agency staff needs to be evaluated. The nurses were great and very attentive to our needs. No complaints.Summarily, this facility has always been ranked at the top for care. If you want to stay at the top of the list, you need to act like you want to be the best. I urge you to examine your staffing and goals.

Two of my dear friends are at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights now, one in My ReHab for rehabiliation for a fractured ankle and the second for senior care and ongoing living. I have visited both women often during the last few weeks and the quality of care they are receiving is exceptional from multiple shifts of care providers. The varied needs of both women have been respectively served by an exceptionally warm, friendly and qualified staff - nurses, physical and occupational therapists, etc. Also, the private rooms are spacious, kept very clean and organized for each patient and their guests.

My Mom has been at the Lutheran Home for almost 6 years. Her care has been fabulous and the staff is attentive to her needs. From Administrative staff to the cleaning crew, the staff knows her by name and engages with her often. Thank you for caring for her.

I am the Organist for worship services at the Chapel of St. John the Beloved. I’ve worked there for 7 months now and it’s wonderful to be so welcomed and appreciated by not only the professional staff who is employed there, but also by the residents, their family and friends, and the volunteers at the Lutheran Home. My experience to date has been very rewarding!

My Grandmother was just moved to this community and absolutely loves it. The food is incredible and the staff are attentive, professional, and most of all friendly. Moving from one retirement community to another can be really difficult, and we are so happy that she is being taken care of so well in this transition.

Lutheran Home and its staff delivers the high standards expected of a facility for the aged. We have been going there every Tuesday for quite a few years now to deliver Holy Communion to the Catholic residents and its comforting to know that the residents are very well taken cared of.

Lutheran Home should be called a haven for all of the residents. We have the aid and help we need from the staff. The service and food would be difficult to match. Most impressive is the gardening, flowers, walkways which are carefully planned and enjoyed by everyone. Beautiful display of landscape all around!Virginia -- Resident

My grandma was just there for a hip replacement. She was there from Friday-Tuesday. Every time we had questions for the nurses, no one knew what was going on with her. No one had any answers to any questions we had. She told them the medication she can/cant take and they didnt listen to her. She told them the food she can/cant take and no one listened to her. She had an on and off fever for 24 hours and the only reason something was done to bring it down was because we demanded her to be brought to the ER. If we were not there, nothing would have been taken care of. If you call for a nurse, it will take 10+ minutes for someone to show up. There was a lady in the other room screaming for 10 minutes to get a nurse in there to help her. No one communicates here and I would never feel safe having any family members stay here.
