Cant give a 0. They have lost my sons records. No communications with their own offices. They really dont care about their patients. Your just a number to them. Takes forever to schedule a appointment. Only place that excepts medicade anymore. So sorry if this is your only option.

Dentist Krunal Punjabi was great in extracting my tooth, however the office staff is clueless. I explained three times to them that my insurance requires me to pay my bill and sent the receipt to my insurance company for payment, but they insisted on sending the bill to my insurance company instead. I called that afternoon to ask what the charges were for their service and was told that they could not tell me for 24 hours. I called again yesterday and today. They kept repeating the msg that they were busy and someone would answer, which is what usually happens when I call. I pressed 1 to get a call back. Someone did call back which surprised me because I did that same thing yesterday and no one called. I asked what the charge was for their service and was told that it was $1200.00. That is price gouging for simply extracting one tooth. I told the person that I was going to contact the BBB and the Iowa Attorney General about their charge. The person told me that someone from billing would give me a call back. I wish I had read their reviews prior to making an appointment.UPDATE 5/3/2021 The office manager called me today and assured me that my insurance company would pay 100% of my bill. I will believe that after I see the claim has been paid using my online application to my insurance. The office manager was very nice and asked who told me that the bill was $1200. I told her that I didnt know their name. At any rate, I am hoping that what she told me is true, but I dont think it is.

First patient visit with my 11yo step-daughter. Scheduled an appointment 2 weeks out and we arrived early to fill out paperwork. After waiting nearly 25 minutes from our original appointment time the office manager comes into the patient room where we are waiting to inform me that I have to prove I can sign for my kid and without paperwork Ill have to reschedule.This is after 2 weeks prior they knew who would be bringing her, after we waited 25 minutes in the lobby and had filled out paperwork, copied my ID when we arrived as well as insurance cards (one which even lists myself...)They wasted our time pulling our very nervous and anxious, nail biting 11yo out of school to have a consult for braces in below zero temperatures. Further caused problems with not only anxiety, but added fuel to the youre not my parent fire doing this in front of her and now she doesnt even want to go back because she felt they were rude and shes scared they dont know what they are doing because they arent nice people. The child is scared of this office. Told the office manager this was unacceptable and we will be seeking alternate care options.

My daughter goes to the orthodontist here. Him and his team are nice and professional. He takes the time to explain the process each time we go with thoroughness and asks if I have any questions. Ive never had a problem as long as weve been coming here. Id definitely recommend him.

A-1 Dental in Ankeny is great and they have the best staff and Drs especially Dr. Song, he has helped me restore most of all my teeth and helped me feel better. Yes it takes a long time, however, being patient with them has been the best way to path of recovery. Maggie has done very well assisting me in getting appointments and getting me in the office when I have time. Great job, A-1 Iowa Dental! Keep up the great work you have done and will do in the future. Very happy!

Only got 1 star because you cant click 0!! Made me wait 3 weeks with an absessed tooth only to be told he is not qualified to do an extraction. Then referred me to an oral surgeon halfway across the state. I called 8n at 1pm and did not get a call back until 5pm (when everything was closed

Got a fillings done in my tooth which was painless experience ever i had in my life.I was out of the office in timely manner. I bring my kids here for their braces every month, they love this place and gets excited to see their orthodontist.My heartfelt gratitude to all at A1 iowa dental.

We took our daughter here for braces, and her teeth were a total mess. She just had them removed today after about 3yrs and wow how incredible they look. The staff and Dr here are great!! My daughter is super picky about Dr. and dentist in an awful way, and she has loved the staff here witch was so nice for mom and dad. Thanks A-1

Very beautiful after braces .

If I could give zero stars, I would.Dr Song and his staff royally messed up my teeth. My regular dentists, whom I went back to even though they don’t take Medicaid, says I will have permanent pain and sensitivity on my 2 fillings. He also said that the 6 places that Dr Song wanted to do more fillings on, were just dark spots that needed cleaned. Their “cleanings” consist of just looking at the teeth, a super fast grazing of the polish and flossing.. 5 minutes in all. My regular dentist DID NOT believe me that I had a cleaning a few weeks before.These people do not care about you or your teeth. They just want the insurance money.

I had an excellent experience with adult braces here and would continue all services through this office had I not moved for medical residency. As a fourth year medical student with a tight schedule and many demands, the staff was ALWAYS pleasant and unbelievably accommodating even when I would call them over and over having to constantly changing my appointment because my schedule would change. Dr. Padre was excellent. He was quick and efficient but if I ever had a question (which was always), he would listen intently and address the concern and make certain I was happy with the results. I was worried about having braces as an adult but this office could not have made it any less of a bother. I love my teeth and was so happy I did it!

A 1920s dentist would give you a better experience than A-1 Dental. They royally messed up my husbands teeth and mine. To say their dentist is worse than a medieval dentist is being polite. Save yourself the pain and do NOT go here!

Scheduling is a disaster. I have had my phone number completely removed from their system twice and still receive phone calls. They will call multiple times harassing you to schedule dental work even if you have braces and cant receive the dental work they want you to schedule... office manager does not understand the difference between fsa and hsa accounts. The call center they use is horrible and not understandable. Dr. Goel is an awesome orthodontist and actually cares about his patient care. The assistants are great as well. Which is the only reason I still go there.

Reading these reviews makes me sick. I had never had a trust problem with dentists, nor had I ever had a cavity. I first went here 1.5 years ago and was told I had 8 cavities. 8!!!! I (in the course of 3 appointments) got 6 of the “8” filled. I could feel them drilling into my gums the last time I went and the pain was horrid. I had no pain prior to getting these “cavities” filled and following my mouth hurt for months. I didn’t get the last two filled and was terrified to go back. After a year of avoiding the dentist I panicked because one of those fillings fell out leaving an even bigger issue. I finally found a decent dentist whom just cleared my infection and fixed my tooth. But I also learned that my teeth, minus my other fillings, and needing a cleaning are just fine. A-1 has also tried to claim I have came in for a cleaning within the last 6 months when I haven’t been there in over a year. I’m turning them in for insurance fraud and plan on seeking legal action for the damages done. This Dentist office deserves no stars.

My daughter had braces put on there and they are amazing. The staff is awesome and the Dr who has worked with her is awesome. She got her braces done in April and they are coming off at the end of August

WORST CLINIC EVER. I came here to get a tooth pulled. The dentist did not want to pull it for whatever reason and recommended a root canal. Also recommended two fillings. I accepted. He was quite rough. Pulling my head side to side to better accommodate his needs rather than my comfort. Kept saying, “bite, bite, bite” rather than telling me that I actually need to bite as I would with my mouth resting so as to ensure proper mold of my filling. I didn’t know this is what he was doing until a month later. I know fillings cause sensitivity and pain for several weeks afterwards. But after 3 weeks I was feeling a pain like no other. It’s like he drilled into my tooth to do two fillings but only did one. (I cannot see the other one)I went back on the day HE told me to come because it was a day that he could take the time for the root canal. I arrived early as usual for me. My appointment was for 4:15pm. I sat in a dental chair until 5:30pm before the doctor comes over to acknowledge me. ( I watched half a basketball game and the entire Ellen Show) He tells me he won’t have time to do the root canal today and that he won’t be able to do it for another month. I tell him, I waited 3 weeks from my initial visit and now would have to wait a month longer. Why would you tell me what day and time to come and then make me wait over an hour and then tell me you couldn’t do it? I was/am so mad! I can only eat with my front 4-5 teeth which you aren’t supposed to only use those- and I’m in severe pain. He told me he would give me a numbing gel to help with pain. (He never did)The facility is dirty. Well designed but very dusty/hairy. My first visit, there was hair and visible dirt on the equipment such as the lighting, spit sink, etc. the second visit I got the same chair and the same piece of hair was in the same place in the sink. (I pay attention to detail) (3 weeks passed and no one cleaned it) These should have been signs that I wouldn’t be happy with the results of this place.They don’t answer your questions very well and act like you’re a bother to them. The front office people are nice but the doctors and assistants that I dealt with were a nightmare. If you care about yourself and your wellbeing- DO NOT GO HERE. FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Our experience was very good! They were treating us very well. all of the times we went there we came back with a smile. Staff is kindly and friendly. we feel comfortable there.

Staff could use better communication skills with each other. I was quoted one price for braces and was told something totally different at my daughters appointment. Other than that, I loved Podray because he was straight forward with everything and didnt sugarcoat my daughters treatment.

Dr. Podrey is great at making you feel comfortable and at ease. Getting adult braces is never easy, but he made the process seamless. I highly recommend A1 Dental!

First call to their office today and the lady attending the phone was rude

Very bad customer service and dentist availability. They change policies or enforce policies as they see fit. I can run an errand while my childs at a routine orthodontia checkup one day, but not the next. When Im out of town and have an older sibling take him in, they refuse to see him.Ive never had an office refuse to see their 16 year old patients who drive themselves to their appointments (my older child did that when she had routine checkups and we never had an issue), but they will. Apparently, the dentist we were seeing only flies in from Pennsylvania every 2 weeks, so if you have to reschedule or theres an urgent issue, it takes another 2-4 weeks to get in. Even though there are 2 dentists there, they will only see their own patients. If a bracket or wire comes loose and your dentist isnt in, the other will not fix the problem. If it were a day or 2, thatd be understandable, not 2 weeks or more. I have changed orthodontists due to all these issues. Its worth the extra money out of my pocket not to have to continue to deal with them. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

If I could give them negative stars I would. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had at the dentist. They were extremely rough, everyone was rude and looked miserable. I felt like they were pumping out people as quickly as possible. I didnt even have the opportunity to ask questions before they were telling me to leave. I needed to get a release form signed and the email they sent me stated Hello,as per our telephonic conversations, find attached form for you to sign.plz resend this, duly signed, alongwith a copy of your photo ID.. Extremely unprofessional and they still proceeded to send me the wrong information after I called to follow up again. I could go on...what a horrible experience.

The whole place was pretty sketchy, they were training at least 2 different nurses same day and there was not a sole in the place which should of been a sign. They did the X-rays and cleaning then doctor Song came to do his exam. He asked if I wanted to get fillings done, and made one of the nurses show me prices first and sell me in getting 2 teeth fixed which was awkward. Then if yes wasn’t good enough they had to take me up front first, meaning get out of the seat and pay before they could do the work which seamed really sketchy. I called insurance co after and they told me it should not of been handled that way and I should of paid a co pay which I didn’t and 20% of the work. Pretty sure I over paid!

I have had a good experience with A-1 dental so far. I got my braces on the first appointment, and they were happy to answer all of my questions. All of the employees are nice, funny, and friendly. I highly recomend this place for you if you need braces.

Dr Song is a terrible dentist and should have his ability to practice revoked. The staff is terrible. Ever gotten a mouth full a bleach and had to beg them to get it out of your mouth? I hadnt until I came here. Ive had Dr. Quack song even try to argue with me about whether or not Im leaving the clinic and finding somewhere else. The staff and doctors dont care about their patients, just the green paper you bring with you. NEVER GET A FILING OUT ROOT CANAL HERE.

If I could give 0 stars I would. My sons appointments were rescheduled by the office over and over again. Both times we went here the appointments were rescheduled twice each. My son was in pain and they were aware....yet they kept rescheduling his appointments so that the dentist could take long weekends.

I waited over an hour an a half for my appointment. They were in no hurry. They told me I need 6 cavities. Then I made an appointment for that and had a different dentist who said I didnt have any cavities.

Id give 0 stars if that was an option. My daughter has had her braces on for about 6 months and I can not recall a single appointment that was on time, we have been lied to more then once, the front staff can be very rude, and unknowledgeable. Most recently my daughters bands snapped off on a Saturday and caused the wire to stab, poke, and incrediblely uncomfortable to eat. There was no emergency number or protocol in place and the best they could do was set an appointment up on that Wednesday. (are you kidding me!?) Also, told me that if she was to uncomfortable, I could try to cut it out myself....because she ( dental assistant) was not allowed to? I then said, fine can you give me the tool to cut it myself? She replied No, I cant do that either ... I took her to her dentist office where they made it more comfortable until Wednesday. Ive never had such a horrible experience with a doctors office.

My first experience at A1 Dental was at the Urbandale location. And it was the worst dental experience of my life. I transferred to their Ankeny office and I cant say enough good things about their staff and service. Dr Song is amazing. He listens to all your concerns and addresses those concerns. He explains what he’s about to do and what to expect. His number one concern is that your comfortable. I’ve read many reviews on here and I myself had a very long one about my experience at the Urbandale location I have since deleted only because I was still very upset and crying when I wrote it. They don’t deserve even 1 star. It’s beyond bad service. It was more like unnecessary torture. She yelled at me and her assistant the whole time. Sadly I see I’m not the only one. Unfortunately some reviews don’t state which office. The Ankeny office staff is amazing. All the assistants are very nice and they have even said to me how much they like working with Dr Song. At the Urbandale clinic the young ladies there are very rude and walk around mad. From the moment you sit in the chair you hear her yelling at them. Being very hostile with her staff. It’s no wonder they seem sad and angry. The staff at the Ankeny office love working with Dr Song. All though they are super busy he takes his time and does it right. If you have any complaints he will do his best to address them. I chose the Urbandale clinic because it was close to home. But I don’t mind the drive to Ankeny at all. Lisa S

Very disorganized & over an hour behind schedule. No phone call to let us know. The dentist on staff didnt fix the chipped tooth I brought my daughter in for but kept saying come back. After 2 visits I took her somewhere else & they found a cavity that he missed & thankfully fixed the tooth that he didnt fix in the 1st place.

I wouldnt take my pets here one they reuse tools there where teeth marks all over the XRay pease that they put in your mouth the gal cut my mouth not once but twice. I was told that I had to call and set up my own appointment for oral surgeon. I called the number they gave me and Im told that the dentist should be setting up the appointment. Nothing but a big joke. Stuff was rude and disrespectful the dentist is only has down that 2 teeth need to come out but its 3 he said the one is a big cavity when the whole tooth is broke off. Not happy about the service at all...

Called several times to update insurance information and make an appointment. The staff had an excuse for me to call back three times, the fourth time I was hung up on and the fifth time they wanted to give me an email address to send the insurance information to. Multiple days and hours wasted on being told wrong information. Worst place ever to deal with.

If you want to get braces, I really recommend this place and Dr. Podray, he and the staff are very polite and professional. My case was probably one of the hardest one where I had under bite and my 2 lateral teeth were too big and they were also behind the central teeth but Dr. Podray and his incredible stuff did fix my teeth and now Im really happy with my smile. Thank you A1 Iowa Dental and Dr. Podray!

Dont deserve any stars. I got their number through my issurance that i just switched over to and i called them and explained my emergency tooth ache and they made me an appt the very next day. Which was great. They just switched their office to des moines, ia at 4730 sw 9th st. I was coming from ames. So i made sure i left earlier to make sure i wasnt late. My appt was at 9 a.m. but i wasnt seen til bout 10 a.m. so im sitting there in so much pain. I finally get to the back in they made me bite down on the item they use to do the xrays which made my teeth ache more. Finally see the dentist and he puts more pressure on my teeth and i went through all that traveling and pain for nothing. He tells me i have a decay and thats what was causing my pain but he also sees 2 other teeth that needed to be pulled so he told me he needs to send me to iowa city, which will take another month or more to get into, so they can pull all 3 together. I asked him why he cant just pull the one that was hurting me and i would get the other 2 taken care of in a few weeks. He caught an attitude and told me that was his opinion so therefore hes sticking by that and wont do anything for me. He did this in front of his staff. I read a review after my appt, which was a waste of drive and time, that they should have known better cause when they got there it was empty. Yeah same here. It felt deserted. Like i was in the twilight zone. Never will go back. I will keep looking. DONT GO THERE. Very rude. The staff isnt that friendly either.

Terrible service terrible products. terribly unsatisfied. told that i needed crowns. on a second opinion it was recommended that all my teeth be removed. dr song at A1 dental wanted to put crowns on them. i also waited two hours past my appointment time on two different occasions.

Deserves 0 stars, had to wait 40 minutes, the doctor was rude (Dr song) was rough and poked my gums and made them bleed with the tooth, didnt even clean the plaque off of my teeth, told my they were clean enough, then when they did the cleaning the dental assistant burnt my lip with the tool. Super sketchy place, everyone was rude besides one front desk worker that seems new.

Would give 0 stars of given the option. I scheduled an appt for my daughter on March 14th to come in to the office on Saturday April 22nd at 8:15 am. Google says they dont even open til 9 am on Saturdays so we waited in the parking lot for almost an hour til they were suppose to open up. Waited til 9:10 am and NO-ONE showed up to open at 9. NEVER again will i try to take my kids here. They are very unprofessional and never even called me to tell me that they needed me to reschedule or anything. DO NOT waste your time at this place.

The receptionist is very rude. She puts me in hold for a long time. I call back and she does it over and over. Shes snottty . Im in pain and needed a different appointment cuz something came up, she never called me back. Ill never go there again.

I am giving this 2 stars only because of Dr. Padre. He has been the only one that has been very understanding with my daughters and I. We moved from out of state and because I cant afford to keep their braces going and the insurance wont pay for them, the office was going to do an appeal to get them off. The front desk and the new manager Phusia have pushed my button, they do not keep in contact at ALL! I called once from the last time I spoke to them over a month ago to see the status, and left message never once got a call back. Then I call today and ask for the manager and she states yes she is right here, well after she asks my name, all of a sudden she is in a meeting and will call me back later today. I know that Phusia doesnt like me because one time we spoke she was very rude to me and I work in the medical field and I know all about HIPAA and she didnt like that I brought that to her attention. If I dont receive a call back today, I will be contacting someone regarding the communication I receive and the way this office is ran. I will also be contact Dr. Padre. I will have to say I am very nice person, but this office has made me actually very mad. One instance was I had a neighbor bring in my daughters, called Phusia she said yes they can come in and I can fax over my ID and a letter with her name on it. I faxed it that morning maybe 10 at the latest, well my friend took kids around 4 pm I believe, I am getting a call from my 11 year old daughter stating that they wont see them. I tell her to put my friend on, my friend said they are being very rude and I told her I faxed a paper this morning after talking to manager, she told them, and low and behold right next to them in the fax machine was the paperwork. So you telling me they dont check it all day?Well now that I have gotten how I feel about this place, I have just received a call from Phusia, she states, we have received their pre-auth to remove braces and you are scheduled on April 11. I said thats the soonest, well doctor is out for 2 weeks and that is the day he is returning. I really like the doctor, but after this is over, I will look elsewhere due to his staff.

Wait times are horrible. If I showed up 45minutes late they wouldnt see me, but they can be as delayed as they want! What is the point in scheduling a 10am appt to be seen at 11?

Im currently a student and I have state sponsored insurance. The people here acted like I was poor trash and I would never be able to fix a few of my teeth, so their solution for any of my problems was to pull the teeth, which I refused.Complete boneheads. Dentist didnt even know what the temporary fillings in two of my teeth were.
