I got my nails done for the first time today. Overall a good experience. Everyone was very friendly and they explained the different steps of the process too when I asked some questions.I did find it a little weird that one of the other stylists was having her lunch at the table where I was getting my nails done, but they might not have a break room and it didnt have a strong smell or anything, so I didnt mind too much.One of the nails is a little thicker and darker than the others, but overall Im happy with them and I love the colour. I will definitely go back here again.

She did a set of nails for me before a wedding I was in. Although the appointment was longer than I was used to for nails, I could definitely tell how much detail and care she took to ensure my nails looked good. Asked for a perm,Got the rods in and all . 10 mins after the rods got asked if I bleached my hair which I did about 3-4 months before got told it would damage my hair so got it rinsed . They were nice people but they should have told me way before doing the treatment for a perm that I wasn’t suppose to have bleached hair. Still paid for a perm . My hair was extremely frizzy walked out my hair looking like this .

Im a weird person. Socially, Im awkward and easily exhausted. I dont have the emotional capacity for busy, stark aesthetics when I go into a business. And to top it off, I tend to have unconventional requests when I get my hair done.Heroic Hair had the perfect experience for me. Despite having several other clients (on a Wednesday afternoon, no less), the atmosphere was calm and professional, helping to sooth the usual anxiety of waiting for someone to be spending about an hour near me and talking to me.The interior design is gorgeous here. I learned that the store used to be an alleyway, and they chose to keep the exposed brick, which gave the interior aesthetic this lovely, deep color. It felt very cozy. Theres even an old door for a second-story legal business about halfway up the wall, and its really cool. Meanwhile, on the ground floor, everything is modern and clean and comfortable.My hairperson was Lizbeth Gonzalez, and she did amazing work. Her alternative style let me know that shed have no problem doing what I wanted, and, like some sort of fecking miracle, didnt let my short, curly hair request look like old lady hair. Amazing. She had a great customer service skill, too, and explained everything she did while treating me like a normal human being, which was fantastic. I really loved her style.If youre looking for a comfortable and engaging experience, go to Heroic Hair in Ames. Youll love getting the service done, and youll look badass when you come out.

My hair now is like a nightmare for me after doing Balayage in this place. I went to this place because of number of 5-stars in google but the reason that they have so many stars is because they will give you 5$ off if you write a good review for them....

If the haircut was good, but didn’t match my reference picture I wouldn’t be upset, but the haircut itself was bad AND did not match the photo. Hairstylist seemed rush and I feel like my wishes/ reference was not considered as much as it could have been. It felt as though the stylist went with what was easiest for her, rather than what would look best. It was not a comfortable and satisfactory experience for me personally.

I came here to get my hair colored for my 21st birthday, my stylist was Abi and she was AMAZING!! She knows her colors, if you want fun vibrant colors go to her!! 10/10 recommend I would give more stars if I could

My wife went to this place a week ago to get a balayage hair coloring. Her hair was natrual color and wanted to die her hair for the first time. She showed images of a smoky color... but her hair turned out orange after spending 150$. She went there a second time, so they could fix it and they bleached her hair again and also colored some parts of her hair back to black so it looks like balayage. The second employer also missed some of the orange parts and now her hair has three different colors...needless to say she is not happy. Then the employee said for her to get rid of the last remaining orange part you should do the half balayage again for $70 more.....on a 3rd, i repeat, a 3rd trip.

I was a little nervous getting my hair cut after 7 years, but Molly was amazing! She made me feel comfortable, did a great job and took care of donating the hair. Ill definitely be back!

I have mixed feelings about my experience at Heroic hair.If you are looking into lash extensions or any kind of eyebrow service, Sam and Ashtyn do beautiful work!I tried their salon services yesterday for the first time. My stylist was very kind, but she didn’t make me feel confident in her abilities. She kind of dismissed what I wanted and did what she wanted. The hair color turned out ok, but wasn’t what I asked for. I asked for a bob cut & black lowlights with silver baby blue highlights. She talked me into getting emerald green “highlights”. The application process was very sloppy. I still have hair dye on my neck and clothes from it. The cut is very uneven. She attempted to do layers in my hair-no sectioning involved. The right side of my hair is a lot thinner than the left side of my hair. Her hands were shaking throughout the entire hair cut.Pricing: highway robbery. One of the stylists next to me wanted to charge their client $650 for hair extensions.Overall, I don’t see myself going back and pretty disappointed with my experience.

I have been going to Heroic Hair for a couple of years now, following Abi to continue getting my hair done by someone I trust. The employees at the front desk are so friendly and helpful, and I’ve actually branched out in services since going because of how quality their work is. Sam and Ceara do great waxes, and Ashtyn has given me some of the cutest nail sets ever. I definitely recommend Heroic to anyone looking for beauty services!

I have probably had around 30 haircuts from Abi at Heroic Hair, starting from when they were at their old location in West Ames. I used to go to any hair cutting business, and it was usually whatever was cheapest or fastest. Never again! First of all, the price at Heroic Hair is about the same as anywhere else, and less than I’ve paid for far worse service at other places. Abi is always able to give the perfect haircut, despite my inability to make decisions and tell her what I want. The rest of the staff are also very friendly, and Jessi and Ashtyn have always made it a joy to be there with their never-ending effervescence at the front desk. Plus every time I’m there, I get to search for more little hidden “gems” in the walls! It is always an exquisite experience, and I would recommend this fine establishment to anybody who has hair, skin, or nails that they would like to improve. I would give 100 stars if I could!

I rarely get my hair done, and usually go for a cheap haircut or a cut by a friend. This time, I wanted to do something a little bit out of character, and I wanted to dye/highlight my hair turquoise, and pink/purple. Although my hair is cute, it doesnt have the rage of colors I was looking to have put in. I mentioned the colors I wanted in the notes when I made the appointment online, when I got to the appointment, and then in the middle of the appointment. In the future, I will probably just go back to having a friend do my hair, as this was a lot of money to not get what I was looking for.I called Heroic Hair back the next day, explained the situation, and they graciously offered me a timely appointment to remedy the situation. In addition, the process of dying my hair was explained, as well as, the aftercare details. I am ecstatic about the results and my overall experience there. Thank you for taking the time to literally brighten my day. I will be coming back!!!

However, upon inspection of my nails that I had done, I think they look a little wonky.Update: they offered to try and fix the nails, which was nice of them. They turned out a bit better than before. However, they still lack a profession quality. After a few attempts of going over the nails, I decided to call it good, due to a few spots where my skin was rubbed raw around the nail and causing bleeding.The employees were quite nice, and I believe they just need more practice and education. My fiancee saw the technicians certificate for a fourteen day nail shellac course, dated two months ago, so she is still very new and practicing. I believe their prices should be much lower than the forty some dollars I paid, until they perfect their services.I was also provided with a coupon for a free pedicure service with the same girl. I think it was a thoughtful gesture, but I am unsure if I will go back.RESPONSE TO OWNER: You may not have found me in your books because my name isnt Kapitan Reznikov, it is Marcie Cleland. My nails were done by a woman named Chelsea. I also appreciate your offer to look at my nails, however I have been in twice and have had my fingers rubbed raw. I was also assured that the second time I went in, there would another employee overseeing the process, to ensure Chelsea did a professional job. However, no one ever came by, not even for a quick glance at the process.I dont believe your salon has ill intentions, just a lack of skill. You have friendly employees. They just shouldnt be attempting to provide a service they cant actually provide.No matter how many trips you make to someone who is lacking expertise in nails, they will never be fixed. I appreciate your concern and offers, however I will be taking my business to a more reputable salon. I highly recommend further training for your employees, and far lower prices for your clients, at least until you can deliver a professional service. Thank you for your time.

My favorite stylist is Roslyn, and I highly recommend her. She works with me to narrow down my ideas to exactly the style I want. She knows I like changing things up remaining in natural color ranges. She gives good results in each length and color I try. She also listens to my concerns about my hair, gives me advice, and recommends products that help. Definitely recommend going to Roslyn!

This salon is amazing. I searched a lot for a good salon for my new haircut, because I had terrible experience last time I cut my hair. Most of the time I could not get what I was looking for a new haircut for my curly hair. So most of the time I was afraid to go to a salon even though I really want to get a new haircut. This time I did my research and finally found My salon and spa! And I was right and I was lucky to found this awesome salon.My hair stylist was Megan and I told her what I really wanted for my curly hair. she did exactly what I asked. She did great job! She cut my hair the way I really wanted. My hair is beautiful and my curls are super amazing! I got Shellac done yesterday and had a wonderful experience! The woman who did my nails took her time, testing out different colors to get the look I wanted. She even ended up mixing two shades for me and it turned out perfectly! Very patient and personable staff. I always get my nails done here prior to a special event.

Brianne S. is a phenomenal massage therapist. Ive been going fairly frequently over the last year. She listens to where I need work, and provides the intensity that I ask for. I like really hard massages, and she does a great job digging into my muscles.She is able to focus on the areas that I have pain in, and adjusts the massage to my needs. Ive been having some shoulder issues over the last year, and Im now pain free with the work that shes done for me. Thank you Brianne for the amazing work!! Brianne is also super easy to get along with and very knowledgeable about different massage types and how they affect the body.

I got the fiberglass nails done for a wedding and they were awesome. I showed Katie a picture of what I wanted and they matched exactly. I am hard on my nails. Before the wedding I rode my colt, chopped fire wood, did a lot of heavy lifting, AND went hunting. My nails held up through all of it. Plus they dont feel heavy like acrylic. Love them and love My Salon.I also get my hair cut and colored by Kelsey and she does an amazing job every single time. Plus they are fun to talk to and have a great atmosphere.

Love this place, seriously. They have the best people there for everything, I go in at least once a month and always leave feeling incredible (without being broke!) I always recommend My Salon to everyone.

I had a great experience at My Salon with Kelsie! She gave me a fresh new look and was so great in understanding what I was looking for. She also took the time to teach me a few styling techniques as well.

I really enjoy the atmosphere here, as opposed to other salons Ive been too. The staff is very welcoming and I love the overall look of the place. Indyca is also a fantastic stylist, she makes you feel very comfortable and clearly enjoys what she does. I dont trust many with my hair, but what she has done with it is phenomenal, does not disappoint, and I could not be happier! She is definitely my go to! 10/10 do recommend without hesitation!

Hannah is amazing! Im more of the I trust your decision kind of person when it comes to my hair, and she did great! I trust her completely to take care of my head, and beard, from here on out. Hands down the best service Ive gotten in Ames! 10/10 would recomend.
