I’ve been a patient in this hospital multiple times and one thing I found that’s consistent and that’s compassion and professionalism. I’ve been in with some life-threatening health problems and I’ve never seen so many competent and dedicated medical professionals that work together so well.

The MRI tech who helped me was very polite, kind & understanding and very considerate of my needs while administering the MRI & contrast medium. I notified him when I found I was going to be late to my appointment & I offered to reschedule but the tech was very polite and told me to continue and assured me it would not inconvenience him to wait for me. The MRI room was comfortable and the earphones he gave me were quite adequate to muffle the loud noise of the machine. The check-in people were professional and polite as well. Thank you everyone for making my visit comfortable. Good job!

Now I have to pay out of pocket to get my tooth repaired. I would never recommend this hospital to anyone, its all about the all mighty dollar to them, they dont care about a senior on on a fixed income

I was scheduled to be induced a week before my due date. My Dr. told me it was smart to, even though I had no problems during my pregnancy. The night I arrived, I was induced. The next day, during labor, this women comes in to tell me that they dont accept my city insurance. They told me to go to Northwest or go home. I chose to stay because I was in labor, I mean, who leaves a hospital while giving birth to their first daughter?? And they couldve told me months before when I was already signed up there?? I was not given the best service. There was one nice nurse while I was pushing and thats about it.Edit: Ive been contacted by two departments so that they can correct those issues. I was very pleased with the Supervisors I talked to and how they intended to work on things. Overall, I would most likely choose BSA again in the future since I know they intend to work on the process.

Recent appointment at BSA was to undergo a CAT scan. I was not admitted. It was a pleasant wait for my MRI/CAT. A beeper let me wander about the lobby. Past experiences included family members staying at the hospital and I must say BSA has always been consistent about communicating their desire to make things better. The staff is asking you instead of telling you about your concerns.

I am very disappointed in the billing department. My husband had to visit the ER earlier this year and we received a bill for the deductible amount plus coinsurance, which is fine and we are willing to pay the full amount but they refused to negotiate a monthly payment we could afford and turned it over to collections even though we had been making monthly payments. It was just not the $400 monthly payment they wanted. They said there was nothing they could do since we didn’t qualify for financial assistance with the bill. I’ve never been to a hospital that wouldn’t negotiate a payment plan. People willing to pay hospital bills shouldn’t be penalized for needing emergency care.

I went to the ER for my lower back. I had some test done. The treating doctor, said nothing was wrong acted like I was faking the problem.CT scan showed a problem at S1. Fortunately the nurse would listen, showed me the films. At one angle it looks fine. Look from the side, I was able to point out the problem immediately. The doctor insisted on a drug test, regardless of the proof. Great nurse, narcissistic doctor. If you dont have insurance believe the fact they will do EVERYTHING to keep from seeing you. You are scum without insurance.

We Came to the emergency room and waited for 4.5 hours and finally got one test done. The doctor said he would order more test so they had us in the waiting room for another 2 hours.I asked a nurse for an update and she was rude and said she couldn’t help me, I then asked a different nurse where we were at on the list since people just walking in were getting pulled back. It seems that we were forgotten about. Finally after another 25 minutes they had us in a room to withdraw blood. When the technician left, they left a needle in a covered syringe on the bed along with all of the wrappers. The room they put us in had needle caps on the floor and i could visibly see the bed area was not cleaned. Another 1.5 hours and I again had ask for an update on test results so we could leave..7 hours to officially get a roomI do not recommend coming to the emergency room here. Not cleanNot a priorityForgottenRudeJust an update weeks later.. as you see I got a response asking for contact information so they can receive more information to correct the issues. I emailed them with my contact information with no response. I guess they just do that to look like they care.

This hospital is the absolute worst!!!! I dont ever post reviews but patients need to know how they treat their patients. I am incredibly disappointed in the care of my father. Their motto is to treat people as if they were your loved one. The do not.!!!!!!The did not listen to him or the family at all. The were negligent in their care for him and he was hurt worse. They didnt feed him for two days. The family had to speak up and then they got him food. The staff was incredibly rude. They did not go out of there way for him. He left feeling embarrassed and ashamed of his experience. They should be embarrassed to have staff who couldnt care less. ITs sad the family is left to feel like they should have spoke up more. Been a better advocate. One star is only because I have to put one one here.

BSA Labor and Delivery is amazing! The staff were compassionate, competent, and most of all LOVED their jobs. They made me feel like me and my baby were the only ones in the hospital. One of the best parts of the experience was the newborn nursery. Being able to send my baby to the nursery with peace of mind made my stay that much better. I was able to get the rest I needed post surgery for my body to start the healing process, because of the nursery. The staff never made me feel guilty about it at all, they treated me with respect and dignity each time they called or entered my room to get or bring me my baby. I am a healthcare professional myself and it inspired me to be even better at my job. If I could give 10 stars I would!

Went to bsa for a head and neck injury. My headaches are getting worse with no kind of relief. I just wanted to know what is going on and Im literally crying while waiting to be seen. After an hour I was taken back to have a CT done after being placed in a neck brace. Afterwards was shoved into a small waiting area outside of triage. Im crying from the pain and waiting for results. Not one person informed me of anything or even asked if I was ok. I finally after 4 and a half hours waiting I asked a nurse what is going on and she just tells me nothing she can do. She just said its gonna be about another 4 hours or longer to be seen. Rude and very short with me. I attempted to ask several nurses and they just walk away like Im not even there. Nurses cursing in the hall ways. Completely unprofessional and rude. What has happened to having compassion and actually caring about patients? I will never go back. My suggestion to people who work there...if you have no heart and dont care nursing is not for you. We take our daughter into BSA as a Direct Admit patient for severe dehydration, we got there at 4:45 being told that an iv would be started immediately, as it should have been, but it wasn’t. They did their usual assessment and walked out without any words being said to us. So we wait, the doctor comes in at about 6 and says if she starts drinking fluids then an iv would not be necessary and to just wait an hour and see if she does drink something. We agreed. After the hour was up we sat there waiting on him to come back in and do the iv because she had not drank anything at all, (reminder, we’re In here because she’s severely dehydrated) well we sit there some more and wait and wait and wait. Finally the “Dr.” comes in at about 7:45 saying that an IV would not be needed because she “looks fine”. If she looked fine we wouldn’t be here in the first place. I tell him no, that it needs to be done, that this is the whole reason we are here, is to get this Iv started so we could get a bag of fluids running through her system to get her back to feeling better. He argues with me pretty much calling me and my wife stupid, and not to mention basically calling our pediatrician stupid for admitting us to the hospital, saying how she is only a nurse practitioner and he’s an MD. Not professional at all to talk down on another Doctor who is just trying to help our 1 year old. So I tell him he has until 8pm to get the iv started or we’re leaving and going elsewhere to get the care she deserves. He says ok and walks out. 8pm comes around and there’s no one near our room. I walk down to the nurses station to find them all laughing and talking it up. At this point I’ve had enough of their incompetence, so I ask for the AMA paper so we can get out of there. It takes them 15 minutes to find this document on their computer and get it printed out. So we sign the paper, leave, and went to northwest after talking with our pediatrician to get us a direct admission there, which she had done in 5 minutes. So we get to Northwest here in Amarillo, they immediately started an IV, got blood work done and found a diagnosis to our daughters dehydration and rash that she has all over her body now within the first 2 hours of being here. Thinking we’re finally getting things figured out and getting our little girl to feeling better and getting her the care she needs, we get a call the next day from our pediatrician and she explains to my wife and I that BSA had contacted CPS saying that we our putting our child in danger by going against medical advice and also saying we weren’t wanting to start an IV to fix her dehydration, even though it was the doctors orders to not do an IV. So now we are here in the hospital still with our daughter not only having to worry her and her condition, but also worrying about CPS starting a case on us just because of one doctors basic opinion on how my daughter looked when we got there. I will never return to BSA for ANYTHING AT ALL!! I will not tolerate being talked down to saying we don’t know our own child.

Honestly I wasnt going to write a review, but so far the experience at BSA is too horrible to not write a review. If I could give no stars I would. I have been in the waiting room for 6+ hours. The entire time Ive been here nothing has been wiped down or cleaned. I watched a nurse drop a paper towel and then leave it on the floor. The front staff is incredibly rude and the all of bathrooms are disgusting. There is pee all over the seats and a noody dirty bandaid. Which is a biohazard just so you know. However the final straw was when I witnessed Sabra remove a patients bloody IV in the waiting room without using gloves. She then only used germ-x befire returning to the front desk instead of washing her hands. This is disgusting and inexcusable. After this trip I dont think Ill ever be going back to BSA.

When I left, we were the only people left in there. My sister in law and spouse left there at 9:15pm without being seen. Its ashame to be sick, and wait all this time and not be seen. Hungry, tired, frustrated, and nothing accomplished. Leave the same way you came in, SICK! This is unacceptable as medical professionals. You could atleast have had the common decency to come out and give an update as to an estimated time of being treated. She has insurance and should not have to pay for this incompetence. Also this waiting room was not cleaned, wiped down or disinfected the whole time I sat there. They had 1 restroom in this newly remodeled waiting area, for men & women to share. It was not cleaned the entire time I sat there. I told the nurse there were no paper towels in the restroom and never saw the 1st janitor go in there and put paper towels in the dispenser. My husband and I had our first baby at BSA and we were very pleased with the service we got! I love that they have a nursery so that we could rest. (especially for me to recover) They have a tub in the room which was great for my recovery as well! Our baby stayed in our room for some of the day but in the evenings stayed in the nursery and they brought him to us for feedings. The food was great and it was nice having it brought to me as I never left the room due to being sore. The nurses and staff were friendly and explained things very well during our stay! If I have another baby I’ll definitely go back to BSA!

Nurses are nice, patient care is great. I was on the 3rd floor after my gma just got out of surgery and the room we were in had bed bugs!! My sister and dad kept getting bit and they would not move us to a new room for about 3 hours. I understand its a hospital and things can be brought in and its hard to contain but this is supposed to be one of the cleanest places and they failed at that. Northwest hospital is where Ill be going from now on.

Amazing care. My son was in ICU for 2 weeks and the care was nothing short of stellar. We had to go for many tests during our stay, from X-Rays to PICC lines and every single person was just very understanding and compassionate. Even the transporters were very responsive to my son asking them to let him know when we approached a bump. Every single thing we needed was covered. This may sound like a little thing, but in the pediatrics area there is an entire playground, indoor and outdoor. Along with a beverage station and snacks. This served as a small getaway in the hospital for us. The cafeteria has a wonderful variety of food and the coffee shop actually serves decent coffee. Although I wish I would have never had to experience this, I am so grateful BSA is the place we had to experience it. I would not change a single thing. Thank you BSA.

We had a great experience from ER to hospital admitting. We were there 3 days and my mother had the best care. The ER Drs were so kind and gentle. They did everything to insure my mother was safe. We were driving from Ohio to California and my mother is a dialysis patient. They took great care of my mother. Thank you BSA Hospital staff for your commitment to excellence.

I agree with Ben Martinez’s review. Our experience has been a total nightmare! Pay the out of network fee and get as far away from BSA as possible. BSA was once know as the place to go for excellent healthcare. Far from it now. Gave it 1 star as there’s no option for 1/4 star rating.

I had an amazing experience with both of my hospital stays this year. I was admitted for 5 days in September and 5 days this month for illness in pregnancy and preterm labor. The staff is exceptional. I have been a nurse for 21 years and I am extremely picky. But these nurses and doctors went above and beyond with my care. House keeping was amazing. They were prompt with cleaning my room and went above and beyond as well, to insure we were comfortable. The food was very good. I recommend the corn meal chicken. It is fabulous. I couldnt be more pleased with my care.

I have been here over a week now with my significant other and his condition has worsened. If you want help don’t recommend this place. They are incompetent doctors. The nurse try to help but the doctors don’t respect the opinions of any nurse. They stopped the care they were giving him and I’ve never seen him in such bad shape. He is a man that loves doing things and cooking, he is also a great family man. Right now he has no expected release and hasn’t been able to leave his bed since he arrived and he misses his family.

I know every business has employees that are substandard an I ran into some at BSA as well as some good ones. One instance we had been in the ER with my Mom for hrs. And I calmly walked to the counter where two nurses were talking about SEX. I stood quietly for some time waiting to be acknowledged. They were talking personally not business wise. Finally one said yes ma’am? Before I could open my mouth one said, “I know, you have been here 5 hrs. And 26 Min.!). I said “No, I was wondering if my Mother’s tests have come back.” I don’t know how I kept from jerking that nurse from across the counter. If we are at the ER we are already emotionally charged but to this dayI should have reported her. Another visit they gave my elderly Mom a morphine shot and left the bed rails down. She rolled over and the mattress slipped on the gurney and she fell on the floor on her hip replacement! I watched her but couldn’t catch her! I ran out yelling for a Dr. and they frayed her and thankfully nothing was injured! I have always loved BSA but I am concerned about them now. Pleaseee do better for your patients health and for the rating of the hospital.

The room was tiny, the weight/measure of baby after delivery took over an hour and lost bonding time with my son, overfed my son and he went home with feeding problems and a upset stomach, nursery time wasnt optional and i hated that. too much intervention and i lost a lot of my bond with my baby, it threw me into a depression for a long time getting over the experience. northwest is where i should have went. will never forget the sadness of this experience.

I was double billed for labs. The labs were originally drawn by my pediatrician’s office and then sent to BSA to process. BSA then sent the lab to Amarillo Pathology Clinic to process. Amarillo Pathology Clinic & BSA hospital charged me over $1000 for the same lab results (after insurance). BSA “processed” the lab & Amarillo Pathology Clinic added a professional fee to read the “positive or negative” results. I feel taken advantage of as a medical provider myself.

Doctors were very helpful, nurses not so much. It looks like they are ready to go home all the time. And dont like answering your questions. One of the male nurses, Chris carried a pretty good size pocket knife around. Looks like he doesnt trust the security team. He wasnt a lot if help and very annoyed .ist of the time.

Went in with such severe chest pain that I couldn’t even speak. They rushed me back got me hooked up to EKG and IV going. They worked fast, luckily it wasn’t a heart attack but it sure as heck felt like it was. The doctor was thorough with the tests and explained everything to me. He explained the issue I had he said it feels worse than a heart attack. They got me treated and the pain went away. He found other issues in my bloodwork that he talked to me about. I was very impressed with and confident in the care I received.

I was brought to the hospital by ambulance. Ambulance staff was great and extremely helpful. Sadly, this place put me in the waiting room for hours to receive medical care and walked out before being seen. These people are not trying to help you but make matters worse by making you wait on hours end.

[This is a one-star review because, like all simplistic internet reviews, one is not allowed to write a zero-star or a negative star review]Unless you are dying, DO NOT USE THE VETERINARY SERVICES HERE! My late wife presented here at the ER on 4 occasions (and was subsequently admitted) with symptoms that, depending upon the admitting physician, ranged from dementia through schizophrenia to motor neuron disease. If only there had been one competent physician available, it would have been noted that she was experiencing paraneoplastic syndrome. I am wiser now, at the cost of the love of my life, and that is why I say GO SOMEWHERE OTHER THAN THIS OR ANY HORSE-PITAL IN AMARILLO!!!

I went around March 13 - 24th for emergency appendicitis and sepsis. And the nurses there are the absolute best. I mean, they cared nonstop. For my visit there, walking was the last thing in my mind but every time I did they would cheer me on, even if the pain turned into tears. Pushed me every step of the way. When they would insert the blood thinners into my thighs, my hips, and my stomach, when they would take blood from my arms or move my IV they would always hold my hand even before Id ask for it. (I guess they noted my fear of needles) I also had people that were there for me and they cared for them too. Are you guys comfortable? Do you need any extra pillows and blankets? The bond I gained with these Ladies was unbelievable. The day I was discharged I had a good amount of nurses cry. Crazy how much you can impact someone in such a short (yet long) amount of time. Love BSA and their workers. To the moon and back.

Er staff at check in desk just could not care or conjure up any kind of sympathy or compassion about any patient that came in for their care. Lisa especially has the worst customers service i have ever witnessed. She should be in the back putting blankets in the warmers not working with people.

The labor and delivery nurses and doctors are amazing! I had my twins at BSA on Sept. 25th and had a great experience! They spent 48hrs in the NICU. The nurses in the NICU did a great job! I couldn’t have asked for a better experience!
