After a vomiting episode late last night, I felt that Nova needed to be seen urgently. Calling around locally resulted in hospitals at full capacity but a recommendation to try South Metro Animal Emergency Care.We were seen by Dr. Bryan Birch and his team and were so thankful. They were kind and gentle to Nova and explained every option we had with her so we could make a well informed choice.I personally felt that the price of our visit and the care we received was fair - my only gripe is that Novas gotten a little chubby during the pandemic so she needed more meds than other dogs may have. :)I would most definitely recommend this place for emergency care and would use them again if need be.Thank you so much for helping us, South Metro Animal Emergency Care!

Do call ahead to make sure they are open to new patients! they can also give you an estimated wait time. everything was thoroughly explained with options for evaluation and treatment. They were honest and upfront about potential costs, and ensured we knew to call back afterward if we had any questions or our dog had any changes. staff was so patient, understanding, and caring. It was clean and fairly priced. Thank you South Metro team for helping our Spyro!

After an online vet consult I was urged to bring my 2 year old Aussie in to be seen after he was vomiting and wouldn’t eat for 2 days. Of course, seeing an emergency vet is never a cheap experience but the staff was incredibly understanding and helped direct me in applying for a care card. Dr. Wasmoen was so kind and went through many different options for what could be happening and how we can go about treating his issue. After some treatment my baby is back to normal and eating again. There aren’t any emergency vets in my area so we had to drive 45 minutes but I wouldn’t trust my puppies with anyone else for emergency situations. Great staff with a lot of care for their jobs!

I brought my dog Titan here two weekends ago and unfortunately I didnt get to bring him home with me. 😔 The vet and team were compassionate, they treated him and I very well, they gave me time to say goodbye to him before and after, and didnt rush me out of the door. A week after they sent me a condolences card in the mail with stamped foot prints so that I could have those as a memory. ❤ Although it wasnt the outcome I had wanted, I know Titan was in good hands throughout our time there and I appreciate everything that they did for both of us. I would highly recommend their services.

My senior cat was presenting with a poor appetite and our regular vet (also a great place) couldn’t get her in for a few days. I contacted SMAEC when I came home from work one evening and saw she had stopped eating altogether. The receptionists, techs, and the doctor I had the pleasure of working with were all incredibly kind and had a calm way about them. They ran diagnostics, started supportive care, and got her feeling well enough to start eating again. I continued care at our regular clinic the next day, and I’m happy to say she’s doing great. Whatever the outcome may have been, I’m grateful for all their help. (Also thankful for their tremendous care despite my cats spiciness during her stay.) Would recommend!

I came in in a Saturday afternoon with a dog who might have been exposed to blue green algae’s the staff said they had a full lobby but took the situation very seriously since dogs can die anywhere from 15-12 hours after exposure. They had me cal poison control and was able to get me in immediately to induce vomiting. They were able to see that he threw up algae and put him on fluids and gave him activated charcoal and check his liver and kidney levels and 3 days later he’s in the clear! Everyone is so nice and compassionate. I did have to wait quite an hour/two hours to get his blood work rechecked but there were some more critical cases, just like ours the day before, that needed immediate attention but they do the best they can.

I dont know what I would do without South Metro. They helped me with my past dog and recently helped me with my other elderly dog. The staff is so kind and caring. They are very busy as they are the only emergency vet in the area, so wait times can be a bit long, but if you have a very serious emergency, they will get you in right away. They are so understanding and knowledgeable. They do all they can to help the pets that are brought in. They are honest and dont try to sell you things that are not needed like other emergency vets I have been to. I cant recommend them enough.

My puppy hadnt been doing good for a couple days over the weekend finally got worried enough to go to the vet, none of the vets were open in my town so I called south metro animal emergency a head of time to see my puppy, drove an hour to apple valley get there and get told they werent able to see him after waiting 3 hours. So I left fast forward Monday morning I get into a vet close to my town only to find out there was something seriously wrong with my puppy that required blood work and he had an extremely high tempature! Never will I go back to South metro animal emergency and nor will I ever recommend them to anyone. I wouldnt even give them 1 star but thats the lowest you can rate them

So the people working in the lobby were great.Once we sat in the office with a veterinarian she made an assumption and said we should get pet insurance. It was her first time meeting my partner and I and never asked if we had and why we didn’t have pet insurance.I don’t know if she said this due to my ethnicity and assumed we couldn’t pay but it came across as discriminate. Which I hope that wasn’t her intentions. This incident left a dry taste in my mouth about this place of business.After5 hours of waiting the X-rays we’re taken on my pup and nothing was found, and with in a day he had carpet in his stool that finally pushed out.I think the anti-nausea medicine they provided helped our pup and he’s back healthy and safe.

I hope you understand that asking someone with a pet to sit in their cart for 2+ hours just isn’t it. Especially with these high temperatures. Also, I called to get an update and “you’re next in line” was a whole hour ago. Please feel free to reach out to me and explain why whoever makes decision at this establishment thinks it’s ok to ask people to sit in their car with their pet for hours.

My entire experience was horrible. From the very first call the receptionist tellingme about a 3-hour wait. There needs to be a better process for how waits are handled. From there the Vet did not have good bed side mater at all. He did not really take the time to listen, he was very aloof. After the x-rays showed my 7 month puppy had a more Serious break in the upper arm and would need a very costly Surgery or have his arm amputated was a lot to process. The doctor had said he would talk to me when I got there but he did not come out until I requested to speak with him. He appeared sleppy and tired. Instead I spoke with a very rude Tech that told me that if I did not want a three-legged puppy that she would take him! How RUDE when Im trying to process everything!!! I dont even know her why would I ever give my puppy to her! The entire experience was horrible!!! I will NEVER go back there no matter how bad the emergency.

We had the very sad realization after several agonizing days that our senior cat was going downhill fast, and we didnt want to wait until she was suffering more, so we had to put her to sleep. Since it was the 4th of July our regular vet was closed, and we had gone to South Metro years ago the last time we went through this, so that is where we went. My husband was made to feel like a criminal, with several different staff asking all kinds of questions about our kittys health, diagnosis, etc. Really? They made a tough time even worse. We tortured ourselves over the decision, and to have staff there, who didnt even know our cat, question us, and make my husband feel like he was doing something wrong?? Maybe you need to do a little better job helping people through a bad time instead of grilling them and making them feel worse. We love our kitty so much, and did what we thought was best for her - one of the hardest choices we could make.Hopefully we have MANY years before we would go through this again, and when we do we will NOT go to you.

We haven’t seen the bill yet, but they literally saved our German Shepherds life tonight. He had inhaled a large Kong ball. Thankfully the ball had a hole in it or else it would have completely blocked his airway and he would have died. They were able to sedate him and remove it. They said it was really stuck. I called, drove the 45 minutes there, they were telling me to wait until I told them he was having trouble breathing. They took him in immediately and got to work. Still accessing his lungs, but he will be okay. So thankful.

The staff was very nice, however not very understanding. My sons young cat got sick out of no where and went from a spunky, happy girl to very lethargic and sad girl. We rushed her 40 or so miles to the Apple Valley Vet Clinic and they took her immediately. I was very hopeful. A short while later they called to inform me that I needed to call the Poison Control for Pets hotline because we were not sure if she got accidentally poisoned. She told me it would cost me $60 to get a case number before they could treat her. So I call, and 8 minutes later someone answers. I told her the situation and she was looking up the active ingredient in what we thought she got into as my husband was googling it and had the answer before she did. Then she said I had to pay the money. For less that 2 minutes of help. Amid a pandemic mind you. What choice do I have? You have a member of my family. She could have said $500 and I would have had to pay it. They wont help her. So I call the vet clinic back and tell them the case number. A half hour later the main doctor calls and tells me that she looks fine, no temp and she is playful. UM WHAT, less than an hour ago I handed you a barely alive cat and now miraculously she is fine??? BUT I need to pay roughly $700 to do blood work and/or x rays to rule stuff out. So if she is fine and playful why would that be necessary? I explained I do not have that money now. So we opted for out patient care which includes an anti nausea shot and fluids. When I asked if they have given fluids yet they said no they cant until I pay. SERIOUSLY? I brought a cat that has been vomiting all day and the first thing you should have done is give her fluids! So now the total is about $225. I tell her I need to move some money around and will call her right back while they treat her. Sorry Maam we cant do that until you pay. WHAT?! After a back and forth I gave up and did what I had to do and called back 2 minutes later. They eventually brought her out and she looked the exact same as she did when she got there 2 hours ago. I asked why they said she was fine and playful but now is lethargic again. It does not take a rocket scientist to see the cat was sick. We brought her home to a worried boy with no real hope of what would happen. We laid with her for hours and syringe fed her water and food for over 24 hours. She barely moved and when she did, she hid. I am happy to say she has made a full recovery and is back to her saucy self. The only thing the clinic did was take my money and waste time.

Then Saturday afternoon he seemed to decline more.We called, were advised to fill out the online paperwork, and come when we could. The staff was very pleasant. They explained things at every step. The vet called after his exam and doing a quick ultrasound to give us a report. They then developed a plan for his care and discharge.I’ve had experiences with other emergency vet clinics over the years with my dogs. South Metro has definitely been the best ever. Two stars for the lovely staff alone. We were the only clients (as shared by the staff) but the veterinarian had zero bedside manner and was abrupt and short with us. It was jarring and made a scary situation that much worse. I also was not impressed with the pricing- over 1k for sedation, bloodwork, and X-rays. It was determined that our cat needed surgery but the vet seemed reluctant to do because it was a little after 3 am and he didn’t want to begin operating after 4 am because the clinic closes at 8 am. I understand this, but was incredibly alarmed at his willingness to cut corners with fluids, saying that they prefer to give iv fluids for an hour prior to operating, but in this case he would be willing to do fluids for less time. At that point we decided to take our cat to the U of M so we could find a surgeon who was less rushed by clinic closing time. The X-ray files that south metro took were also completely unreadable and had to be redone at the U. After all was said and done, I wish we had gone straight to the U of M to begin with. We had an excellent surgeon who took time to explain the procedure, do everything correctly and safely, and the price was thousands less than what was quoted by south metro.

I wanted to express my gratitude to South Metro and the vet that called me (sorry that I forgot your name). I had brought my Persian, Izzy in because she was not doing well and they recommended me to another vet that could provide what she needed. They charged me a “referral visit” which I found quite affordable and I’m incredibly grateful for that! I had been spending so much to care for her and this eased the financial burden. I’m very appreciative and wanted to let you know that Izzy has gone on to recover (at least so far) after a little over a week from when she got sick.

Would be zero stars if the system would allow. Needed to get my cat in for an eye infection of two days. They told me to come to the facility, come into the vestibule, fill out their forms, leave the forms, and wait in the car in parking lot for them to call. After almost two hours, I called them. They said they were busy, and theyd get to me when they could. I asked how long they estimated and the receptionist said I was next meaning (her words) only another 45 minutes or so. I was willing to pay their outlandish prices to get timely care for my pet. But, after waiting forever, I left. They never did call me. As far as they are concerned I am still waiting in the parking lot I suppose. Finally got the cat into another vet. Sadly, they do not think the eye can be saved as the infection had progressed too far during the delay. According to new vet, If SMAEC had actually seen her, it would likely been a matter of antibiotics and maybe some eye drops. Now, Im facing upwards of $2,000 for surgery to remove the eye and the infected tissue, and the cat may still die of sepsis. Their poor service, unreasonable wait times, and lack of any communication at all resulted in greater harm to my pet. I will never forgive them for their callous and indifferent attitude. Do not go there. If you can wait for a few hours, do it, and go to a regular and humane clinic that may actually care, during normal daytime hours. Take the day off work if you have to. Do anything to avoid this place. Bonus is any regular vet will save you at least half or more on the cost of services.

If you read nothing further in this review, please take away from it South Metro Animal Emergency Care made the last days I had with my dog unforgettable in the best way possible! My 14 year old dog who had been declining in health was acting very differently one day, enough so to bring him into an emergency vet at night. I was met by Justin at the door for a quick assessment, as I couldn’t go into the clinic because of covid regulations. Justin was very compassionate and understanding of my dog’s situation, and I felt at ease as I watched them go back into the clinic. I went to sit in my car and wait for the update from inside. My phone rang and It was Dr. Birch on the other end, he said I needed to come inside to talk which I knew meant the worst. Dr. Birch explained to me what was going on inside the abdomen of my dog, how it was affecting his body, and that it was a terminal situation. He still laid out a gradient of options from taking him to a specialist at the U of M to putting him to sleep that night. I was very grateful for his honesty in offering up all the solutions he did. But we both agreed for a 14 year old dog in his situation putting him to sleep was the best possible outcome. I couldn’t do it that night without the family saying good bye. The next day I called my normal vet to see if I could take him there for his final appointment, as he’d been going there for the last 7 years and I wanted them to be a part of it. They couldn’t, or wouldn’t, make time for me and my dog for at least 3 days. This was very disappointing to me. That day I came home from work and my dog had declined further, and I made the decision to bring him in overnight to have him put to sleep. At 10 PM, I was met by Justin again at the door as I carried my dog in. His genuine compassion to my dog again was apparent, but it was also extended towards me as he told me what the process would be. He then took my dog to the back to put a port in his leg for the shots. This was something different from when I’ve done this before. For me it meant my dog would only be stuck by 1 needle, not the 3 or 4 they actually use. When they came back, Justin put down the plushest fleece blanket on the table I’d ever seen. They then gave me all the alone time I wanted before Dr. Birch came in. Once again Dr. Birch was a true professional explaining to me what was about to happen, and how my dog would react. And he gently petted my dog the whole time to help ease him as I said good bye and he slipped into his sleep. Dr Birch left and they then gave me all the time I wanted alone to say good bye myself. One last time Justin came in offering his condolences and wrapped my dog in that huge soft blanket and took him away. I was offered time to sit in the room as long as I wanted, but all I had to do was simply walk out of the clinic alone.S M A E C thank you for your services, hours, and location. People don’t bring their pets to you for the fun regular stuff, it’s got to be a whole different world at your clinic from dusk to dawn. I appreciate that to the fullest.Justin and Dr. Birch, Thank You doesn’t even start to cover the appreciation I have for you two! The whole experience I had was only 24 hours long. But the good memories I have of one of my worst times will forever be in my mind.Thank You,Rob and Braden

She did a thorough exam and was very helpful with answering all of our questions. We left with our dog (unfortunately, not 100% better, but that is NOT the fault of the staff at the clinic - it was due to some medication we were given by another Vet that caused issues), great instructions and some hope for a better return for our dog. Ended up taking my brothers dog here. Less expensive than the last time i needed an ER vet. They did a great job w/ the sick dog. They were not phased when she left her sample on the waiting room floor. They have cocoa and coffee in case you wait. We saw behind the scenes through the door and it is a serious health care facility back there!Unfortunately, while we were there a young lady was releasing her beloved furry friend to the rainbow bridge. The most respectful thing was a sign on the desk with a now lit electric candle. It was to signify the somber nature of the sad event. Very thoughtful! Especially meaningful to me because my last ER vet visit involved the same loss.

Cant say enough nice things about the staff at South Metro. From check-in to check-out, my dog and I were treated with warm hospitality. The calm and thorough nature of both tech and doctor were much appreciated in my state of overwhelm. Questions were answered, meds were explained and charges were fair. I hope to never have a pup-emergency again, but if I do, I would not hesitate to make the drive to South Metro again.

Although the service while I was on site was great, the aftermath experience was not. We unexpectedly had to put our dog down. When we were on-site we asked if we would get paw prints. They assured us that they would do so and it was standard practice. After not receiving them for almost a week we put in a call. They said they did not have record of the prints and they did not have them on-site. They put in a message to the practice manager. After 5 days I still did not hear back. Finally, after a whole week I heard back. They didnt do the prints. There is nothing that can be done in this situation, you cant bring my dog back to get the prints. As stated, the service while our dog was being worked on was great, but, the heartbreak that resulted due to their lack of promised services exceeds any other feelings at this point. So, be sure you keep on them in regards to these types of things. I dont know that I will go back to this facility, I will do my best to go elsewhere.

We were on our way out of town, driving home to Atlanta from Minneapolis when we realized one of our dogs was really sick. She was having trouble breathing and would not lie down. We turned around and drove back to Apple Valley after I found this clinic online. Thank goodness we wound up here. The care she received was professional and thorough. The veterinarian who worked with her even called my own vet in Atlanta since she could explain my dogs condition to him better than I could. Between the three of us we decided I should let her go. Her cancer had spread to her lungs, and air was leaking into her body cavity. Had I tried to drive her home to Atlanta she probably would have died a horrible death in the car on the way. They were very caring and compassionate with both me and my dog. Im glad I know about this clinic. We visit Minneapolis often and if I am ever in need of vet care while we are there I will return here.

Had a fantastic experience. My dog had an eye issue. We filled out some paperwork, was shown into a room and had a couple of Vet Assistants come into the room a few minutes after we arrived. They were very courteous and very respectful, answering all of our questions. The vet came in after about 10 minutes, we werent the only ones being seen, so we knew it would going to be a little bit of a wait. I liked how they took command of the room and care of our dog. Explained what they were doing each step of the way, told us what they thought the problem was, and what could be done to fix him. They explained what each of the fees were. For an emergency clinic, you are going to pay a bit more, which we were fully prepared for. The prices were not outrageous.I will not have a problem going back.

So I dont know if hes f**king dying or what and I get to listen to him whine in the meantime. SO FUNEdit: I dont like how I was treated prior to the vet checking in. Weve brought our dog Macy in twice in a month now and both times received amazing care. The first time she got into and consumed 2 and a half pounds of chocolate while we were out of the house. We brought her in and they pushed her to the front of the list and immediately induced vomit on her. She stayed overnight and when we picked her up in the morning she was lethargic as expected from the IVs. The vet gave us very detailed meal instructions and within the day she was as good as new. Again tonight we brought Macy in due to shortness of breath that had us worried. After meeting her once already, Brandy remembered Macy and greeted her with such a warm welcome. While waiting to meet with the vet an emergency with another pet had come up and we had to wait awhile longer, which we understood completely. Despite the circumstance Brandy came in the room a few times to apologize and ensure us that the vet would be in shortly. The vet was extremely gentle and friendly with Macy and talked through different options and prices. We ended up getting a few X-rays on her chest and the vet talked everything through with us and even gave us a CD of Macys X-rays! After our first experience with SMAH we had no problem bringing her in again. Thank you for providing the best care for our mutt!!

I couldnt have had a better experience here and am so thankful they took such good care of my dog Ella. I am certain that they saved my dogs life. When we brought in our pup, she was disoriented, her eyes were glossy, and she lost her balance and was extremely unwell. My husband and myself were panicked about her condition. They took immediate care of her and determined that she had a temperature of 107, got her on some IVs and stabilized her very quickly, and worked on cooling her down. They determined that she had an infection and would need to determine what was causing it. After doing a few tests they quickly determined she had pneumonia and some bronchitis, mixed with the warm weather it caused her to overheat quickly. Our previous vet that we had taken her to for the past two months possibly missed pneumonia, even after we did an x-ray for her coughing. I wish we had just brought her here first. If it wasnt Dr. Wenums expertise and his caring nurse...who knows what would have happened to her. I could not thank them enough. They were also both super patient and took extra time to answer my questions so that I would know how to continue treatment for her. Thanks again!

My ending was tragic for my young cat with any unexpected heart problem; however this clinic did everything possible to provide quality care to my cat and myself. They were caring and respectful, minimized my pets suffering, honest and reasonable in price and extremely thoughtful afterwards. The whole staff, from the sweet woman at the front desk to the vet herself, were SO wonderful throughout the whole ordeal. The vet made sure to keep us updated and frequently checked in with us the whole time they were checking her out and testing her, was comprehensive in letting us know of our options, was so good with Misty through the very end, and, when things took a turn for the worse, was so kind and understanding in dealing with two sobbing grown women. The lovely woman at the front desk who helped us with the paperwork and transactions was just as sweet, and were so appreciative of how sympathetic she was. We especially appreciate the cards with Mistys paw prints she made; Im definitely framing mine. Thank you all so much for making an incredibly heartbreaking situation slightly more bearable.

While Im grateful that such a place exists to help with emergencies, I wasnt impressed with the service I got. It wasnt bad but it wasnt great either. I only saw 1 other animal there but we were still made to wait in the lobby for some time instead of at least getting us to a room (plenty of which were open). My dog had gotten an infection from a recent surgery and was he seemed to be in pain. It was the middle of the night and he couldnt relax enough to sleep at the time. Hes a Husky so he makes growling noises but hed not aggressive. The vet treated him like he was going to bite his hand off despite the fact that he didnt display any aggressive signs and we had already told him thats just what he does to communicate, even with us. They said they could treat him but it was expensive and it would take several hours since they were short-handed that night. I asked for a general ETA but they couldnt give me that much.FYI - its almost $200 for the overnight emergency fee alone without any tests. Just something to consider as its expected to be paid that visit in full.

So far I’ve visited this place three times. And each time has been a very positive experience. They have seen my Doberman twice and most recently my mother’s cat. The first time my Doberman was seen was because she was bitten by a bat when she was a puppy and her eye had swollen up. They were very professional and very calm which is pretty important to a then 10 and 11 year old with their parents. The next time she was seen was because both of her rear legs weren’t working right. This time she was not seen right away as they had a critical case already but they laid down yoga mats making it more comfortable for her to walk. They also all came by her and she made sure to thank them with lots of kisses. When she was seen the vet said that her Lyme disease pills that her regular vet had given her weren’t quite taking affect so they wanted to up the dosage. That visit took about six hours but I don’t mind one but because they were taking care of a serious case while still making sure my dog was comfortable. This last visit was more somber as we brought in my mother’s cat who wasn’t eating or drinking and had no body heat whatsoever. They got her hooked up to keep her from going into cardiac arrest but that was all they really could do without going over our limit. We decided to let her go on her next journey pain free. They were very caring and nurturing to my mother. She was afraid of moving her cat off of the table so she could hold her and they did it for her. They were very respectful and gave us the time that we needed with her before and after. And just today my mother received a card in the mail with three decorative papers with her cats paw prints on them. I saw her face get sad but then light up that they thought of her and cared enough to do that. Thank you for that. I will always bring my pets or recommend others to this clinic because they truly do care about the wellbeing of your animal.

They informed me that he likely had late stage cancer that was causing the bleeding and discussed euthanasia. This was the pet Id had since age 9. They also told me what it would cost, what they would do, and what it could do for my cat. The communication was impeccable. I am so thankful! Because of this, I felt I could make easier decisions because I knew in detail what was going on even in my absence. When I arrived, I was brought back to my cat immediately and was able to see and care and pet him. They did not interrupt me or rush the process. As I was there, they explained on detail what was going on, showed me his xrays and again, gave me a great understanding of what my cat was going through. They gave me three options, all with prices and listed everything that would be required. In the end, I decided to euthanize because of every piece of knowledge and professional opinion they gave me.It was my first time having to make this decision and they saw my heartache and grief for my loving cat. Poor communication.Poor Timeliness of care.In May of 2016, Our very small dog was attached by a large dog. We rushed her to another vet in Burnsville and they quickly wrapped her abdomen and sent us about a mile away to South Metro. They called ahead report and were told she was in shock. She was seen by a vet who stated she needed surgery asap and as soon as we paid the low end of the estimate$1750.00 (could go double this) they would take her to surgery. We paid $1750 and there was a change of shift and a new vet came on. We needed to take care of our child who had also been bitten during the attack. Sadly we said good by to our dog who we thought was going into surgery. Note that while we were there the vet took care of a dog with a bleeding paw pad and one that had been throwing up, rather than start our dogs surgery. We were told to expect a call once they opened her up and knew what damage they were dealing with. We still had not received a call 2 hours later and we were waiting by the phone. We called them and were told only that they had not yet started surgery but were about start. They let her suffer for 3 hours before starting surgery. The vet opened her up and called us on the phone and said that her blood supply to her organs had been damaged as well as her intestines had been ruptured. We told him to put her to sleep. The next day we were told our dog was too unstable for surgery. If we had been told this the night before we would not have had them go through with the surgery. We would have ended her suffering. They never once called us in that time with an up date on her decline and went ahead with surgery after letting her get worse for hours. The next day we took our little girl to say good bye to her dead dog and the staff all had differing account of what happen the night before. I took aside the person helping us and I stated that I was dissatisfied with the communication and lack of care. I stated they were too busy to care for my dog but they were not too busy to take my money. I stated that as a nurse at our hospital we would not sit on a hot abdomen. Thats what we call a bleeding abdomen. She then stated that our dog didnt have a bleeding abdomen.????? Clearly this women was clueless or we had been lied to by the vet. What about this delay in surgery? The first vet stated the sooner the better What about that? She said oh no thats not it! Your dog was too unstable for surgery I asked why on earth had no one bothered to call us to tell us that. We were told surgery was going to be done hours before it did. She was stable when they took our money. They opened her up knowing she was not going to make it. Now why did you do that? We could have been with her held her and put her out of her suffering but they waited for the clinic to slowed down to open her up and secure their $1750.00.My husband and I are heartbroken and feel completely and deeply sadden that we let this happen to our beloved dog. We allowed them to let her lay there suffering and dying. We were in shock from the gruesome attack and were dealing with a child who was also in shock. I am a nurse and should have known better and been more on top of things. We will never use this hospital again. I wrote of my dissatisfaction on their comment card when picking up her ashes. Never heard a word from them. Clearly they did not care enough to comment.

Never expected to have such a negative experience when you are going through one of the HARDEST experiences. We DO NOT recommend Natasha Novik. Absolutely NO bedside manner. My husband and I made the tough decision for our little boy because he was suffering too much. In 2015 he started having skin issues, scratching until he bled, losing hair, and his skin dry and flaky. Our main vet told us it was mites, which ended up being an incorrect diagnosis. We gave him the prescribed meds, switched his bedding, bathed him, changed his diet, switched laundry detergents - nothing changed. We were then recommended to a dermatologist who tried to help him with steroids, ointments, special shampoo, shots, and more medications. An allergy test came back showing he was allergic to pet dander, among other common things. Pet dander, he was allergic to himself.Within seconds of seeing Natasha Novik, she very clearly stated we needed to get a second opinion, recommending ONLY the U of M and she would not assist us. When I questioned her on her recommendation she denied their affiliation. Coincidence? Take a look at the SIGN located right near the driveway entrance, and the BUSINESS CARDS right in your face at their front desk. We told her we had been to our main veterinary clinic with multiple veterinarians recommending a dermatologist. When we told her we had also seen multiple veterinarians at McKeever Dermatology, she stated she had never heard of them before. Excuse me? Doing a basic Google search McKeever is actually rated HIGHER than South Metro on Yelp AND Google reviews. NEVER HEARD of them?! What kind of Veterinarian doesn’t know about surrounding dermatology clinics?By the time Natasha came in to see us, we had been waiting in the exam room for a little over half an hour, already paid for the service, already signed the paperwork, and had come to terms with this is truly the best for our boy. I asked Natasha, if she wasn’t going to go through with the service and was okay seeing our boy suffer more, why didn’t she just say it right away. She stated it was because there were other important patients. Really?! Who SAYS that to anyone? Of course there may be other patients in need, but you never tell someone who’s hurting that their loved one is less important.SO DISAPPOINTED with Natasha’s level of professionalism. Even with this review, I feel like we have to PROVE that we did everything possible, PROVE we spent countless hours and money trying to find the best care and medications, and saw as many professionals to get their opinions as we could. No one knows your fur babies better than you. I will NEVER AGAIN, let someone else think they can make that judgement for my family.

Most of the negative reviews come from upset and heartbroken parents who lost a loved one. If I had to review this place the first time I brought my best friend, first baby and original roll dog Boomer I would have given this place a one star review too. Dr. Brian gave me an honest and no B.S. essemebt of my child and I hated his opinion and evaluation. I asked him not to use the “E” word but he did, several times, and I hated his guts for it.Turns out when my wife and I had the “heart to heart” talk two weeks later he was 💯% right. In Boomers last moments, and as I broke the speed limit and almost ran red lights to get him to the vet, Dr. Brian was there. He passed no judgement on my previous harsh word from our first engagement and he was there to ease Boomers pain and suffering in order to help him move on to a better place. I hate this place, but I will always be grateful for the thankless job they do... especially Dr. Brian B.

We brought in our Yorkie, who has been an integral part of our family for 12 years (since he was old enough to leave his mother.) Our Scamp had suffered a slipped disc over a week ago and was paralyzed in both rear legs. Steroids, sedatives and pain meds initially worked well and he regained some mobility! Unfortunately, over the past three days, the pain meds and sedatives no longer gave him relief...he actually became more anxious after taking them and list mobility, again. At 3:00 am, the staff at this hospital were SO kind, caring and very respectful and supportive with our decision to euthanize our fur baby and take away his obvious pain and anxiety. As difficult and heart-breaking as this experience was, the staff was extremely comforting to both my husband and me; but, to our fur baby. I cannot express how appreciative I am of the staff at this hospital. I strongly recommend that any one use their services.
