Outstanding service and welcoming process. I am officially spoiled re: dental experiences. Looking forward to my next routine checkup/cleaning because of the exceptional care, consideration, and the hygienist & dentist being able to provide more detailed medical explanations for my nerd-brain and practitioner background.

The staff are fantastic and always put the patient first. Recently had a crown put on, and despite my fears, they made the whole procedure easy and as painless as possible. Ames Family Dental is without a doubt the best dental practice in Ames.

I have not had a lot of luck with dentists and was very nervous going into a new office. The entire experience and staff was amazing from start to finish. The procedure was so quick and done so well, I was pain free and home in no time. So grateful for such great people.

Its a shame I only found this place as I was about to move out of Ames. I am someone who absolutely loathes the dentist, but when one of my fillings cracked, I had no choice but to come in. I hadnt been to the dentist in a few years and they did a thorough examination (gum level, cancer screen..the whole nine). Kelly did my regular cleaning as well as deep cleaning on both sides and she was better than any person that has cleaned my teeth. She was more gentle and more accurate and most of all she didnt berate and lecture me about how I need to clean my teeth better. My teeth have never felt better after the deep cleaning and my gums do not bleed at all during flossing of brushing anymore. Everyones financial situation is different but they worked with my insurance and the final price was more than reasonable (I was expecting to pay much more). Everyone that works there is very friendly and I would recommend this dentist to anyone. Fantastic.

Talk about excellent client patient relationship! Ames family dental really nailed that! The doctors and staff are amazing! The minute I walked in, I was wowed by the interior design of the building. It was very up to date and very clean! The receptionist got up out of her chair to personally welcome me! (I am a new patient) I was honestly shocked by that because no one does that anymore. That was a great touch to start the visit! She then took me on a tour of the building which is new to me! (Also a great touch to the visit). The dental hygienist was so nice and friendly and made sure I was comfortable. They even have fancy new equipment! The doctor was so nice as well! All around an A++ visit. I will be recommending this place to anyone in the Ames area!P.S I even got a welcome to Ames family dental coffee mug as a present for being a new client!

Always have an incredibly pleasant experience when visiting Ames Family Dental. When you dont have to go in outside of your routine visits but feel recognized and like a part of the family is the best type of dental experience you can get! To top it all off the hygienists and doctors are very welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable!

Everyone was very friendly, facilities were nice, their equipment seemed to be new and up-to-date. They were very thorough during the cleaning and took the time to answer each question I had. I will definitely be going back!

Great experience having my temporary crown put on today. Dr. Patton and my hygienist were so knowledgeable and up to date on current dental practices. They are also exceptional educators, explaining each step to me. Most importantly, they were kind and patient. Each inquired about my comfort, gave me brakes to swallow and close my mouth. I called at 8AM on Monday and they got me in on the same day. I had my teeth cleaned and pictures taken. They were all super nice and sociable. I had a great experience both times I have been there and will continue to have Ames Family Dental be my dentist!

As an extremely busy college student I usually don’t hop on google to write a review. I have been at Iowa state for two years now. I was nervous going to a new dentist because of the amount of cavities I have. They were accommodating, flexible, and understanding. I highly suggest them.

The incredible service, amazing attention to detail, and the friendliest staff made for the most amazing experience. As someone who has had a lot of fear and nervousness about going to the Dentist, I was thrilled to be immediately greeted with patience and kindness. My dental hygienist was informative, friendly, and sensitive to my nerves and did an amazing job at not only improving the health of my teeth but making them look glossy and white! The staff and service is always top notch. They almost always are able to fit me in right away, even on short notice. Hands down the best cleanings Ive ever had. When they put my crown in, after only a couple visits for adjustments, they got it perfect! The staff really makes you feel like you matter and that your personal health is their top priority. 11/10 would recommend.

OMG! This must be the best dental clinic I have ever been. Faculties are all really nice, helpful, and patient to answer every single question I concerned. I also appreciated their advanced teeth exam equipment and professional explanation.

I cannot stress how much Ames Family Dental is the best dental practice in Ames. I originally chose AFD because Dr. Patten graduated from the University of Iowa, College of Dentistry—which is very well respected. Their facility is top-notch, it doesnt feel sterile like a dental office, but their standards are above and beyond. The staff is excellent—I have been in there a few times and recently called Bethany for a question, gave her my unique first name and she had already looked up my account. This is what personal client service should feel like. Dr. Patten and his team are genuinely friendly and care for your well-being first, and they answer all of your questions thoughtfully and thoroughly. I dont impress easily, but here I am.

It was my first time going to this dentist and they welcome me with a tour, smiles, and a gift. I really enjoyed going to them. They are very nice people and the facility is very nice. I like how they gave me details about my teeth and showed me the xray and explained what they were doing and looking for. They also have beverages in the waiting room. Ive been going to AFD (previously Dr. Goods private practice) for almost 30 years and have always appreciated the quality of service and the warm and professional staff. This is my opportunity to sing the praises of my long-time dental hygienist, Jenny, who patiently and expertly keeps my teeth sparkling. Shes a gem.

My daughter, who is away at college, had a dental emergency and needed a repair. We had no connections to anyone in Ames who could recommend a dentist, so she randomly chose Ames Family Dental and navigated her way there. What a lucky choice! She was warmly welcomed, received excellent care from Dr. Good, and the staff helped walk her through the payment process. As a mother, I am so grateful that when she struck out on her own, she found a dental office with staff who were caring and helpful, and who made her visit a pleasant experience. I havent been to Ames Family Dental in nearly 5 years (no longer in Ames), but I have never forgotten that Dr. Patten was willing to see me as a new patient outside of normal business hours during my fourth year of vet school. I was sleep deprived/stressed, on a very demanding rotation, and suddenly found myself with a razor sharp and painful cracked tooth. I dont remember the details of how I got in contact with him, but it was fixed within a day.A bit late to be writing this review, but I was recently reminded of the incident when reminiscing with classmates. Thanks so much for sharing a bit of kindness back then - I do my best to pay it forward to my patients now.

Wow! What a great experience I had at Ames Family Dental. They were so kind and inviting! When I arrived I got a tour of the offices and a little gift! I’ve never been treated so well at a dentists appointment. My doctor knew what she was doing (I guess that’s super important) and she was super kind :) I’m not from around here (ISU student) and I knew finding a new dentist around here might’ve been a little tough but I’m glad I went with Ames Family Dental! I’ll be going back there when I need to see a dentist!

Dr. Patten is the best dentist that I have been to!! He always tests his theory by asking pertinent questions without going to a tooth issue straight away. He knows how the total head affects the teeth!!!

As always my care was exceptional. Everyone there is truly kind and I believe has the patients comfort in mind at all times. When I had children I wanted them not to be afraid of the dentist and see it as a necessary part of good health (I hated the dentist growing up and as an adult let my appointments lack, until I started going to Ames Family Dental, they got me caught up and in good oral standings!). Ames Family Dental is great for children. I took my two year old for a first time visit and it went so smooth, they even answered her million questions about pretty much every tool in the office. She is still talking about the dentist weeks later and my four year old keeps asking when his appointment is.

Excellent dental office! It took me years to find a dentist I didnt dread going to and I can honestly say I enjoy my visits at Ames Family Dental. Everyone is kind and attentive. Dr. Patten truly cares about his work and his patients. He is very patient (especially if you get nervous or apprehensive about having dental work done) and very thorough. I moved out of the Ames area and drive two hours for all of my appointments because I truly believe its worth the drive.

They are all so kind and gentle. They definitely gave me a great experience. I’m actually ready to get some more work done.

I have bounced around dentists throughout the years due to work. I would have to say Dr. Cahill is the best dentist I have ever had. Her chair side manor is top notch! I loved how close and fun her and her assistant were (I am pretty sure that Kylie is the assistance name). Any anxiety I had was quickly diminished. Would recommend dr. Cahill specifically to anyone searching for a new dental home where they wish to feel at ease.

I loved my family dentist of 20+ years, but 3 years after moving to Ames I wanted to find a local dentist. I was nervous that I wouldnt find one that I loved as much, but I found Dr. Patten at Ames Family Dental, and truly believe he cannot be beat in his excellent service, profound knowledge of his profession, and thorough-ness with his patients.

Dr. Patten was so nice and polite. I hadnt been to the dentist in quite ahwhile and was worried I would be shammed for having poor teeth but it was the oppisite, he let me know that it was a chance to start over and have a healthy mouth. Hes very kind and conscientious and made me feel comfortable in a place I normally would hate.

I had Jenny as my hygiensit and she was fantastic!! You could tell that she showed attention to detail, she was also super nice and friendly.
