I love this Gym. I am thankful they are in Amarillo. It is the first time I have joined a gym. The front desk people are friendly and helpful. I signed up with a trainer and she has helped me a great deal. I actually hurt my lower back and I was about to cancel my training session. I am glad I kept my appointment with my trainer because she worked with me to give me exercises to relieve my lower back pain. She is working with me to strengthen my core muscle. I highly recommend this gym and my trainer, Blanca Ferrel. Furthermore, my lower back pain is almost gone.

We have been Golds members for almost 6 years. The gym is ok - equipment ok, workout spaces/rooms ok, locker rooms ok, staff mostly ok, but why does the music have to be so loud? This isnt supposed to be Crunch or Planet Fitness.

I am sorry but this gym is a little late on the up-grads and equipment. I dont se them working for long, They could use a bigger cleaning staff, I will go in and give another look. I always give a company a second chance but I will have pictures this time if its not clean and offer some advice.

This gym use to be one of the best in Amarillo a few years ago and they even had 2 of them in town. Ever since the owners sold it to that one lady it has gone ALL THE WAY DOWN HILL! The one thing i thought that set them apart was the womens center and providing towels for the members but now you have to pay extra for towels and the womens center doesnt even really exist anymore. The second location closed already which was the one i went to because the womens side was pretty big! There is nothing great about this gym anymore and its not worth the price.

I understand poor service and communication but you can not blame managers for following corporate policy. I enjoy this gym and to say the least I am glad they remain open for the time being. If you are sick, dont go to the gym.

Many staff member are incredibly rude to patrons. This is astonishing since we are paying for them to have jobs. The trainers are great. Its the people at the front counter and even one of the owners. We have paid all through COVID despite not being able to use the gym. Surely, this should be worth something. Maybe its time to try Verdure.

Avoid at all cost. Owner still billed members while being closed. Offered to take on a month at the end of my contact ( what?!) 100s and 1000s of companies were suspending payment or helping however they could. Not this gym. Full 100% for services you couldn’t use.

I’ve been going to Golds Gym for YEARS (since high school)And I finally get the courage after losing 120 lbs to shower at the gym, because it saves time...well, tonight I was approached by the night manager, and was asked “is it legal for you to be in here, even though your trans?” I looked at him dumbfounded, and no matter how many times I told him, he wouldn’t believe that I was biologically male. He made me show him my drivers license, then told me “well you can identify as whatever on a drivers license, a birth certificate is more legit.” Then he tells me “if you really are a guy, you wouldn’t be getting this offended, and would be proud and own up to it” Welcome to Amarillo.

Customer service is awesome. The equipment is great. The womens gym IS small but adequate. However I chose this gym for the availability the pool. Tonight I planned to go at 730 after the last class ON THE SCHEDULE. I happened to call in to ask a question before I left only to be told that several nights a week an outside source uses the pool until 830. Very disappointed. Will be looking in to another gym. If I cant use the pool according to schedule why bother?

Have been a gym many years. Looked forward to new owners & changes they would make & hopefully fix things that had been broken too long or too many times. This was not to be. Brought down half a wall, lots of paint, & all new floor exercise equipment. Hot tub in womens locker room is over 20 years old & broke or the jets dont work all the time. Takes week or more to get parts & is down untill further notice. Needs signage very much in womens dressing room. Carpet was to be taken out & has had plumbing problems many times in shower area. These things & others havent been taken care of it is rumored because they ran out of money. These need to be attended to because Golds is a good gym & Kim Lane & other instructors are great & it is easily located for me. Hire back Melissa in child care & take care of your older clients too. Too much spent on aesthetics, take care of whats broke.

Gold’s needs to invest in their one and only gym in Amarillo. The facility was dated and poorly laid out and the equipment is on it’s last leg. I love Gold’s as a company but this facility needs some love.

I do want to say a few things about gold gym. I am leaving due to my work moving me to a different area. But it was not great experience that I had at the gym. The reason I joined was that you offered classes and the ones I was able to make the instructors were great and friendly. But the front desk staff needs some major training and some customer service. When I signed up at first I was told by the lady up front that she was to busy to show me around or tell me anything about the gym (as she flirted with a guy who was there to work out) so to come back later.I came back and a young man got a young girl to sign me up. She asked if I had been there or if I wanted to be shown around. I said I am not from this area at all so sure. Than she started talking and forgot to show me around...Also as I read the paper work I signed it said something about getting a free trainer session, yeah that was never talked about, and I was never given any information about that. Also when I went in on a Saturday to cancel my membership first I was told by the front desk lady that the business office is open on weekends and that if I could not make it back in that day I could call to cancel my membership. So, I called later on that day and the lady on the phone said the ONLY POSSIBLE way to cancel is to come in on a week day and talk to the business office in person.Per the paper work that I signed it said I could cancel through email- which was important to me since my work moves me a lot and on short notice....yup I emailed and the reply was you have to come in, in person...not sure how I can do that.....

The hot tub has been broken and left with about a foot of standing, gross water in it for WEEKS. The sauna is not warm, a draft comes under the door and blows cold air on you. The pool is rusted in spots but stays at a decent temperature. The equipment is decent and there are plenty of options for exercises. Over all, I enjoy going but really wish they would make the necessary repairs .

Its a gym. And not a bad one. Its got weights, lockers, and showers. There are even extras like a massage table, a pool, racket ball courts, and classes. Compared to the other Golds Gym, this place has much more equipment - just about anything youd want and need. Theres older equipment and newer equipment, but it all requires effort and motivation to overcome the force of gravity - thats where you come in... what else do you need? Not too flashy, but for the cost - this place has it all and then some - Love it.

I used to enjoy this gym (blackburn) years ago but after they increased my rates without notifying me (they said they sent an email of course i never received it) and just letting the gym go... meaning it was dirty, smells, mold in showers and just a lack of caring from the staff I knew it was time for a change. Its sad because Golds could be a great gym.

Coming from the perspective of working at the gym personally for many months, Gold’s has the potential to be such an amazing gym. But their lack of caring is what kills it. Working st the front desk you are expected go above and beyond for the members but you also aren’t trained properly or efficiently. There is no incentive to wanting to go above and beyond your job description as well (I.e pay). Getting paid )7.25 doesn’t make anyone want to jump to their feet and do their best even when it’s needed. I love the environment of golds, I’ve met some amazing people in the fitness world working just at that location but it’s deterioating. It’s gone so low as to pairing up with a plastic surgery commercial to promote it. That’s not health and that’s not fitness. Nothing against plastic surgery, but Golds as a brand name and iconic piece of the fitness world, I feel personally, would not deem it as acceptable. I love golds and I have even thought about going back to workout or even work there but not without changes being made. The weight room has such a wide variety of equipment, even though cleaning is an issue. The people at the front often times do try to do their best within their means. I don’t feel like golds here in Amarillo is living up to the Gold’s Gym brand. I’m not trying to “bash” my former place of work. Just trying to give input from my perspective. If you want a great weight room and ignore the gossip and uncleanliness, golds is a great gym but it has wasted potential as well.

I live in Dallas, travel to Albuquerque to visit family & usually stop & stay at the Travelodge(Amarillo) just walking distance from Gold Gym. Its free for all guest staying at the hotel (hassle free). The staff was extremely friendly. I like that the gym is walking distance, instead of driving around looking for a gym & paying for a day past. The gym had everything I needed & more. 😁

From my experience noone in this building knows the correct fees for the gym and they also dont want to help you get signed up there. They are very I get paid by the hour attitude. Noone showed me around. I told them I was comparing to another facility and they had no interest in selling their gym to me. Now I got charged almost double what I was told it would be and no has answered the phone after I have called for a straight hour.

Overall, I like the gym, and its well equipped, but a few things could be improved. 1. The monthly fees could be lower, especially considering Zachs and other places offer much lower ones. 2. Why are only some of the ceiling fans above the cardio area ever turned on, but none above the weightlifting equipment? Why have the fans if not to use them? 3. One of the recumbent bikes has a screen that will not work, one has a seat that is jammed and cant be adjusted (it may be the same bike), and the other has a broken pedal strap. The bikes have been this way for months, now. Ive reported it twice before and each time was given a line of BS about them.

If I could rate this franchise a ZERO I would! Horrible customer service and untrained staff. The front desk gives incorrect fee information at sign up, your account is entered incorrectly, your credit card is incorrectly over charged and you leave messages for the owner for 2 weeks and get NO response! Do not waste your time, energy or money on this place with its uncaring owner and inadequately trained staff.....there are plenty of other fantastic gyms in Amarillo to go to!

I am sad to learn that you care so little about your clientele that need the accessibilty that handicap parking allows that you would allow some pompous jerk to block it with their oversized truck. Shame on you, you should let this member know he is not only an ass but is an ass that is breaking the law. I will be reporting the both of you to the appropriate enforcement agencies.. enjoy your fines and bad publicity

Filth, Crime, and Trashed out. This place has become a complete dive. The crime, the pathetic maintenance of the facility, and the rude management that doesnt care whether they have any customers or not should be reason enough to stay away from this place. The clientele along with the nearby neighborhood is going down fast. The whole place looks cheap and now totally trashed out. If you value your car and your belongings you may want to go somewhere else after the crime spree this past winter of numerous cars being burglarized in the parking lot. There has also been numerous incidences where lockers have been broken into and wallets stolen. The whole place looks cheap and now totally trashed out. In the mens locker room, the shower stalls usually have a colorful array of filth, the steam sauna has a horrible odor except when the patrons leave some eucalyptus which helps mask the odor. The dry sauna was poorly built and the floor constantly has water on the floor that backs up from the floor drain and quite often sewer gases emit from the drain. The hot tub has a constant ring of scum that I dont want to think about. The workout equipment is always needing maintenance. They always run out of towels during peak times. The whole swimming pool looks pathetic as well and the water looks cloudy. This is not a place to join and the regular members are starting to bail.
