I sincerely hope if you are seeking help for any mental health issue you read this review in full before contacting this company. I write it with the purest of intentions hoping it will help someone else avoid the hardship I had looking for help for the first time. This place is absolutely terrible, the counselors offer little to help or sympathy. I waited a month during a very hard time in my life to finally talk to someone and got absolutely no support, wasnt even asked if I was okay (which I was not) or why I made the appointment. I got a call 10 minutes late to my appointment time, was asked a series of questions (general anxiety and depression questionnaire), received one word responses back and was referred to a different therapist after I said I wouldn’t take medication. I then had my referral appointment with a new therapist after another month wait, went through the same questions to be told she wasnt the right person and referred back to the original therapist and offered medication. I left feeling like I was drowning and no one could help me. I would not recommend this group to anyone...ever. Additionally they billed my insurance $360 for the first visit where they just asked me a questionnaire (that I had already filled out before hand online) and honestly offering me no support. Then got billed an additional $250 for the the second therapist to send me back to the first one. I left feeling more hopeless than I did before my appointments. Very disappointed and grateful I was able to find a better therapist at a different company. It makes me so sad to know people are genuinely looking for help and a business like this leaves people feeling worse off then they were before. DO NOT UTILIZE THIS COMPANY, find a different one. Lastly, I honestly had to spend my first counseling session with another firm talking about how difficult of a time I had finding help because of Nystrom and Associates...come to find out Nystrom has a reputation for bad talk therapy with many therapist in the area. Don’t waste your energy or money and make an already difficult time in your life harder by calling this place. Avoid at all cost.

RE: Nystrom’s Response to Initial ReviewThank you for your response however, your practices do not align with that of major clinics across the country. I went to Park Nicollet and my provider (a former employee of yours) was appalled when I stated that you required I take a drug test for a medication I have never abused and taken for extended periods of time with positive results. At my intake appointment at Park Nicollet I left with a prescription for my ADHD medication. I was never required to attend and pay for more appointments than necessary as was asked of me here. Please don’t make excuses for your absurd, unnecessary and deceptive practices and please don’t speak to people under the assumption they have no idea how this works. I may not have attended medical school but I know enough to know that sporadic drug testing for someone without drug seeking behaviors is not required by law, it’s a choice you have made likely in an effort to bring in more revenue. Thank youI would advise anyone seeking empathetic, competent care to look elsewhere! Nystrom & Associates’ main concern is focused on bleeding their patients dry financially. I have been charged nearly $400 by them WITH excellent medical insurance for a single tele health appointment and still have not received my ADHD prescription from my psychiatrist. I am a 23 year old student and have never exhibited drug seeking behaviors and have no history with substance abuse but was told I would be subjected to sporadic drug tests which cost $95 each time in order to maintain my ADHD prescription. They want their patients to go broke and do not provide adequate or helpful care. This clinic is nothing more than a scheme perpetrated by greedy doctors who are more interested in meeting quotas and making money than the well being of their patients I am extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with every aspect of “care” I have received. Please go elsewhereI would like to add that the nurses and front desk employees I spoke with on the phone were all excellent and worked so hard to assist me! I sincerely hope they are paid well considering they seemed to care more about my satisfaction than the actual doctor I am paying to do virtually nothing :) all in all I gained nothing from my exchanges with the medical professionals here other than a hole in my bank account. Fortunately I was able to find my original psychiatrist who left Nystrom a few years ago at a different clinic and I am eager to work once more with someone who understands my position and provides me with efficient and useful care instead of putting barriers in front of it.

The therapy session I had to establish care for my son was very unpleasant. The therapist was cold and made me feel like I was being interrogated. I felt like she was talking at me amd not to me. The office was a very cold and uncomfortable environment. It looks like a place where people get court ordered to go. I will seek care elsewhere. Also after reading other reviews I believe whom ever is in charge needs to have a 101 class with the therapists or get new ones all together. Patients are coming here for insight, comfort and help. I literally felt like I wasted an hour of my time when I left. This is an important profession and should not be taken lightly. People go to these places to better themselves. Do your Jobs!!!!

I FULLY understand the 24 hour cancellation policy and am very willing to abide by these policies, however, I was charged $91.80 for calling EIGHT minutes too late. Just to be clear, the appointment was for a Thursday at 11am and I was able to get through to cancel the appointment Wednesday at 11:08 am. 8 minutes is costing me $91.80. I have now cancelled all of my appointments which is quite unfortunate because I did really like the therapist I had saw. It is not worth the headache!!!!!!!!!I did speak with someone in the billing department at the New Brighton location who seemed nice and started an appeal for me, hopefully the appeal process goes better.

Starting with the positive: clean and friendly atmosphere. My psyciatrist seemed knowledgeable and caring to my medication needs and requests during the exam. I was scheduled a UA after the exam and supposed to follow up with a quick confirmation meeting briefly reviewing my medication changes. The negatives: the process of scheduling a confirmation meeting took over two weeks of phone-tag and and for whatever reason could not be done over the phone. My suggestion: offer face-time or over-the-phone follow-up exams. Many newer clinics are saving patients time and distance with face-time meetings and I feel this clinic would benefit greatly from them.

They messed up my insurance more then once. Told me that I needed to figure it out or pay over $2000.00 and then I finally talked with someone in billing that listened and proved them wrong I stopped going. When I was going they talked about eliminating frustration...Nystrom was my biggest frustration. The counselor I was seeing just called MONTHS later to see how I was doing. I wouldnt go back to Nystrom if you put a gun to my head. I wont post my counselors name but they should be ashamed of their own actions, or lack there of, and the actions of Nystrom.

Great therapists but my medication provider never pronounced my name correctly and I had been seeing them for about a year or two. My medication was restricted despite being told by my medication provider that my medication would be filled for the next four months while I look for an adult medication provider. They played phone tag with me and my mother for about a week and I guess it turns out I was just lied to at my last appointment with my medication provider. I will be switching clinics immediately.

Horrible experience. I am not angry about it. I just wish to warn parents about this place. I completely understand why 98% of the people are giving them a terrible rating and why they are so uncomfortable with the care or the lack there of. As a mom the hair on the back of my neck stood up when we met our I assigned doctor. I could not quite identify the uneasiness I felt for her first appointment. Our second appointment confirmed this uneasiness. I will be seeking other mental health treatment if necessary. I will not continue on with this provider. How are providers like this not losing licenses? How are they not been reported to the state of Minnesota????Any positive comments must be coming from the office as part of some sort of damage control. (which I am sure happens a lot with almost every company that is trying to recover some sort of rating.)I was on time for my sons appointment this morning to have him evaluated for ADD. I had left the parent questionnaire at home on my table accidentally. I requested a copy of the parent questionnaire from the doctor (caring) for my child. His response was they are too expensive to print, I can not give you another one.How can you possibly give my childs diagnosis of ADD without any parental input whatsoever?? Already, there is no questionnaire from his teachers because it is summer. The lobby was dirty, the staff were were very very Cold and seemed very disgusted with their jobs. It felt like a state run mental institution with very little funding.I would not recommend this place for anyone, but most especially any parent needing add evaluations for their child.

My experience with Nystrom & Associates has been extremely disappointing and frustrating. Their customer service is poor and impersonal, which is surprising since they supposedly specialize in treating mental health issues. They are way overpriced and extremely inflexible. I have never had such low quality service at any healthcare facility before. I recently gave my updated insurance information to two different people over the phone before my last appointment, and when I came in to the office they still didnt have the information in their system. The receptionist took a great deal of time searching the computer, copying my card and entering my information, and then after all of that, told me that there wouldnt be time for me to have my appointment and Id have to come back another time. They charged me over $100 for missing an appointment, even though I was there and had arrived only a couple of minutes after my scheduled time due to heavy traffic. Their regular rates are astronomical, charging over $600 for the initial intake appointment, which lasted less than half an hour, after I had spent nearly an hour filling out a massive questionnaire that the nurse barely looked at when I finally went in, and they charged over $200 for a 20 minute follow-up appointment with a nurse. This appears to be a large corporation that is out to make money and seems to care very little for the welfare of the patients.Overall, my experience with Nystrom & Associates has been extremely negative, and I would recommend that people look around for a more professional doctor or clinic rather than going here. I will never go back.

A note to the public reading these reviews: keep in mind this clinic (as are all the Nystrom & Assoc locations) mainly provide Mental Health Care. If previously unaware of this point you now know this. Thus as with any illness when a person who has not been feeling right but cant shake it off, or a parent or family member who is very concerned about a loved one who has been exhibiting symptoms &/or behavior, speech,, sleep has changed so as to be a bit to quite worrisome, the logical step is to contact a Medical Provider to be seen. The brain is another organ in the body. Many people are still stuck in the thinking of Mental Health as a Bad thing when just as there is a chemical in the pancreas for example that if not sufficient amount, a person gets sick (Diabetes- Adult Unset) so is it is the same with brain. &, like the pancreas (again for example), with early intervention medication is not always necessary & other treatments (diet, exercise & monitoring...) may be enough. But at a later time, meds may need to be added. My point is people coming here are often in crisis or not in a good place mentally &/or emotionally & may sound rude & obnoxious when just trying to hold it together. And often, they feel terribly guilty for how they may have been perceived yet cant bring themselves to apologize because then they would have to verbalize out loud to strangers they have a Mental illness. Keep in mind too, the Receptionist, Phone Triage, Drs Nurses & others are working in a stressful environment (compared to most other people type clinics) & some dont stay long . Yet others do - get to know them. Others transfer to clinics closer to home or other departments. Plus new (government related) rules, standards, etc., are frequent, so its important that a staff member is positive of information he or she is relaying. Im a 10+ year client with same doctor @ same clinic. Ive moved nearly 30 min from A.V. but stayed with my Doctor & clinic even tho one is close by. Finally, a persons reaction can be affected positively or negatively by ones own outlook more than actual events. Thanks.

There were 3 separate occasions in which my medications were send to non existent addresses. The stress from this alone was enough to make me want to switch providers. After a recent move, I wanted to move to a different location. They cancelled the doctor I was seeing, then two days later told me that I couldnt see the doctor at the location closer to me, then when I tried to simply go back to my original doctor, I was told they were not seeing additional patients, that I would have to go through the testing again, and agree to a substantial change of medication dose. This is the most unprofessional, sloppy organization Ive ever had the displeasure of working with. I guess in the end, Im glad to be forced to make a change. FIND ANOTHER PROVIDER AT ALL COSTS.

It has been years since I have gone to this clinic. My provider retired and I needed another psychiatrist. I had to do an intake interview that was quite expensive, when I had already been going there for years. I ended it because the psychiatrist was rather rude. He said he wasnt going to lie for me to get disability. I needed to have a doctor provide information to my companys insurance provider. The only reason I had the appointment with him was that my doctor retired the month before! I had severe depression, severe enough to go on my companys disability program. I was functioning at a 40, and eventually went on SSDI. I also was diagnosed by another clinic as having bipolar disorder. Another gentleman I started seeing kept telling me what I thought and felt. This clinic turned me off; I experienced nothing Christian about the care. What I did experience was a for-profit clinic.

I would have to say avoid this place at all costs. My wife Nicole had canceled an appointment and they continue sending us a bill for $102.00 for a missed appointment. I have left them several messages for them to call me about this bill and they have not returned my phone call for three months. My wife had called in an stated that she had canceled the appointment and they stated they could do nothing about it. I figure in this type of business of talking with people you would think they would call you back. I would have to say if you like throwing money way I would say this is maybe a good place for you. We are continuing to receive bills in the mail for no wrong doing, so avoid this place like the plague.

I honestly wouldnt even give them ONE star except it looks like you have to. Extremely poor customer service. The team puts you on hold to ask other team members questions they should know the answers to. They require paperwork that is not required with other treatment facilities. I have turned in paperwork over 1 weeks ago and been trying to get my daughter into their night program for 2 weeks! It never took that long to get my daughter into any other program. They charged me for filling out paperwork as if it were a scheduled appointment, and during an actual scheduled appointment, she did not do her job by giving me therapy, but used the half hour to fill out paperwork for my insurance that was due three days before the appointment. They are awful. The office manager, Jessie Maurer, failed to fix these problems while giving me an attitude as if she didnt care at all.
