My wife & I move to Anderson SC two years ago from upstate NY. We belonged to a over crowed YMCA there. It was quite expensive. We were both working at the time. The hours we attended activities were always going on and areas were closed for special events. So we were limited to what we could do. There were only two locker rooms , men’s & womens. Kids run amuck with little supervision. The Anderson facility is Beautiful and so far we have not run into over crowed areas. Of coarse we are retired and can adjust our schedule to go at a Quieter time. Staff has been friendly facility is clean. Most seem to follow guidelines to wiping equipment down. I would have rated 5 stars my only complaint is men’s locker has a strong body oder smell and the rest of the Facility is fresh and clean. I know it’s a gym locker room but something should be done.

The athletic director does not return emails regarding sign ups for sports. The CEO does not return phone calls after a legitimate complaint was established! To be labeled a Christian organization...........not very Christlike at all!!!!

My son has participated in 3 sports seasons now and loves it. They do a great job even amidst COVID. My husband uses the weight training facility daily and has used the child watch provided and has been happy with both.

We’ve members of the Anderson YMCA since 2018, and we’re so happy because the friendly staff, the equipment, and the environment in general. We return to the Y last week after weeks of being closed due to the pandemic, and we feel very safe because we’re able to maintain our distance and the equipment is constantly cleaned.

Been a member of the Anderson area Ymca since 2006. It’s where both of my sons learned how to swim. I never signed them up for lessons, they just learned from all of our afternoon visits. My niece did take lessons and the instructors were very nice and patient with her. My sons enjoyed all the sports over the years, all the coaches were nice. My son was even lucky to have one of his school teachers as his coach. I prefer it over other gyms because of the family atmosphere. I don’t use the daycare but when my sons were little I would leave them for an hour. Plus later they installed a kids exercise area, which is nice. The Y is one of my favorite places to go in Anderson.

I really love to go here to exercise on a daily basis. I work out with the seniors. It is a little lower paced than regular classes. They have a weight room with just equipment that the seniors use to work out for every part of the body. Their are many other weight rooms for every level of fitness. The Y offer classes in Aerobics, dance and other slow intermediate, and high paced. They also have a swimming pool. Hot and cold. And many classes for water aerobics too. It is worth all the money you put I to it.

This is the nicest YMCA Ive belonged too. One of the largest indoor pools, many class rooms for different exercises, large overhead track, spacious free weight room, cycle room, cross fit room, racquetball room, etc. The only negative is the price but to get quality and professionalism youre going to have to pay. But I didnt mind paying the cost for my wife and I for the quality of the facility. This Y is apart of the community and I was glad to be apart of this place. Best part of Anderson.

LOVE this Y!!! We just joined and we are loving our time here. Classes are exceptional, with knowledgeable instructors who really care. Clean facility with many things to do. Totally worth the price for all the classes and equipment at this facility. We will be members forever.

I know the covid-19 is still a major problem right now. But if the y is not going to allow visitors in the building the post it on the door. Not everyone can afford the membership price and its not right to basically kick people out and/or denie them access to the building because they dont have and/or dont want a membership

The YMCA was originally established to be there and help families though many now see it as a high dollar facility. I can say though employees there still have this mission, especially program director for after child development Jan Page. She has been wonderful to my husband and I after a suprise taking of two children and the support she has helped with. Child care wise and financially from the institution.

Very nice facility, 2 heated indoor pools plus an outdoor pool, full complement of workout equipment, indoor and outside walking track, and a vast array of training and advisory services. It might seem a bit pricey to some, but it far exceeds any such facility in the area. My wife and I have Silver Sneakers as part of our Medicare plan, so its free for us. Any senior should check out their insurance, many have Silver Sneakers and dont know it.

Its really not that great. The people who work there have a certain smugness that is insulting. Especially the kids who are still in high school. It takes everything in me not to take off my belt and do what their parents neglected to do. The staff can be unpleasant and unnecessarily intrusive. And lets face it, the cost of a membership is ridiculous. It is a nonprofit, it gets every grant there is, so why is a membership for a family almost $1000 for the year? That is asinine. Why does it cost so much for a membership but the weight equipment is old, or there isnt enough to go around? I got the summer package but I assure you that is all the money you will get out of me. - CA

Anderson YMCA is such a warm and friendly place to work out and swim. The staff and the members are warm and welcoming. They have a wide variety of classes in the pools and out - something for just about everyone from young kids to us seniors who get a little creaky at times. The members seem to be just normal folks - not a room full of workout rats - all with a smile and a giggle for anyone new who needs to ask questions. My advice is to join and go get yourself started on a fitness goal, start small but keep going! There are members and trainers there to help!

Very Nice place. I have always wondered why it is much higher than any other YMCA in the upstate of South Carolina? If all other YMCAs can offer memberships for around $50 a month why the Anderson YMCA is at $84 a month

The AAYMCA is a great institution, but essentially a public service. NOT a private gym/health club if thats what you are looking for. If you can afford a membership, some of your money goes to those who cannot. Which is a truly wonderful thing.

The Y has been recently renovated, has added a second, much appreciated racquetball court, new spin rooms, and more very nice training equipment. Yes, it is expensive, but IMO, worth every dollar for a nice, clean, modern facility.

The YMCA is a nice facility with a fantastic location, but is more expensive than other gyms in Anderson by a factor of five to eight times. Family memberships, which include families with only two members, cost $84 per month. The argument is the Y is the only facility with a pool, but the overwhelming majority of members dont use the pool anyway, so why not a discounted no pool membership? Single memberships hover around the $60 per month mark. It is true some large employers pay part of the cost, but the rest of us are stuck with overinflated prices. And now they are adding a new building to cater to the crossfit faction, which again is a small minority of overall members. If you have a large family that uses the pool and participates in a lot of sports and possibly crossfit, the pricing is probably fair. For the rest of us, including those who have been involved at the Anderson YMCA for more than 50 years, we pay a very high price for the convenience of a great location.
