I will never come back. I told them upon arrival I got positive pregnancy tests at home so they did their own. Clearly they were positive in office too and they said they’re negative (tests attached are the ones they did in office). The nurse and doctor went and asked someone else what a positive pregnancy test looks like. They then said there is supposed to be two lines and there’s only one. I thought maybe there only was one since the sample was so diluted, but then when they stepped out and checked and there’s definitely 2 lines on both tests. My concerns about my ovary pain (the original reason I came) were brushed off and they told me it’s normal pain and bleeding. It is so obvious it’s not normal if I feel it daily. Left and called a new doctor. Do not come here if you want your problems solved. I never write reviews but people need to know about this place. I wonder how badly they’ve messed up on other patients.

I had a natural birth in a tub of water at the hospital and baby and i were happy and healthy. The midwives were great but everything else was a really bad experience. People kept coming in the room trying to give me an epidural when i told them i didnt want it. After the birth they told me i had to stay the night. The morning i was packed and ready to go. They said i had to stay one more night because they wanted to monitor my babys weight. We were nursing on a regular basis and despite this they kept trying to give her formula and make me pump. Her weight was totally normal. I told them i was leaving. They threatened calling security. Said I didnt want to do that. Said i was putting the baby at risk. I told them i was not asking their permission. We are both happy, healthy and going home now. We were there two days and nights against my will for no reason. My baby is nursing and gaining weight and we are going home. Get your paperwork ready. The nurse came back in after crying and told me she was so sorry for the way they were treating us. That she knew the way things are at the hospital are so wrong and she was just so sorry and she got a midwife. I told her what was happening and she got my paperwork and cut off the bands and got us out.Went to my pediatrician next day for routine measurements and she was shocked at their behavior and said the babys weight was totally normal and she was nursing so well. Never again. Good luck to all you mothers out there. I am almost convinced they were trying to make me stay longer to charge my insurance more.

The term gold standard does not do justice to this institution. The combination of brilliant scientists, researchers, and practitioners provides a level of knowledge unavailable to most of the world, and largely compassionate and ethically-minded staff at every level makes your experience here significantly better than it would be at a typical hospital. I saw these teams perform miracles, and I do not use that word lightly. I was so impressed and grateful at their level of care, that despite having attended university at another Big Ten school, any contributions I make towards a university for the remainder of my life will be going to this hospital. Thank you U of M.

I gave birth to my 2nd daughter here. The medical staff and physicians were kind, knowledgeable and understanding. Rooms were clean and properly stocked. The even had a gaming system in our room in labor & delivery. The reason I had to give them 4 stars instead of 5 is because theyre either understaffed or just overwhelmed at night. The experience in the daytime versus after hours is much different. Takes the nurses and staff much, much longer to respond to patient requests/needs and I had to ask for simple things like water several times before I received it. The food in general was pretty terrible as well, but its a hospital so my expectations werent high. Overall, my experience/overnight stay was great and I would recommend this hospital.

Deleted my post.Disrespectful and super unprofessional.Didn’t know what rooms were able to hook up baby monitors and machines.Treated my wife like her pain and discomfort wasn’t important and didn’t matter.Constantly moved us room to room, then not move us rooms because reasons.Wife can’t even make it to the bathroom, our unborn child’s heart rate is constantly dropping every other half hour, and she’s crying in pain yet that’s “progress”Worst hospital experience by far. Will not be coming back the rest of this pregnancy or for another pregnancy.Period.Also they deleted my last review so that should say something to their integrity and professionalism.

Delivered my first son with great care and amazing nurses. My hubby drove an hour just to deliver my first baby in this hospital. Regardless of the emergency situations I went though in labor, I felt nothing but lucky to have this incredible experience as a first delivery. Great team, high quality service.......... 2 months later after writing the great review, (had to edit my review) Sadly I came to find out that the team actually fractured my babys collarbone. I spoke too fast. Really really disappointed.

10/10 recommend! I had to switch to high risk at 18 weeks with my 2nd son in 2017/2018. They took me in with open arms. Treated me like family. Always checked on me with my issues. I was induced a week early and my doctor was by my side the whole time! Now Im pregnant again(high risk again with same issues) and still making the 2 hour drive to see the amazing team here! They listen to all my issues and get me the help and attention I need in a very timely manner!

10/10 do not reccomend delivering here if you want a natural.birth, even if you go with the midwives.I was lied and manipulated. they were impatient and were continuously looking for problems. I went through 3 different midwife/nurse teams. the two stars is because for the most part the staff were nice but I do not believe they communicated well with eachother at shift changes.again, I just want to leave this review so that if youre debating, I highly recommend not using this hospital. after my experience here I will never willingly deliver in a hospital.they lied about how much blood I was loosing and promised things and didnt follow through multiple times. their monitors for babys heart rate do not work unless someone is constantly holding it to your body.one women said to me yeah, me doing this with my hands wont really help you deliver any faster and continued to finger with my vaginia for several hours? so what are you doing then?...do not reccomend. bring a doula if you do.

I rarely write Google Reviews, but I felt like this one was need. Three weeks ago, I called U of M MFM because of an issue pertaining to a high risk pregnancy. I told them I didnt have a lot of time, but they could only schedule me for two weeks out. Im like kay, I guess Ill have to deal with it. On the appointment day, that was just a 30 minute intake over the phone, the nurse who was assigned to me was not friendly and had attitude. After the intake, the nurse told me that she had to put me on hold, and for me to wait for U of M to schedule me. I waited and waited, but I had told the nurse that I had another doctors appointment before. So I had to hang up and could not be on hold. Good thing I had another appointment with Henry Ford MFM, because then I find out I dilated and had to be rushed to emergency to save my babies. Furthermore, I called back to the MFM office to give them a friendly update on what happened, and the lady that answered the phone didnt seem to care. She asked me if I was transferring records there, and I said no, the surgery is already completed, I just wanted to let you know what happened. She asks, So youll just like to cancel, I said yes. Then she said smartly, Oh, I didnt now what you had met. If you work in a MFM or any type of clinic, work on customer service skills and having compassion for your patients. Your staff represents U of M.P. S. I avoided using names in this post because I feel like with a compliant, maybe people need a second chance.

Cant say enough good things about the level of care we received at this hospital. The nursing staff was great coaching me through a long and painful labor. We received constant attention throughout. Loved the birth tub (you do have to ask for a room with a tub; it isnt guaranteed). After our baby was born we were visited by a series of specialists and nursing staff. Super impressed and would highly recommend to any momma-to-be!

My son was born here in November of 2018. His heart rate was dropping so I was rushed for a emergency C-section. All of the staff was very professional & helpful. My son was born with low blood sugar & stayed a week in the NICU. Although it was the scariest moments of my life the hospital did a wonderful job managing my sons health. I highly recommend this hospital.

They want to force birth control pills down your throat for anything. I have excruciating pain with periods and they offered me birth control for pain and no periods and i politely said no. No matter what i say they just keep pushing. I read all of the bad side effects and heard not only my friends stories but my sisters too about how they were on it and how many problems they have caused. No matter what i told them they deny that any of their stories were real. By the way birth control does not stop periods it makes them worse and makes you fertile.

I feel the strong need to edit my original feedback due to the fact that I was told by some doctors at this practice that I did not have endometriosis because it was not seen on an MRI they sent me to have done. I tried to explain to them that I have had three prior surgeries where endometriosis was removed & it NEVER showed up on an MRI before. They said that they felt pretty sure that I didn’t have endometriosis again. I was diagnosed with adenomyosis & pelvic congestion syndrome on the MRI. I went for a second opinion from Dr. Zaiden at Women’s Excellence in Royal Oak. I am three weeks post op from EXCISION surgery, which is a much better surgery than standard ablation. He removed a LARGE amount of, ENDOMETRIOSIS, adenomyosis, & took care of the pelvic congestion syndrome. I feel so much better!!! I would still be suffering in unbearable pain if I would have listened to the doctors at the U of M clinic. I’m so glad that I went for a second opinion.I’m going leave the four stars because Dr. Griffith was the first doctor I saw at this clinic & was wonderful, although we did disagree about me having endometriosis. There were other doctors at the U of M clinic I spoke with who were very nice as well, even though we didn’t agree.I saw Dr. Griffith for some major pelvic pain issues. So bad that I haven’t been able to walk. She actually listened to me & believed me about the amount of pain I’m in. Dr. Griffith took the time to answer every single question I had. She sent me right away for an MRI. She got back to me with the results immediately. Again, she took the time to explain the diagnoses to me. She answered every question I had. She spoke in a way that I can understand. She came up with a treatment plan to try & help me get back on my feet. She seems to genuinely care about me feeling better & getting better. I wish all doctors were like her.

Mom365 is taking advantage of new moms in this hospital. THey come in tryin to sell you a photo package for $150.00. Their product is not worth it but there is no way for Moms to know until it is too late because they email the photos to you a few weeks later. Also, when new mothers are in the hospital, it is annoying to have salesmen coming into their rooms trying to sell them products. If they dont leave right away, you are very uncomfortable and they keep coming back until you feel obligated to purchase their product just to get rid of them!

My delivery at Von Voightlander was the most horrific experience in my life. I begged for an epidural for 2.5 hours and never received one. The attending physician never made it to my delivery room, even after the baby was born. My nurse, Tiffany, was incredibly unprofessional and had a complete lack of empathy for a laboring mother. For that reason, I rate this hospital 0 stars.I contacted the Head of Nursing in Triage and Patient Relations on several occasions regarding the negligence and malpractice. Head of Nursings investigation revealed that the hospital was not busy on the night I had my baby. The Head of Anesthesiology also stated that there was no reason why I should not have had an epidural. Regardless of their findings, there was no apology from the hospital. After Patient Relations was contacted, the board decided that adequate care was provided.I would not recommend this hospital to any woman who wants to have a good birth experience. Some of what occurred:- After arriving at triage, I was left in the receiving room alone for over 90 minutes while I was in immense pain after requesting an epidural. We called ahead to inform triage that we were on our way, yet this did not help the staff provide better care.- Sent my husband to go find any staff member to come check on me after 30 minutes. Each of the 3 times someone came into the room, they asked me what procedures the last staff member had completed and if I had planned on an epidural even though I had requested one multiple times.- In the delivery room, Nurse Tiffany was very annoyed that I was in pain, had a complete lack of empathy, wanted me to be quiet, told me that the contractions dont last forever, you know, told me to sit still with my hands on top of my legs during my contractions or I cannot have an epidural, and refused to support me emotionally or help make me feel better in any way. I continued to ask how long it would take for the epidural to get here as I was clearly in immense pain, and she said were not withholding it, you know. When I explained this to the Head of Nursing, I was told that I must have misread her intentions.- The attending physician did not make it to my room, even after the birth of my baby- After the delivery, I inquired when we will be moving to the recovery room, to which Nurse Tiffany replied: I need to check you in first.- The investigation into my complaint took 6 months, and we had to follow up many times to get any results. While Head of Anesthesiology concluded that there is no reason why the patient should not have had an epidural, Patient Relations determined that Adequate care was provided.- The hospital was never able to provide any explanation as to why my stay in triage was so long and without care, and why the attending physician never made it to my delivery. The Head of Nursing simply blamed it on a systematic error, and that no individual was at fault.Based on these findings, it is clear that the hospital will not apologize or make right a situation especially if they are at fault for negligence and malpractice.

Wish I could rate them 0 stars. I had a horrible birth experience here with my wife. Ladies -- looking for an epidural? Look somewhere else; you wont get one in time for the birth. This hospital made my wife undergo excruciating pain, physical torment, and emotional damage because -- long story short -- they did not give my wife an epidural in time for the birth of our second child due purely to negligence, poor communication, and sloppy medical practice. There were mistakes across the board. First, we were treated rudely on the phone by the triage phone staff. We decided to come into the hospital because my wife was in so much pain. Then they put us in a triage room -- and left us alone! We were in triage for over an hour and a half (90+ minutes) during which time my wife was screaming for an epidural. The two or three times a person came into the room they acted like they knew nothing (or that nothing had been done) and asked So whats on the birth plan? Are you planning on an epidural? We were asked this question at least three times by three different staff in triage. When they finally got us to a room, they told us the epidural was not ready and they were waiting for the physician to arrive. In the end, the epidural was not administered, and one of the nurses was incredibly rude and unprofessional to my wife, telling her things like Keep your hands to yourself and You wouldnt like to me would you? You wouldnt lie to me would you? Unbelievable.Ultimately my wife gave birth without an epidural, and the actual doctor never bothered to show up. There was only a midwife in the room. Did I mention that they didnt even check us in to the hospital until after my baby had been born?Whats worse is that we reached out to the hospital to provide feedback on this experience (and had to keep reaching out over and over) and yet, after 3+ months we were never given a satisfactory answer as to why we were stuck in triage so long, and never received an actual apology (or other offer) from the hospital, despite our attempts to push this up to the highest level. The University and the Hospital had the chance to make it right and chose to ignore us and treat us like we dont matter -- both during the hospital experience and long after.Stay away from this hospital, ladies. You wont get your pain meds or epidural in time. Stay away.

I finally had courage to share my experience after two years of giving birth to my son at this hospital .At the time , I was a heathy 27-year-old and was carrying a healthy full-term baby with right position/vitals which was supposed to be born naturally. He was overdue and I was in the hospital to be induced . After induction, I had so much pain and went through labor until 7 fingers were open for about 5 hours. During which, I called doctor for help/epidurals and no one was responding . Later , it was found that their beeping /communication tool was broken .Finally the doctor came , as I was still pushing and all of sudden the doctor said we need an emergency c section with little explanation except the baby heart rate was dropping. I was immediately pushed into surgery room and they opened me up but later found out something might have left in my uterus. I was on the operation table for 3 hours , conscious and OPENED UP while the surgeon did the investigation/check .That was most excruciating experience I ever had .Thanks God I survived but I have lost confidence in hospital practice for child birth. It’s horrifying with zero dignity - needless to say I was and maybe still traumatized by my experience at this hospital .

I had eclampsia. My blood pressures were 210/120 - stroke and seizure level. Instead of taking me for a c-section, they refused my requests and forced me to be induced. After 3 long, painful days in hard labor with bed rest, magnesium, pitocin, a failed epidural, ignored c-section requests, manual flipping and rotation of my son, and many other “tricks,” I pushed for 4.5 hours to have my son lodged, facing upward, in my pelvis. My son’s neck was compressed and I was rushed to a c-section. I wasn’t cut the standard 4 inch incision and I hemorrhaged on the OR table. My son was in danger. I was in danger. I couldn’t stop convulsing and my son was born not breathing. He had to be resuscitated and “worked on” as the doctors say. He didn’t pass any of his apgar scores. They also forgot to check his blood sugar at birth, which happened to be dangerously low by the time a nurse was reminded to check it. My son was lethargic, severely bruised and stopped breathing multiple times 24 hours after birth. He was later rushed to the NICU. In the NICU is where I learned that my placenta was sent to pathology (without my knowledge or consent). U of M had let me labor too long - my placenta was infected from prolonged ruptured membranes, it was failing, and the gas levels in the umbilical cord where too low; therefore my son wasn’t getting adequate oxygen. After a scary NICU stay, my son was able to come home. Upon leaving the hospital on blood pressure medication, I was seeing floaters in my right eye. At my postpartum appointment I was told they were related to my blood pressure and eclampsia, and that I should follow up with my primary care doctor. My primary care confirmed it was blood pressure related. I switched medication again. And again. And again. It took months after birth for my blood pressure to finally stabilize. I thought everything had finally calmed down, until one morning in October I woke up and couldn’t see out of my right eye. My eye had hemorrhaged and my retina detached. A wonderful retina specialist performed two surgeries over the last 4 months to save my vision. Unfortunately, there was too much damage to save my eye. It is believed that my elevated blood pressures and strenuous labor caused these effects on my eyes. Before posting this I tried placing a patient complaint with U of M after my son’s birth and they essentially blamed it on my diabetes and didn’t answer my questions as to why a nurse threw out my medication and tried to say I took it after birth, overdosed my insulin and caused my sugar to severely drop resulting in needing IV d-50 (dextrose), a nurse openly admitting she didn’t know how to use the sliding scale they use to dose insulin through a drip, a nurse practitioner saying that my son stopped breathing because he must “be mad” and laughed, and a doctor threatening me that I wouldn’t be able to hold my son after birth if I didn’t follow all of their orders. U of M later sent me a letter that depicted very false information and incorrectly stated my son’s birthdate. I then moved on to lawyers, and now I just want to make everyone aware of the incidents that took place at U of M Von Voigtlanders Women’s Hospital.

The nurse was super nice at first but experience was horrendous. I waited for two plus hours to be seen even though everyone else in that lobby was seen and discharged before i even got called. I transferred from another clinic and had all my records sent WEEKS in advance but the doctor hurridly skimmed through the records when she rushed in going a million miles a minute. Then stated i had to get ALL my pregnancy tests again even though i had them done already. I told her that i had the records sent and they were done already and she actually said “theres 150 pages here and i dont have time to look through all that so were starting over.” Then when i protested she changed it up saying “oh they only sent the notes and no lab results” then i pulled up all the results on my phone through their app and she said “oh they wont accept it like that” woman its a signed lab result from the doctor! Then she did an ultrasound to look at baby and when i asked to see it she ignored me and when i asked if he was okay she stated “i dont read ultrasounds but he has a heartbeat.” SERIOUSLY? Why are you looking if you cant tell me anything!? She ignored my concerns and i had to repeat myself several times to get an answer. The nurse came in with the glucose testing drink and told me to drink it to retake the test and i told her “NO ive done it already. Why are you not gettting the results from my old doctor??” She just shrugged and stated “sorry i know it sucks”Ummm you need to do your job. I checked with both sides to make sure records were sent, not my fault you were lazy. I was scrambling on my phone trying to find results FOR them because they didnt want to look themselves. I was literally bawling my eyes out i was so frustrated and upset and they did not care at all. I feel like they only care about numbers and getting in and out. The doctor was horribly rude and uncaring even seeing me so upset. When she was leaving she just said “you understand? And do you have any other questions?” Which i finally just said “no im good” cause they werent listening anyway. Julie in consult was nice but short and the lab tech drawing blood was SUPER cool. The nurse was nice until i refused to do the glucose test, then she got cold towards me. Check out people were hardly responsive and looked as miserable as i was and also wouldnt answer questions until i repeated myself multiple times. My 5 year old acts better than these people. We will be looking elsewhere and hopefully can find a doctor in time as im 28 weeks along and need actual care

Although the delivery itself was a nice experience, the aftermath turned out to be devastating. They rushed to discharge me and my baby even though the baby was 1-month premature failing to diagnose trisomy 21 and a congenital heart disorder. Both were diagnosed months later, by a clinic outside of UoM. I don’t care about all those smiles and kindness if the hospital lets a baby go home with an undiagnosed severe genetic condition and a heart disorder. It is just not how it works in XXI century in presumably one of the best hospitals in the US.
