They killed my Nanny. She probably wasnt the easiest patient, but they isolated her and with that a UTI went unnoticed and untreated until she was sent to the hospital and was in septic shock. By then her body was too weak to handle the antibiotics and now shes in hospice. They are mean and neglected to care for my Nan who was a FULL FUCNCTIONING person before she went to Atria. If you love your elders do not send them here.

This past year I have been caring for my Mom in our family home until she landed in the hospital with an infection.. the Case Manager advised me to place Mom into Atria Marland and I am so glad that we made that change. Mom is thriving now in her health and she enjoys the social community. She was missing out on so much at our family home and Atria Marland has been a great new place for her. Thank you to the staff and team for everything so far !

My mother moved into Atria Marland Place about three years ago. The overall experience has been positive. I have been specifically impressed with the Engage Life Director, Mary Mazza. Marys enthusiasm and work ethic is excellent. My mother tends to like to be by herself, and does not seek to be social or engage in activities, and Mary has been instrumental in encouraging her to participate and stay active in weekly events. She has also been very attentive to my familys requests as pertains to my mothers needs. Marland place is lucky to have Mary on their team.

Very grateful for the ED and staff who have supported our family through my father’s decline and recent death, and my mother’s current decline. During this very tricky time of Covid, Marland Place management and staff have shown us so much compassion and accommodation.Marland Place is one of the few assisted livings that has allowed for safe, scheduled visits since March of 2019. While there were periods when indoor visits werent possible, Marland Place worked creatively to provide safe ways to visit outdoors. Throughout the pandemic, they have demonstrated an understanding that the safety of residents and staff has to be balanced with residents social - emotional needs and the need for real - time connection. So many of my friends have had to rely on window visits and FaceTime only since last March. We have been so fortunate to have had opportunities to see our parents and I will be forever grateful to Marland Place for this.

I am blessed everyday that my dad is member of the Marland Place community. From the moment I met Nick for a tour, I knew this would be a wonderful place for my parents to live. Each staff member is always kind, thoughtful and completely respectful of the needs of each resident. I learned quickly that as people age, their personalities can make things challenging at times. The staff is always mindful of each individual and go above and beyond to meet their needs emotionally and physically. The goal at Marland Place is to make certain that your loved ones are given exceptional care at all times. My mom passed away last year and the staff has been wonderful supporting my dad and I during this very difficult time. It is comforting to know that my dad is safe and can call for help or support when he needs it.The food is delicious!! There is a wide variety of selections on the menu for people to choose from. There are many activities offered to the residents each day. There is something for everyone. In conclusion, if you are looking for a superb, high quality Assisted Living facility, for a loved one, I urge you to visit Atria Marland Place.

At the young age of 90 my mom made Atria Marland Place her new home. From the very first day, she has flourished here. She has made multiple friends and enjoyed countless activities. Everyone who works here couldnt be kinder to her. It has been a blessing to know my mom is both safe and happy as she enters this next phase of her life.Cathy W.

Both my parents have lived at atria Marland place for a little over a year and it has been life changing for them !! The staff is wonderful, the food is excellent, the social life they have is busier than mine. My parents happen to take part in a lot of activities there but the beauty of Marland place is that’s it’s up to you how much you want to participate. The great thing also is how they involve the residents families in a lot of events. The best part is we all have piece of mind knowing they’re safe and happy !!

My Mom and Dad moved to Marland Place a year ago and it has been all positive. They participate in many of the activities and love the variety Marland has to offer. The staff have all been wonderful. They are so caring and compassionate and always look out for the well being and safety of the residents. We now have peace of mind that they are in a safe place and being well cared for.

My father has been a resident for almost 18 months. He is almost 96 years young and except for being on medication management, he is still very independent, of sound mind and pretty active. He seems content and is enjoying living there. I can honestly say that I have not heard a negative comment or complaint from him during the time he has been there; nor have I had a sense of his not wanting to return at any time. For myself, I have had only positive interactions with the staff and they all treat my father with respect and consideration. Earlier in the year, he did have a couple of emergency health situations due to his diabetes and the staff acted quickly and very responsively to get him help. I always found the RSD and the nurses to be communicative and attentive so I do believe that my father is getting the attention that we hope for when needed. I cant give five stars because when we first moved in my father; I felt that during that day one, we were not given a proper orientation regarding the facility itself, the workings of the dining room, and a proper introduction in terms of who is who of the staff and their relevance for my fathers benefit. That first day or so, I felt like we were floundering a bit and left to figure things out as we went along. Otherwise, so far so good!

We moved my mother-in-law in about six months ago. The staff -David ( Director), Mary ( Activities and Social Life) and Nick (Sales and 2nd in Command), and Stephen (Maintenance) have been attentive and responsive to our needs. Whats more impressive is that the majority of the staff (house keeping, nursing, maintenance, dining services) have been thoughtful and caring - going beyond standard service to be sensitive to the specific needs of the seniors who live there. We continue to make special requests to try to make my Mother in Law happy and to adjust to her new residence, and Marland Place continues to deliver excellent service.

To say Atria Marland Place is incompetent is an understatement. Not sure what the staff nurse does other than know how to call an ambulance. My mother cut her finger that a simple bandage would take care of but they wanted to send her to the hospital. Upon entry our attorney advised to have a DNH because “that place calls an ambulance for everything”. I should have listened to my instincts and avoided this place, but they do a good job of selling you their empty promises of a caring environment and honest competent staff. Management takes no responsibility for the actions of their employees and shift the blame to the family. Do you due diligence and check out other places they are not the only assisted living in town.

My husband and I moved to Atria Marland Place from another facility almost three years ago. It was the best move we ever made—marvelous food, amiable residents, helpful staff and a great location.I love to read and found two well-stocked libraries whose books are periodically updated with popular best-sellers by Mary Mazza. But the best amenity by far, as far as I’m concerned, is the Pub, the most popular spot at Marland. It’s a friendly, welcoming, joyful place to have supper every night. A place for pals to gather and socialize. It’s like going out to dinner every night. And since my husband has passed away recently, it’s a godsend.I believe I have given my children the gift of peace of mind by being at Marland Place. They don’t have to worry about my safety or my social life. And we can get together frequently for family get-togethers in the private dining room.

What happened to this place? My aunt had been there over 3 years when the care level and compassion dropped drastically. Their every changing management team finally got the right combination of heartless, money grubbing individuals to make sure that anyone who needs extra care will be evicted. Most advanced dementia patients will eventually be unable to feed themselves. That is no longer part of Marland’s care. Without even informing the family the aids are no longer allowed to help feed those who cannot feed themselves. They expect either the family to feed their loved one or hire outside help. To quote the executive director “this is a business”. They should be ashamed!

My sister is a resident at Marland place. She receives outstanding care and compassion from all. I adore all the employees, but I must mention Mary Mazza. Mary sits with the residents at lunch, crafts etc. asking if theyre happy with the meal, and craft they would like to do. Mary greets all with a smile! She aims to please!

If I could give them 0 stars I would. The memory care floor is completely incompetent for anyone who needs extra care. The resident service director makes up rules as she fits.My mom had a Saturday evening outburst. They called me and said I had to come in or she’d be sent to the hospital because she “hit someone”. When I got there the story changed, she had shoved the aide. After I had her calm and in bed, I was told I either needed to hire 72 hours of one on one care or “send her out”. “So, I could either wake her up and take her out or hire someone to do your job?” I was told it was their new policy. 5 months later I never received it in writing. When I met with management to discuss the incident, the story changed again to she had ”aggressively pushed” an aide. I asked to see the film which, DG, their “yes man” said “we’ll get it for you”. Of course they didn’t have it.After this incident I heard my mom was on resident director’s list to get rid of. What do you know almost everyone on the rumored list are gone. Anyone who needs extra care is pushed out under the new management who more concerned with bonuses than care.6 sets of hearing aids lost in 16 months. 2 months ago, they lost my mom’s dentures. I bet they’d pay more attention if held liable.Don’t believe anything they tell you during the tour. This is not a forever home for your loved one. If you need extra help, they will find a way to get rid of you. Nursing does not exist on the memory care floor. Someone from the second floor may come up. If extra medicine is needed, including a Tylenol, the family member must drive in. They have a nurse but they will not distribute medicine. Even phone authorization doesn’t help. It’s “their policy”Complain to DG the executive director he’ll lie to your face. Question the competence of the weekend staff. “Oh she only works every other Sunday”. Ask why there are so few aides (under state regulation), he’ll tell you someone called in sick. The food is cold and why are you serving dementia residents chicken with skin on a bone. The culinary director is being replaced (for the 2nd time in a year). It’s constant turnover. Who hires these people? Maybe they should be replaced! It took mt too long to move my mom because I thought it would be traumatic for her and I believed the empty promises of management. Don’t make the same mistake. Be wary of 5 stars reviews. I guarantee a few are employees. Look at their names.Avoid this place at all cost!

OVERWHELMING INCOMPETENCE THROUGHOUT. TOTAL LACK OF COMPASSION/RESPECT FOR RESIDENTS. Wanting to take a friend/resident to our 40th high school reunion, I called two weeks in advance and spoke to life guidance, who had me first speak w/my friend to give her all the details. Life guidance person then directed me to speak w/the office as I would need to get approval from the residents sister. I immediately called the office and was told that they would contact the sister and have the sister call me directly. Six days later when I still had not heard back, I called asking to speak w/life guidance and was told that she wasnt in that day. So, I called life guidance the next day and left a voice message saying I was very concerned that my friend would be waiting for me to take her at the appropriate time, but I still had not gotten approval...and to please call me. When I had still not received a call back two days later, I called and asked to speak with the office. I was transferred to someone yelling DINING ROOM. What? What? I cant hear you over the construction. (Sigh) Having had enough, I then called back and asked to speak w/the Director, who took down all info in a so soothing voice, apologized for what had transpired and said hed get back to me w/an answer by the end of day. NOTHING, EVER....NO CALL BACK FROM EVEN THE DIRECTOR! Three days later, I had not choice but to go to the reunion w/out my friend, as I had never received permission to take her...although I had attempted to many times within a two week period and spoken to people from all care levels, including DIRECTOR. Who is the first person I saw AT the reunion? My friend ...accompanied by an aid. Sadly, the aid told me that my friend was telling everyone that I was picking her up to go to the reunion. The aid said no one knew anything about this, so she contacted the sister who said she would be thrilled for her sister to go to the reunion and she shouldnt miss it. The sister had never been contacted previously....despite all of my efforts/requests.

My Dad has been at Marland for almost two years. It has not been emotionally easy for him, but there are two people who can always make him smile: Guy Ferranti and Mary Mazza. Guy brings joy, laughter, music, and a tender heart wherever he goes. Mary works hard at knowing the interests of each individual resident, and tries to tailor activities to those interests, all with good humor and high energy. Five stars for Guy and Mary! I also want to commend the daily caregivers; their job is not an easy one, but they are are, for the most part, gentle, willing and able. They call everyone by name, even in passing in the hallways, and always have a smile; in particular, Karen Sheldon seems to be a most competent and caring leader among them. Alisha Pascucci (the nurse) has been extremely helpful to Dad, and to all of Dads family. Thank you to all!

He is a joy to work with.

I have a loved one who has been at Marland Place Andover MA for about 7 years. It was her choice from the begining over the many retirement places we looked at together. The primary person in charge sets the standard for the community and she was supperior. All of her succesors are also. As my love one has grown older, Marland Places care for her has increased with consistant attentiveness. She loves her clean and ample size room which has a great view of the mill river. And she is always out and about on the Main Street visiting. She has been very at home and contented here.
