Recently my neurologist left, so I was transferred within the clinic. My first meeting with Dr Weintraub was extremely disappointing.I had an overdue appointment, I’ll admit that with my work and relationship commutes across the whole state most days of the week— I’ve not been the best patient. I definitely own that.I don’t however believe I should’ve been treated in a demeaning, passive aggressive, condescending manner. As a RN in a major hospital for the past 10 years I’ve met my share of attitudes, however I was very upset in this scenario because I was the patient. Horrendous bedside manner. It’s taken 7 years to get my med regimen in a fair spot for my daily constant headaches, I felt judged for some of the medications he felt were contradictory, and without having the chance to explain myself or be heard. I have a long story of how I got to where I am that he didn’t even care to ask!I tried to explain another reason why my appointment was overdue (previously my virtual appointment I waited on the phone for 2 hours for and never received a call back). I then decided to reschedule in person; for I knew I would have labwork which was expensive out of the office with covid restrictions.I received multiple statements throughout the appointment such as “So you drove all this way to get your labs done…. I’ll get out of your way so you can get what you want done”I was in tears after he left the office. I now understand why some nurses seem so stressed there. After 7 years at MHNI I sadly will not be back.

Recently I started experience symptoms of sleep apnea again and made an appointment with Dr. Weintraub’s office. That’s where the problems started. I called to make an appointment, was put on hold for several minutes, transferred to a nurse then back to the scheduler and in the process was disconnected. I was then told to have my CPAP supplier fax the last 90 days of my usage, which I did and got conformation they had. I then showed up for my appointment and found his office, dark and dingy with self-made medical signs on the walls that had spelling errors in them. After 40 minutes, Dr. Weintraub came into the room, looked irritated, annoyed and began chastising me for not coming in yearly and said my CPAP supplier hadn’t sent in my usage report. He said his office had called my supplier who was in the process of faxing my usage over. I tried telling him he told me only come back if there was a problem, he denied it and kept talking right over me.Eventually he got my usage report and continued to complain about how I hadn’t followed his orders by coming in yearly to see him and how it was unbelievable that my insurance accepted my primary doctor’s prescription. He then looked at my usage report and said my AHI’s showed I was doing fine. I told him I came in to see if I could have my CPAP prescription adjusted to allow it to function on automatic instead of the prescribed pressure. Dr. Weintraub in his continued frustrated, condescending tone told me he had nothing to do with the equipment and to just tell my CPAP supplier to change it, and if they didn’t just tell them he said it was okay. He literally then got up and walked out of the examine room and told us to go to the counter and check out. The appointment took about an hour.It doesn’t end there. We get to the checkout counter and my wife asks the clerk behind the counter where the bathroom is. The checkout clerk answers with a head nod and in a snarky tone “It’s over there”, to which my wife asks “where?” The clerk then rolls her eyes and says “BY THE DOOR”. The clerk then said to me, “it will be $178.00”. I tell her I didn’t have a procedure and it was only an office visit and my co-pay is $10.00. She then tells me, “Oh no its not, because you haven’t met your deductible, it’s only January”. I’m shocked. I tell her to double check my insurance. She doesn’t, but looks sheepish and said they’ll take $10 for today and bill me for the rest if necessary. I can tell you I’m not one to complain. I work in customer service and I would normally side on the company, but this was by far the worse medical experience I’ve ever had.

The staff and doctors here have been professional, caring and effective. The treatment plan was discussed and I agreed and understood everything that was being done. After suffering from headaches for my entire life, I am finally getting relief. 98 percent of my headaches are gone with the treatments perscribed.

I really love Dr Weintraub. He has a dry sense of humor but I would not want to see anyone else. He has gotten hy headaches under control and for that I am forever grateful! He is very strict with his patients and makes you come every three months which is a bit difficult since I live 6 hours away but I do it because he is great!

In the last couple of years, my patient/doctor relationship with Dr. Weintraub has improved greatly. I am much more comfortable interacting with him. This is mainly due to Dr. Weintraub and his sincere caring attitude. My experience and treatment at MHNI is very positive. I have recommended MHNI and Dr. Weintraub on numerous occasions. It has been much help now that many insurances are accepted.

I have suffered headaches for over 12 years. For 12 years Connecticut doctors have been unable to diagnose where my head pain was coming from. It honestly took the doctors at MHNI literally two and a half minutes to find that my head pain was not originating in my head at all, but was coming from my neck. The doctors and the entire staff at MHNI are UNBELIEVABLE and have given me my life back. They all will always and forever be in my heart, thoughts and prayers.

Dr. Weintraub helped create the foundation of a treatment plan, which put me on the path to get rid of headaches that I struggled with for over five years.
