I just wanted to say a big thank you to Dr. England and her team that interacted with Stella and I on 08/21. I brought her in and asked to be assessed after Stella had scratched her eye from some irritation after a bath. Luckily, it was superficial. Necessary exam was performed and med prescribed. After a week her eye has healed without complications. Yes, I waited about 2-3 hours for the formal consultation face to face, but in any ER you will have to wait to be seen by an MD. They have to deal with the most severe and emergent cases first, and tend to their patients staying overnight for observation/admitted.Thank you guys for treating my baby Stella!!I appreciate everything you guys have done to help my precious baby!

My 7 month Alaskan Malamute pup had to be hospitalized for 3 days at VCA, East Bay and I cant begin to describe the amazing job EVERY employee did in caring for my baby. They found the source of the problem and came up with a treatment plan almost immediately. They had NO problem with me calling in as much as I needed to check in on her. They allowed my fiancé and I to visit her as much as we wanted to as well.I was a mess the entire time she was in there, but they kept my mind at ease and did everything possible to reassure me that theyre doing everything in their will to make her as happy and comfortable as possible. Its one of the only 24/7 ERs in the area so yes, theres going to be a wait to be seen, especially at night when theres only 1 doctor on duty, but its a Vet ER, what do you expect? I was finally able to pick up my baby girl this morning and shes nearly back to normal and being herself again. I cant thank the staff, the techs, and the vets enough! I wish they offered primary care services for both my pets!

Turn away people, rejecting people in the case of emergency because they dont want to try. Dont value life. Stay away, cold heart. Ask for money when they didnt do a thing. Recommend euthanasia right way. Trying to survive is one of the natural genes in all kinds of animals. Take away their survival chances are not the right thing to do. This place should be called the slaughterhouse instead of the emergency clinic. If we dont want you to save a life, we could stay at home--cold heart. Only care about how much money they can get out from you. Even when they are not helping, bystander position, they still have the guts to ask for money--horrible place. A simple procedure would increase the chances to save my ten days old puppy. The incident happened when the mother tries to carry the puppy with her mouths. Didnt handle correctly, let a hole in the body, we rush to the emergency clinic right way, but no help. No matter how long we beg for it.

Seriously consider somewhere else! I came in with a good idea of what was wrong with my dog and during check in telling them she ate something gross (spare the details) and is not recovering from her symptoms (again spare the details). The receptionist took my dog I was put in a room with no earthly clue when or even what would occur. I finally peeked out of the room at 2.5 hours of no communication. Coincidentally my dog was just being seen and 5 minutes later veterinarian came in, Burr?. She asked so what is going on with the dog... I was a taken back - I thought we had been over this 2.5 hours ago and therefore testing would have been started (assumed the testing was what was taking so long!) She said other animals came in with more severe problems, except in the 2.5 hours with nothing do to but noticing things - one maybe two animals came in!? I asked for a giardia test right off the bat ! So this vet launched into a speech about red herrings and that we shouldnt get distracted by my description of the cause because it may actually be something much more serious... and went into some terrible scenarios or terrible health conditions (she is 3 year old healthy dog) and suggested X-rays and other time and money consuming tests and blood work instead of doing what I asked initially ----to tell me if she picked up a parasite. I let her know that after 2.5 hours I cant sit around another 2.5 hours (who knows what kind of $ they would want before telling me she has a giardia). She let me know I could leave my dog and go home - no way - Seemed like they were going to do exploratory surgery on her or come up with enormous bills! I told her this all made me very uncomfortable and I need to take my dog to her regular vet instead- she looked shocked left quickly and did lots of whispering to the receptionist who came in with a bill for the exam! I said wait, she did not do an exam but if she did she did not tell me about it! She left and this dr burr came back at my request and I had to ask her to tell me the results of her exam- strikingly unprofessional! She seemed to be reaching for things to tell me like my dog seemed dumpy I asked her again, did you say that she was dumpy and dehydrated (even tho shes been drinking fine). I told her-- ok, thanks for the info, you didnt tell me you even did an exam, which clearly made her mad and she snapped I didnt get the chance. Why in the world did she leave the room then, Im guessing to do frantic whispering to the receptionist? The way this all went down makes me feel strongly that this place is set up to make those dollar bills over pet health and professionalism- Out and out scam.

I, we, trusted you, VCA and Antioch Animal Control, and not only would you not even ask me if I wanted to adopt the animal or even give me a hint of status on its condition, you killed this little helpless life. Shame shame on you. You’re probably thinking, it’s just one more lousy animal How about your life? Do you value it? You’re a sham excuse for taking up space on Gods earth; How about someone throwing you in a garbage disposal? unfortunately your fate awaits. Here’s something you need to learn: That People have a history and have developed relationships with their pets and creatures who live among us. You and your laws interfere with the natural born inclination to FEEL FOR OTHERS……something you obviously haven’t developed.

My dog, Kuma (now Cone Boy) was a big dramatic butt at the vet but they still treated us very well and were forgiving. They treated my dogs hematoma very well and pretty quickly. They informed us we need to keep our dog on leash at all times while at a vet, given his fear aggression/reactivity, which we totally understand. Some of the vets handled him extremely well and knew how to approach him, and others not as much. Thank you for the good experience none-the-less and for treating him so well. Im just happy hes okay now.

I have had a terrible experience with this veterinary business. I could’ve been homeless with a sick dog and they still wouldn’t help my dog because all they care about is money. My dog had her first seizure in late February and it was a Friday night, so my Vet was closed. They examined her but were all about the money. Clarified the costs at every step of the way so thorough it was like they didnt care about the pet, they cared about being paid. They evaluated and blood work done. Sent me home with nothing but a bill. They did think that because my dog had her first seizure at 13 it was not epileptic. I agreed it was most likely neurological.Went to my vet for follow up and medication.July 3, 2020 my dog went into continuous seizures after her medication and had 3 at home, 1 in the car to the vet and 1 in their office. I was not allowed in due to Covid-19 (total understandable). Im waiting outside and they call me to tell me they want to keep her overnight and start epileptic medication (mind you they were the first to determine it probably was not epileptic). I reminded them of their earlier diagnosis and told them my vet agreed and that maybe it was time to let her go. The vet continued to tell me they wanted to keep her and control her seizures. It was like they wanted more $ out of me by keeping her overnight.I told them I disagreed and again reminded them of their diagnosis and that I didnt think that I needed her on the medication that would turn her more into a lifeless dog any more than she already was.Suddenly the vet says well, we think this is neurological. I said I just said that twice. Then she proceeded to tell me that she supported my decision when I said I didnt want to leave her. Have her wake up and me not there and not knowing what was going on would be very stressful. Finally she agreed and supported my decision. Then the tech calls me with more pricing options (really???). There was a feeling it was not about my pet, it was about the money. So disappointed in them twice.

Our dog Momo was not putting any weight on one of her legs so we rushed her in. The Doctor (whos name I can not remember, but it started with a C) took our girl in immediately to make her comfortable so we could figure out what was wrong. After multiple tests we determined that there were too many things wrong to allow our baby to have a decent quality of life. Momo was somewhere between 11 and 13 years old and had lived a very hard life before she came into my parents lives. After a couple of years and struggles with my parents other dogs we took her over and she had been the best addition to our family we could imagine. We determined the best course of action was to have her humanely laid to rest and the staff was absolutely amazing. They allowed us some time with our girl and let us be with her for her last moments. Making this decision was not easy by any stretch but knowing it was the best choice for her and having a staff there to make sure we got closure was amazing. I really can not thank the ladies who helped us today enough. she was in so much pain and the top priority was to make her comfortable. Thank you Dr. C and the rest of the ladies (whos names I did not catch) for being so sweet and making us feel validated in our choice for our girl. We will forever be grateful for your professionalism and attentiveness.

My baby got hit by a car a little over a month ago. Our local vet was not available and we rushed him to VCA. It was a terrifying and heartbreaking experience for all involved. As soon as we had paid the upfront fee they began to work on him. I really appreciate the Vets at VCA, they did all they could to help my boy and explained in great detail his injuries and our choices. Our Abraham was one of a kind and a beautiful soul, we didn’t want him to suffer anymore for our benefit. He loved to swim, his sister Susan and going to work with his Dad, he hated any type of medicine and blue herons. We miss him so much everyday. Thank you to the ladies at VCA for being so professional and answering all of our questions. It was one of the hardest decisions of my life. The staff gave us all the information and then time to decide based off the info, they did not push us and were not afraid to say, I don’t know. Even though it was a tough one, I believe we made the right decision for Abraham. Thank you for all that you do for the injured animals.

Please take the time to read this horrible experience with me and my family:I took my American Bulldog here with my family July 14th. Her name is Sammie and she is 4 years old. Sammie was out hiking when she got heatstroke and collapsed. My family took her to the van and to our house. They threw Sammie in the tub with cold water, she finally cooled down. She was so scared. 2 hours later we decided to take her to the clinic who said she should go to the ER. Within these 2 hours, Sammie was able to lift her head, stand up, and pant. When we got the the ER they tried making my dad sign a waiver saying if she dies, can they preform CPR. We took it very offensive like they wanted her to pass, plus they kept saying “Just sign the bottom and date” multiple times, talking over my dad. My father refused and they took Sammie to the back and examined her. They finally took us back and the vet comes in. She says that Sammie is in “critical condition” and she can’t breathe on her own, we were confused because she was fine in our car and all of a sudden unable to breathe on her own. So they left and came back to tell us her treatment plan and the bill. It came out to be 4000 dollars. We couldn’t afford that and thought we give Sammie what she ONLY NEEDS and we take her home and monitor home. The vet said “We don’t recommend that because she is in critical condition” when I asked her what that meant, she didn’t give me a complete answer. Then they left and gave us a shorter bill of what Sammie NEEDS. They came back and told us to consider putting her down. Every time they left and came back, it was something worse. I asked questions and they couldn’t give me a real answer. The vet told us to prepare ourself because she wasn’t gonna make it through the night if we took her home. They told us her IVs would be pro bono but another nurse said Yeah they are not free, I dont know why they told you that. So we ended us paying 300 for what Sammie needed and took her home. 2 days later, sammie is gaining her strength back and wagging her tail. She is completely fine but will take long to heal. Please do not take your pet here, they are careless and care about the money. They seemed to not know what they were talking about. I have another story from my sister that they tried to put her dog down over a broken leg because he was in pain, and they ended taking him home and caring for him there. And now he is running around loving life. Save yourself the time and money and dont come to this place.

We held off on xrays because the assistant and vet told me we would get the fecal test back soon. It is now almost three days later and I took my dog else where. My dog is already on meds and on the road to recovery. I spent 702$ for them to tell me nothing and not help my dog. The vet at rio vista clinic was amazing it cost me 130$ for exam and meds. He did a finger poop scoop sample took one sniff and determined my dog got into a chemical or toxic plant to animals. Then for the staff at east bay to tell me sorry you were miss informed but if you come back here for x-ray itll be the visit fee of like 115$ plus like 400$ for xrays. The vet I went to charges 125$. I agree with the review that if they could give no stars they would. Because if I could, I would do the same. Zero compassion, zero conversation about my options, and Dr. Cappelletti spoke to me like a robot with no feeling about my situation emotionally or financially. She told me she would print me some instructions on home care and instead brought back a typed piece of paper stating that I opted to take my puppy home instead of going with their first suggestion of treatment. Which was not accurate and only their attempt to “cover their behinds” should something happen to my pup. Covering their own liabilities was the ONLY effective thing they did during my visit. I felt unimportant and not cared for. So they charged me $91 to tell me what I already knew and tell me to go to my vet. Don’t worry, I will. And I will NEVER go back. So disappointed. Yesterday I came here after calling in tears as my very active French bulldog was not wanting to walk. He would yelp when I picked him up. Upon arriving I called to tell them what was going on as they were the closest emergency vet to me. Because of everything going on they had to come get him from my car and I wait there. I got a call from the vet saying that she wanted to do a stomach x-Ray, which I agreed to. The nurse calls to give me a quote and says so for the blood work, x-ray, and ultra sound plus visit it would be X amount of dollars I then told the nurse she only mentioned the x-ray none of the others he said ok well its your decision if you dont want to do blood work because again I brought him in for something muscular I didnt think blood work was necessary. I did mention he throw up in the a.m but that was 8 hours ago and not why I was bringing him in. Long story short she found nothing in the x-ray but sent him home with pain medication. Took him home and 3 hours later he was worst. Yelping when standing up. Peeing when he did stand and yelping worst when picking him up. So I made a call to SAGE in concord who said bring him in. Took him in there and the vet right away diagnosed him with signs of IVDD a very popular injury in Frenchies. Stating that there was a possibility he would wake up today not walking or moving his legs and recommend we see a neurologist and possible surgery in the a.m.! NOW my frustration comes from that, I kept telling the vet I think its muscular I dont think its anything to do with his Stomach. Instead of going that route she kept rolling with the spit up of a bone in the A.M. Im writing this as Im waiting at UC Davis to hear whats the next step. Im so upset that we wasted our time and money here for an upset stomach when we are actually waiting to hear if surgery will help him walk again. She claims she did a full physical work up and he was walking fine in the office but if his x-ray came back with just gas and kibble in it wouldnt you go further as to see what is causing him not to walk? I called this morning to voice my concerns and all they could tell me was you can submit a claim to the veterinary board if you are unhappy dont waste your time or money here. Drive the extra 15 mins to SAGE in concord.

She was having seizures and said she was going to have brain damage. He said after an hr he waited and asked to see her and said she looked better so he decided to bring her home so if she passed she will be home and if she makes it through the night and we can take her somewhere cheaper. We carried him to the car and rushed him to the vet late at night(thank you for being 24hours!!) they were very kind and did their best to help him but there was just not much they could do.They got me a laser print of his paw, took care of the burial/cremation (you choose regular or ashes spread at a pet cemetery that you can visit.) and sent us a very kind card signed by the staff. They even notified his regular vet.I have had him in there twice. First time was for a bloody foot on a Sunday and second was for this. I may have lost a family member that night but I have no doubt he was as comfortable as he could possibly ever be in such a situation. I know he could feel the love because I did.

Best vet experience I have ever had, highly recommend! Dr. Hamm and Santana were amazing, so kind and really helped give my husband and I piece of mind about a swollen gland on our cats neck. They treated our cat with such care, as if he were their own. He absolutely loved them! I really appreciate how in depth doctor Hamm went with the examination and our options if the swelling got worse. Very reasonable price too for an emergency vet and for such an in depth exam. Cant thank them enough!

The nurses who work here have little to no knowledge. I’m absolutely applaud by the work ethic and being over charged. I went in after my poor puppy was hit by a car( she is okay now) and requested certain tests to be done. After waiting hours they said the tests were done and she didn’t have any major injuries. Come next day I get a call stating they DIDNT EVEN PERFORM THE TESTS THEY CHARGED ME FOR THAT I REQUESTED. While being there I overheard them saying to another patient that they didn’t even have the materials needed to help her dog. Disgusted and highly disappointed. This accident could have been life threatening thank god it wasn’t and they wouldn’t have even been helpful besides taking my money.

Almost 2 weeks ago we ended up rushing our dog to Dr. Hamm for heat stroke. We truly thought we had lost our pup. This was the most terrifying and scary situation ever for a pup parent. We were also on Vacation from Montana and were just about to head home. The staff were very nice and kind from the moment we stepped into the facility. Dr. Hamm took such good care of our dog and brought him back to life and didnt hesitate to answer all concerns and questions during this visit. We truly appreciate everything this facility and Dr. Hamm did to make sure we left California with our baby and that his health was back to normal when we returned home. She gave us wonderful suggestions and care instructions on our dog and has also answered questions a week after we returned home. We are greatful for this business and all the help and work they put into making sure our baby was leaving the with us that day. Thank you VCA East Bay and Dr. Hamm! We will be back to visit and bring Kain by to say hello.

My partner and I had a similar experience as Justin, not one but two of our beloved animals past away that night. I am only grateful for one thing, my poor baby didnt suffer long we happened to be about 5 minutes away from this clinic which was a ghost town when we arrive on Mon. Sept. 16th about 1:30 am. The receptionist though calm and soft spoken was only concerned about payment. The doctor and other staff were only present in passing not one person offered any empathy. No sorry for your loss, nothing. The doctors bedside approach sucked! Why are you in veterinary medicine if you cant show some compassion for your clients loss. Most people care for their animals like their own children. Maybe a workshop in grief counseling could make the difference in your next 2 am emergency. We were a wreck driving home even if it was 5 min. away. And for the money we did pay, (I shudder to think if we may have not had enough funds what might have happened) no one despite all the information we left them with gave us a follow up call to see how WE were.

Excellent! My 7 year old beagle mix fell on the side of the pool. He was howling in pain. I thought he broke his ribs. My vet was closed. I called EBV emergency and the woman who answered was extremely sympathetic and helpful. I took my dog in around 7pm and we were out by 9pm. I had to wait because of other severe emergencies. This is totally acceptable under the circumstances. I was lucky enough to get Dr. Smith. She was excellent. Took great care of my pup , was thorough and the price was reasonable. She even called the next day to see how he was. I wish she had her own practice. Would definitely take my animals to her. Great experience, will use again if needed.Had to return here again with my little Gertie and a mangled foot. They were amazing! They took great care of my little senior girl who already has spinal stenosis. I love this place and Dr. England. The staff is so caring and professional. I watched from my car as they worked tirelessly taking care of many emergencies come and go. I am so grateful they are here. Thank you to all the staff. You are angels!!

This Vet Hospital is no heart and very money Oriented. They wont do anything to take care of your dog until you pay them. What a horrible experience we had to this Vet Hospital. Dont trust this Vet Hospital. The Vet Hospital only concern for the MONEY..STAY AWAY FROM THIS VET AND THE MANAGER..So Rude...If you care for your animals bring them for the Vet that will take care of them fist and after for the life of the animals.. NOT MONEY ORIENTED VET HOSPITAL..Be smart..theres more good Vet Hospital that will take care of your animals better without stressing you to pay first and charging you for a redicoulous amount..!!! Stay Away to this Vet..

Words like thank you can not be enough. You saved my English Bulldog Edward from heat stroke. He had little chance of making it. You had a Vet Tech stay with him all night. The doctor told me they took his temperature and it didnt even register it was so high. This group of angels truly love animals. I can not express the how grateful I am for all of you. You are all so professional and care so much for animals in trouble. I know he would have never made it if it wasnt for you. God Bless you all, I wish I could say more but words cant say enough. Again, Thank You, Kathleen Diaz Barbara Honey and Edward.

And while the situation is one I dont wish on anyone, I pray that when met with such a circumstance you are surrounded by the type of compassion, care and love that EBVE offers everyone through their doors. My gratitude is eternal, truly.

If I could’ve left a review without selecting ANY stars I would’ve!!!! Do NOT take your pets there unless it’s clearly life or death!!! But I have read some reviews that stated they tried pushing death and saying how near it is to get the poor pet owners to fork over some money!!1st...I waited 2 hours then finally we left!!!!!! I had to go up front after the 1st hour to see how much longer since clearly my pet was also there for an emergency!!!2nd the lady told me 15 more mins and then there went another hour!! Mind you people are going in and out of the other exam rooms while we haven’t even been seen since registration. Just because she didn’t go in hit by a car or bleeding clinging to life doesn’t mean she wasn’t an emergency and shouldn’t have been past over. I brought her in because her eyes were rolling and started crossing out of no where!! It could’ve been a seizure an allergic reaction .... ANYTHING but idk since I’m no vet!!!Icing on the cake.....when we left and walked out nobody in sight anywhere!!!!!! ( def. better for them because I was going to be the furthest thing from nice! ) Cars had filled up their parking spots which means obviously they were in there somewhere. Where and doing what????.... who knowsSorry for the long post but if you can avoid going there it’s better for your dog yourself and your patience/temper.

My dog got hit by a car at 10:30 at night and we rushed her here. First, they took about 30 minutes before they came in asking if they could give her pain meds. DUH! She was hit by a car! Then they take another 30 minutes and ask about doing x-rays. Again, DUH! They tell us she has a broken hip. Luckily its in a place that doesnt require surgery, We can have a specialist look at it if we want though. We ask if its necessary since it adds hundreds of dollars to the bill. They said that they didnt think so. So they stitched he up and sent her home with instructions to keep her in a pen to keep her from moving around and give her these pain pills.(This was over $1,000!) For a week we do this. We were leaving on vacation at that point and took her to our regular vet (not this emergency hospital). The vet was super angry and accused us of animal neglect. She told us our dog was in severe pain and needed follow up x-rays, different meds, and around the clock care. Obviously we were shocked because we followed the emergncy hospitals directions down to the letter! We rushed her to Sage in Concord where they re-do x-rays. Turns out her hip was broken (like they told us). However, her tail was broken and the other hip out of place! Our dog had been in severe pain for an entire week without us knowing! It was too late for surgery by the time we got back from vacation. If East Bay Veterinary Emergency had diagnosed her correctly from the start we could have made sure she was taken care of properly. Now her healing process will take 6-8 weeks and she will always have a limp. All EBVE cared about was money. They definitely dont care about your pet. Avoid them at all costs! I will never take a pet there again!

Very relaxed environment for a person going thru a rough time with there dog weather its minor or severe. Any situation making your animal feel pain makes you feel pain and i honestly went there stressed out, upset n worried willing to do anything but DVM Moi Kouch was there to quickly help do vitals and basic exam, she recommended a few procedures that were needed to do to figure out what was wrong. Although before i poured out $1500, she helped thru steps to narrow it down with only blood and a ultrasound. Words cant express how much me and my fiance appreciate Dr. Kouch and definitely 100% recommend her to anyone needing professional care for there animal regardless of the condition.

First off Im saying good because my animal is being professionally taken care of. Aside from that my cat was DYING. She had probably only a few more minutes left to live and they were so much more concerned in getting paid first. My wife is currently unemployed and Im undergoing training to get deployed to AFGHANISTAN. Im not constantly available to do whatever is needed but they required us to sign up for some care credit bs and it was so complicated and stupid. All the while our cat which we love so much as if it were our child was dying with her entrails coming out of her They refused to start operating until payment was made. Such a horrible thing to do to an animal to make them sit there and die because you are so much more worried about money. Needless to say once payment was made they immediately started operation and our cat was taken care of. But unless you have a carecredit account, if your animal is within minutes of dying DO NOT GO HERE!
