As of today, specifically 2 hours ago, this company has yet to respectfully or professionally give dignity to my father. No cremation date or death certificates so his wife can prove his death. She is receiving no income. Many errors on their part have caused this, yet I have no resolution. Im in a different state and cannot run down to the office. Enough grief is being felt losing our patriarch.i received a call as I was typing this from the manager. I will revise this rating if things go as stated. For now tho I am one unhappy patron

Mountain View Mortuary where history, elegance and our family memories are truly Everlasting... THANK YOU for serving our family for more than three generations during our toughest times. Knowing that we had your care by our side, your wonderful staff made everything much easier to transition as we said see you later to our beloved family...

This year Mountain View Mortuary & Cemetery assisted my wife and I to carry out funeral and burial arrangements for our pastors who spent their last days in a retirement home. From the time we made pre arrangements to the final burials, the Mountain View staff were superb. Arranging transport from the care home, organizing the burial and providing live streaming technology at the funeral, were managed by Theresa Perriello, Funeral Director, and Jessica from Keeper. Jessica assisted me to set up an online memorial for our pastors. We highly recommend the services of Mountain View.

During an infrequent visit to visit the graves of my great-great grandparents I noticed the large stone with their surname was about 4 inches off its concrete base. It may have slid during an earthquake. I contacted the cemetery office by email and got an almost immediate reply. They agreed to reposition the over-500-hundred-pound block. This was done within 24 hours and I received before and after photos. This service reflects empathy for families of deceased. The grounds are well maintained. Terrific service!!!

When you go to a cemetery to find out information about a birth parent and you are given (and I asked there rep. for all information that they can give me) NOTHING MORE THEN A COMPLETE STRANGER WOULD HAVE RECEIVED THERES SOMETHING WRONG . And Im the only birth child that they had and to my knowledge the ONLY LIVING DIRECT BLOOD RELATIVE . This is what is required : a certified genealogy report , a attorney , a lawsuit AND court order , a certificate birth certificate , and some document from the state of California proving there is no other living relatives .OK PIECE OF CAKE RIGHT Empathy at its best .In addition from what I was able to tell I was given wrong PLOT NUMBER AND PLOT POSITION I WAS NOT ABLE TO FIND HIM THANKS MOUNTAIN VIEW.

If you enjoy getting the run around this is the place to go.. No one seems to know answers to any questions and the people who may know something never call you back. They have made a difficult time that much more difficult. It is also very old and not very well kept. Not where I wanted my dads final resting place.

We flew in from Washington state to attend a family function in Pasadena and visited Mt. View to see the graves of many family members and some friends. The cemetery itself is so beautiful with the eucalyptus trees all around and the hills in the background. We stopped in the office to get maps of the grounds and met Jim and then Denny who brought us in and printed everything we needed to locate the plots on our list. Denny took us out to the first one and then we chose to go to the rest on our own but he was willing to help us find them all - and there was quite a list. There were employees working out in the cemetery that we could contact at any time to get further help if needed - and we did at one point. They were very nice and explained how to find the markers in further detail that helped us. Jim also has created a searchable database online that is the only reason I found the death date and burial location of my great great grandfather. He has other online tools on the Mt. View website that pinpoint the grave location within the cemetery since it is so large. The cemetery has a beautiful, calm feeling and I know our friends and relatives are resting peacefully there and are well taken care of.

My father recently passed away. Nothing can prepare you for losing someone so important and so loved in your life. And yet, when that person passes, you are forced to deal with the realities of responsibilities that must be met. You arent ready, and certainly ill-prepared, but you must meet those responsibilities nonetheless. The most you could hope for is help from knowledgeable and sympathic experts. That is what my family received with the staff a Mountain View Cemetery. Our funeral director, Teresa, was amazing. So helpful and so sympathetic. She immediately became part of our family and guided us through our most difficult life experience. And Mountain View staff handled every important detail of the funeral service to perfection. Even our unconventional last rum and coke toast to our father was treated with the respect of family tradition. In the end, we were able to lay our father to rest respectfully and lovingly. We feel so fortunate and blessed to have found Mountain View Cemetery. Words will never adequately express our gratitude.

My parents had entered into a pre-need agreement with Mountain View Cemetery. When my mother passed away 22 years later, they were thorough, thoughtful, considerate, and professional, and satisfied all contractual responsibilities perfectly and without question. I recommend their services highly.

Well, I havent been buried there, though I once did sit down to make pre-arrangements. For the community of Altadena, Mountain View Cemetery and Mausoleum is almost like a local park. (I have heard of people whose parents taught them to drive on the streets that run through the cemetery.) The cemetery has been owned and operated by the historic Giddings family and descendants since it was opened in 1883. It is open every day for visitors to stroll among the tombstones that mark the resting places of Civil War veterans (mostly Union, but some Confederates as well), as well as notables and just plain folks. The pioneer of aerial surveillance, Civil War balloonist Thaddeus Lowe, is interred alongside his wife.Mountain View offers works with performers throughout the year to utilize the facilities for productions. On Memorial Day, reenactors take folks through the Civil War section and further, to some of the first graves, and standing by the Lowe tombstone, bring the family back to life. WickedLit from Unbound Productions mounts a trio of plays there every autumn, using the cavernous mausoleum and grounds to present tales of terror and horror.Whether one goes to make arrangements, enjoy the scenery and the vista of the San Gabriel Mountains (including Mt. Lowe), or attend an event, it is a lovely place to spend some time in Altadena.

First of all I want to say how wonderful and warm this place is. I have had the incredible opportunity to meet the owner nearly five years ago. He and I were partners in an organization where I managed nearly 5000 people via an online virtual environment. The awesome part is that this organization was global, and I had the fortunate opportunity to meet several people face to face nationwide and in Canada. The owner of Mountain View Mortuary, Cemetery and Crematory; MVM, and I became good friends and close business partners by way of online communications. He was in need of someone to take over running his 135 year long, five generation old family business. He is very patient, observant, yet very methodical in his ways, and at the right time in the right place he chose me.I have moved across country to help move this company into the next generation. It has now been 3 years exactly that I came here to Mountain View. I have put my blood, sweat, and tears into this place. It is a work in progress. A HUGE Challenge, a HUGE SACRIFICE, yet at the same time a VERY HUGE REWARD.Mountain View is not PERFECT by any means, yet we do our very best in working with every family who walks in the door. We have feelings and emotions just like everyone else. We make mistakes, yet we admit it and immediately fix things and help to make every person know we care. Especially at one, if not the hardest times in their lives.See.... we all experience death. We have even lost some our own within the last 3 years since I have been here.Jay knew the company staff was getting old, and he didnt see the longevity until he started his search. When I came on board we made several changes, some drastic. Yet those changes needed to be made for the future of Mountain View.We have a lot of overhead; 60+ acres is a lot to manage. We don’t have deep pockets like some of the competition, like the Big boys along the freeways. We thrive on tradition yet look forward. We thrive on honesty, and we need to hear and speak the truth. We also know the difference between VALUE and cheap. It has not been an easy road... kind of like those bumpy roads you experience while driving around in the cemetery. I like to be reminded that life is not a smooth road at all.... you will experience many bumps along the way. What a wonderful place to be reminded while strolling through the cemetery.Anyone is welcome to visit our grounds between 8am and 5pm everyday. Park in our parking lot and stroll through the cemetery. Be reminded that this place was started in 1882. It is not CORPORATELY OWNED. We are a proud five generation FAMILY OWNED facility. We will treat you just like one of our own family from the moment you walk into our doors. So, the reviews below mine are from the OLD Mountain View, We are here to SERVE YOU and move forward into the next generation.
